so this the unholy trinity of the modern ‘violently kill off the gay character the moment they got a bit too loudly queer and happy’ trope huh

Oh dear. I loved Killing Eve for getting to show a darker, more complex WLW story but this…

I’m not even opposed to death as an ending but this wasn’t a great choice

i know nothing’s gonna happen tomorrow but deep down i’m still holding out hope that laura neal & co. are smart enough to resurrect villanelle aka drag jesus on resurrection sunday

annieyanfilm:

“Innate self interest” are you fucking kidding me right now?

There was a version where they both lived? Go fuck yourself laura

my biggest flex is that i stopped watching the episode as soon as villanelle got shot underwater so i never watched her die and i never heard eve screaming

doks-aux:

Wait, wait, I don’t go here, but you’re telling me Killing Eve is based on a series of novels that ended with the main characters in lesbians ever after, and the show specifically chose to ignore that helpfully provided conclusion to deliberately bury the gays??

Oh my God, y’all, I am so, so sorry. I only knew your fucked-up little gals from gifsets, but I was really rooting for them.

loving-villanelle:

“Villanelle is a complex individual who struggles to find love with Eve despite being deprived of it for most of her life. When you present a queer character like this, and at the end of the series instill the idea that all that work and suffering has no payoff other than dying in your partner’s arms, that death is still the bleak fate befitting of Villanelle, that Eve (who’s gone through many intense battles in pursuit of this relationship) is meant to end the story screaming in agony, alone, watching her dead lover float away after an out-of-nowhere sniper attack…yeah, I’ll let you figure out how that affects the queer psyche”

Are you listening Rafe? Are you paying attention?

The interviews actually make me feel better because I just have to laugh at how they do not know what they’re doing at all.

Laura saying that Eve dancing at the wedding is meant to signify the normal life that Eve wants and in the end she can do that….You mean the person who has been portrayed as not being her true self before Villanelle and this new version and rebirth makes her feel alive and ‘wide awake’? The person that you’ve had coming fully into their own this season by embracing her dark side and killing people willingly?

Laura saying that Villanelle was shown killing the 12 during that time because that is where she belonged, in amongst the chaos and blood. So in a way the bullet was always coming for her because she had to pay for her sins. When did this show classify people as either good or bad? Why are we suddenly going for justice?

Laura saying that Villanelle taking a bullet for Eve signified her growth and was the ultimate sacrifice…As if Villanelle hasn’t been protecting Eve and refusing to let her be harmed for 4 seasons. That is not anything new. I hate the idea of Villanelle being redeemed and I don’t think they should have gone there, but if you’re trying to show change, at least have her sacrificing herself for someone else or dying for the 12 to be taken down. I would hate that, but it would be logical to your argument.

Laura saying that she hopes people think that Eve is going to start an amazing life upon seeing that final shot. Who the heck would come to that conclusion? She’s just watched the love of her life be killed in front of her. The symbolism of Romeo and Juliet and soulmates throughout this season alone, do not hint at that. Also you expect the audience to believe Eve, who is obsessive in nature and shown her taste for revenge, is just going to move on from this? The same woman that nearly strangled someone to death when she thought she had lost Villanelle only 3 eps ago?

Laura saying the 12 were faceless in the finale to show their lack of importance in the story. Then why the hell did you spend the final season trying to make them important? S4 was literally built around the 12 and getting to the bottom of this story, only to disregard them in the final ep.

I just cannot understand how someone could be so blind and contradictory when they’ve literally written the stuff

I think it’s telling when a writer has 10 different endings and that these endings kept changing up until the last minute. You should have a concrete ending for your story by the time you get to the finale. That should be clear to you at that point based on what you’ve written.

I honestly can’t see the Carolyn spinoff being successful. As much as we all love Fiona and Carolyn is such a great character, the majority of people have been saying for at least the last 2 seasons that the show has lost its spark and that the story should end. I’m not just talking about die hard fans from the fandom, but reviewers and casual viewers alike. So I can’t see how people will be excited to continue this story in some way or another (regardless of whether it’s a prequel or not). They will have definitely lost the core fandom’s views after that finale.

If the finale was good and the 12 plot meaty, I may have been interested in seeing a young Carolyn, but this finale cemented that the writers do not know how to right a cohesive story, so the next project will be just as messy and lacking in explanations. They’ve not told us anything concrete over 4 years, how are they going to do it in 8 episodes?

villaneve-bridge:

One positive about the finale is that Jodie and Sandra put everything into that kiss like they were insane for that

Are they saying Konstantin did kill Kenny? Is Carolyn actually part of the 12? What was even happening?
