I knew season 12 episode 3 of Columbo “Undercover” had a rep for being a really weird episode. The cast is stacked and great, but the format is completely non-Columbo . It plays like the pilot episode of a more conventional cop show, like something cushiony for folks who want “Murder She Wrote” but with a touch of grit to it.

But I was not prepared–nothing could prepare me–to see Columbo’s unprompted of kissing Tyne Daily who was playing retired sex worker Dorothea McNally.
