Making progress on that emergency commission backlog

Nightwhisperer, the third mage, is a mysterious nobleman from the Shadowlands, whose family participated in the Civil War on Malekith’s side. No one knows why (and Nightwhisperer won’t tell anyone, of course) and how they have changed sides, but like most of the old Nagarythe families, Nightwhisperer’s family swore eternal revenge to the Druchii, left their homes and began to fight a silent war against Malekith’s servants. Nightwhisperer never told someone his real name and according to rumours, he doesn’t even know it. He is well-versed in the Lore of Shadows and the Lore of Death. I plan to give him a scythe, following all death mage clichés.

Nachtflüsterer, der dritte Magier, ist ein mysteriöser Adliger aus den Schattenlanden, dessen Familie im Bruderkrieg zuerst auf Malekiths Seite stand. Niemand weiß, wie (und Nachtflüsterer wird es auch niemandem verraten) und warum sie später die Seite wechselte, doch wie viel der alten Familien aus Nagarythe schwor Nachtflüsterers Familie den Druchii ewige Rache, verließ ihre Heimat und begann einen stillen Krieg gegen Malekiths Gefolgschaft. Nachtflüsterer hat nie jemandem seinen wahren Namen verraten und es gehen Gerüchte um, er kenne ihn nicht einmal selbst. Er ist versiert in der Lehre der Schatten und der Lehre des Todes und allen Klischees eines Todesmagiers folgend, möchte ich ihm noch eine Sense in die Hand geben.

The second of my four mages, Yladra of Hoeth, the Maid of Dawn, is a conversion I made nearly half a year ago. Her body is based on the mage contained in the Island of Blood starterpack and, as I had him twice because I bought the Elves from this box on eBay after I already had the box, I decided to build another mage. So I took some Green Stuff and changed the mage’s gender. Today I would say I could have taken less Green Stuff for the breasts, but it was my first try, so nevermind. Her spear is from some Wood Elf, I do not know exactly which one and the orb-wand is, like her head, from the dragon mage, I think. Her hair is simply the tail of one of the horses from the chariot. I made a Lion Chariot, so the horses were left over and I could use the tail. Yladra uses either the Lore of White Magic or the Lore of Light, but rather the White Magic as I use it more often than Light.

Der zweite meiner vier Magier, Yladra von Hoeth, die Maid des Morgens, ist ein  Umbau, den ich vor etwa einem halben Jahr gemacht habe. Ihr Körper basiert auf dem Magier aus der Blutinsel Starterbox, den ich zweimal hatte, nachdem ich mir noch einmal die Elfen aus der Box bei eBay geholt habe. Also habe ich mich entschieden, einen anderen Magier daraus zu bauen und mit ein wenig Green Stuff sein Geschlecht geändert. Heute würde ich sagen, ich hätte weniger Green Stuff für die Brüsten nehmen sollen, aber es war mein erster Versuch, und das gilt als Ausrede. Ihr Speer ist von irgendeinem Waldelfen und der Zauberstab und der Kopf sind glaube ich aus der Drachenbox. Ihr Haar ist einfach der Schweif eines Pferdes vom Streitwagen. Da ich einen Löwenstreitwagen gebaut haben, waren die Pferde über und ich konnte den Schweif nutzen. Yladra nutzt entweder die Lehre der Weißen Magie oder die Lehre des Lichts, da ich aber eher die Weiße als Licht nutze, überwiegt diese.

I’ve been a bit lazy keeping my blog up to date, but today I managed to shoot some pictures of my miniatures. Here’s my current work, the Crusader from my Protectorate army. As you can see, I’m still working on it; neither his mace is coloured nor has he any damaged or rusted parts. I want all of my disciples of Menoth to have a more or less wrecked look like they are currently at war. The Protectorate was born in war and if war is necessary to ensure its existence, there will be always war.

In letzter Zeit habe ich es etwas schleifen lassen, meinen Blog auf dem neuesten Stand zu halten, doch heute habe ich es geschafft, weitere Bilder von meinen Figuren zu machen. Hier ist mein aktuelles Projekt, der Kreuzritter meiner Menithen. Wie man sieht, ist er noch in Arbeit, hat er doch weder einen bemalten Streitkolben noch irgendwelche angeschlagene oder rostige Teile. Ich möchte schließlich allen meinen Jüngern Menoth’ einen mehr oder weniger angschlagenen Look verpassen, als wären sie dauernd im Krieg. Schließlich entstand das Protektorat im Krieg und wenn weiterer Krieg notwendig ist, um seine Existenz zu sichern, wird es immer Krieg geben.

As I promised, here’s Marcuss, fully painted (his base is not finished - shame on me!) and ready to fight for Menoth’ righteous war. In the last picture you find my current progress on my Warmachine models: another Cinerator, Brother Rechart, a former cleric who figured, that most heretics are not convertible with pious words but rather with forged steel. I’m looking forward to paint him and the other three Cinerators (who are still nameless) soon (and finish their bases…man, nearly none of my roundabout 80 elven models is based…I see lots of work upcoming…)

Wie angekündigt seht ihr hier Bilder vom fertig bemalten Marcuss (sein Base ist nicht fertig - Asche über mein Haupt!), der bereit ist, in Menoth rechtschaffenem Krieg zu kämpfen. Im letzten Bild findet sich mein aktueller Fortschritt an meinen Warmachinemodellen: noch ein Cinerator, Bruder Rechart, ein früherer Priester, der herausfand, dass die meisten Häretiker sich besser mit geschmiedetem Stahl als mit frommen Worten bekehren lassen. Ich freue mich schon darauf, ihn und die anderen drei (noch namenlosen) Cinerators bald zu bemalen (und ihre Bases fertig zu machen…man, fast keins meiner etwa 80 Elfenmodelle hat eine fertige Base…da kommt eine Menge Arbeit auf mich zu…)

I continued with Marcuss’ armour and clothes. It should all look a little used and worn, like Marcuss has already sent several unbelievers to Urcaen and defended the Protectorate against a huge number of enemies from other Iron Kingdoms. His robe is white, but dirty and dusty. I brushed mostly with brown and black colours and a dark yellow over the lower part of the robe to create a look of dirt that Marcuss got while his unit marched through swamps or while it was raining and the ground was utterly covered with wet dirt. In his right leg pad is a splatter of blood to be found, the last remain of a Heretic fighting against Menoth’ superior reign. Naturally, his shield does not stay as fancy and clean as it was produced when it has to save Marcuss’ head in of the conflicts, Marcuss is involved in, so some scratches cover its surface, although Marcuss takes special care of the Menofix in the middle, so each time, Menoth’ holy symbol is damaged, Marcuss takes some time after the battle is won (naturally, each battle is won: If the enemy flees or is utterly smashed in the dust of the battlefield, a battle is definitely won - if the Protectorate’s forces are defeated, their blood was needed to fullfill Menoth’ plans. A lost battle is for sure planned by him and he will welcome the fallen as heroes in the other world. All hail Menoth!) and repairs the damaged part of the Menofix. No shield is a better protection against enemies than Menoth’ blessing.

Ich habe an Marcuss’ Rüstung und Kleidung weitergearbeitet, wobei ich versucht habe, diese ein wenig gebraucht und abgetragen aussehen zu lassen, so als hätte Marcuss darin bereits zahlreiche Ungläubige nach Urcaen geschickt und das Protektorat gegen viele Feinde aus den anderen Eisernen Königreichen verteidigt. Seine Robe ist weiß, aber dreckig und staubig. Ich habe hauptsächlich mit braunen und schwarzen Farben und einem dunklen Gelb über den unteren Teil der Robe gebürstet, um den Eindruck zu erwecken, Marcuss habe sich diesen Dreck zugezogen, als seine Einheit durch einen Sumpf oder durch vom Regen völlig aufgeweichten Matsch marschierte. Auf seiner rechten Beinplatte findet sich ein Spritzer Blut, das letzte Überbleibsel eines Häretikers, der gegen Menoth’ überlegene Herrschaft kämpfte. Natürlich bleibt auch sein Schild nicht so schön und sauber, wie er zur Zeit seiner Produktion war, wenn er in den vielen Konflikten, die Marcuss für das Protektorat und Menoth ausficht, ständig Marcuss Kopf retten muss, folglich ist er von vielen Kratzern und Schrammen bedeckt. Marcuss kümmert sich besonders um das Menofix in der Mitte des Schilds und jedes Mal, wenn Menoth heiliges Symbol in einer Schlacht beschädigt wird, nimmt Marcuss sich nach dem gewonnenen Kampf (jeder Kampf ist ein gewonnener: Flieht der Feind oder liegt er im Staub, ist der Sieg eindeutig, sind die Kräfte des Protektorats besiegt, erfüllten sie nur einen weiteren Aspekt in Menoth’ großem Plan, denn sicher ist der Ausgang jeder Schlacht von ihm geplant die Gefallenen werden in der anderen Welt von ihm als Helden empfangen - Preiset Menoth!) die Zeit, die kaputten Stücke des Menofix zu reparieren. Denn kein Schild schützt dermaßen gut, wie der Segen des Schöpfers.

Today I’m working on my new Warmachine miniatures, the Protectorates from the battlebox containing Menoth and Khador, more precisely on a Repenter. First, I removed all the pieces remaining from the casting frame with a sharp knife, as you see in the first picture. Then I glued it all together, except of the head which I’ll add after paintig it. I also didn’t fix it to the base because I’m not already sure about how I’ll design it; either it will be red sand or stone plates like on an old road.

Momentan arbeite ich an meinen neuen Warmachinefiguren, dem Protektorat aus der Battlebox mit Menoth und Khador, genauer gesagt, an einem Büßer. Zuerst habe ich mit einem Cutter alle Gußgrate entfernt, das Ergebnis sieht man auf dem ersten Bild. Danach habe ich alles außer den Kopf angeklebt. Der Kopf wird später dazukommen, damit ich ihn vom Körper losgelöst besser bemalen kann. Der Büßer ist auch noch nicht fest auf der Base, da ich noch nicht sicher bin, wie ich diese gestalten werde, ich schwanke noch zwischen rotem Sand oder Steinplatten, die einen alten Weg darstellen sollen.

A WiP picture of my Repenter. The work that has to be done is the upper part of the exhaust pile and the waisting. People who know the Repenter model, might notice the fire coming out of the flamethrower which is not on the standart  model. Ironically, this fire was once meant to be part of the Frostheart Phoenix from my Warhammer High Elves but I decided to put the throne on the Phoenix’ back so this was a leftover and I rasped it until it fitted in the flamethrower’s opening.

Ein WiP-Bild meines Büßers. Es fehlt nur noch der obere Teil des Auspuffs und der Verwitterungseffekt. Leute, die das Büßermodell kennen, werden das Feuer am Flammenwerfer bemerkt haben, das dort eigentlich nicht hin gehört. Ironischerweise war dieses Feuer ein Teil des Frostherzphönixes der Hochelfen von Warhammer, aber ich habe dem Phönix lieber den Thron aufgesetzt und so war dieses Teil über und ich habe es so lange zurechtgefeilt, bis es in die Öffnung vom Flammenwerfer gepasst hat.

The first update since months, I got a new computer and for some reason it’s missing a SD-Port and now I can’t transfer pictures from the camera to the computer, so I have to use the tumblr app on my phone.

This is High Exemplar Kreoss, my very first Warcaster and thus my army’s leader. There are still shades and scratches to add, but the basis is done.

Das erste Update seit Monaten. Ich habe einen neuen Computer und aus dubiosen Gründen hat er keinen SD-Port und ich kann keine Bilder mehr von der Kamera auf den PC ziehen, also muss ich jetzt die tumblr App nutzen.

Hier ist der Hohe Exemplar Kreoss, mein allererster Warcaster und somit der Anführer meiner kleinen Armee. Ihm fehlen noch Schattierungen und Kratzer, aber die Grundlage steht immerhin schonmal.

As I am currently not getting any further with my outstanding paintjobs, I made some photos of an older work of mine: the High Elf Prince on Dragon, Talhar of Sunpeak. Of course, this Prince is from Caledor. like almost every Dragonrider. He was born as the third son of a less mighty Lord and brought great honor for his house when he succeeded in waking up one of the very old dragons, Sefnyr, the Blazing Nemesis who once set a whole city of the Druchii on fire.

By the way, I refuse believing in the End Times and the drowning of Ulthuan. For my Elves, the Asur and Druchii are still at war and the End Times plot never happened.

Da ich aktuell mit meinen zu bemalenden Figuren nicht wirlich weiter komme, habe ich ein paar Fotos einer älteren Figur gemacht: dem Hochelfenprinz auf Drachen, Talhar vom Sonnengipfel. Natürlich ist dieser Prinz, wie nahezu jeder Drachenreiter, aus Caledor. Er wurde als dritter Sohn eines kleinen Fürsten geboren und brachte große Ehre für sein Haus, als es ihm gelang, einen der sehr alten Drachen zu wecken, Sefnyr, die lodernde Nemesis, der einst eine ganze Stadt der Druchii in Flammen setzte.

Übrigens weigere ich mich, an die End Times zu glauben und dass Ulthuan versunken sein soll. Meine Elfen befinden sich noch immer im Krieg mit den Druchii und der ganze End Times Plot ist so nie geschehen.

I finished the High Chaplain today. Praise the Emperor.

By the Emperor, that’s fantastic.

What a great idea to use the crackled ground colour to create an icy underground. I doff my hat to you, Mister.

The finished Crusader, having this used look with scratches and dust like the Cinerators. The head is still missing because I’m not sure if I like it or not. This Crusader named “Hand of Sulon" is in use since the very first years of the Protectorate and is - due to the Warcasters’ good care - in excellent condition. Over the decades, thousands of skulls were smashed under the Hand’s heavy mace and if nothing too bad is about to happen, more are to follow.

Der fertige Kreuzritter hat den gleichen abgenutzten Look mit Kratzern und Dreck wie die Cinerators. Der Kopf fehlt noch, da ich mir selbst noch nicht sicher bin, ob mir das Design gefällt oder nicht. Dieser Kreuzritter, die “Hand von Sulon” ist bereits seit den frühesten Jahren des Protektorats in Benutzung und ist - dank der guten Pflege durch die Warcaster - in exzellenter Verfassung. Über die Jahrzehnte wurden tausende Schädel unter dem schweren Streitkolben der Hand zertrümmert und sofern ihr nichts allzu Schlimmes widerfährt, werden diesen Schädeln noch viele weitere folgen.

More models from the time I began painting, two units of archers. I haven’t got much to say about these models, I just painted them nearly two and a half year ago and led them sometimes into battle where they never were that successful. Strength 3 is not that mighty against most enemies I have to fight (Warriors of Chaos, enough said) and often they just filled points in the core section because I didn’t have enough spearmen.

Mehr Modelle aus meiner Anfangszeit, zwei Einheiten Bogenschützen. Ich kann nicht viel zu ihnen sagen, außer, dass ich sie vor etwa zweieinhalb Jahren bemalt habe und sie manchmal in die Schlacht geführt habe, wo sie allerdings nie viel gerissen haben. Stärke 3 ist gegen die meisten meiner Gegner (Krieger des Chaos…genug gesagt) nicht allzu mächtig und so haben die Schützen oft nur Punkte im Kern gefüllt, weil ich nicht genug Speerträger hatte.

The last mage, Caladris, is just the normal mage form Island of Blood. He was one of the very first models I painted and I did not give him a special Lore. To be honest, I don’t use him in battles anymore since I have other mages that look better and whose outer appearance fit more to the Lore they represent. Anyway, he is partof my magic arsenal and so I presented him with the other mages.

Der letzte Magier, Caladris, ist der normale Magier aus der Blutinsel. Er war eines der ersten Modelle, die ich bemalt habe und ich habe ihm keine spezielle Lehre zugeordnet. Um ehrlich zu sein, er kommt auch nicht mehr mit in Schlachten, seit ich andere Magier habe, die besser aussehen und deren Äußeres mehr mit ihrer Lehre vereinbar ist. Trotzdem ist er Teil meines magischen Arsenals und ich wollte ihn mit den anderen Magiern präsentieren.

Finished painting up 27 Screamers of Tzeentch to Hero Level! I’ll only say that I’m very happy with these guys.
