LIVE

All right y’all, I don’t normally post political stuff here, but it’s time.
For those of you who don’t know, I’m a liberal feminist GQ/NB academic, I teach at a college that is dedicated to serving undocumented students, and I’m mad as hell.

So I joined up with Artists Against Hate (because we’re a Thing) and you can join us on Facebook, and in the streets.

On Inauguration Night, we threw one hell of a protest show, which included a dozen of Chicago’s finest acrobats, belly dancers, fire spinners, magicians, musicians, and visual artists. We SOLD OUT the venue, and donated all the proceeds to the ACLU.

If you’ve got ideas, actions, protests– hit me up.

Oh look, it’s me.

Oh look, it’s me.

Boyfriend: Ah, time for a nice dinner and a low key evening. Finally, some god damned peace and quiet!

Me:

1. Make more art. Carry the sketchbook everywhere, and draw or doodle something in it every day.

2. Engage in better self-care. Recognize when I’m focusing too much on work (ALL THE TIME) or things I can’t control (ALSO ALL THE TIME) and take time for myself.

3. Be more compassionate and encouraging with the important people in my life: students, friends, family, colleagues, and self.

4. Practice the drums for at least 30 minutes every day.

Hey how y’all hoes doin?
