i really appreciate how in-depth victor hugo goes with descriptions of characters in les misérables. especially with the “a group who barely missed becoming historic” chapter. just lengthy paragraphs about each member, not over or under written, the absolute right amount of information to introduce these characters. i wished more books did something like that.

Combeferre: What’s the first thing you notice when a person approaches you?

Enjolras: The audacity.

Grantaire: I guess we’ll have to share this one.

Enjolras: How do you share a popsicle?

Enjolras: *is slightly turned on*

Combeferre: Wow. He ate that performance quite well.
