Green Bay Packers defensive end Reggie White laughs as he shares a tub of popcorn with quarterback Brett Favre during a meeting on Oct. 20, 1995 at Don Hutson Center in Green Bay, Wis. White, a 13-time Pro Bowl defensive end and one of the best in NFL history, was born 55 years ago on Dec. 19, 1961. He died at the age of 43 on Dec. 26, 2004 after suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Fifty years ago on Jan. 15, 1967, the Green Bay Packers played the Kansas City Chiefs in the first AFL-NFL World Championship Game, known retroactively as Super Bowl I. Despite ticket prices of $6, $10, and $12, more than 30,000 seats at the Los Angeles Coliseum went empty for the “world championship.” The Packers won 35-10, with Bart Starr’s 250 yards passing and two touchdowns, both to Max McGee, earning him the MVP.  (Neil Leifer)
