While doing posts on contemporary regional Indian period movies, I made a rough list of Indian period films. These are listed below. Some are historicals but the bulk fall into the 19th and 20th century.  The list is fairly rough so feel free to add more, especially if they are in languages other than Hindi.

On the 29th of June, 1985,  LGSM and Welsh miners striking in the 1984-5 national Miner’s Strike led London’s Lesbian & Gay Pride parade. They marched with the ‘Lesbians & Gays Support the Miners’ and miners’ banners, such as the ‘Blaenant Lodge’ banner. As the largest group to march, they were asked on the day to lead - on the 30th anniversary in 2015, it was Barclays Bank who led the Pride in London parade.

genderqueerpositivity:

(Image description: a pink triangle centered on a black background, pink text reads “we remember and honor our queer ancestors”.)

readingqueerhistory:

“…Another tricky thing about researching queer history is that our ideas about gender and sexuality have continually changed over the last 150 years, leading to a nearly endless string of forgotten terms such as tribade, urning, gynander, and invert. Other words have stayed in usage, but their meanings have radically changed, such as bisexual, which once meant roughly what we mean by transgender today. When you add in all the euphemisms, slang words, and legal categories, it becomes easy to miss (or misunderstand) queer history, even when it seems obvious.”
