More Sakura action game thoughts, this time with a little Towa City and some user suggestions, woo! Shout out to @eristrocratand@mariogman25  for them!

If you’d like to see more of this AU, I also have a [Part 0][Part 1][Part 2][Part3][Part 4] or you can use the Roaring Cherry Blossom tag!

Now some more thoughts below the line. I still have to think about what I want to do with Nagito, maybe for next post unfortunately xD

Towa City:

  • Like in the drawing and how I drew it in this post, Komaru and Toko would be allies that help you fight along the way through Towa City. You can also pick up Komaru to aim shots yourself and use her different bullets if necessary. Yes including dance.
  • After saving Kenshiro, he would stay in the future foundation hub and you would be able to talk to him whenever he’s awake. c:
  • Again, I don’t quite know what to do with Nagito but I do have a few ideas that could work:
    • (For all of these assume Nagito and Monaca have been separated. He would never bring up his plan after UDG to the main trio.)-
    • Nagito has no fight. The main challenge is just exploring Towa with Toko/Komaru and trying to find him. He is in a random location every game. Then you are able to take him back to base no problem as he complies with the Neo world plan. But once back at base, he can influence some people about despair from the inside without anyone knowing and it becomes a problem later.
    • You don’t fight Nagito, you fight his luck cycle. When you find him, he does not agree with the plan so Sakura regrettably knocks him out like the rest of the remnants. While you are carrying him back, bad luck starts affecting you along the way; such as more monokumas than normal catching you off-guard, rain starts falling and you get struck by lightning or some big weight falls on you. It culminates with the helicopter that is supposed to bring you back to base breaking down and Sakura just going on foot instead……Which is miles away. Eventually you learn the patterns of the luck cycle and you can start dodging and “fighting” whatever comes at you.
    • Similar to fighting his luck cycle but instead his luck cycle keeps preventing you from reaching him. (ex: You are on a bridge, it collapses after a talk) Instead of reaching him on brute force, you have to convince him that being put into the neo world program is good and then his good luck will start working for you.
  • So like Idk??? What do you guys think??

Mahiru battle:

  • I say the battle is short because that’s just the confrontation in the auditorium. In reality, Mahiru would be fighting ever since Sakura left remnant state by sending her pictures. A little more about it is written here.
  • The art gallery/hallway section would be pretty long and many winding paths. Monokumas would be trying to decieve you by handing you false clues and play with your senses by making noises and causing illusions with different photos.
    • I should mention that I envision Sakura having a “focus” button that would slow things for a second to give you a chance to react to anything. There would also be a sound cue of alert if something outside of your field of vision, but Sakura can hear/notice, appears so you can also react to it.
    • Because Sakura is on edge in this level, that sound cue will also mislead you to disorient you further. During the final confrontation, the Monokumas could flash cameras at you to stun you out of focus. Yes, it would be annoying but it’s practically the only line of defense Mahiru has at this point.

Mukuro battle:

  • The point of this fight is to be a fun extra battle and riding the line of non-canon as y’know, her head was blown off. Consider her more a robot made by Kazuichi than human at this point.

More explanation for the drawings above and answering some other questions below!

==

“*smashes through wall* THE THH SURVIVORS BUT REMNANTS OF DESPAIR.”[Anon]

==

Oh this one was fun! Here’s a little more explanation for the drawings I made above:

  • Byakuya: Byakuya is the leader of Togami corp which is part of the “ Council of Global Controllers” that controls a part of the earth, like, come on. He’d be the scariest remnant of the entire roster of DR with that power. His influence far surpasses Junko. Think about it!!
  • Kyoko: Since detective work wouldn’t really do much to spread despair, her strength would be in tactics for sure. I can imagine teams led by Kyoko would be extremely successful, especially when it comes to offense or infiltration.
  • Hina: Her physical strength and endurance would be the strongest thing about her, so she’s just a formidable fighter type. For the drawing, I thought of her being deployed into water when the remnants destroy a ship. She could then swim around and kill/drown any potential survivor trying to escape.
  • Yasuhiro: I took a different direction with this one: Yasuhiro would be great at crashing the economy. He could do lots of black market business with how many people are dying as well as use his fortune telling skill to predict things. Even if he guesses wrong, the despair that comes from that would be good too.
  • Toko: She would influence people by writing despair-centered books and propaganda. It’s slightly less effective than Mahiru taking photos but she definitely has a fair-sized audience to despairify.
  • Makoto: I don’t think he CAN become a remnant, he’s way too lucky to become one. All the times there was a chance, he was knocked out of it pretty soon or it just didn’t work. The man was the reason Junko failed after all. So I’m thinking, instead of him being a remnant, he’s just been imprisoned by the others and is just consistently being exposed to despairing screens to keep him like he was that one time in the future arc. He will escape eventually because of luck but for now, that’s the best thing they can do.
  • Genocide Jack: …..Speaking of which, it would be VERY interesting if GJ was left un-despaired and is the reason Makoto escapes. We will have another Naegi joining with GJ to fight despair and make the despair…..lads. But if she did manage to “fall into despair”, I dont think anything would change honestly xD

==

“Now if you Like the idea What about kokichi taka and Kaede as remnants (taka is quite smart, kokichi is… Kokichi and Kaede would be alike ibuki!) have a nice day!” [@astral123space]

==

  • Kokichi: I think Kokichi would mostly keep the same personality and lift the condition of team DICE only being pacifists. Maybe they don’t kill with their own hands but they spread despair and let other people do it for them(or hurt themselves)? But generally, yeah he could definitely be a good leader and tactician as well.

(Im so sorry I couldn’t draw Taka, I couldn’t find a good way to categorize him in the format I was doing ;w;)

  • Taka: Similarly to Kirumi, Taka is about to become Prime minister which would already give him a large position of power. Though compared to her, I think he’s a far better leader and could do more with his position. As for personality, I can’t imagine him being any different from Kiyondo but….. more.
  • Kaede: Sure, it would be like Ibuki but I’d argue Ibuki can make more harmful music than Kaede.(Loud ear, piercing, electronic sounds can do a lot!) I believe Kaede’s strengths would be morale support for her team and influencing her niche music audience kinda like Toko.

==

“Okay but consider: Remnant Kaito”[Anon]

==

I believe remnant Kaito’s role would be similar to Nekomaru’s. A battle leader type who is constantly motivating his people and helping them do their best to kill and such. I don’t think it’s in his knowledge to fly airplanes/rockets(require several people) or fighter jet planes unfortunately so instead I gave him a jetpack. xD

==

“Could you draw or talk about a remnant Kiyo design, please? If you think it would be interesting to do.” [Anon]

==

Sure! Kiyo wouldn’t have lots of influence but he surely would be great at gathering information about the enemy and keeping records on how many societies have fallen into despair. If he worked with other tactician-leaning characters, I think they would be really strong. If we are keeping the thing about him being a serial killer and his whole sister situation (which I personally would rewrite a bit…) then we can also add that he knows how to kill lots of people, which is something.

==

“How would Remnant Nekomaru Act?”[Anon]

==

As I’ve kind of shown in this post, Nekomaru would retain his loud supportive nature but instead it’s specifically for spreading and obtaining despair. He would LOUDLY support someone trying to beat him while fighting them. xD But, I think he also has great leading skills as a manager, he can lead large aggressive groups of people and also power them up with “It”. Personally, I’d think he’s a really successful remnant.

==

“Remnant teruteru please? You don’t have too if don’t want to, also your sakura art is amazing and the animation you did for her birthday was really cool.” [Anon]

==

First, thank you very much! Im actually planning another animation as we speak ;D

But anyways: I’ve drawn what a battle with him looks like in [this post] but Teruteru would definitely be a remnant working in the sidelines or away from public eye. Having the ability to control food production is very powerful, especially when it comes to desparate people fighting for their lives in the real world.

==

“How would things go if Makoto was the one to capture the remnants? [Anon]

==

I mean, there’s a reason why my AU is called “Roaring Cherry Blossom” and not….”Lucky strike” or something xD I’ll take away the point to my game idea if I do that.

But, the real answer is that he can’t do it JUST on his own and helps with the future foundation. They likely have better qualified people to capturing them physically and Makoto would likely be more of a supporter.

==

“What do you think would happen if Hina was up on Remnant Sakura’s back?” [@ terrariacalamityvibes]

==

Okay with Nekomaru, I can see Makoto having a chance to get on his back cause he welcomes the challenge. There is no way Sakura’s quick reflexes would allow Hina to get on, or even approach, without serious consequences; she WILL kill her.

===

“Ok but like…… all the V3 kids would be terrifying as Remnants.”[Anon]

===

Sure, anyone under despair can be scary, but compared to what other characters could achieve if they were remnants, I’d argue only like half of the V3 cast would be TRULY scary. (assume the made-up stories were real for a moment)

  • Miu: Probably the strongest remnant of the V3 cast just because she can create powerful machinery, upgrade existing machines, and likely hack like Chihiro. In a world reliant on technology that is being killed by Monokumas, a robot, that is VERY strong.
  • Keebo: With Miu’s help, he can get many upgrades and destroy so much with that power.
  • Maki: Ultimate assassin. Do I need to say anything else?
  • Angie: She’d be a very effective despair cult leader. Manipulation towards desperate people is very strong, and this current world is full of them at the moment.
  • Kirumi: She’s the current prime minister, that alone is a lot of power. Plus if I remember correctly, Kirumi is no stranger to using weapons for her tasks.
  • Gonta: You cannot escape bugs no matter how safe you think your bunker is. And Gonta can control them. Even if you DO somehow manage to kill all of the bugs in your house, the hundreds of bugs around your location could send messages to other bugs until they reach Gonta. (or someone else on the team) So have fun dealing with that.

==

“Now I’m more curious about the V3 cast as remants. Would Shuichi, Maki, and Himiko be part of the Future Foundation? (since well… they’re the survivors) Or would they also be remants?” [@ foxygalactic]

==

I LIKE to believe they would be part future foundation because they’re survivors so I drew it as such, but honestly with how ambiguous the V3 ending is, I can believe either. Shuichi would have a similar role to Kyoko in the foundation, Maki would be part of the guards or special attack force and Himiko…… does her best xD

As a remnant, Maki’s power is pretty obvious but I’d like to make a case for Himiko. There are tons of magician weapons she could use like saws or swords as well as being an expert trap layer due to her practice with tricks. Himiko with setup time is a loooot stronger than you might think. I mean- she uses real magic. Ofcourse, mages are SUPER powerful towards mortals so she’s the strongest. But also Shuichi would be one of the tacticians for sure, not much else to say really.

Thank you all for waiting patiently by the way!

WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?

Personally, I always believed that the reason Touko developed such intense feelings for Byakuya in such a short amount of time is due to Genocide Jack.

Genocide Jack states in her FTEs that her feelings for Byakuya are pure love.

„To be honest, this is the first time I’ve ever had feelings for someone, but not wanted to kill them… […] But Master’s something special. It’s not about killing or not killing. It’s not that physical connection…
My feelings are totally pure this time! Yeah! It’s pure love! […] I wouldn’t even mind not killing any other boys, if it meant I could be with him!“

Personally, for me, this always implied that she has actual romantic feelings for him and not just a crush based on looks and/or money.

The reason I stated this is that it’s said in UDG that Touko and Genocide Jack share the feelings they have for other people. (When Nagito forces them to switch hoping Jack would attack Komaru, but she didn’t because since Touko saw Komaru as a friend, she did too.)

And in THH it’s stated that Jack remembered everything from her time at Hope’s Peak: The school days, the tragedy, everything up until the memory wipe. That is the case because she doesn’t share her memories with Touko and it were Toukos memories that Junko had taken away.

Touko and Jack both knew Byakuya for two years prior to the game, which is a perfect valid time frame to develop healthy romantic feelings for someone, especially since one year normal school life is also a pretty avarage way to form relationships.

And Jack remembers these two years, she remembers how they all spend time together and they might’ve started to become friends etc.

For Jack it’s never been „Oh hot rich boy, instant crush“ at the start of THH (even though that still could be possible, but it’s shown in one of the group photos from that last trial, that she had something going for Byakuya even during the school years), for Jack Byakuya was someone she knows for two years and still acted the way she did.

But what does that mean for Touko? If they share feelings, it would mean that Touko would share Jacks intense love for Byakuya from the very start of THH without remembering WHY she has these feelings, because unlike Jack she doesn’t remember the last two years. For Touko it’s kinda like love at first sight, she probably just randomly notices these super intense feelings for someone she just met, which of course would lead to some weird unhealthy obsession in the beginning, because she can’t even explain her own feelings and why she has them.

Jacks feeling brimming over to Touko without her remembering how she developed these feelings in the first place is probably also the reason why she over steps his boundaries in the beginning so much. She probably has no idea how to handle these feelings, which is totally understandable, I’d say.

On another side of things, in SDR2 it’s said that the Future Foundation helped the survivors to recover their lost memories. So during SDR2 and probably also UDG Byakuya and Touko both should remember the two years at Hope’s Peak. And what also happened in these games? Their relationship improved.

Byakuya makes a device for Touko so she can force front Jack in case she needs too. Touko becomes more independent in order to help Byakuya out etc. (Also remember that line where Kotoko is like „Oh you mean that guy that looks like he has beautiful nipples?“ and Touko is all like „That has to be Byakuya“ implying she has seen him topless at one point (which isn’t such a big deal since Byakuya is a guy, but combined with the „Don’t ask why we come together“ - „I wear red lingerie“ it is something))

Furthermore, in DR3 it’s shown that they apparently video chat from time to time. When Byakuya calls Touko immediately knows it’s him (apart from that a reunion scene was planned but was cut due to time)

And in SDR2 you could even argue that others know that there is something going on between them. Kyokos remark about „Someone is waiting for you to return“, clearly meaning Touko, to encourage Byakuya to go back with them. And we know Kyoko isn’t someone who would make such a statement to tease someone (she was the one who said that Byakuya should start to consider other people’s feelings and to not treat them lightly, so I doubt she would say something to purposely hurt him, which she would’ve if Byakuya had actual negative feelings towards Touko.

So, remembering the school years imrpoved their relationship, which is interesting.
