Yaga’s technique of putting information into a puppet, which acts as a vessel remind me of granny Ogami’s seance technique.
Ogami summons the body information using the remains of the dead then put it into the body of her grandson who acts as a vessel. In theory, this is similar with what Yaga is doing to his cursed corpses. However if granny Ogami only downloads the body information, then Yaga downloads the soul information instead, so the cursed dolls who acts as vessel regain the identity of people whose information is put into the vessel.
Because he put Takeru’s soul information into the cursed corpse, it can move and talk as if Takeru himself is there. This makes the cursed corpse independent of his master. And so, this technique is an imitation of necromancy, making it illegal in jujutsu world since the current authority is afraid such technique can be used to build an army to oppose them.
Now Panda. Panda is obviously different from Takeru. He was made out of three cores so he must’ve needed information out of three souls. The question is whose souls Yaga used as Panda’s cores? Is one of them his own son who is most likely dead? Maybe the reason he made Panda is to preserve the soul of his son (or maybe children since he said Panda has three cores; Panda himself, a brother, and a sister. This would also explain the compatibility of the souls if they are actual siblings).
Just want to point this quickly
Three ihai or tablets for the deceased. Three souls for Panda, the big brother Gorila, and the big sister. The flower in the tablet for the big brother and sister is sakura, usually symbolizing the beauty of ephemeral life, while Panda has water lily, symbolizing rebirth.
Just a baseless hypothesis here: these three are most likely Yaga’s children who dies young, whose souls he then used as core to create Panda. Ihai usually has name engraved in it, but these three don’t - meaning that the children died before they were given names
