538 now has DJT with a 55% chance at winning over Hillary.

I think I’m in shock right now.

On another note, with it being projected that the Repubs are probably going to retain the House and the Senate – expect obstructionist politics for at least the next 2 years, if Hillary does win (and absolute doom if HE wins, omfg).

I think if Hillary does win we need to hit the ground running for the next two years to try our damnedest to get Dem control of the Senate and House next time – what’s the point of having her as president if she keeps getting marred in gridlock?

Hillary Clinton to the Des Moines Register: “ We also have to make sure all Americans have their voices heard. I’ve proposed a small-donor matching system for presidential and congressional elections, because you shouldn’t have to court huge donors to run for office, and you shouldn’t have to be a huge donor to make an impact.”

I like that they used the picture that’s (at least to my knowledge) primarily associated with the meme that calls her out for being a Young Republican supporting a man who voted against the Civil Rights Act.

Also how star struck she looks. Way cute, tbh.

It’s funny how Hillary Clinton will nae nae on stage, reference Beyoncé, try to court Latinos by saying she’s an Abuela, reference Star Wars, and literally change her accent depending on her audience, doing anything to appeal to everyone yet an old, unfashionable, unkempt, Jewish, socialist is winning with millennials by a 2-1 (and growing) margin just by being true to himself. Hmmm

The problem with Hillary and the people running her campaign is that they are running on the same mindset as everyone of that generation: they truly believe that millennials and younger voters “only care about memes” and are uninterested in politics or making the world better. What they don’t understand is that this younger generation isn’t uninterested in politics or the political process, but that they see American politics for what they are: a game of broken promises, where you can barely differentiate between liberals and conservatives as this point. The Democrats and Republicans running for office are all more invested in the interests of the rich and powerful than they are of the people. This generation isn’t untierested in politics, it’s just tired of playing a game that is clearly rigged. The reason Bernie is wrecking every other Democratic candidate with young voters is because he’s actually speaking about issues that this generation cares about, mirroring their fears and anger, and providing plans for possible solutions to problems like income inequality, the rising cost of higher education, the racism embedded in our social systems, the rising cost of living with no rise in wages anywhere on sight, etc.

You can whip and nae nae all you fucking want and wish the Force to be with me, but what I really wanna know is why students are leaving universities with $30K+ of debt to a shit job market to be underpaid for their skills, or why our police departments are being given access to military grade weaponry, or why black people can’t drive without being harassed by police officers, up to a point where they will sometimes end up dead. Hillary can eat me.

We are absolutely shocked that someone attempted to bomb Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, CNN, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz when our sitting president’s rallying cry is “lock them up” and he refers to half the country as an angry mob and harasses his opponents in unhinged, 1 AM Twitter rants. How could this happen? Didn’t see it coming. Such a surprise.

Last Tuesday, during a Guardian Live interview, Hillary Clinton said the United States remained in a “real battle for our democracy” against pro-Trump forces on the far right who are seeking to entrench minority rule and turn back the clock on women’s rights.

“I do believe we are in a struggle for the future of our country,” she said, adding that "the January 6 insurrection at our capitol was a terrorist attack.”

Her words reminded me of the warning she issued back in September 2016 — that Trump had “lifted up” and “given voice” to the “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic” parts of America. He had legitimized them, she said, with his “offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric,” and she noted that “their websites that used to only have 11,000 people, now have 11 million.”

She was widely criticized at the time for demeaning Trump supporters. I suppose calling them “deplorables” wasn’t the best way to earn their affection and votes.

But her overall concern was exactly right. She still views America’s central challenge as a battle over hate and intolerance, and she’s still right.

I first met Hillary Clinton in the fall of 1966 when she was a college sophomore named Hillary Rodham. (Five years later I introduced her to Bill, but that’s another story.) She had long hair and thick glasses, and an infectious laugh. She was president of her class and I was president of mine. We were both interested in reforming American education. I invited her out — not so much for a date as a kind of presidential summit. We went to the Nugget Theater in Hanover, New Hampshire, to watch Antonioni’s film “Blow Up.” That’s all I remember.

Fifty years later, when she ran for president, a reporter from the New York Times phoned me. He had come across some of her letters from college. In one of them she mentioned our “date.”

His voice grew serious. “Is there anything you can remember from your date with her that might shed light on how she would perform as President?”

I didn’t know how to respond. This was the New York Times, for crying out loud.

I told him we had gone to see Antonioni’s “Blow Up.”

“Anything else?” he asked.

I paused. “I probably shouldn’t be saying this…”

“What’s that?” I could hear the eagerness in his voice.

“She wanted an inordinate amount of butter on her popcorn.”

There was a long silence.

“Hello?” I asked, fearing my lame attempt at humor had put him off.

“Still here,” he said. “Just writing all this down.”
