When I was in scouts my dad was very insistent that I had to finish getting the birdwatching merit badge and his strategy to accomplish this goal was to drag me out into the woods and point at different birds and ask “What kind of bird is that?” and get more and more frustrated every time I said “I dunno, man. ’S a bird.”

Finally toward the end of the day I says at him, I says “Boss, I really don’t know why you think I know what all the different kinds of birds look like. Why would you think I know that?” and the man just stared at me blankly for a solid minute before admitting that this had never once occurred to him.
