I have done a bunch of not so picture-worthy work in the last few days. Here are some of my re-written notes and a shot of the weekend weather :)

7th-9th October 2017 (6-8/100 Days of productivity)

Turns out working while studying is actually a good idea for me. At least my head feels less like it’s gonna explode with worries after two days at work. I spent the entire weekend reading as well, so I have managed to make some progress with the first book. Here’s to the second week of the academic year =)

5th-6th October 2017, 4-5/100 Days of productivity

re-writing notes, reading and taking notes… I decided to still work Friday and Saturday and it is not easy to do both work and school, but it keeps my school-related stress at bay so there’s that :)

2nd-3rd October 2017 (1-2/100 days of productivity)

Autumn is here and the academic year started. I am really happy to be back at school, even though I am a bit worried about burning out again. I have gone back to re-writing notes and that is mainly what I do these days as it helps me digest everything, but I’ve also picked up books for the next few weeks… Assigned reading has no chill…

Had any “I am such a history major/buff/fan right now” moments recently? You know what to do… send them in! I can’t figure out how to get an ask box (because I am from the 1800s apparently and can’t use a computer… I’ll work on it) but if you shoot them to my inbox, I’ll put them up!

I industriously put off writing an abstract for the paper I’m presenting at a conference later on this semester for the past week. Then it only took me ten minutes. Maybe I’ll get on it faster next time.

Lesson: Writing abstracts isn’t that bad.

Happy New Semester, everyone! Today was the first day of my research based seminar class… it’s crazy exciting to be starting on my thesis, though also borderline terrifying. It’s with my favorite prof though, and he’s super cool and helpful so I should be good. I have a feeling that the archives are about to become my best friend (as though they weren’t already…) What history classes do you have this go around?

Pretty sure I scared my US prof once. All I did was ask him about an article I found in Harpers Weekly from 1864… you would have thought I grew an extra head. Now he knows me, and isn’t surprised by things like this anymore.

My poor history major blog. I’ll get back on it, I swear… this semester has eaten me alive! Just finished my thesis/term paper for Geography and History of Russia and the Former Soviet Union (longest class name ever) so now I can breathe for about twenty minutes before I have to catch up on everything else.

I needed eight books for my Civil War class last year. I brought twenty three. I think I have some kind of disease. If so… I don’t want to be cured!

When ‘Death and the Civil War’ came out last week, I was ready and waiting. Then it was so good and heartbreaking that it made me cry, much to the confusion of my housemates.

“Is she crying because of that documentary thing she’s watching?”

“Yeah, I think so.”

Being a history major is basically hating Christopher Hill and loving R.P. Tripathi and Irfan Habib. At least you understand the latter two.
