Okay, so the collector is “neither witch nor demon, a child from the stars.” That particular phrasing reminded me of something I’d seen before:

Star people (sometimes called indigo children) are a variant of the belief in alien-human hybrids in New Age belief and fringe theory. Introduced by Brad Steiger in his 1976 book Gods of Aquarius, it argues that certain people originated as extraterrestrials and arrived on Earth through birth or as a walk-in to an existing human body.

So star people are aliens who took over existing human bodies. The Collector certainly came from the stars, and as for a human body:

The Collector has round ears. Something that’s constantly emphasized as a human trait. What’s even more interesting is if you look up indigo children:

Indigo children, according to a pseudoscientific New Age concept, are children who are believed to possess special, unusual, and sometimes supernatural traits or abilities… Some parents choose to label their children who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities as an indigo child to alternatively diagnose them.

Some parents use the label “indigo child” instead of getting their child a diagnosis. It avoids the problem: instead of saying your child needs help, now they’re “special.”

So…

What if the Collector was human? Someone who, like Luz, didn’t fit in back at home because of neurodivergence. Their parents didn’t know how to deal with them, just like the parents that call their kids “indigo children.”

One day the Collector stumbles into the Boiling Isles, where they get blasted by whatever thing from the stars makes them the way they are now. Now he has such incredible magic power, the titans don’t know what to do with him either, so they seal him away.

Like, the parallels this would create with Luz, who came to the Boiling Isles because her mom didn’t know how to help her!

I don’t have the brainpower right now to make a completely fleshed out theory or write a ton of meta but. there’s some really cool stuff you could do with this concept.

King and Luz are so clearly Eda’s kids in that they were 100% prepared to lie to and con the hell out of these big bads. Luz’s offer to be Belos’s modern day guide as a ploy to brand him. King’s frankly VERY impressive narrative of this super fun “Owl House” game so the Collector would want to save everyone. These kids learned to lie from the best and holy shit they succeeded.

crazy-kangaroo:

Remember kids, if you are angry with each other for no apparent reason, maybe you’re just hungry

This momma was not, in fact, ready for trauma.

Okay, but like… I haven’t seen anyone else talk about it, but I NEED to talk about this, so excuse my ranting!

Hunter and Philip’s reunion was horrible and terrifying and I hated it, but also LOVED it. For one thing, wefinallygot a Wittebro name reveal and confirmation that Flapjack was his palisman!!

But the thing I really want to talk about right now is Hunter.

As Philip makes one last ditch attempt to gain control over Hunter again, the poor kid is terrified.

Then, after the Collector Splats™ Philip, he is completely mortifiedover what he just saw. Because while it is true that Philip has done nothing but abuse and manipulate Hunter all his life, he was still the one that raised him. He was still the one that Hunter loved, praised, and believed in for all those years. He was still family, in some sick, twisted way.

And then, when all the kids are running toward the Portal, Hunter is the only one to hesitate. Because making it to the Portal means stepping over what (he believes to be) Philip’s deceased remains. After everything that Philip has done to him, the other Golden Guards, and even his own brother–the one Hunter was made after– he can’t bring himself to disrespect Philip’s remains in such a way.

It’s only after Gus and Willow stop and urge him on does he begin to move again.

And even still, he has his eyes tightly shut, as if refusing to look down.

I don’t really have the words to describe how this all makes me feel, but damn… It just really speaks volumes about how much of a better person Hunter–and by extension Caleb– is than Philip. How much kinder, considerate, and caring they both are. It honestly breaks my heart.

YO WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?????
