Ever since the start of your junior year, things had been mostly boring and truthfully, lonely. You haven’t been yourself recently, considering what had happened months before. You sighed as you continued your journey to your dorm room after a brief study session by yourself. You concluded that lonely was better than nothing.

You were the first to admit that you weren’t exactly watching where you were going, and that’s what caused you to collide with someone who was walking the opposite way of you. “Sorry, my fault,” You muttered, more embarrassed than anything. You handed the man the notebook that was discarded in the chaos.

You offered a small smile and mentally took note of his features. Whoever he was, you silently hoped you got to see him again. With your past luck with guys, however, you figured that it probably wouldn’t happen and you were way too chicken to ask for even his name. He smiled back at you and you hurriedly walked past him, still embarrassed about the whole ordeal. Your mind couldn’t help but wander to this boy, completely forgetting about your previous thoughts beforehand. Even when you got to your dorm and sat down at your desk, your mind was still focused on the stranger’s features.

You blushed lightly, remembering the way his eyes crinkled ever-so-slightly when he smiled. Here you were, downright giddy at the thought of him, while he probably didn’t even spare you a second glance. Such is life, though, she said to herself.

You woke up the next morning, almost dreading going to your classes. Your counselor advised you to take an economics class to help your marketing major. Side note: your parents chose your major for you and you had no say. What could you do, though? Your dad was a very well-respected board member at the college you were attending and was paying for your tuition. You couldn’t ‘let him down’ with your dreams of being a film-maker with a background in astronomy.

So here you were, standing outside of the math building, trudging along inside as you navigated through the various hallways. You were already ten minutes late, but you weren’t too worried. In fact, you couldn’t give any less of a shit if you didn’t show up at all. Do this for dad, not yourself. Sighing for the hundredth time this morning, you yanked open the door to your economics class, trying not to feel small as everyone’s eyes suddenly averted to you. You scanned over the students in the room, seeing if anyone looked familiar. You couldn’t recognize a single face, that is until you looked in the corner of the room and saw a familiar boy with orange hair that swept across his forehead.

Maybe your luck was finally catching up to you, you thought to yourself. You subconsciously smiled as you entered the classroom completely, dropping the transfer paper on the professor’s desk. “You’re lucky, we’ve got one seat left.” He gestured to the right side of the classroom. Luck strikes again: your seat was right in front of the incredibly cute boy you had bumped into the previous night.

Weaving your way through the rows of students, you subconsciously made an effort to make yourself not look like a complete idiot as you had a reputation of being clumsy. Despite your best efforts, you managed to continuously kick other students’ belongings as you whispered a frantic ‘sorry’ to each one, knowing you were already off to a bad start. Sitting down, you thanked God himself that you weren’t placed right next to the boy, knowing he would be able to see your crimson cheeks.

Hoseok did a double take when you walked into the room. For a moment, he couldn’t recall where he’d seen you before, because it was so brief. But then he remembered - you were the girl he’d bumped into last night and thought about for a good thirty minutes after. Was this some kind of luck catching up to him now? He didn’t question it too much, only thought that he was grateful for a second run-in with you.

He found it really cute when you kept tripping over backpacks and such, and couldn’t help but chuckle. He saw your cheeks turn bright red as you sat down, trying to hide yourself. For the remainder of class, Hoseok couldn’t focus, all he could do was stare at the back of your head and watch all your mannerisms. The way you tapped your pencil while waiting for more notes to be put on the screen. The way you moved your hair out of your face every so often. Even the way you avoided eye contact with the professor when he asked the class a question. He was so intrigued by you and he didn’t know why.

At the end of the class, you were in such a hurry to go back to your dorm, that you managed to leave your journal at your seat. You didn’t notice, of course, but when someone tapped on your shoulder, you flinched as you turned around.

“You forgot this.” Hoseok offered a half smile as he noticed the irony of the situation - last night you were giving him back his notebook, and now he was doing the same for you.

You stuttered like a fool as you awkwardly smiled at him. “T-Thanks.” You managed to calm your nerves a little bit as he smiled more at you. It was almost calming, the way he looked at you. “You’re in economics,” You started, taking a pause. Hurry up and talk, idiot, obviously he knows he’s in economics! “What, um, is your major?”

“Marketing,” Hoseok shrugged. “Super interesting, I know.” He sighed once, watching you listen to him. “You?”

“Me too. It’s not exactly what I wanted to do, but… Things happened.” You answered bluntly, not wanting to go into too much depth to a stranger who wouldn’t really care too much.

Hoseok nodded, unsure of what to say next. An introduction might be in order if he planned on getting to know you better, which he did. “I’m Hoseok,” He started, putting his hand out for an overdue handshake.

You met your hand with his. “Y/N,”

“Well, welcome to economics.” He nodded once more before saying goodbye to you, continuously reminding himself not to go too fast and ask you out before he knew anything about you, even though he wanted to. He really, really wanted to.

As he turned his foot to walk off, you quickly caught up to him and reached for his arm. “Wait!” He turned around and you held your phone out to him with the new contact application out. “Do you think you could help me catch up in the course a little bit? It’s just that I just joined and I’m already really behind, and I don’t really know anyone else. Plus, no one else in that class seems nearly as friendly as you.”

The universe really was doing him a solid in this situation, he thought to himself. Hoseok nodded and smiled simultaneously as he took the phone from your hand. “Yeah, of course.” He handed it back to you after that. “See you around, Y/N!”

Later that night, all the guys agreed to get together to write their next edition of Hoseok’s best-seller. When they all met up in Jimin and Jungkook’s room, Hoseok took note that Jimin seemed particular pissy this evening. “Everything alright?” Hoseok called out, turning his head to him.

“Everything’s peachy, what’s it to you?” Jimin answered, barely flicking his eyes up to face Hoseok. Hoseok took out the journal again, as if to take notes on the situation. “It’s nothing you can analyze, dude.”

“I bet it is. Tell us about it.”

“I saw my ex with her new boyfriend. Or maybe it wasn’t her boyfriend. It was a new guy and I can’t stop thinking about it. No big deal.” Hoseok rolled his eyes at Jimin and waited for him to start his story, knowing there was more to it. Sighing, Jimin sat back in his chair.

“Why are you lying to me, again!?” Jimin was furious. He knew for a fact that his girlfriend of four months had been cheating on him, there was no way that he was wrong about it. “Just tell me the truth, Sujin!”

All Sujin did was deny, deny, deny, but there had to be more to it. “How many times to I have to tell you that there is nothing going on between me and him!” She started, running her hands through her hair as she was very much annoyed now. “Or anyone else for that matter, except for you!”

“Are you even with me, though? That’s a good question, Sujin!” Jimin was almost hysterical at this point. Though he’d let his jealousy get to him in the past, he knew he was right about this. He knew that his girlfriend was cheating on him with a frat boy she’d been talking to. “If you tell me the truth, I won’t get mad. Please, just tell me what’s going on.” That was a half lie, he was definitely going to get mad. He was already mad.

“Oh my fucking god, Jimin.” She answered, banging her hand on the table once. “I already did tell you the truth! I love you Jimin. Why can’t you believe me?”

And then Jimin was silent. He sat with a straight face, offering a shrug once, as if remembering what happened wasn’t hurting him. “So… What happened next?” Hoseok asked, with an eyebrow raised and his pen to the paper.

Nothing. She left.” Jimin looked at the ground. Yes, he missed her of course, but that wasn’t what hurt the most. “I was wrong, too.”

“About what?” Namjoon interjected, actually interested in the story. He didn’t even know that Jimin had ever had a girlfriend before; he’d never talked about her.

“She didn’t ever cheat on me.”

3. DON’T be insecure. Trust is the most important part of being in a relationship. Don’t accuse her.
