Written when Shadows Over Innistrad had been announced, but before we knew for certain whether the Eldrazi would be involved. I intended this to be compatible with established canon but since I didn’t know how the actual plot would go I ended up missing pretty severely. Still, I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written.
Forewarning: This is written in present tense. Why? Well for some reason I couldn’t get the opening line out of my head and it didn’t sound as cool in past tense. I’d never written anything in present tense so I decided to just go with it.
