Moose are truly terrifying but beautiful creatures- being able to stand 20 feet away from a Bull Moose eating off the side of the highway was one of the coolest things I have ever seen, and definitely the best animal sighting I can remember in Jackson Hole. Rebranding my photography profile, new website is live

A double exposure reflection of the Tetons from March on Ilford HP5 Plus Black and White. Using a technique to slightly underexpose an image, purposely not winding the film to the next frame, flipping the camera over and shooting the same image again. Had a nice sunny day to be able to play around with different settings to get images that weren’t overexposed. I used to try and to shoot these reflections with my toy Holga camera, with limited results. But now I’ve drawn a grid on the viewfinder of my Mamiya m645 with marker to be able to line these up, using a zoom lens to get the mountains to fill the frame and I am absolutely loving the results. Recently got a lot of film developed from a winter of shooting with the Mamiya 645. I feel like a kid opening a pack of baseball cards every time I look at a roll for the first time. You never know when you’re going to pull out an all-star gem like this moose. These guys were hanging out in Antelope Flats frequently throughout the winter, and I was able to catch them for a moment alone back in December before a wildlife tour group pulled up. One more film shot from the late fall/early winter. I have been going out to shoot photos a lot lately and ‘forgetting’ my digital camera. I am so much more in the moment when I have to think through the exposure and composition instead of firing off dozens of bracketed images from all angles. I have been appreciating the scene again as opposed to treating it as something I am capturing and walking away from. Also been enjoying the anticipation of waiting for film to come back, rather than spending hours going through gigs of images that I will never use to pick out the right shot. The Tetons are a truly incredible place, but it’s time to roll.

We leave Jackson today en-route to Driggs, Victor, and beyond. Our exact route is open (just how we like it), but we do know we’ll head to the Sawtooth mountains near Sun Valley, ID.

With ID fishing licenses in hand, we’re ready to enjoy world-class fly fishing, beautiful hikes in stunning scenery, all the natural hot springs we can soak up, and a return to ‘normal’ after finally wrapping up from the #tetonvalleyvanlifegathering.
