LIVE

I love that the writers have a support group for people who were effected and taken by Eva and having Iris be a member of the group and speak to the group shows Iris is ready and willing to take the step forward to mentally heal and that’s so important as a black women.

So 7x04, marks the official start of S7 with the last 3 episodes being the leftovers from S6. Was wondering why Iris’ hair was cut short again.

I would be so mad ‘cause

Death by playing cards? A magician in decked out in leather is how it ends?¿

“I knew you’d find your way back to me.”

“You’ll always be my lightning rod.”

Looks like we got new otp phrases to tag ‘em with!

*me crying in the bath over this later tonight*

Not them paralleling the blue spark moments with Iris and Barry from S1 to right now, not Barry telling a unconscious Iris she’s the reasom he’s the Pargon of love and she’s he’s heart, and not Barry’s love for Iris making him realize she still has remnants of the Speed Force in her from when she was a speedster.

YOU’RE ALL DR. HARRISON WELLS. EVERY. TIME. And I know he’s the Original, the very 1st one, but man, oh man, you highkey don’t need a introduction.

Stop giving me potentially interesting iris plots then not developing them an iota for weeks

Not to be overly optimistic but this is my blog so indulge me -

I kinda do get the storyline of Barry ‘leaving’ Iris after her time sickness revelation in their current growth evolvement

  1. Iris’s statement of “central city needs you” wasn’t said with a sense of devaluing of herself. She was genuinely like, “as much as I love you and want you to be here, you have a job to do that I respect and value too much for you to simply sit here with me when there’s no active issue to attend to.”
  2. Barry leaving said, “you’re not just this ‘thing I have to protect’ like the general population of this city. You’re my partner. My equal. So I trust and value your input in decision making and role as another person.”
  3. he can be there in the blink of an eye at any time so that def takes a risk out of any decision -

At the same time, I get the annoyance of the presentation of the strong black women trope, especially given the common trend of Iris keeping all of these issues from Barry over the last few seasons. She should be able to be sad and scared and vulnerable. And I hope the dialogue thats been opened allows that to happen moving forward. But until that stereotype is fully broken by the show, I can accept that they are putting some effort into giving Iris more agency in a way thats not attached to Barry. And I can accept that this show was never build to be “Superman and Lois” in terms of being about the familial journey of the two of them, as much as many of us may want it to have been.
