Waiting for Spring to sprung… meanwhile 2020 is a whole mess ♀️. The sun shining like this, absolutely had to get out and explore… it’s easy to keep a six foot distance when you’re surrounded by trees and streams for miles. And waterproof boots are definitely the move if you’re the hiking type.

The challenge is in the moment; the time is always now.” #JamesBaldwin These words by the radical and revolutionary man who inspired the #NativeSon movement feel as relevant now as they did when the activist and author originally spoke truth to power. Now, is the time. This was my intention in creating this movement to inspire and empower Black gay and queer men and to make space for us to be self actualized, visible and supported in this world — a world which often ignores us, marginalizes us, and attempts to erase our existence. Well, we are here — and very much alive and well. I am so grateful to see my Brothers owning our identity, amplifying our narrative, and making our presence known. Happy 95th Birthday James Baldwin! Mr. Baldwin is one of my personal hero’s because of his beautiful mind, his brilliant use of language, his spectacular writing, his critical thinking, and fearless activism. He was vocal, vigilante, and active in the Civil Rights Movement. Seeing him speak at Hampton University in Ogden Hall was a life changing experience for me. I chose James Baldwin to be the icon for the @nativesonnow movement because he is the personification and possibly of who Black gay men are and can be — a self-actualized, activist, advocate, artist and change agent. Thank you Mr. Baldwin for inspiring and empowering me to be a leader and activist to motivate my Brothers in the fight for Black gay liberation. This week as a part of the celebrations of #PRIDE and #Stonewall50 I was included in the #StonewallForever digital living monument created by @lgbtcenternyc and supported by @google and part of the @nationalparkservice Humbled to be a part of history for my activism and @nativesonnow doesn’t begin to express my feelings and gratitude.
