Pineapples

I don’t know what this is honestly… @stealth-liberal and I were having a conversation about the fact that pineapples don’t actually make anything sweeter and now I’ve written this.

Maknae line x reader - Jungkook centric

Warnings: Male!Oral

It was quiet in the dorm…. Too quiet.

The elder members had all left for the day on a variety of different projects, leaving you and the maknae line behind. All morning you’d done nothing but laze around on Hobi’s bed where he’d left you, more than a little sore after last night. You were just thinking about taking another nap when you heard them. Giggling… or more gurgling? You almost didn’t investigate. Nothing good ever comes from their giggles, especially when the hyungs aren’t around.

Curiosity got the better of you though. You hauled yourself out of the comfortable nest you’d made in Hoseok’s bed and cracked the door a little to see if you were going to be caught in a crossfire. Finding no projectiles, you forged onward. No boys to be found in the living room, and the laughter definitely hadn’t been coming from their rooms. The only place left was the kitchen

Just as you’re about to open the door you hear Jimin talking.

“I think we can fit more in those bunny cheeks of his Tae… don’t you?”

“I don’t know Chim, he looks a little… full.” You open the door tentatively, not sure you wanted to know how they’d decided to torture your baby today. The sight that greets you is not one you expect. You weren’t really sure what you expected but not this. Three pairs of wide eyes turn to face you, Jimin and Taehyung stepping in front of Jungkook to try to hide their latest experiment. They seemed to have forgotten he was taller than them.

“Why have you stuffed him full of pineapple?” It looked like they’d been trying the chubby bunny challenge, subbing the marshmallows with tropical fruit. You cross your arms, trying to look at least a little bit intimidating. None of them tried to answer you. Jungkook’s face was turning red from the strain they’d put on his cheeks. “Kookie spit that out.” His eyes widen impossibly wider as he shakes his head no.

“Good boy.” Jimin praises him.

“Seriously tell me what you’re doing, or I will call Joon” you threaten.

“Yeah? What do you think he is going to do about it?” Jimin challenges.

“Fine… I’ll call Yoongi.”

“We just wanted to know if it was true.” Tae finally answers you. You throw him a quizzical look, not quite catching his train of thought. “You know, the pineapple and cum thing?” He rubs the back of his neck sheepishly unable to meet your gaze for a moment. You can’t help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

“And to do that, you decided that the best course of action was to stuff Jungkook’s mouth full?” You ask reaching forward and pushing his cheeks together just a little. A dribble of pineapple juice trails from the corner of his lips and you can’t resit the urge to scoop it onto your finger and taste it. “Don’t you think it would work better if he’d just eaten the fruit?”

“Well that’s part of the experiment. He eats it like that, Tae eats it normally, and I drink a load of juice.”

“Right of course, logical.” You shake your head. “And how are you going to test this theory?”

“We are going to blow one another.” Taehyung states, like it’s obvious.

“But won’t you all taste of pineapple? And how would you know who tasted the most pineappley?” They all deflate a little when you point out the flaw in their master plan. “Perhaps you just need an impartial judge?” You don’t give them time to process what you’re saying. Instead dropping to your knees and pulling the waistband of Jungkook’s sweats with you.

You fist the base of his cock, pumping carefully before leaning in to lick along his slit. He moans a little before choking on the pineapple still in his mouth. Jimin graciously pulls a plate off the counter for him to spit the half-chewed fruit on to, but his eyes don’t leave you. All three of them just staring at you. Once he is fruit free, you take him fully into your mouth. A string of curses leaves his lips as you reach the base, swallowing a few times before pulling back.

One hand reaches towards his balls, fondling them gently as your mouth slips back down his length. You gag a little as his hips jolt forward to meet you, and apparently that’s all it takes. Jungkook cums in you mouth, you draw back to make sure some of it gets on you tongue, displaying it for them before gulping it down and standing back up.

He reaches for your hair, but the others stop him. They hold his hands to his side, preventing him from obscuring their view. You look up and watch him squirm in their hold, desperate to take a little control, make you go deeper. You giggle around his cock, the vibrations making him whine and tense. It never takes long to get Jungkook riled up, not like this.

“Hum…. Doesn’t taste any different to me” you say, swiping your fingers at the corners of your mouth before sucking them clean. Each of their eyes followed the movement. “Maybe we will have to try when it’s been in your system a little longer. You give them each one last look over, chuckling at the obvious bulges straining against Jimin and Tae’s pants, before sauntering back off in the direction of Hobi’s room.

It takes each of them a moment to unfreeze.

“Y/N WAIT!” You hear, followed by three sets of feet thundering to reach you first.

A collection of soft scenarios with each of the BTS boys

Namjoon:

Imagine spending the day in a botanical garden somewhere. The day is overcast, but still warm. You’ve gotten to wear your favourite sundress or shorts for the first time in ages. Namjoon walks just a little ahead of you excitedly talking you through plants he recognises. He spent a while researching the plants he’d find just to impress you. Anything he doesn’t know he reads on the little plaques. He spends a little longer lingering around flowers that look like they are about to bloom just in the hopes of seeing the buds unfurl.

You’ve packed a picnic for the two of you to enjoy. Little cakes and sandwiches, homemade lemonade, and a couple packets of crisp all wrapped neatly inside of a blanket so you don’t have to perch on itchy damp grass. You eat quickly and lie back to admire the sky above you, clouds shifting just enough to allow little slivers of blue to peak through. One arm rests behind his head, the other curled behind you as you lay on his chest.

A perfect moment interrupted by one of the gardens loose peacocks getting a little too curious. The bird kept inching closer the longer you lay and eventually you had to move in order to keep your distance. Joon rolls up the blanket and puts it away into a bag before taking your hand to continue your tour.  The afternoon carries on much the same as this morning, except this time Namjoon holds you close as you admire the array of flora. As you leave through the gift shop, he can’t help but pick up a new exotic plant as a challenge for himself, as well as a ‘paint your own pot’ kit for the two of you to complete together later.

Jin:

Imagine attending a cocktail making class. He gets mockingly jealous as you watch the attractive host a little too closely for his liking. He jokes about it for the rest of the evening, feigning hurt feelings. Each drink the two of you make comes with varying degrees of success, but regardless of aesthetic execution they taste delicious.

You get tipsier with each cocktail you are taught 6 drinks in total, but anyone watching would’ve thought you’d doubled it. You descend into maddened laughter at each pun and innuendo Jin throws your way, much to the chagrin of the other guests, who seem to have avoided tasting all of their drinks, saving them for the end. However the two of you decided they were all just being boring.

As the class comes to an end you are offered the opportunity to buy the recipe book and all of the ingredients used. Jin does so with no hesitation with the intent to replicate the fun you’ve had somewhere a little more private…

Yoongi:

Imagine visiting the 'That That’ set and getting to make fun of him with Psy. Watching him go from a producer role to co-star. Giggling with Psy as you two suggest more and more ridiculous cowboy options for Yoongi to wear.

Yoongi giggling every take so they have to shoot multiple times. You not helping the situation when your laughter becomes the loudest amongst the crowd.

Him taking off his cowboy hat and giving it to you in between filming so he can claim you as his. He makes sure you get to keep that hat when they wrap because you’ve become so attached to it.

Hoseok:

Imagine the most chilled out evening of your life. Both of you in sweats and oversized jumpers on opposite ends of the sofa. Your legs outstretched, he sits on your feet to keep them warm. A bowl of snacks rest on your legs for you both to be able to reach.

He sets up a series you had been wanting to watch together but had never found the time before now. You’ve set aside the whole night just to binge watch your way through as much as possible. When the snacks run out, Hobi moves the bowl and slides down in to your lap instead. You remain stretched across the sofa but he has wiggled into the space between the back and your legs creating a nook for himself.

A cold hand snakes under your sweater and lays innocently on your bare stomach as the two of you continue to watch TV  for the rest of the night, falling asleep at some point midway through.

Jimin:

Imagine going to pick Jimin up from a dance practice. He is working on a solo piece for the new album, similar to serendipity but it’s a faster piece. Still his movements are just as fluid, he doesn’t miss a beat as he follows the rhythm across the room, too caught up to notice that you’ve come in yet. All of the boys move well, but there is a liquid quality that is uniquely Jimin’s, a quality that shines when he gets to put all of his energy into his own piece.

He eventually catches your eye in the mirror with a look that suggests he know you were there. Still his effort somehow increases, each move crisper, smoother. He crosses the studio to you and takes your hands leading you clumsily through an unprepared partner performance to a beat you’ve only heard through headphones until now. It’s hard to focus on his body and his voice despite how badly you want to be truly absorbed by both.

He laughs as you stumble, catching you every time your feet fail to keep up with him. He twirls you around long after the song finishes, filling the silence by humming new melodies. The boys from TXT eventually shuffle in sheepishly to claim the space they rented and you and Jimin bow deeply in apology. He takes your hand and leads you from the room.

Taehyung:

Imagine going to paint a pot. You both choose animal shaped money boxes. The idea to create something to save for your future together, even if its more symbolic than practical with the amount of money he makes. You give yours an ethereal garden theme, tiny flowers and vines wrapping around fur patterns in varying shades of green. Taehyung goes a little more abstract.

He paints in primary colours only. The fox he chose is covered in blue and yellow tiger stripes over a fire red base. Something that by all means should be ugly, looks like a masterpiece in his hands.

Each figurine take pride of place in his home, on the shelf next to the TV where everyone can see his most treasured possessions.

Jungkook:

Imagine attending a trampoline park. Watching Jungkook attempt more and more impressive flips from high platforms into foam pits, only to have to help him escape the foamy clutches when he gets stuck from diving too deep.

The two of you would compete to see who could jump the highest, who can do the best flip off the wall, who could do the most swivels. Any game he and you can come up with is played until your calves ache from the effort. Until he plucks you from the air, pushing you into a foam pit.

You can barely avoid him as he tries to jump in top of you, pouting as he realises you moved. Spending time trying to catch your breathes by lying back in the pit and watching the other couples and kids bounce past for a little while.

If you have any soft stan thoughts or situation please share with me I love fluffy thoughts!

Jungkook x Y/N  gender neutral

Teen audience

Request Prompt:  Jk was in bad mood and ask oc to leave him alone. The reader leaves and it starts to rain maniacally like a storm and stuff (oc is scared of this). Jk regrets doing so and starts looking for oc. Oc is in their home, too scared to even speak when jk found her

“I’m not in the mood Y/N.” Jungkook frowns at you. You just thought he was being grumpy, in need of cheering up after a bad day. You thought maybe you could cheer him up with some sweets and a cuddle. Guess you were wrong. From the moment you walked into his apartment, it seemed like even your breathing was annoying to him.

“I was only trying to make you feel better Bun.” You reach out to push a stray hair out of his eyes but he shakes you away.

“I didn’t ask you to do that though.” He grumbles, putting more distance between the two of you.

“I know that… most people don’t ask for someone to be nice to them, I just thought…”

“You thought wrong.” He cuts you off. “Look Y/N I appreciate the attempt I do, but right now I just want you to leave.” He rubs his palms into his eyes, missing the way your lip quivers.

“Fine, I’ll go see what someone else is up to then…” You turn on your heel and march straight out of his home, not even checking if the door shut properly behind you.

You drag your feet along the corridor, hoping that he’ll run out behind you if only to apologise for kicking you out and ask you to go more politely. He doesn’t come, though. The elevator dings and you step inside.

Determined not to let him ruin your mood completely, you reach for your phone with the intention of finding someone else to hang out with. Sadly it seems no one is online to answer the message you sent to the group chat, already busy with other plans for their Saturday night. So, you sigh in defeat and decide to make your way home. Walking was supposed to give you time to think, and make you feel better about your day. Sadly the universe seemed to be a big fan of pathetic fallacy today.

A fat raindrop fell directly in the centre of your forehead as you reached the midway point of your trip. A purely residential area meant there was nowhere for you to hide from the storm forming around you. You try to keep your breathing steady as you walk a little faster, determined to get home and hide from cool. As the wind picks up, you reach for your phone, trying to remember if there had been anything on the news this morning about a thunderstorm.

Ever since you were young, thunderstorms had bothered you, terrified you in fact. Each time the thunder rattled around your home you tried to rationalise and stay calm, knowing that you were safe and warm, but by the time the first bolt of lightning flashed through the windows you were shaking like a leaf.

Your mother used to comfort you by playing loud music and stroking your hair, a method you’d tried to replicate for yourself since moving out of your parent’s home. But it just didn’t provide the same comfort when you were alone.

You click on every car ride app available on your phone, dismayed to find that none of them could offer you solace for over thirty minutes, you’d likely be in the eye of the storm by then.

The rain was coming down hard now, you could barely see ahead of you but you kept charging forward, humming to yourself to distract from the noise around you. The light jacket you opted to wear that day provided little cover from the rain. About half a mile away from home the first roll of thunder clapped around you. It echoed on the houses and down alleyways. You didn’t wait for the lightning, breaking into a sprint in order to escape.

By the time you reached your front door, you were shaking too much to open the lock. Tears had begun streaming down your cheeks as lightning flashed brightening up everything around you and making you jump. You stabbed the key blindly at the lock, desperate now to get it to work, but each attempt missed its target. More thunder brought you to your knees in fear. the cold wet ground immediately penetrating your soaked jeans.

Eventually, the key slid into place and you crawled inside the safety of your home, barely getting the door shut before you collapse into the foetal position on the rug.

You lay they dripping for a long time. Every time your body tried to de-tense, your living room was once again lit brightly by the lightning. You started to lose all sense of the time. The rug below you was wringing wet. It was hard to tell if the shivers were from the cold or the fear at this point. You cried loudly as the front door swung open just as another bang of thunder rattled through the silent home.

“Shit.” You barely register Jungkook’s voice as you curl further in on yourself. “Y/N? Y/N baby?” He kneels on the carpet and reaches out for your arm, trying to coax you out of your cocoon. When you don’t move, he moves you. He drags you into a sitting position and leans you back against the wall. You keep yourself folded up, forehead on your knees. You just about register him scooting closer to you. He straddles you so you are surrounded by him, a hand placed on each shoulder to try and ground you.

“Y/N I need you to look at me, I’m here now. I’m so sorry, you’re safe now.” Jungkook had seen you through a few storms by now, he knew exactly what they did to you. He’d rushed out to find you as soon as he saw the rain. He’d started texting your friends, hoping you weren’t alone wherever you were. When he'ss met with a resounding chorus of no’s he grabs his keys and sprinted to his car, driving slowly along the route he knew you took home. It’s the only reason it took him so long to reach your home, terrified you have been stuck outside and alone just because he’d decided to be an asshole.

Driving up to your home only to find your lights off gave him a heart attack, especially when he noticed your keys still in the lock.

He rubs soothing circles down your arms and begins to hum a song he knows you love in hopes that you’ll join him. It takes a moment but your voice returns just enough to hum with him. It’s not a lot but it’s enough to help you bring your breathing back to normal. You peek up to look at him and are met with an encouraging smile. No longer frozen in place you launch forward into his embrace. His body wraps around yours, pulling you as close as physically possible.

“I’m so sorry baby.” He whispers into your ear over and over as he rocks the two of you back and forth. Eventually the thunder and lightning come in longer intervals, the worst of the storm no longer above you. Sniffling you wipe your nose on your still wet sleeves and realise just how soaked the two of you were. Jungkook was shaking as the cold seeped through his clothes and into his skin but he refused to let go of you.

Peeling back slowly, he releases his titan-like grip around you. His eyes search yours as he holds you at an arms-length, conducting a thorough inspection of your wellbeing.

“I’m okay,” You assure him “We should get off the floor though…”

“And out of the wet clothes while we are at it.” He agrees, pulling you up with him and grabbing your hand. He squeezes firmly and leads the way into your bedroom. He helps you undress down to your underwear and grabs a warm towel from the airing cupboard as you sit on the edge of the bed still a little numb.

He drapes the towel around your shoulders before removing his own wet jumper. Then, carefully, he sits next to you. It suddenly seems like he is scared to touch you. Like you’ll shatter the moment his skin makes contact. So you reach out for his hand yourself and lean in the crook of his neck. More than content to sit in the silence for a little while you close your eyes. Only to reopen them when you hear him sniffle.

“It’s okay Kookie, I’m okay. I got a little scared and overreacted, it happens all the time, I’m okay now.” You try to assuage his guilt.

“I never should’ve thrown you out. You would’ve never been alone. What if you get sick because of it? It’d be all my stupid fault.” he wraps around you and pulls you into his lap. “My bad mood put you at risk.” He litters kisses across your forehead until you swat him away.

“Just know that I don’t blame you Kookie. Now can we just go to be? I’m really sleepy.” You yawn to punctuate your point and he nods, wriggling up to the head of the bed the best he can without letting you go.

“I’m going to spend all day tomorrow making it up to you.” He promises as he flicks the light switch by your bed off.

“I’ll keep you to that.” You mumble back. He pulls you close and you let the warmth of his body seep into your skin, all the adrenaline finally leaving your body as you fall into a deep sleep.

I don’t want this to sound like an ad cause it isn’t but I started writing on this website called 4thewords.com that uses writing goals and time limits in order to defeat monsters, the more you write the better you do. It’s helped me keep on task and I really wish I’d known it’d existed during Uni.

That being said it is only free for the first 30 days, then £3.50 a month after. And even if you don’t want to pay, 30 days/a few different accounts should be enough to get you through finals.

Personally I am able to afford this and have found it a really useful resource to keep me focused because I HATE to lose.

I have a referral code that I’d love if you used (Every user gets one for friends and such) It’s like a mobile game thing where you both get a reward if used:  SHWFP88170

(I know the boys haven’t performed in China… I just wanted a Disneyland date next chapter and I know more about the Chinese one)

There is a whirlwind of movement as soon as the plane lands in Shanghai airport. The flight had been delayed due to problems on the runway. You had been in the air for two hours longer than planned, meaning everyone was now two hours behind on concert prep. You are rushed through immigration. A confusing blur of Mandarin and Korean being yelled around you as people try to figure out the best way to get you all through in time. In the confusion you lose Namjoon. You jump to the next nearest familiarity. Jungkook looks very surprised as you grab onto his arm, immediately searching around for your missing man.

When he comes up empty, he links his arm through yours and signals for you to use your hood to cover your face as best as possible.

“Okay… uh how..? hold on to me.” You do as you are told, better securing your facemask with your free hand. He pulls you through the throng of people. Trying to avoid sasaeng fans and paparazzi as you made your way to the front of the building. You almost make it through without incident. Jungkook tried coaching you to make it seem like maybe you were a stylist. You might’ve gotten away with it, if it weren’t for the girl who managed to run through the security team. She wasn’t passed the barrier for long, but it was enough time to rip the hood from your head exposing you as a foreigner to all the prying eyes around.

Mutters start to rumble through the onlookers. Rumours already spreading amongst them as they try to work out the identity of the mystery girl clinging to the youngest member like her life depended on it. You pull the hood back up, knowing its useless but not wanting them to take any more photos. You keep your eyes on the floor and keep moving forward. You’ve loosened your grip on JK knowing it’s futile but still wanting to come away without too much speculation. He doesn’t let go of you though. His grip tightens as he keeps moving, unwilling to lose you.

As soon as you are out of the main doors Namjoon is at your side. He puts an arm around your waist, peeling you away from your previous protector and ushers you straight into a waiting car. You don’t see the look he gives Jungkook. A look that suggests he is lucky to still be alive. You don’t get a chance to thank your protector as Joon slams the door in his face.

“Are you okay? Did she hurt you? I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to leave you, they dragged me away. I’ll never let that happen again.” He cradles you into his chest, not giving you a moment to reassure him. “I’m going to get you your own security team. Maybe it would be best if for Shanghai you didn’t start working. No one else is ever going to lay a hand on you.” He keeps rambling on petting your hair as if you are the one that needs calming down. You let him. It’s clear he fills guilty for disappearing but there is nothing you can do to assuage that guilt when he won’t even take a breath.

You barely get to see any of the city rushing past the window on the way to the hotel. Its not a long journey, 30 minutes at most from Pudong airport. You are let out of the cars in an underground parking lot, far away from anyone that might’ve been waiting for the band’s arrival. There isn’t a lot of time between now and when everyone had to be at soundcheck. Luckily the tour manager had collected all the boy’s passports in order to check them in and the hotel staff had allowed them to head straight to their rooms to set up. You follow Namjoon into the ornate elevator and he presses the button for the right floor. All this time your hand has been firmly clasped in his. You glance down at where you are joined to see his knuckles turning white.

“Joon, it’s okay, I’m okay. You need to calm down.” He refuses, holding firm. “Namjoon look at me.” He reluctantly meets your gaze. “If you are going to be this worried about me, maybe I shouldn’t have come, after this concert… I should just go home.”

“NO!” the sudden volume scares you a little, he sees you flinch and immediately his usual cheery demeaner is back. “Come one it’s been one day, it’ll be okay. I was just scared because I didn’t want to leave you and I didn’t want you to be afraid. You’ll be alright, I’m just being protective. Please stay, you have to stay.” The elevator dings before you get a chance to address the sudden shift in personality. It’s a short walk down the hallway to your room. Another gorgeous five-star accommodation. The bed was huge, the view spectacular, and there was even a balcony complete with a small garden. There was only one problem.

“Joon, there isn’t a door on the bathroom…” he places his backpack on the bed and looks in your direction.

“Oh yeah… I completely forgot about that. It’s a common feature in Chinese hotels unfortunately. It’s alright though, I’m going to be so busy for the next 48 hours you won’t have to worry about privacy.” He comes back to kiss you on the forehead and slide your own carryon off your shoulder onto his. “Let’s relax for a little while. I have some time before we need to go.” He sets your stuff down and slides on to the bed, patting the empty space next to him. For the next hour you sit in near silence, catching up on social media with a movie playing in the background. Just being able to sit with him is so oddly comforting. For someone you idolised for so long, it feels like it should have been harder to slip into routine, but he made it so easy. It was almost like he thought of you in the same light, something unobtainable.

The band’s deadline came around all too quick. Namjoon packed all of his concert necessities into a bag and kissed you goodbye. It had been decided it was best for you to distance from the band for tonight. Start fresh the next day. This left you with over 9 hours to yourself. First you skimmed through films on the TV, but it was hard to tell which were in English. Next you read through a book on your kindle, it kept you busy for a little while, but it was getting harder and harder to focus. You kept thinking about the stern voice Namjoon had used when you suggested leaving. So deep. So authoritative. Just the memory was proving a very powerful aphrodisiac.

Running a bath and taking care of yourself seemed like the best option, especially if Namjoon wasn’t going to be back for a long time. It’s not like you could ask him to help you anyway, not yet. You fill the large tub with scalding water and find some bath salts amongst the toiletries. You swirl them in before carefully dipping your feet into the water. The bath could easily be big enough for two. The heat and space help you to unwind from the long flight, helping to soothe all of the post flight ick.

Its not long before your finger trail in between your legs working on the other tension you had been feeling. Luckily for Namjoon, this is when he decided to check the room’s cameras.

the fifth summer – in which he saves you

For as long as you can remember, you’ve never been too fond of water.

The first time you stepped foot into a big body of water—also known as, the community pool a few blocks away from your childhood home—you cried. For some reason, a lot of water terrified you. You tried taking lessons once, but your instructor couldn’t even get you to step within five feet of the pool.

And your father never forced you to go back.

Over the years, you’ve tried to lessen the fear. And for the most part, you’re not scared of water anymore. You can sit in pools and be on the beach just fine. The only thing is, you still haven’t learned how to swim.

It’s like your body is just incapable of doing so.

There are only a select number of people who know you can’t swim—Namjoon and Haru, to name a few. Which is why they tried to talk you out of doing the canoe races. The weather is always unpredictable, as you never know what the gods are bickering about. And your friends were right: something bad was bound to happen, which is why you should’ve listened to them earlier.

But your stupid ego always seems to be in the way.

As you sink further down into the depth of the water, fear and anxiety begin to fill your veins. Is this really how you’re going to die? Being a demigod means life isn’t certain because danger always lurks in the smallest of places; however, drowning has never been on your list of possible causes.

What a way to out of this world, y/n.

You could already see Charon waiting for you on that boat of his, ready to take you across the river and into the Underworld. A part of you wondered if he’d laugh at you—laugh at the pitiful way you died. Then again, you’ve heard enough stories to know his expression always remained stoic.

Maybe you’ll even end up in Elysium, though you’re not sure you’ve done enough good in the world to deserve a place there. All you’ve been concerned with these last few years is how to get Jeongguk back.

Jeongguk.

Of course, in your final moments of life, only he would occupy your thoughts. How rude and inconsiderate of him. You should be thinking about your sweet friends or your father—but no, the only thing you can see is Jeon Jeongguk’s stupid face in your mind.

Still, you do find it a bit ironic now; you’re terrified of water—literally drowning at the moment—and he’s the son of the sea god.

Life sure does work in mysterious ways.

***

Jeongguk’s POV

All the screaming makes him turn around.

Jeongguk takes a glance behind him, where Athena’s canoe wades only a few feet away. Most demigods feared weather like this—the wild winds and restless waters only promised destruction. But it doesn’t bother him.

This is his father’s domain and Jeongguk feels at ease.

Until he counts the members of Athena’s canoe and realizes that one person is missing—more specifically, you. For the first time in a while, he actually feels his chest tighten in fear. Where did you go? There isn’t anywhere to go—not for miles. Except—

Oh my god, she can’t swim!

One of the younger campers on your canoe screams this, and Jeongguk feels something hot settle in his stomach. Without a second thought, he dives into the water.

It doesn’t take him long to spot you, and it seems your half-sibling was right—you really can’t swim. As odd as that sounds to his ears, he swims to you anyway. At the sight of your closed eyes and limp body, a weird sensation tugs at his heart. Why do you have to look so damn vulnerable right now?

Jeongguk realizes then that he’d rather take your fire—the way you’re always challenging him and the anger you possessed—over this frail girl any day.

He wraps his arms around your frame easily, pulling you back to the surface without much difficulty. Lifting you into the canoe, he watches as your half-siblings rush to you. After they take one look at your pale complexion, one bursts into tears while the others rush to perform CPR.

For once, Jeongguk feels useless as he moves back into his own canoe that has pulled up beside Athena’s.

“That was impressive.”

Turning, Jeongguk notices another canoe has pulled up—probably wondering what all the commotion was. His eyes settle on the voice, and he tries not to roll his eyes. But when it concerns the son of Hades, he often cannot help himself.

“Don’t start getting any ideas, Min,” he scowls.

Yoongi has the audacity to smirk. “You said it, not me.”

“I did what any person would do.” Jeongguk doesn’t know why he’s being so defensive. He’s never this defensive.

“Right,” Yoongi hums. “Because saving your sworn rival is totally normal.”

Jeongguk wants nothing more than to rub that stupid look on Yoongi’s face away. Just because he is amicable with the son of Hades—a fellow demigod of the Big Three, and therefore someone he could relate to—it doesn’t mean he isn’t opposed to inflicting a hint of damage. Though, before he can do such a thing, there’s a coughing fit coming from Athena’s cabin.

Relieffills him at the sight of you coughing up water. That’s a good sign. You’re going to be okay.

“Let’s get her to the infirmary,” someone says, and Jeongguk watches as your cabin rushes back to shore.

The rest of the canoes soon follow; even though the weather is starting to clear up, and the winds aren’t as brisk anymore, there’s no point in continuing the races now. Not after what everyone just witnessed.

Once they’re back on shore, Jeongguk jumps out of the canoe and his feet seem to move on their own accord—towards the Big House. Towards the infirmary. What? He shakes his head and decides to go in the opposite direction.

“I saw that slight hesitation, Jeon.”

Jeongguk looks behind him, where Yoongi casually gives him a look. He realizes that Yoongi really seems to be getting a kick out of tormenting him today.

“You saw nothing,” he says, turning back around and towards the cabins instead.

Yoongi moves to match his pace, and Jeongguk looks down at the boy donned in all-black. He has no clue why the dress code doesn’t apply to the son of Hades. “Keep telling yourself that. Denial is normal.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Yoongi laughs. “I guess we’ll just have to see how this unfolds, don’t we?”

“But it wasn’t that you necessarily regretted sleeping with Hoseok. No, you very much enjoyed it—maybetoomuch—which is why it was wrong. So fucking wrong.

You have never felt more flustered in your life.

It’s the summer after your first year of college, and you decided to come home—to spend a little time with your mother and her new husband. Well, more like she begged you to come home. You actually wanted to visit your roommate’s family on the coast, and spend your days at the beach, but your mother insisted that you come home instead.

Now that you are home, she doesn’t even have time to spend with you. She and her husband are too busy vacationing; that should’ve been you. You can’t even bear to look at your roommate’s Instagram account. And worse of all, your mother signed you up for a job you did not consent to.

“You did what?”

Your mother blinked back at you, feigning innocence. “I heard from Mrs. Lee—you know, our neighbor down the street that attends the local country club—and she said that they were hiring for the summer. You know how rich people love their golf and fancy dinners.”

“And you just decided to volunteer me?” You couldn’t believe her. “I don’t want to work at some prissy country club.”

“Weren’t you just complaining about being broke last week?” She really did not need to expose you like that. “This’ll be good for you, honey.”

Thus, you found yourself standing in front of the country club not even a week later. They hadn’t even asked you to do an interview; you just talked to a manager on the phone and she said for you to just come in. Honestly, too suspiciously easy but what could you do about it? Your mother had been right—you did need the money.

When you arrived, you were immediately whisked away into training. There, one of the girls, Soyoung, fitted you into the uniform—a plain white polo and khaki shorts—and told you what you’d be doing here.

“So, there are a lot of different areas here,” she began, “as you can see from how big this country club is. So, you might find yourself working in different areas occasionally…but for now, you’re going to be on the course with the drink cart.”

Soyoung explained that as the drink cart girl, you’d be driving a golf cart around while handing out beer and other drinks to the golfers on the course. It seemed easy enough, except you’d never driven a golf cart before…or tried to sell people something. However, Soyoung assured you it was easy.

But that was about an hour ago. Since then, a lot has happened. You managed to get the golf cart to work, but it is considerably different from an actual car. The forward/backwards switches were tripping you up. Because of that, you already knocked over a display…or two.

Which leads you to your most embarrassing moment.

For some reason, you forgot that being back in your hometown means the possibility of running into people you went to high school with. The thought just didn’t seem to come to mind. Being off at university has made you forget about all of those idiots you used to be around every day. Until now, when you bump into one of them. Literally.

You really hadn’t seen him behind you; then again, you weren’t looking, which was probably not the greatest idea. But you blindly backed up and hit him. Not that you were going fast or anything, but he did cause an outburst.

“Oh my—fuck! Watch where you’re going!”

Horrified, you press onto the breaks. Turning around, an apology begins to fall from your lips. “I am so sorry. It’s my first time—”

“Y/n?”

You freeze at the voice; it sounds awfully familiar. Blinking a few times, your eyes focus on the person in front of you. And your stomach sinks. Standing in front of you is none other than Jung Hoseok—the last person you ever expected to see again.

He must see the recognition fill your eyes because he instantly smirks. “Wow, it really is you. It’s been a while, huh? Haven’t seen you since graduation.”

An awkward laugh passes through your teeth. “Yeah…it really has.”

“Didn’t expect to see you here,” his smirk seems to widen, and his eyes travel down to your clothes. “You work here or something?”

“Yeah…just started today, actually.”

He nods appreciatively. “Nice. Well, I’m here almost every day, so, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of each other.”

I hope not. “Sure.”

Just as Hoseok opens his mouth to say something else, someone calls his name. He looks away from you, and that’s when you finally allow yourself a moment to look at him. For the first time, you realize how long a year is and how much change can happen in that time frame. Even though it irks you a bit to think about, he looks really good—even in his damn polo and khakis.

You take in the curved slope of his nose, the way his brows are perfectly arched to match his equally perfect eyes. And you’re almost blinded by his pearly white smile. Perhaps, Hoseok has always been attractive—dark, windswept hair and all. You’ve just never wanted to admit it; even after that one—

“Catch you around, y/n,” he suddenly says, and that’s when you realize he’s caught you. He smirks and shoots you a wink as he walks away, leaving you to mentally kick yourself alone.

***

In high school, you and Jung Hoseok were in different crowds. He was preppy and popular—kind of snooty, to be honest—and you were just normal. Not popular, but not a complete wallflower either. Despite not being in the same circles, you both had a few classes together; which meant that you knew each other decently well. At least, you knew enough about Hoseok that you wanted nothing to do with him.

Except for that one, momentarily lapse of judgment, your conscious suddenly reminds you. But you’d rather not think about that right now.

Another thing about Hoseok that you knew of was his background; he came from money—a lot of it, actually. You don’t know exactly what his family does, but they’re those old money types; the kind of rich people that have been rich forever. Which helped to explain his popularity in high school, and how he had a country club membership now.

You wished you knew that before you got the job here.

As you drive around the golf course, feeling more comfortable driving the cart now, you may or may not be on the lookout for Hoseok. Now that you know he’s here, your eyes seem to search for him everywhere. And it’s not because you want to see him; you want to avoid him, if possible.

It’s not until you’re halfway through the course that you see him with a group of other guys, which—to your displeasure—are also people you went to high school with. It’s fitting though, you presume, considering they were all close then as well.

You don’t know anything about golf, but you watch as Hoseok lines up his club to the ball. He swings only once, and the ball flies. You follow where it goes and watch as it hits the grass and rolls right into the hole. His friends cheer for him as he turns around with a smug look on his face. “And that, everyone, is how you fucking do it.”

“Nice, man,” one person—who you recognize as Jeon Jeongguk—says, moving to pat him on the back.

“The motherfucking GOAT,” another—Kim Namjoon—laughs.

“Maybe you should just go pro or something, dude,” the last guy says, and you recognize him as Kim Seokjin. “Because you’ve hit an ace, birdie or eagle at every hole.”

Hoseok laughs at that. “Maybe I’m just lucky today.”

“Dude probably just had good ass last night,” Namjoon smirks. “So, who was it?”

“A gentleman does not kiss and tell, my friend,” Hoseok winks, and you can’t help but roll your eyes at the banter between all of these men. Disgusting. “But if you really want to know…”

“Not you trying to get Hoseok’s sloppy seconds,” Seokjin speaks directly to Namjoon. “Because we all know how that went the first time with—”

“It wasn’t my fault Katie caught feelings,” Hoseok interrupts, walking back towards the rest of his friends. “I told her it was a one-time thing.”

Jeongguk struggles not to laugh as he moves up to line his club and ball. “And then you introduced her to Namjoon.”

“And she used him to get closer to…” Seokjin starts to say, but then he notices you. You’ve never seen someone straighten up so quickly. “How long have you been sitting there?”

“Long enough,” you say as three pairs of eyes turn to look in your direction as well. “Um, drinks?”

“Took you long enough to get here, y/n. I was starting to wonder when you’d arrive,” Hoseok takes a step in your direction, and you watch as the rest of the guys do a double take.

Namjoon is the first to speak, “Ah…y/n. Yes, I remember you…we had chemistry together, right?”

“Oh my gosh, you were in my calculus class!” Jeongguk exclaims, golf club still mid-air.

“I don’t think we had any classes together,” Seokjin says with a pout. “Because if we did, I would’ve remembered you for sure.”

For some reason, you feel your cheeks get hotter. “Um, thanks?”

You can tell they want to say more to you, but Hoseok shoots his friends a look you can’t see, and they close their mouths immediately. Turning back to you, he takes another step close to your golf cart. “A beer for each of us.”

“Aren’t you all underage—”

“No one cares here, y/n,” he cuts you off with a smirk. “Besides, Seokjin’s father owns this country club—we can do whatever the fuck we want.”

Shock passes through you at this news, mouth dropping at the realization that Hoseok and his friends might be more privileged than you originally thought.

“And we don’t usually have to pay for anything, but”—he fishes for something in his pocket— “here.”

You look down at his extended hand, where a crumpled 100-dollar bill sits, and practically gawk at it. Who carries such large bills around so casually? “What—?”

“Keep the change,” he stares you right in the eyes, and you have no other choice but to accept the money.

“Thanks,” you manage to say before reaching around to grab four beers from the cooler.

As each bottle is plucked from your hands, Hoseok is the last person to grab his; and the way his fingers accidentally touch your own seems like no accident at all. Although it was only for a few seconds at most, his touch leaves your skin burning. Burning for what? You don’t know; but it lingers the rest of your shift in a way that is so distracting, you nearly hit someone else with the golf cart.

***

“So let me get this story straight, you saw a guy you fucked for the first time in a year and now you don’t know what to do with yourself. Worst of all, his presence at your new job is going to be the death of you.”

You cringe at your roommates’ words. “God, why do you have to say it like that.”

“I mean, that’s who he is right?” her voice echoes through the screen.

She’s not wrong, but it still doesn’t sit right with you. “When you say it like that, it’s just weird.”

“Y/n, you act like you haven’t fucked other guys before.”

“Yes, but what happened with Jung Hoseok was a mistake,” you breathe. “It was never supposed to happen.”

Her pixilated expression softens upon seeing your clear distress. “I understand, babe. We all do things we regret.”

But it wasn’t that you necessarily regretted sleeping with Hoseok. No, you very much enjoyed it—maybe too much—which is why it was wrong. So fucking wrong. It wasn’t like he coerced you into that bedroom; you willingly followed him inside. And you can’t even blame it on the alcohol because you had been as sober as the day you were born.

It was graduation weekend, and everyone had come out to celebrate. You really didn’t want to go, but some of your friends forced you. Just enjoy the time we still have together, y/n, they had said. Ironic, because you no longer spoke to any of them.

Around the fire, behind the massive patio of someone’s house, drinks were poured and passed around. Even though you held a red solo cup in your hand, the murky liquid didn’t draw you in; you hated the way alcohol tasted back then. Still kind of do. But you simply pretended like you were enjoying yourself.

Every single part of you wanted to leave early that night, but you didn’t. You ended up staying because of Hoseok. It was something about the way he carried himself at that bonfire that night. Before, you never saw him as anything more than a spoiled brat; however, the flames of the fire seemed to soften him before your eyes. Because before you knew it, Hoseok pulled you away from the stares of everyone else.

You don’t even remember what happened—what you two talked about or didn’t talk about. But something happened before he kissed you. Unfortunately, it’s all a blur now.

After swelling your lips with, what seemed like, a thousand kisses, he told you he wanted more;and you told him yes. The memory of him rushing with you through the house and into a vacant room still burns hotly in your mind. You had been giddy with nerves and excitement as he pushed you against the closed door, sucking the air from your lungs.

Hoseok ripped your clothes off with practiced hands, clearly experienced with this, and made you come undone more times than you can recall. Throughout this whole exchange, not much was said; but no words were needed when he could read your body so well.

The both of you ended up falling asleep like that—tangled in each other’s arms. And when you woke up a few hours later to the rising sun, horror filled your veins like a shock of ice.

You left without saying anything. Not that you think he would’ve cared either way. Jung Hoseok seemed like he would be used to stuff like that.

You just never thought you’d see him again one year later.

But here he is.

***

During your next few weeks at the country club, you try your best to avoid Hoseok.

This, however, proves difficult to do since you can hear his laughter echoing everywhere. From the hallways to the range, you can’t seem to escape him at all. And it doesn’t help that his friends all seem to be around too.

Every time you catch even the smallest glimpse of him, you turn in the opposite direction. You aren’t sure if he can tell that you’re avoiding him or not, but you don’t care—you just want to get this summer over with already.

“Y/n!”

Turing in the direction your name is being called, you see Soyoung walking towards you. You offer her a tight smile, hoping she isn’t here to tell you that you’re in trouble or something. “Soyoung. What’s up?”

“Do you mind helping me clean up a little by the pool? I know you just got done on the range, but a girl called out and I could really use the help.” She gives you this sad puppy look, which means you can’t refuse her offer. So, begrudgingly, you follow her back outside.

In the hot summer sun, the large crystal blue pool looks like temptation. Soyoung notices your face and laughs. At her laughter, you realize you’ve never seen the pool this close. You pass by the canopy lined pool lounge every day, but you’re not a maid here or on lifeguard duty so you’ve never had a reason to linger very long.

“Looks inviting, huh?”

All you can do is hum in agreement as you begin helping Soyoung pick up disserted pool towels and throwing them into the hamper. As you’re bending down to retrieve a particularly wet towel on the concrete, the hot sun beating down your back is suddenly gone. You look up and notice there’s a shadow blocking the sun—a suspiciously familiar shadow.

Immediately, your back straightens, and you turn around to face a shirtless Hoseok. His hair is wet from the pool, which means beads of water are cascading down his chest. You try not to stare, but he’s literally so close; there’s nowhere else to look. Your eyes follow the towel in his hand as he begins to dry himself up, going from his abdomen before they travel down to the dark trail of hair that leads to—

You freeze and force your eyes back up, but the smile on his face tells you that you got caught—again.

“Like what you see?” His smile seems to grow wider at your expression.

You scowl. “In your dreams, Jung Hoseok.”

He leans down, face inches from yours, whispering, “If I remember correctly, that dream already came true…one year ago.”

Before you can say anything, he stands back up to his full height and brushes past you—his naked skin burning holes through your clothes. Once he’s a few steps away from you, you realize his friends were also there the whole time. Embarrassment burns your cheeks at what they might’ve thought, but their expressions remain too ambiguous for you to read as they follow their friend.

“I didn’t know you knew Hoseok.”

Your head whips towards Soyoung. “I don’t…I mean, not really. We just went to high school together.”

But your coworker doesn’t seem to buy it. “Really? I’ve been working here for a few summers and those guys have always been around, especially because Seokjin’s dad is the owner. I’ve tried to make small talk with them a few times, but they’re pretty intimidating.”

“They’re pricks,” you tell her. “Typical entitled rich boys.”

“I suppose so,” she hums, throwing the last towel into the bin. “Anyway, can I ask for another favor?”

All you can do is nod. “What?”

“I have another thing I have to do,” Soyoung starts, making you realize she works pretty hard here, “so, can you put these towels in the laundry room? You don’t have to start a load or anything; just leave them and one of the maids will wash them later.”

She slips the laundry room key into your pocket, telling you to give it back to her later, as she rushes off to her next task. Which leaves you to find the laundry room by yourself. After nearly ten minutes of searching, you find it tucked in a small hallway.

Opening the door, you push the dirty towel hamper into the room. You look around and see multiple washers, dryers, and a lot of storage shelves filled with miscellaneous items. You’re so caught up in looking around the room that you almost don’t hear the door close. At the sound of the lock clicking into place, you turn around; immediately, your heart starts beating faster.

“What are you doing in here?”

Hoseok leans against the door, no longer shirtless like before, and smirks at you. “I was following you.”

Like that’s not weird at all. “Stalker much?”

“Just wanted to know why you’ve been avoiding me, that’s all,” he pushes off the door, taking a step closer. You unconsciously take a step back, hitting the hamper.

“I haven’t been avoiding you,” you lie.

He just blinks at you. “You’re a bad liar, you know that?”

You’re shocked that he can read you so well. “Okay, so what if I am avoiding you? It’s not like you should care. Just leave me alone.”

For a brief moment, something passes over his eyes; but the emotion’s gone before you can think about it. “I don’t think I can do that.”

“What?” Now, it was your turn to blink rapidly.

Hoseok takes another step towards you, severing whatever distance there had been before. His arms move to cage you between himself and the dirty hamper. Slowly, he leans down, making sure not to move his eyes away from yours. “I can’t just leave you alone—not when you’re the only thing on my mind.”

“What are you trying to say—” his hand wrapping around your jaw shuts you up.

“To put it simply, I can’t stop thinking about you—about that night after graduation,” he says, eyes swirling with a darkness you know all too well.

“But that was a year ago,” you manage to say through clenched teeth, and he loosens his grip on you.

His signature smirk lights his lips. “So?”

“I was drunk,” you lie again. “I don’t even remember what happened.”

“So, you’re telling me you don’t remember this?” One hand curves around your hip. “Or this?” Another wraps around your waist. “Or this?” He plants his lips onto your jaw.

You release a harsh breath as the memories of that night come flooding back. Heat begins to pool in your stomach from his touch. As he peppers kisses along your jaw and down your neck, your hands move to fist his shirt. Just as a moan threatens to leave your throat, he pulls away.

Your lips part in indignation at the loss of touch, and Hoseok just smirks even wider. “I thought you said you don’t remember?”

“I’m going to kill you, Jung Hoseok,” your frustration is through the roof.

“Tell me you remember.”

Right now, there are two sides of you fighting. There’s one part of you that wants to tell Hoseok you don’t remember a single thing—that you really had been drinking graduation night. But there’s an even larger part of you that wants him so bad—to feel the same high you felt a year ago.

So, you settle with, “But I’m working right now.”

Hoseok’s eyes turn obsidian as his smirk drops. “I’ll be quick.”

He pulls you away from the hamper and pushes you, stomach first, against one of the washers. Suddenly, you realize what’s about to happen and you try to force the dopey smile off your face by biting your lip. In one swift motion, he unbuttons and pulls both your shorts and panties down to your ankles. By the sudden coolness below, you already know you’re soaking.

And Hoseok must realize this too because you feel him swipe a long finger over your folds. You instinctively jerk back, letting out a moan at the slight pressure. “Hoseok—”

“Fuck, y/n, you’re so wet for me already,” he groans, using a second finger against your wetness. He slowly rubs your clit and you can’t help but tighten your grip against the cool machine. “Wonder if you’ve been wet since we saw each other earlier.”

You roll your eyes. Typical, cocky Jung Hoseok. “Of course not, you douchebag.”

“I beg to differ,” he hums, inserting a single digit inside of you. “So tight—just like I remembered. Tell me, y/n, has anyone else had the pleasure to fuck your pretty pussy after me?”

His words cause you tense for a moment, before replying, “Yes, asshole. I went to college. What do you think?”

“I’m thinking that I’m about to fuck you so good,” he starts and finishes with a whisper, “that you won’t remember any of them.”

If you weren’t already turned on before, you were now. Hoseok continues to fuck with his finger, slowly adding a second one, edging you until you’re a panting mess before him. “S-Stop teasing—I thought you said you were going to be quick?”

“I will be,” he promises, and you can hear him pushing the waistband of his swim trunks down. You’re dying to see his cock again, so you turn and nearly drool at the sight of his angry red tip. For some reason, he looks bigger than you remember and that worries you a little. “What? Think it won’t fit?”

You raise your eyes to look at his, and he has the sexiest expression on his face you’ve ever seen. “No. It fit before, right?”

He licks his lips as he brings his cock close to your entrance, brushing his head back and forth against your clit. You turn back around, arching your back more in hopes that he’ll finally just stick it inside already. But before you can get too lost in the moment, you gasp.

“What’s wrong?” He actually sounds concerned.

“Do you have a condom?” you ask, facing him again. And by the pained expression on his face, he doesn’t. You let out a frustrated groan at getting all worked up for nothing. You’re about to reach down for your panties when he pushes you back into place. “What?”

“Are you on the pill?”

“Yes,” you answer, “but the pill is only—”

“I’ll pull out,” he says. “And I’m clean, I swear.”

You look into his eyes and seeing the desperation in them makes you want to indulge him. “I’m clean too.”

Hoseok breathes a sigh of relief. “Thank fucking god.”

“You better pull out, or I swear Jung—”

You fail to get the rest of your words out because he slams his cock into you. And you’re right—he is bigger than you remember. He bottoms out at your cervix and you feel like a mess already. You both moan at the feeling of being connected like this again, after so long, and Hoseok keeps his promise and wastes no time.

He thrusts into you hard and fast, leaving you to do nothing but take everything he has to give. “Fuck, Hoseok—oh my god.”

Earlier, he talked about fucking your past sexual exploits out of you, but there was no need to mention anything at all; no one compares to him. They never had a chance.

“Shit, you feel so good wrapped around me,” he groans, digging his fingers into your hips.

And soon enough, you feel your orgasm approaching. It’s slow building, but it’s there and you want it. You figure you’ll just chase it yourself. Reaching a hand down, you find your clit and begin rubbing it. But just as soon as you feel yourself get closer to the high you desire, your hand is ripped away.

There is a sudden weight on your back as Hoseok whispers in your ear, “That’s my job, sweetheart.”

His fingers find your sensitive nub and you come immediately, screaming a string of curses into your arms in hopes that no one hears you. As you ride your high, you feel him pull out. With a groan, his cum spills all over your ass.

As you try to catch your breath and calm your erratic heart, you feel Hoseok pull his shorts back up and take a step back. All of the sudden, a strange feeling builds up in your chest. Is this what loss feels like? But you don’t have much time to dwell on your own thoughts because you feel a towel wiping your body.

You turn and see Hoseok cleaning the mess he made; but instead of looking down, he’s looking right at you.

“What?” you ask, sounding defensive.

“Nothing,” he says, and you hate that you can’t read people well. You wish you could know what he’s thinking right now.

After he cleans between your thighs, you pull your clothes back up your body. You still have a few hours left of your shift, so you hope you don’t look too much like a mess right now. Pulling your hair into a low ponytail, you feel awkwardness hit you like a truck. What are you supposed to say now?

“Uh…I have to go,” you can’t even look at him. “We have a meeting this afternoon…”

You don’t have a meeting, but you don’t know what else to say. But unlike you, Hoseok can take a hint and nods. “I’ll leave first…see you around…and thanks.”

He stares at you for a moment longer before leaving the room. You look out to make sure he’s a considerable distance away before you follow, ducking into the bathroom to check your appearance. Once you look into the mirror, you barely recognize the person you’re seeing.

The girl in front of you has flushed cheeks and sweaty hair.

You spend the rest of your shift daydreaming about what happened. In all honesty, your body aches in the best possible way. And even after your shift, once you get home and lay in your bed, you’re still thinking about everything.

Did you really willingly have sex with Jung Hoseok a second time? Once is a mistake, twice clearly means there was choice involved. What would your roomie say if she knew? You don’t plan on telling her—at least, not until you get back to school. If she knew you had succumbed to his charms this early in the summer, she’d chew you out for sure. Besides, you won’t let it happen again.

There will be no more slip ups this summer.

***

“Oh, fuck—yes. Rightthere…!”

You cling to the shelf as Hoseok fucks you from behind. Your legs feel impossibly weak from being in such an uncomfortable position, but you couldn’t care less right now—you just want to come.

“Don’t be so loud, sweetheart,” he groans through clenched teeth. “Don’t want to get caught now, do we?”

“N-No…but if you d-don’t make me c-come quicker, Hoseok…” you moan, and he proceeds to thrust faster. You don’t want to scream, but it just feels so fucking good for you not to. “I’m going to—”

Hoseok clamps a hand over your mouth as you come undone. Your eyes shut on their own accord as you scream into his hand, body shaking from the impact of your orgasm. He curses, probably from how tight you’re gripping his cock, but continues to thrust a few more times before pulling out and painting you in strings of milky white.

Once your body shops shaking, he pulls you up and presses a kiss onto your exposed shoulder. “You’re amazing.”

You can’t help but smile a little. “Thanks.”

The two of you quickly clean up and readjust your clothes. You’re supposed to be organizing after all—at the place you are working at for the summer—not fucking an old high school classmate. Hoseok leaves with a promise of finding you later, and you’re left alone with your thoughts again.

What just happened?

You really did mean it when you said that you didn’t want to have sex with Hoseok again, but here you are anyway. It’s already been a month since the first incident, and you’ve been sneaking quickies around the entire country club with Hoseok.

Every time you think you’re alone, he manages to find you and that infuriating smirk makes you helpless. You’ve lost track of how many times he’s already managed to make your panties drop. But even though he seeks you out for sex, every now and then he sticks around to have a conversation with you.

You feel your resolve crumbling away every time you get a glimpse of the humanHoseok.

“So, what are you studying in school?” he asked one day, settling beside you on the floor of the laundry room.

“Is it bad that I’m undecided?” You tried to laugh it off, but the sober expression on his face stopped you.

He shook his head. “No, you have time.”

And just like, all felt okay in the world.

“What about you?” you managed to ask.

The scrunch of his nose had been nearly undetectable, but you noticed it. “Business. My father wants me to take over the company one day.”

“And you don’t?” the question slipped past your lips without a second thought. You’d been horrified.

“I don’t mind business, but I don’t want my father’s. I’d rather start my own.”

This truth had been rather insightful, and you couldn’t help but change the way you looked at Hoseok—only a little though. You still thought he was an asshole.

After another moment pondering your idiocy, you go back to whatever you were doing before. Just as you place the last shampoo bottle on the rack, a knock sounds on the door. You jump, wondering if it’s Hoseok again; but when it opens, it’s just Soyoung. “Hey—you’ve been in here for a while. Almost done?”

If only she knew.

“Uh, yeah. Actually, just finished,” you try to smile. “Got a little distracted in here, I guess.” A little more than distracted.

Soyoung offers an understanding expression. “Feel that. These storage rooms can be a bit overwhelming.”

“Did you need something?” you ask, changing the conversation.

“I actually bring word from our manager. You don’t work tomorrow night, right?” Tomorrow is Saturday and one of the few days you actually have off this week. You’re dreading what Soyoung is about to tell you. “She asked if you could come in for a few hours—just to help with dinner. They’re expecting a big crowd tomorrow night since there’s a fundraiser happening during the day. It’ll be like three hours max.”

You think about it for a moment, rolling your lips between your teeth. Honestly, you don’t want to come in on your day off—who wants to work when they don’t have to—but three hours doesn’t sound so bad.

“Just three hours?”

Soyoung nods. “Just three hours. I’ll be helping with the dinner too, so we’ll get to work together. And afterwards, we can go to a party, if you want.”

That piques your interest, even though you aren’t one to go out often. “What party?”

“There’s a few houses on this property—they’re rented out to people who want to stay at the country club for an extended amount of time. And I heard from some of the other employees that a party is being hosted at one of the houses. Anyone and everyone is invited—even us.”

For some reason, you actually want to go to this party. Why? Maybe you just want to forget about Jung Hoseok’s charismatic smirk. A party should be a good distraction. So, you tell Soyoung that you’ll come work tomorrow and attend the party with her.

And the girl gives you hug, promising that it’ll be loads of fun.

You hope she’s right.

***

The next night, you arrive to work in a different version of your uniform. Instead of the usual polo and shorts the country club has you normally donned in, you’re wearing a long sleeve button up and black slacks. In your bag, you brought a change of clothes for later. Thankfully, you remembered to grab it on your way out. Imagine having to wear your server uniform to a party.

That would’ve been a social suicide.

You meet up with Soyoung for a few minutes before the dinner staff collects you all together. They debrief about tonight’s expectations and everyone’s roles. Next, they list all the jobs and when they call your name, you find out you’re going to be taking orders.

“Do I also need to bring the food out?” you ask.

One of the leaders shakes their head. “No, we’ll have people specifically there for that.”

After all the roles are established, dinner officially begins and you try not to look dumbstruck when you walk into the formal dining hall. This is the first time you’ve been in this room and it’s absolutely magnificent. You continue staring around for a moment before walking towards your section of the room—a row of tables by the window overlooking the setting sun.

You proceed taking orders from the first table—a family of four—and then the next—a group of six—before walking to a table that only seats two people. Probably a date. You barely look at the couple as you push a strand of loose hair behind your ear and pull out the notepad.

“Can I take your orders?” you ask, click your pen.

“Yes,” says a nasally voice to your right. You follow it, meeting the profile of a gorgeous girl. Long, silky hair drapes down her back in waterfalls and she’s wearing a tight pink dress. You think that she’ll turn her attention to you, but she doesn’t; she keeps staring at her date. “I’ll have the ratatouille. What about you, Hobi?”

Hobi? “I told you not to call me that, Nina.”

She pouts. “But you let me call you that when we were kids.”

“Yeah, we were kids then.”

You spare a look at Nina’s date and nearly falter when you realize who this Hobi is. It’s none other than Jung Hoseok himself. He’s wearing a fitted charcoal suit, hair slicked back slightly. Even from this view, you can tell his suit is expensive; definitely imported and tailored fitted to his body. Still, you can feel yourself salivating. The man looks like absolute sin, and you feel a sudden flash of jealousy because he’s on a date with someone else—someone he seems to know pretty well.

But you realize you have no right to feel that emotion at all. He’s not yoursto have. You both just happen to be sexually compatible. That is all. You two never talked about being exclusive. He is allowed to see other girls, even though the thought makes you feel a little sick.

Hoseok brings his eyes to yours, flashing you a smirk that has your knees weak. “Y/n.”

“You two know each other?” Nina asks, but your eyes don’t move from his.

“A little,” he says. That’s an understatement.

“We just went to high school together,” you add, playing along with his little game. “We weren’t friends though, just happened to be in a few classes together.”

Hoseok feigns hurt, bringing a hand up to his chest. “Can’t believe you think so little of me.”

“Oh, Hobi,” Nina interjects, her hand finding his on top of the table. You zone in on the touch, blood pressure rising when you realize he hasn’t pushed her away.

You try not to roll your eyes. “Yes, poor Hobi.”

When you turn back to him, he’s already looking at you. You stiffen for a second, wondering if his eyes have been on you this whole time. And by the scathing sensation you feel on the side of your head—Nina’s eyes, no doubt—you realize he probably has. “Um. Anyway, what did you want?”

He smirks again. “I’ll have the same, y/n.”

You quickly jot it down and excuse yourself before you start thinking too much.

The rest of your short shift, you make sure not to walk by Hoseok’s table again. Whenever you’re around him, you can’t think properly. He always seems to cloud your best judgment, which is why you’ve already been fucking him this summer. You allow work to consume you, which makes the time fly by. Before you know it, the three hours is already up and you’re headed to the bathroom with Soyoung.

“See? Wasn’t that bad, huh?” she asks from the cubicle beside you.

It was terrible. “Could’ve been worse, I guess.”

“I’m so excited about the party,” Soyoung changes the conversation. “It’s been so long since I’ve had a night out.”

You can’t help the next words that bubble out of you. “Why do you overwork yourself?”

Honestly, you didn’t mean to ask. After all, it isn’t your business to ask such questions anyway. Sure, you were curious about Soyoung but it’s not your place. You’ve been really testing boundaries recently.

“It just kind of happens,” she answers, which shocks you. Not the answer itself, but the fact that she even answered you at all. “I’ve been working here for so long, I guess I just can’t help it.”

“Well,” you sigh, “don’t overwork yourself. Live a little, you know.”

Soyoung laughs. “I’ll try.”

You step out of the stall first, moving to stand in front of the full-length mirror. Tonight, you opted for a flowy crop top and tight skirt. Not something you’d usually wear, but tonight’s different than most nights—you want to enjoy yourself. You pull your hair out of its tight pony, humming in pleasure at the sensation of your hair being free.

“Okay, I see you with the sexy hair.”

You didn’t even hear Soyoung’s stall unlocking or opening. Turning in her direction, you see she’s wearing something similar to you. Only, both her top and skirt are flowy. “More like messy hair.”

She laughs. “It looks good still.”

After running a hand through your hair a few times, and fixing your makeup, the two of you throw your bags into your respective vehicles and walk across the country club’s property. Not even five minutes later, you can hear music playing. Across the distance, you can see a massive house—no, villa—lit up with lights and people all over the place.

“Woah,” you breathe.

“Right?” Soyoung chuckles. “I told you this party was going to be it.”

“I thought you said it was going to be a house party.”

“It is?” She seems confused.

You shake your head. “Are all the houses on the country club property this big?”

Even in the dim lighting, you can see her nod. “I think so. Maybe not this big, but they’re all large enough to house multiple people.”

Damn. You wonder who’s renting this place for the summer. It’s huge, so there must be more than one person; maybe a family? Though, that seems odd since a party filled with young people is happening right now. However, you can’t even begin to fathom how much it costs to rent. How can anyone actually afford that?

But all thoughts of money fade when you actually reach the villa. You assume there’s mainly college-aged people here, though it’s difficult to tell age these days. Soyoung leads the way as you two maneuver past groups of people and into the villa itself. Once inside, you have to force yourself not to gawk at everything.

Grand doesn’t even begin to describe the interior. There’s so much to look at and before you can even begin to look at everything, Soyoung pulls you away. She finds the kitchen and hands you a drink from the cooler. You remove the lid and begin sipping, tasting the slight bitterness of alcohol on your tongue.

“So what do we do now?” You’re acting like such a noob.

Soyoung slants a look at you. “We mingle, maybe dance a little. Do you like dancing?”

You bite the inside of your lip. “Umm, kind of?”

Of course, you’ve been to your fair share of college parties—where dancing and drinking do not mix well. But you don’t mind it; you just don’t think you’re very good. You voice this thought out loud and Soyoung rolls her eyes.

“You don’t have to be good at dancing. You just have to do it. Usually, it comes naturally.”

You aren’t too sure about that statement. But as Soyoung pulls you in a new direction, away from the kitchen, you realize that you have no choice. In another large room adjacent to the kitchen, someone has started a makeshift dancefloor. The bass is booming against the wall and strobe lights illuminate the room.

Even though you’re struggling, Soyoung pulls you both into the middle of the room and spins you around to the music. “I can’t.”

“Sure you can,” she shouts over the music, proceeding to move her body dramatically. You can’t help but laugh. Shaking your head, you realize dancing really isn’t a big deal and you allow Soyoung to move you to the beat. And eventually, you can do it by yourself.

You close your eyes as you sway to the music, occasionally bumping into Soyoung on purpose. It even gets to the point where you feel comfortable enough to lift your arms into the air, which is something you’d never thought you’d do.

It’s not until a few songs later that you finally open your eyes. And when you do, you immediately meet his gaze.

A jolt of electricity goes up your spine at the look Jung Hoseok is giving you right now. He’s leaning against the fireplace in the room across from you, changed out of that expensive suit he was wearing earlier. Now, he’s only wearing the white button up—sleeves rolled to his elbows—and a pair of navy-blue shorts. In his hand he nurses a beer, and that’s when you realize he’s still with that girl from earlier.

You try to keep your expression neutral as you stare at them; but by the way Hoseok’s hard gaze morphs into something smugger, you know you’re doing a bad job at concealing your feelings.

Dammit.

You quickly whisper something to Soyoung about needing some air as you look for the nearest exit. Unfortunately, you don’t know your way around the house. You meander around for a moment before you find a door that leads to the backyard. Breathing a sigh of relief, you open the door and walk into the cool summer night.

There’s a pathway of rocks that leads to the dock of a body of water—a body of water that you didn’t even know existed. You aren’t sure what to call it; a large pond? Whatever it is, you take the pathway until you reach the end of the dock. There, you settle on the edge and stare at the murky depths.

Bodies of water like this were unpredictable. You had no idea how deep it actually was. It could seem shallow, but in actuality be sixty feet deep. For a second, you consider dipping your toes in; however, you decide against it. Who knows what’s in there?

You allow the echoes of cicadas and other small insects to fill your senses. Eventually, you even lay down on the dock and close your eyes, trying not to think too much about—

“What are you doing?”

Your eyes flash open. And as they adjust to the night, you make out Hoseok’s infuriating perfect face. He’s leaning over you, and it pisses you off that he looks good even from this obscene angle. “Go away.”

“Well, aren’t you grumpy,” he hums. “It seemed like you were having a great time shaking you’re a—”

“Hoseok,” you breathe. “Leave me alone. I don’t want to play your stupid games right now.”

He cracks a rare half-smile. “Who said anything about playing games?”

When you don’t answer him, Hoseok’s smile falls and he frowns. You don’t care what else he has to say; you really meant it when you said you’re not in the mood for him right now. However, the boy doesn’t seem to take the hint like he usually does. Because he settles right beside you on the dock, laying down so he’s now eye-level with you.

“You’re insufferable,” you roll your eyes, shifting away from him.

“That’s what you like about me.”

“Who said I liked you?”

“I think your actions speak louder than you think,” he says, sounding awfully calm right now, which is very unlike him. You have no other choice but to look at him. And when you do, your breath gets caught in your throat. Even in the darkness, his eyes seem to sparkle as he looks at you—so fucking intently like he’s seeing you for the first time.

You don’t like it.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you force your eyes away, but his stare burns your skin anyway.

“You were jealous at dinner, weren’t you?”

The scoff that leaves your lips sounds beyond bitter. “No, of course not. Why would I be?”

“If you were jealous,” Hoseok begins, which makes your stomach churn, “don’t be.”

“Huh?” you ask, still not able to look at him.

“Don’t be,” he repeats. “Don’t be jealous of Nina.”

“I wasn’t jealous of—”

He cuts you off. “Don’t be jealous of her. She’s just a family friend.”

“But you two seem so close…”

Hoseok laughs. “I just entertain her because our parents have been friends forever. I’m pretty sure they want me to marry someone like her. I mean, she’s hot”—you suck in a breath— “but she’s notyou.”

Your eyes finally give him and meet his, and he’s still staring at you. “What’s that supposed to mean.”

As you both look at each other, you expect him to say something. But he never does. Instead, he scoots a few inches closer to you—so close your noses are almost touching—and runs his fingers through your hair. Weaving his digits through your still messy hair, he pulls your head towards his and your lips meet.

And underneath the moonlight, you allow Hoseok to kiss you until your head is dizzy and you have no choice but to let him consume you again.

***

The next morning, you find yourself wrapped in pristine white sheets that feel like silk beneath your fingers. But that’s not the only thing you’re wrapped in. A heavy arm is slumped over your waist and the body heat emanating from him sets yourself ablaze.

Last night, after Hoseok bruised your mouth and skin with his lips at the dock, you asked him why he was at the party.

“This is my house,” he said so casually, like it wasn’t a big deal at all. Your eyes bulged out of their sockets. “Well, my house for the summer at least.”

“You’ve been here this whole time?”

He nodded. “Our actual house is in the city, and I hate driving back and forth so much—especially since I’m here with the guys nearly every day. So, my parents decided to rent this.”

You didn’t know what to say. But you realized there was nothing that needed to be said because since this is where he was staying, it meant his bedroom was here too. You let him walk you back to the villa and up the stairs into his room, to which you had to text Soyoung and let her know you were headed home early. A lie. You told her you felt sick. Another lie. But she didn’t seem to mind. She had found a few other employees of the country club there and would walk back with them.

After losing track of how many orgasms he gave you, youth both shared a bottle of vodka he had stashed underneath his bed. And tipsy you had no inhibitions.

Every question Hoseok asked, you answered honestly.

“Favorite color?”

“Red.”

“Do you like working at the country club?”

“It’s a job.”

“If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?”

“Spend my life away on some island.”

He laughed. “Really?”

“Island life s-seems fun. It’s relaxing. You don’t have to worry about anything,” you slightly slurred your words. “You?”

“I think island life seems to be the move now.”

You both talked so much. About anything and everything. It reminded you so much of the first time you really spoke to him. Moments like this made Hoseok feel normal, which you don’t know how to feel about yet.

But one thing you realized you did enjoy was his laugh—his real laugh. Not the one he smirked with, but the one he gave when he thought no one else was watching.

You must’ve said something stupid—you honestly can’t recall it now—but when he doubled over in laughter, it was infectious.

The good thing is that you don’t have work today, which means you don’t have to rush anywhere. But you have a feeling that you’ve overstayed your welcome. You didn’t even mean to stay the night, but you’d been so comfortable in Hoseok’s bed that you fell asleep after all the conversations. It was probably the best sleep you’ve ever had.

You’re going to give the credit to Hoseok’s expensive mattress, and definitely nothim.

Though, you can’t deny how good it feels to have him spooning you. A part of you wants to stay in this bed forever, but that’s crazy talk—you shouldn’t have come into the bed with him at all. You keep telling yourself—over and over again—that you don’t want to fuck him again.

But you’ve been such a liar.

Now, you’ve accepted the fact that you can’t resist him. You know it’s just sex, but you didn’t want to get involved with him in the first place.

You take in a few breaths as you try to move his arm off of you. Hoseok shifts a little, and you risk a look over your shoulder. When your eyes take in his face, your heart stutters for a moment. With his mouth slightly parted and eyes still firmly closed, you realize that he looks so peaceful asleep. So vulnerable. You have to force yourself from touching him.

What the fuck, y/n?

Turning back around, you gently pry his arm off of you and pray that you don’t wake him. But all your careful maneuvering proves to be futile because his arm releases from your grip and moves back down to your waist. With a squeal, Hoseok pulls you back on his chest.

“Where do you think you’re going?” God, his morning voice is so hot.

“Um, leaving?” you sound like an idiot.

“Stay,” he breathes against the back of your head.

You want to. You really, really want to. “I can’t.”

“Why not?” he asks, snaking his arms underneath the covers to find you—skin still bare from last night’s activities. Your breath hitches as his fingers trail across your skin, each touch feeling like sparks.

“I-I have somewhere I have to be,” you stutter as his rough hand wraps around one of your breasts, squeezing tight. Your nipple hardens immediately.

Hoseok slips the covers off your body, exposing you to the cool air-conditioned room. And without warning, he moves on top of you and begins trailing his lips over your body. You notice that he makes sure to suck those bruises he left scattered across your skin extra hard, purpling them even more.

“Hoseok,” you try not to moan. “I really have t-to—”

His lips crashing onto yours shuts you up. You kiss him back forcefully, nipping his lips with your teeth and running your tongue across his. As you two battle it out, he settles in-between your thighs. Bringing a hand down your abdomen, it slides straight to your cunt—which is already drenched.

He hisses against your lips. “So fucking wet. Thought you had to go?”

“Shut up,” you moan as he runs a finger from your ass to your clit, swirling your juices everywhere. Involuntarily, your hips buck up when he slides a finger inside of you. He gently fucks you like that for a moment, leaving you writhing underneath him. “More, Hoseok—I need more.”

A wicked smile erupts on his face. “Are you going to beg for it?”

An incredulous expression lights your face. You’ve never begged in bed before, and you aren’t going to start now. However, the man on top of you is sure getting a kick out of this. Hoseok moves his finger slowly out of you, which agitates you to no end. If you weren’t so horny right now, you’d kill him.

“No,” you narrow your eyes, not willing to give in.

His finger stops moving. “A shame, really.”

You freeze. “What the fuck, Jung Hoseok?”

“I’m not doing anything until you say please,” he smirks, moving his upper body away from you.

Even though you’re pissed, you can’t help but drink in the Adonis in front of you. Like you, Hoseok is completely naked. Your eyes rake his defined muscles and his thick cock that’s already unbelievably hard. He’s hard for you. The fact that you turn him on makes you feel good—too good.

“Fine,” you shrug, and his smirk falls. “Just get blue balls then.”

As his body goes slack for a moment, you use the opportunity to slip from the bed. But you don’t manage to get very far at all. You probably only take three steps before his arm wraps around you and pulls you back to the bed.

You fall on your back, and Hoseok pins your arms on either side to keep you from moving. Still, you squirm—heart drumming in your chest at the look on his face. His eyes have turned black, and he looks like he wants to devour you. “I’m not begging.”

“We’ll see about that.”

With your arms still pinned, Hoseok lowers his body and your legs spread on their own accord. Fuck you, body. The movement makes him chuckle darkly and he begins peppering kisses along your thigh. Your breath hitches in your throat, which turns into a gasp when he suddenly bites down on your flesh. Not hard enough to draw blood, but it’s enough to be painful.

And as much as you hate to admit it, you like it very much.

Hoseok continues alternating between kissing and biting your thighs until you’re one-hundred-percent positive there is a pool of your wetness on the bed. You know what he’s trying to do and it’s working, but you don’t want to give in. And then he’s so close to your pussy, not even an inch away. You can feel his breath fanning you there. If you just move your hips a little…

“Don’t even think about it,” he moves his head away.

You release a groan of frustration. “Oh my god.”

“If you just say the magic word,” he taunts, lips now on your stomach. He moves low, but never low enough; never where you want him to go.

When he moves up your body, pressing chaste kisses on your nipples before latching his lips on your neck, you release a breathy moan. Hoseok lets out a groan from the back of his throat, hands tightening around your wrists. Fuck, why are the noises he makes even attractive? “Hoseok…”

“Y/n,” he’s still sucking on your neck.

This position, you realize, aligns him perfectly with your body. Again, if you were able to move just a little bit…but Hoseok’s weighing you down with his body, not allowing you to move at all.

“Hoseok,” you say his name again, but he doesn’t respond—he just moves his lips to your ear, nibbling on the sensitive flesh there. And that’s when you crumble. You can’t take it anymore. “Please…please just fuck me already.”

Simultaneously, he curses into your ear as he slides his cock into you. Too perfect—the way he fills you up is too perfect.

You expect Hoseok to fuck you hard, hips slamming into you, but he doesn’t. His thrusts are slow, but the way he hits your cervix has you nearly in tears. Fuck. He releases the hold on your wrists to grip onto either side of your face. With lips ghosting over yours, you tangle your hands into his dark hair.

Your breaths mesh together as he continues to fuck you with slow, measured thrusts. You’ve grown accustomed to the rough way Hoseok likes to fuck; but for some reason, you love this so much more. It’s intimate and makes your chest tighten in a strange way but feels so good you don’t want it to stop.

“Please,” you whisper against his lips again.

“Fuck, sweetheart,” he groans, rolling his hips in a way that has you arching off the bed. Yes.

“Just like t-that,” you say, slanting your mouth to mold against his again.

Your orgasm comes without warning; you moan into Hoseok’s mouth, gripping him closer to you and you ride your high. Through the haze of your earth-shattering orgasm, you hear Hoseok ask if he can come inside you. He’s always pulled out—even last night when he fucked you for hours. But right now you don’t care, and your answer comes in the form of your legs wrapping around his hips.

He kisses you hard and comes inside you a moment later. You’ve never let anyone else come raw inside of you; never trusted anyone else that much. And in that moment, a terrifying thought flashes across your mind.

I’m in love you.

The thought comes so suddenly, burns your brain so hotly, your body stills. Hoseok finally lifts off of you, eyes crinkling in concern. “You okay?”

You quickly try to shake the feeling away. “Um, yeah.”

“You sure? Should I not have come inside you?” he slips out of you, and for some reason you want to cry at the sudden emptiness you feel. “You’re looking pale right now.”

“No, it was fine,” you blink too fast, feeling tears begin to well in your eyes. Get a fucking grip on yourself. “I’m sorry, I really have to go.”

Hoseok doesn’t try to stop you this time when you move away from the bed. You find your clothes on the floor and slip everything back on without looking at him, even though you can feel his gaze on you the entire time. Not bothering to check your appearance, you grab your stuff and move towards his door.

“Y/n,” he calls your name, voice sounding strange, but you don’t want to look at him. If you look at him, you’re going to start crying. And that’s too embarrassing to explain.

You slip out of his bedroom and take the stairs two at a time. As you rush down, you run into someone. “Sorry—”

Looking up, you realize it’s Seokjin; he must’ve stayed the night. Even in your distress, you feel feverish wondering if you were too loud. However, he takes one look at you and stares like he has you all figured out. Your heart threatens to beat out of your chest.

“Did something happen…?” he asks, looking at the door you just left wide open upstairs.

“Don’t worry about it,” you quickly say, adverting your eyes and sidestepping him.

This morning, it’s much easier to find the front door. Just as you’re about to slip out, you hear your name being called again, heavy steps thundering down the stairs. Shit, shit, shit. You break into a run and don’t stop until you have no more air to spare in your lungs. Thankfully, you’re far enough from the villa and close to the country club.

Only then do you allow yourself to fall into the grass as the tears finally cascade down your cheeks.

You’re a fool, you realize. A fool to have fallen in love with someone like Jung Hoseok. Someone who will never feel the same way. Someone who just uses you for a good time. someone who you barely even know. Someone you never wanted to get involved with.

***

You call out of work the next week, claiming to have the stomach bug. But you don’t have the stomach bug; in fact, you’re not even physically ill at all. You just can’t bear the thought of running into Hoseok at the country club.

On the first day, you listen to your sad girl hours playlist on repeat.

During your second day of moping in bed, you half consider quitting your job. Would it be too cowardly? Maybe. Unfortunately, there’s only a few weeks left of summer and you doubt that you’ll be able to find another job.

When the third day arrives, you finally get out of bed and take a proper shower. You didn’t realize how much you needed it.

Your mom knocks on your door on the fourth day. You only know it’s her by the way she taps on your door rhythmically; she’s always done that ever since you were a child. When you don’t respond, she dares to crack the door open. Shit, you forgot to lock it last night.

“Are you feeling better, love?”

You don’t move on the bed, hoping your mother thinks you’re asleep or something. But despite you not moving, she still shuffles into your room and settles herself on the edge of the bed.

“Is this because I haven’t been spending time with you this summer?”

No, mom. It’s me. I fucked up. Although, I would appreciate it if you did spend time with me—like you dragged me here this summer to do.

“I’m really sorry, love,” she whispers, getting up after a moment.

Once you’re sure she’s by the door, you finally open your mouth. “It’s not because of you. It’s…something else.”

You hear her grab onto the door, but she doesn’t say another word before leaving you all alone again.

On the fifth day, the bruises that littered your skin finally start fading. Glancing into the mirror of your bathroom, you run your fingers along the—now greenish-yellow—hickies he left on your neck. Goodness, there were so ma

he’s waiting by the street that leads to the carnival, waiting for you as you walk down to the venue and it’s just like he texted you. He’s standing at the same spot he told he would and wearing the same clothes he said he would. and a smile, a smile that can light up planets of planets. He suggested the carnival date after you told him you’d never been to one??? and yeonjun is so desperate to change that.

So he takes you to all the major booths, the cotton candies, the aiming game where he tells you he’ll get you the plushie and he ends up failing once, twice, a lot and instead you get it when you try and you give it to him. (which you tease him a lot about but stop when he gets very pouty) (also he won’t admit but he lowkey loves the plushie you won for him that he’s carrying around rn)

Next is the ferris wheel, which Yeonjun reluctantly comes along with you (you remember him texting you about how his friends call him “the king of heights,” this is certainly not how you imagined said king. but he cutely pretends to be brave until the wheel almost midway and he nervously attempts to hold your hand.

and you give in and intertwine your hands with his, (at least the ferris wheel paid off, yeonjun thinks as you walk off the wheel).

Lastly you get ice creams, cue him hyping mint choco a lot then being super bummed out because they ran out of it :((( you end up having vanilla because well, vanilla is the greatest (second greatest, yeonjun interrupts) ice cream flavour.

and he walks you home, which to be honest makes you sad because you didn’t want the night to end yet :( this was the best first date you could have ever asked for <3 and despite yeonjun’s anxiety, you end up scheduling a next date right before you go home.

Try Me Part One - Wooyoung x Reader (NSFW)

This is an Ateez fic.

Genre and warnings: smut. age gap (within legal boundaries).  bratty dom!wooyoung with older sub!reader. mommy kink, reader is called “mommy”. fem pronouns for reader. rough sex including face fucking, use of handcuffs, spanking, slapping, mild choking and overstimulation all done to the reader. dirty talk. unprotected sex. aftercare. reader is married so cheating but the husband is an asshole if that helps. fem pronouns. (lemme know if i missed anything)

Word count: 6,743.

this fic is not meant to represent wooyoung in any way, shape or form.

               Night One.

               Wooyoung is late.

Twenty minutes late, to be exact. You shouldn’t be so annoyed because you were expecting it. But the irritation is building as you bounce your leg up and down impatiently sitting on your couch.

At this point, your disdain for your boss is at a record high. Wooyoung shouldn’t have been hired at the company and he definitely shouldn’t have been put on this project with you. If it weren’t for the fact he was the CEO’s son, he would be working a dead end job somewhere. It wasn’t just Wooyoung being younger than you that made him so annoying. It was that he knew he only got the job because of nepotism and walked around the office like he owned the place. His shit eating grin and confident swagger grinded your every nerve. He never did any work, took credit and then would brag about it later.

“hold on!”

johnny chuckled softly as he turned around to look back.

“c'mon slow ass!” he called after y/n. the girl’s breath was heavy and she was bent forward, hands on her knees as she took deep breaths. she threw him a murderous look.

“you’re one to talk, you have long legs!” she huffed as she took the last few straining steps and stood beside him. johnny laughed.

“alright, alright,” he extended his arm, hand open encouraging her to hold it. he shook it when she stubbornly stared at him, brows furrowed. she huffed and stomped up to him. a small chuckle left his lips as she took a hold of his fingers.

“stubborn,” he muttered as he flashed a dazzling smile her way, and y/n couldn’t help but smile back. her chest soared, filling up with adoration for the man that she loved.

he kept walking up the sloped road, turning back from time to time and y/n’s heart jumped in summersaults every time.

he looked absolutely stunning in his parted hair, one side tucked behind his ear, the other shading the side of his face. his neck bared by the new trim he had a few days prior. the black t-shirt and jeans giving him the casual, homey look she oh so adored. his beige denim jacket was draped over his arm as he swung her hand with the other.

and johnny just emanated such familiarity that she couldn’t ever stop smiling when he was around…apart from when he called her slow, he was a dick for boasting about his long legs.

just listen, trust me.

the many things people told him echoed in his head. the dimmed lights of his studio room and the slow, low beat of the music not doing much to brighten up his mood.

she’s being too friendly with that one friend of yours, don’t you think?

he’s warming up too much to her.

watch out, you wouldn’t want someone to whisk her away from you, she is a bit naive, she could be affected too easily.

and it would all have fallen to deaf ears, because he was never one to let anyone talk about his personal life, only if one of his closest friends hadn’t said something.

“jaem,” jeno’s voice made jaemin turn to his friend. jeno looked around to their other friends before figuring out they wouldn’t let what he was going to say out of the circle.

“yeah,” jaemin smiled at jeno, remnants of his laugher from what renjun was saying. jeno cleared his throat still unsure how to approach the topic.

as soon as the news reached his ears he had searched for his friend. he was unsure of the news but he figured jaemin could always ask y/n and they would solve things if it were to be lies. what jeno didn’t know at the time was all the other stuff jaemin had heard.

“listen,” jeno started, tongue darting out to wet his dry lips, “i.. people are saying some stuff and i-,” he cleared his throat again, in nervousness, “i thought i should let you know. i don’t think they are true at all! but… one can never be too sure, right?” he asked, voice unsure as his eyes darted to meet jaemin’s. the latter’s brows furrowed in confusion, wondering what the hell jeno was talking about and he was just about to ask when he continued.

“in case it’s wrong then you guys can always just clear it out but i heard this from someone close and thought i would let you know either ways,” jeno’s hand scratched his neck in nervousness.

“just fucking say it, oh my god,” chenle huffed, impatient with the suspense the older was building up.

“i swear to god, if you say something like a joke,” haechan warned, mark snorting.

“i’m serious, just,” jeno groaned, wondering why he had to be the one to break the news.

“just tell me, jeno,” jaemin smiled and jeno felt the already heavy load on his shoulder get 20 kgs heavier. he took a deep breath. all in one go, he thought, just like a band aid.

“y/n is cheating on you.”

and jaemin’s world fell apart.

everyone could have been wrong but jeno? could jeno be wrong too?

silence. total silence followed as jaemin’s smile fell and his eyes stared ahead to jeno but not really.

he thought about y/n, thought if he could picture her doing anything like than and the answer came right away, even before he finished his thought. no. just no. she could never. but they always said it’s the people you least expect it from. but y/n? she could never… right?

“what the fuck are you talking about?” it was mark who had spoken, the defensive tone evident in voice as he did nothing to mask it and jeno looked away from jaemin’s eyes to the eldest.

“y/n could never, she’s not like that,” renjun chuckled drily, in disbelief.

“jeno, are you sure about this?” haechan raised a hand in front of him to assess the grave situation.

“that’s what i said. i heard this from someone who’s reliable, i can’t say who, though.”

jaemin cleared his throat catching everyone’s attention. he gulped the lump in his throat before he looked around the group.

“i’ll handle this, don’t worry.”

that was all he said but even if he sounded calm and collected, his eyes said a different story, and his clenched jaw showed a different side of the coin. and as much as they wanted to believe he would handle it with care with y/n, they saw the storm coming even before he did. because jaemin’s eyes were on fire, he was aflame. and that uncertainty he had before had just been consumed with jeno’s confirmation. jaemin’s tipping point was reached. as he turned to walk away a hand grasped his arm.

“jaemin,” it was jisung, jaemin waited for him to go on.

“she would never do that.” was all he said.

the ding of his phone’s notification brought him back from the memory. he reached out to his phone deciding this could no longer be avoided. he was determined enough. with these thoughts running in his head he dialed y/n’s number and pressed the phone to his ear.

“hello? jaem?” she answered, and he sighed because how could she sound so angelic, and how was he supposed to confront her when he felt his heart tighten just by her voice. he sucked up the weakness he felt for her when she called out his name again.

“hey, where are you?” he asked softly, but no matter how much he tried to conceal it, the coldness in his voice seeped through.

“i’m at the cafe near my apartment with kyunhae,” she giggled and at the mention of the name jaemin saw red. what the fuck was she doing with him?

“when will you be done? i need to talk to you,” he deadpanned, voice colder than y/n had ever heard and she felt at alert right away. why was he talking like that?

“jaem?” wonder laced her voice as she silently asked what was up but jaemin said nothing.

“it’s urgent,” he specified and y/n had asked him to pick her up right away, sensing something was wrong. and jaemin was left confused to stare at his phone again.

how long are you gonna pretend you care about me? why are you doing me this dirty? why are you faking caring about me?

with those thoughts he had gotten up, whisked his jacket from behind his bedroom door and out of the house he was.

as he drove through the streets he tried to think again, he tried to figure out again if she could really have cheated on him. he was desperate for it to be a lie but then again, jeno had confirmed it, hadn’t he?

could the girl that held him so tightly when they slept, cheat on him? could the girl he grew to love so much do this to him? how could she even think about it when she cried during children’s movies, had ice cream cravings out of nowhere, cried in his arms, clinging to him when he had almost fainted from low blood pressure, helped him stand back on his feet whenever he was sick, babying him through the whole process. how could she cheat on him when she kissed him so softly, as if he was the most precious thing she had, when she held him so close as he murmured sweet nothings in her ears, when she looked at him with so much love when he smiled, when right as he laughed he would look over at her and she would be staring at him. her excuse? she loved seeing him happy. how could the same person that confessed her love for him in between shallow breaths, gasps and whines as he made her feel good be the same person to cheat. how could she make him feel so loved and so important if it was all fake.

it took him a total of twenty minutes to reach the cafe. he parked the car outside as he texted y/n he was out front. he waited for her leaned against the side of his car.

the door to the entrance to the cafe opened and y/n walked out first, face turned behind her as she laughed with kyunhae. jaemin’s hands balled into fists as he watched the interaction, the anger swam in his veins as he watched y/n collide her fist against his in a fist bump before calling out a text me later.

y/n turned out front to jaemin and the way her eyes seemed to genuinely spark up in bright stars as soon she saw him had his heart clenching in pain. how long have you been mastering this act? how can you look this genuine?

“hi, handsome,” she gushed as she pressed her chest to his, arms wrapping around his neck as she pressed a soft kiss to his jaw. jaemin gulped, eyes trained to her relaxed expression, eyes closed and a soft smile on her lips as she hugged him standing on her tippy toes. his arms shoot out out of habit as they went to wrap around her waist before his hands hovered over her frame. he couldn’t do it. he couldn’t pretend everything was okay.

as y/n didn’t feel jaemin hug her back she pulled away slowly, her eyes looking up at him as her arms slowly fell away from him.

“jaem?” she softly called him and his eyes met hers, cold as ever. her hand raised to rest on his cheek in affection but before she could touch his skin, his fingers wrapped around her wrist and stopped her in her tracks. y/n’s brows furrowed in confusion.

“let’s go,” he simply said as he stepped away and opened the passenger seat door for her, y/n looked at him for a few seconds more as he looked to the side and waited for her to get in, so she did.

the silence was eating y/n alive as she fidgeted with her fingers, suspecting something was wrong. she raked her brain, wondering if she did or said anything wrong but it all came empty.

“jaem?” she tentatively called for him. jaemin waited for a few seconds before he hummed in acknowledgement, but even that small sound seemed cold, colder than he had ever been.

“is something wrong?” she softly asked, hand reaching out to grasp his and intertwining their fingers before resting it on her lap. but as soon as the back of his hand rested against her jeans clad thigh he shook off her hand to grasp the wheel again.

she sat frozen, eyes trained where their hands were, her hand still in her lap the same way he had shook it off. what did i do so bad? she wondered.

“i’m driving,” came his excuse but she knew something else was up. he had never rejected her touch like this.

“if something is wrong please tell me, i’ll help you,” she shook off the hurt before turning to him and sending a small smile, eyes pleading, but jaemin stared ahead, silent.

a few minutes later jaemin parked the car in his apartment building garage before swiftly getting out and waiting for y/n. it took her a few seconds before she was out too. they made their way to the elevators. the elevator came, they got in, and it went up to jaemin and his friend’s apartment floor. all in silence.

jaemin walked in first, leaving the door open for y/n. as she closed the door behind her she made eye contact with jisung. the boy smiled warmly at the girl and stepped towards her.

“oh! didn’t know you were coming over, want some?” he raised the hot pot of ramen, seemingly on the way to his room, and y/n smiled shaking her head as she took her shoes off.

“i ate, but thank you,” she smiled warmly and jisung threw her a thumbs up before walking to his room and closing the door.

y/n walked into the apartment looking around for which way jaemin went before her eyes fell on his seated figure in the living room. everyone seemed to be in their own rooms apart from mark, who stood in the kitchen.

“hey,” he waved, a warm smile on his lips before his eyes shifted jaemin and his smile dimmed a bit, y/n waved back.

she shuffled towards jaemin, still confused as to what happened.

“jaemin?” she called for him, his head snapped her way before he slowly stood up.

“do you have anything to tell me?” he asked and y/n thought hard and careful if she had forgotten anything but came up with nothing so she timidly shook her head, hands picking at the border of her tshirt. the one that belonged to jaemin.

“did i forget anything?” she murmured, head low as she felt guilty for forgetting something that affected him so much.

“you have nothing to tell me?” he repeated, a scoff following and y/n looked back up at him, her brows furrowed.

“okay, let me ask you this,” he said, hands resting on his hips as he looked up at the ceiling. mark watched, debating whether he should leave or not, but then choosing against it, someone had to try and do damage control.

“what is kyunhae to you?” at the new question y/n’s brows furrowed even more.

“jaem what are you reaching at?” she asked, confusion eating her alive. jaemin’s eyes sent daggers her way and she realized that she never wanted to have that gaze on her ever again.

“answer my question; what. is. kyunhae. to. you?” he asked again, emphasizing his words. the agitation clear in his voice as he ran a hand through his hair. mark stepped into the living room area.

“jaemin, chill,” he tried to calm the younger and prevent him from saying anything he would regret later. this wasn’t how he thought jaemin would handle things.

“why can’t she just answer?!” jaemin exclaimed. the more she delayed her answer the more anger rose in him. her lips quivered seeing a jaemin she had never seen. he had never talked to her like that, with so much hartred.

“he’s just a friend! that’s all! why are you asking me that!” she answered, her voice a notch higher as she felt attacked. the way he talked to her made her feel defensive. she had never felt attacked by him and she was scared, she didn’t know what happened, why he was acting like that. but no matter how naive she was she wasn’t stupid.

she heard what people said about her, she knew things reached jaemin’s ears in the past and she had done everything in her power to show him he was the only person she loved, only person she cared about. that he was her everything, her all. she had gifted him with a matching promise ring, to reassure him that she was his, always will be. she had told him not to listen to anyone, only her. she loved him, she really did. that’s why she always told him when she would be out with kyunhae, she wanted him to know that whenever he needed it she will drop him and come running to jaemin. because jaemin was her priority. she had told him about meeting him today too but jaemin had forgotten it seems.

“then why the fuck do i hear different things?” he all but screamed and y/n stood frozen on her spot, scared. he had never raised his voice at her, much less in the process of accusing her of anything.

“i swear jaem,” her voice came out in a trembled whisper as jaemin breathed heavily, “none of it is true, i swear,” she pleaded, her eyes stinging in desperation. she needed him to believe her.

“you’re lying,” he shook his head, an empty chuckle leaving his lips as he threw his head back in disbelief and anger, “you’ve been lying for who knows how long,” he muttered and y/n’s brows furrowed, offended.

“i have never lied to you,” she breathed out, before she remembered mark standing nearby. she took two quick steps towards him, taking a hold of his hand softly, “jaem, let’s talk about it in your room, okay? let’s solve this,” she pleaded as she softly pulled his hand but jaemin snatched his arm away from her.

“no,” he shook his head, “we’re gonna do it here, so you can’t lie to me anymore,” his voice rose as he pointed around him and y/n’s eyes blurred in frustration and hurt. how could he be like this.

“jaem what has gotten into you?” she asked, voice a tremble as the first tears threatened to spill, “please, i don’t want to lose you, let’s calm down and talk about this,” she pleaded again.

“if you didn’t want to lose me you should’ve thought about it before you cheated on me!”

y/n felt her heart break at his words, she felt like he had pushed her off of a building, she felt like the ground was snatched from under her feet and she was left falling into the void. the emotion swam in her expression.

“what’s going on?”

mark’s head snapped towards renjun and haechan’s figures as they stepped out of their rooms and into the living room, eyes widened in alarm shifting from y/n to jaemin and then to mark.

mark shook his head. the three looked at y/n, her emotions set on her face and they knew right away they had the whole situation wrong. jaemin had it wrong.

she didn’t look alarmed, caught in the act or guilty, she looked down right betrayed, hurt, and deceived.

“i did nothing of the sort, jaemin,” her voice came out offended, disbelief swimming in her tone.

“jaem,” haechan walked in front of his friend, partially blocking y/n’s view, “that’s enough, calm down,” he muttered lowly, only jaemin hearing him. jaemin shook his head as he pushed haechan away softly.

“no, i need to know why,” he insisted, “why would you do that to me? why not just tell me?” he asked again.

“i didn’t do anything! i understand you heard it somewhere but hell, jaemin, at least ask me before you assume the worst!” she exclaimed her arms raising and dropping by her sides.

“and you’re still fucking lying to me!” he raised his voice again in exasperation.

“i have no reason to lie to you! why are you saying all this to me? how could i ever do that to you, jaem?” her voice grew quiet at the end, just the thought of his implications finally sending the tears tumbling down her cheeks. jaemin scoffed.

“exactly, how could you do that to me?! all i ever did was treat you with care, i always put you first!” he countered again, the vein in his neck popping.

“jaem, you’re not listening to me, please, just listen to me,” she pleaded a sob escaping her lips as she stepped closer t him, her hands grasping his cheeks in desperation for him to look at her eyes, to believe her, “i love you, i would never ever do anything like that, please trust me, let them all be, just trust me.”

but jaemin took a hold of her hands and let them fall in between them.

“what if it’s someone close to me that told me,” he scoffed stepping away.

“jaemin don’t,” renjun interfered, standing in front of y/n, blocking her completely from jaemin’s eyes.

“just go home y/n,” jaemin shook his head as his fingers ran trough his hair and he turned away.

“yah, you’re exaggerating,” mark called him out and jaemin threw him a glance.

“then why bring me here? why do this in front of everyone when you could’ve done that when you met me, why this whole thing?” she asked quietly. she didn’t know what she felt, she didn’t know who this person in front of her even was.

she understood jaemin, she really did. hearing so many things from so many people must’ve played with his head, she understood it. but fucking hell she wished he had talked to her about it, about all of it. she wished he didn’t lash out on her, she wished he had just remembered who she was and how much she loved him. she was a person too, wasn’t she? she could get hurt too, right?

when jaemin didn’t answer she hurriedly turned around, making her way to the door. she fleetingly saw the youngest two silently standing in front of their door at the commotion but she paid no mind to that. all she wanted was to go away. y/n felt so lost, so betrayed; why didn’t he believe her? why didn’t he just askher?

“y/n wait-” haechan tried to call back the girl but she was already out of the door, quickly walking to the elevator and pressing repeatedly on the button.

“fucking hell jaem, is this how you planned to handle it? really?” renjun scolded the black haired guy. jaemin sat on the couch, head in his hands and eyes brimming with tears. suspiciously all their phones dinged one after the other. chenle and jisung looking at each other in confusion as they were the only ones to notice.

mark ran out of the apartment slowly coming to a stop in beside of y/n. she kept her head down, tears dripping on the floor from the tip of her nose as she sniffled.

“y/n,” mark took a hold of her elbow, “wait for a second, you can’t leave alone. it’s late, I’ll take you home, hmm?” he tried to persuade her softly, careful not to be too loud. but she shook her head.

“thank you, but i need to be alone,” she whispered, her shoulder shaking as she took in a harsh breath. mark’s eyes softened.

“let me call you an uber, at least?” he offered again, hand caressing her hair in affection but she shook her head again.

“I’ll be okay,” she muttered as the doors to the elevator dinged and opened. y/n took a step forward before coming to a stop when another pair of shoes came into her view, she stepped aside muttering a sorry.

“oh, y/n..?” jeno’s voice was surprised, his phone held on his hand and his eyes wide. he looked at mark, who held the most disappointed look on his face, brows furrowed. jeno looked back at y/n in confusion.

she looked up at his voice and the sight of her wet cheeks, red nose and swollen eyes sent an alarm to jeno. his eyes widened as he stammered.

“fuck, y/n, I’m so sorry- i didn’t know-” jeno was at a loss of words as realization dawned on y/n and she smiled bitterly.

“it’s okay,” she simply said as she walked into the elevator and waited for the doors to close.

-

jaemin looked up as mark and jeno walked into the apartment, just at the same time as jisung and chenle stumbled out of their rooms, phone grasping in their hands.

“hyung, you gotta see this,” chenle shoved his phone into jaemin’s face. the latter took in a deep breath, taking the phone from the younger.

“jaem,” jeno muttered, eyes remorseful, “i’m so sorry,” he solemnly muttered out, and jaemin furrowed his brows in confusion before looking at the screen of chenle’s phone.

under the instagram picture, written in bold letters, the words “SHE SAID YES” and the small line underneath “thank you y/n for helping me make it even more memorable” were mocking him. and as jaemin ran his fingers through his hair for the nth time that evening and gripped his roots in a vice like grip, his eyes scanned the picture. the picture of kyunhee and who he assumed was his fiancé now. jaemin felt like the biggest idiot in the planet.

-

so as y/n helped kyunhee with the preparations of his engagement party with the biggest smile she could muster up, the happiness she painted on didn’t quite reach her eyes. jaemin had tried again and again to contact her but y/n made it a point to ignore all his texts and all his calls, only using her phone when extremely needed.

she helped her dear friend through the whole process, never missing a beat to tell him and the lucky girl how proud she was of them both.

kyunhee felt guilty taking her help, so much so that y/n had screamed at him to not give her the pity look. she had explained that she needed the distraction and after much thought he let her handle whatever she wanted.

he told himself if he ever came face to face with jaemin he would’ve made him taste his fist, but he knew they would resolve their misunderstanding. of course they would, they loved each other infinitly after all.

y/n was surprised when two days after the break up her mother came knocking on her door. at first she had thought jaemin had called her and as soon as she was about to send her mother away, the older woman had told, “i knew something wasn’t right, i could feel it.” and so y/n had her dearest mother at her apartment, making sure she got the energy she needed and she ate well.

jaemin on the other hand was lost. completely lost. he beat himself up for how he had talked to y/n, he scolded himself for not having talked it out. he regretted not listening to her when she was asking for him to listen.

he tried calling her a thousand times. he tried texting her from the boys’ phones and every time he would let a dry laugh out when she would reply “tell jaem i don’t want to speak.” he knew his girl knew him too well and he felt worse every time because how did he let go of her? what an idiot.

so it was with a heavy heart and jaw clenched in embarrassment that jaemin was standing in front of a building, waiting for the one he misunderstood. truth be told, he was nervous, for what he still didn’t know but he had a hunch.

“jaemin,” a voice pulled him out of his thoughts and jaemin turned to his right to come face to face with a poker face kyunhee. he cleared his voice, holding out his hand for a handshake.

“hey, i hope i didn’t mess up your schedule, i can only imagine how busy you are,” jaemin smiled a tight lipped smile. kyunhee stared at him for a second before deciding to be cooperative for y/n’s sake. he grasped jaemin’s hand and gave it a firm shake before letting go.

“you technically did,” he sighed, jaemin’s brows furrowed, a confused sound leaving his lips, “mess up my schedule. i had an appointment i had to cancel,” kyunhee said, arms crossing over his chest. jaemin blinked for a few seconds before muttering a soft sorry in embarrassment. silence fell upon the two guys. kyunhee’s eyes stayed put on jaemin’s wavering ones. he could practically see the wheels turning in the black haired guy.

“what the hell are you guys doing?” kyunhee sighed then. jaemin’s eyes snapped on him, eyes wide in alarm.

“i-i’m very sorry for misunderstanding your intentions. i really am,” jaemin blabbed, kyunhee rolled his eyes.

“why are you apologizing to me when the person you should apologize to is somewhere else?” kyunhee asked as a matter of fact.

“she doesn’t want to talk to me,” jaemin whispered, eyes looking away and jaw clenching. kyunhee scoffed catching jaemin’s attention again.

“yeah no shit she doesn’t,” the newly engaged one spat out and jaemin let out a humorless snicker, head nodding.

“you acted like a total dick to her, i don’t even know how she hasn’t blocked you yet,” kyunhee shot again and jaemin listened, for he knew he deserved it. the former’s eyes softened for a second at jaemin’s obvious miserable eyes, before hardening again.

“oi, dickhead,” he called jaemin, foot kicking at his shin, jaemin ducked to hold his shin out of instinct, eyes snapping up in despair.

“oi! what was that for?” he called.

“i won’t tell you to go to her place and beg for forgiveness, because quite frankly, that’s not going to work,” kyunhee deadpanned and jaemin nodded, hanging to his every word.

“give her time, jaemin, she’s hurt,” he continued.

jaemin stared at the floor at his feet as he thought. guilt enveloping him in its arms as usual these days. he took a deep breath again and looked up at his girlfriend’s friend, he offered a small smile.

“thank you, really,” jaemin muttered, genuine gratefulness in his voice, “for holding her up, i know it should’ve been me but i’m glad she has a friend like you, i’m really sorry again.”

“it’s okay, don’t worry about it. just think about what kind of pose you need to hold when you’re begging on your knees for her forgiveness,” kyunhee bit back in a lighter tone, feeling weird about all the formality. jaemin snorted the real smile in a while, grateful kyunhee got rid of the heavy serious air around them.

“congratulations on your engagement, by the way,” jaemin clapped the side of kyunhee’s arm and the latter thanked him, before a thought hit him and his eyes squinted as he looked at jaemin.

“uhhh why are you looking at me like that?” the black haired one asked, an unsure tone to his voice.

“you know what? why don’t you…”

-

“the place looks so pretty!” y/n turned to her mother with a proud smile as the older woman looked around the engagement party venue with sparkling eyes, “you did a great job, love,” she turned to y/n and lovingly caressed her face.

“thank you, mom,” y/n giggled, her hand grasping her mom’s as they made their way through the crowd.

the venue was decorated in hues of white and lilacs, the stage at the front of it was decorated with fresh flowers and thin branches giving it a very fresh look.

her eyes lit up when she saw her dear friend and his fiancé in the distance.

“let’s go say hi to kyunhee,” she told her mother as they made their way towards the couple.

-

it was thirty minutes later, when y/n was enjoying her time with a few friends and their families that the murmurs started.

at first y/n didn’t pay any attention to it because who cares if a handsome guy was at the party, she was already taken. well. not anymore, but that didn’t change the fact that her heart lay where jaemin was.

so imagine her surprise when she turned around to look around the place and her eyes fell on none other than the handsome guy everyone was talking about. na jaemin.

as soon as their eyes met y/n’s head snapped towards kyunhee a few meters away, talking to another guest, and the piece of shit had the audacity to smile at her and throw a wink before returning his eyes to the guest.

jaemin slowly came to a stop beside her, back as straight as a wooden plank, shoulders tense. he threw a tight lipped smile around the few people surrounding him as he greeted them.

“jaemin dear?” y/n’s mother’s eyes sparked up in adoration and y/n smiled softly at the scene as her mom engulfed a chuckling jaemin in her arms, hands grasping his face softly as she gushed over him.

“how long it has been, love, how are you?” she asked and jaemin chuckled before patting her back and stood back up straight to look at her.

“too long, sorry i couldn’t come to say hi sooner, i was stuck with all the assignments i pushed back,” he apologized, ever the gentleman and y/n’s eyes stung a bit as she blinked.

“ahh you study so well, but don’t neglect your health,” she smiled again as she hugged him tighter and jaemin nodded hugging her back. what he didn’t expect was the words the older woman whispered in his ear as she pulled away.

“make things right, love, fight for each other,” and she gave him the most loving smile as she said something about enjoying the evening and walked to a group of ladies.

jaemin’s eyes fell on y/n and she looked away as jaemin stepped up beside her as she pulled away from the small group, saying something about getting a glass of prosecco.

she threw him a side glance as she stopped at the table.

“why are you following me,” at the sound of her voice jaemin let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. his hand twitched to hold hers.

“i wanted some prosecco,” he muttered and a small smile pulled at his lips when she blushed in embarrassment before nodding and moving away with the glass in her hand, jaemin doing the same. the two stood at the side in silence.

“y/n,” jaemin called after a while and y/n hummed, her eyes trained to the live band, “i’m very sorry,” he whispered. y/n stopped in the middle of taking a sip before detaching the glass from her lips.

“i don’t want to talk about it, jaem,” she muttered before taking the sip, finishing the content in the flute all in one go. jaemin’s hand rested against the back of her waist in reflex.

“slow, you’re gonna get dizzy,” he muttered and y/n could hear the worry in his tone, and she hated it because how could he sound like that after all he had said.

there were a few things that put jaemin’s worry at rest. that assured him that y/n was still is girl. he felt a small smile tug at his lips when she called him by his nickname, when she didn’t push away his hand on her waist, his chest puffed out, and when she nodded at his words of worry he felt himself relax a bit.

“you’re beautiful,” he muttered loud enough for only y/n to hear as he took a sip of his prosecco, eyes set on her as she turned around with narrowed eyes, only to blush like crazy when her eyes met his. jaemin’s eyes held an intimacy she couldn’t hold right now. he let out a deep chuckle when her chest and neck set up in flames.

they stood there side by side as they watched the many couples dancing. jaemin’s eyes would settle on her every few seconds, so much so that she could feel it every time.

“what are you two doing?” y/n’s mother’s voice made the couple’s head snap to the side. y/n made sure a soft smile settled on her lips as her mother’s friends followed her.

“who’s this, y/n?” one of them asked, curious eyes settled onto jaemin, the latter giving a polite smile and a bow as he muttered his hellos. before y/n could answer, her mother chimed in.

“oh! this is jaemin, i told you about him! he’s my daughter’s boyfriend, such a gem, let me tell you. sweetest boy i ever met,” she gushed, and y/n’s panic stricken eyes met jaemin’s smiling ones. her eyes narrowed at his pleased look.

“oh my, he’s so gorgeous! you’re absolutely stunning, dear!” one of the women smiled as she caressed his cheek and jaemin chuckled, muttering a thank you.

“well, what are you two doing here? go for a dance!” y/n’s mother ushered as she pushed them to the clearing, where other couples were dancing.

y/n made to protest and push back but her words got swallowed up by the encouraging giggling of the older women as they stumbled upon the floor.

y/n looked at jaemin as he settled his prosecco flute on the tray of a passing waiter.

a few minutes later the two found themselves slowly swaying to the music. one of y/n’s hands in jaemin’s as his other hand rested against the middle of her back. his thumb brushed slowly in a comforting manner, so much so that y/n found herself stopping from leaning her head on his shoulder out of instict.

jaemin’s eyes stayed on her features as hers looked anywhere but him. his heart hurt that she didn’t want to even look at him, but he also understood. he had hurt her deeply, after all.

“y/n,” he called, voice loud enough only for her to hear. she hummed in acknowledgment, “look at me,” he tapped his thumb against her back and she reluctantly looked up at him.

“i’m sorry,” he squeezed her hand, and she remained silent. she didn’t know what to say. what do you say to sorry when you can’t say it’s okay? do you ignore it? do you say i heard you? do you just nod? what do you do?

people say sorry and expect everything to be fine, they say sorry when they know the answer is going to be it’s okay. but, to y/n it wasn’t okay, it couldn’t be okay. she didn’t know if it would be anytime soon or anything. all she knew was that she was hurt, extremely hurt. so she couldn’t say it’s okay.

she loved jaemin tremendously. so much so it was scary. she loved him so much her chest hurt sometimes, her lungs felt like giving out and her heart felt like squeezing the life out of it. it was painful how much she actually loved him. she felt like crying if she didn’t ignore how much she actually loved him.

not because it was unhealthy, but because she knew she would give it all up for him. she couldn’t dwell too much on the love she harbored for him, she just had to live with the knowledge that she loved him a lot. she knew if she tried to think about how much she loved him she would cry so much it would worry him. and she didn’t know how she could ever explain that.

because how do you explain to someone you love them so much you want to cry because your heart hurts, it hurts so much because even your heart is too small to contain that much love. because you love everything about them, all of it. and you know how cheesy it is when people list out all the reasons why they love someone but your love is different; you can’t pin point what exactly you love, you can’t pin point what makes you happy about them, and you can’t bring yourself to just find one physical attribute you love about them because that would be a lie, because that’s not why you love them, and you can’t say personality because as much as that’s the closest thing as to why you love them, it’s not quite there yet.

you just love them. the essence of what and who they are, with all their flaws and imperfections and all things perfect, it’s just them entirely. it’s their ability to smile when they’re hurting, it’s the way they make mistakes and they learn, the way they just are. and you can’t explain it so you just accept it that when someone asks why you love them you’ll just have to say a measly i love everything about them, and as cute as that sounds it’s so basic and so underwhelming to what you actually feel but that’s all that you’re able to say.

so y/n stared at jaemin’s eyes and her eyes stung and moistened up because she could feel her heart hurting, because she let herself actually feel how much she loved him. yes, he hurt her. yes, she was in pain. but the pain she felt from loving him was so much greater and so much more overwhelming.

jaemin was quick to softly push his hand on her back and encourage her to rest her head on his shoulder, knowing how much she hated crying in public. she gladly took the support, resting her forehead on his shoulder. he hushed her as his lips pressed against her hair.

“you hurt me,” she said, and jaemin rested her hand clasped in his on his other shoulder, fingers squeezing hers, arm tightening around her back.

“i know, i’m so sorry, really, i’m so sorry, princess,” he muttered, lips pressed to her hair.

“i felt like i lost everything,” she started, voice trembling as she forced herself to not cry, “everything we build up, everything we went through, i felt like i lost all of it. i tried to care so much for you, i tried to show you how much i loved so hard, but i-” her voice choked, “-i felt like i lost it all, and you wouldn’t even listen to me. i was so alone, i felt so alone,” she continued, and jaemin’s eyes stung as he listened to her, because that was all she needed; for him to listen to her.

he brought her hands behind his neck as he grasped her face in his hands and pulled her back to look her in the eyes. he sent her a soft smile as his thumbs caressed her cheeks.

“i’m so sorry i made you feel like that. i’m an absolute asshole,-” “yes you are,” he chuckled as she interrupted him, “i will make it up to you. i swear, i will, please accept my apologies.”

his lips downturned as she shook her head before his brows furrowed in confusion when she rested her head back on his shoulder and crossed her fingers at the back of his neck.

“make it up to me and maybe i will,” she spoke softly and jaemin smiled fondly as he rest one arm around her waist and the other rose up to caress her head lovingly, and y/n’s eyes closed at the action, a smile pulling at her lips.

“deal,” he chuckled, before he smiled teasingly, “i’m surprised you didn’t cry, you crybaby,” he teased and she mutter a fuck you.

“why would i cry,” she scoffed and jaemin laughed at her words.

after a beat of silence, “i read somewhere if you clench your butthole right when you’re about to cry it stops the waterworks, guess it works.”

and jaemin laughed loudly as she shook in his arms from her own laughter.

[17:23]

everything felt like a fuzzy dream. the joking banters, the funny texts, the innocent teasing, the jokes thrown here and there, the gradual comfort they were building around each other, it was small but noticeable to her.

maybe she noticed the way she started relaxing around him because she spent so much time keeping her guard up that letting loose in so long felt almost easing, like a cold shower on a warm sunny day.

she was so lost in the way he messed around with her, that she forgot about the bigger, impending, truth that may lay behind his action. that or she simply didn’t know until someone opened her eyes for her.

since they met five months prior, they always had a cat and mouse kind of relationship, much like the one she had with everyone else in the friend group. she had always kept her guard up around people, new and old alike, always careful to not let them in too much, to not say too much about her life. the fear of not being able to trust anyone fully way too big. and after the only person she could ever trust wholly, broke up with her, that thought only reinforced itself. because she knew she would never be able to trust anyone as much as she trusted her last lover. so when they broke up a few months before she started being comfortable around minho, she decided she didn’t want to let anyone know. for she didn’t want anyone to think she was what people called “fresh on the market”.

she didn’t know when she started loosening up around him. maybe it started when after all the play fighting on the field, that one day they had a group picnic, she started her period right before they left for home and her cramps hit her. and as she tried helping everyone carry the remnants of what was left of their belongings, he had fallen in step with her and with already a bag in each hand he had softly taken the heavy water case from her hand muttering a “here, give it to me,” and she had protested that she could carry it only for him to scold her, “good for you, now give that here. you’re already in pain.”

or maybe it was when she went to that birthday party and he insisted her drink a few sips from his glass because, “i didn’t mix too much vodka, it’s almost all sprite,” he had muttered just so their friends would stop bothering her and she would be able to have fun.

or again, maybe it was when he invited her, felix and moonbin to his house for dinner with his mother. they had stayed at his place until almost 2am and they had fun writing funny things on the white board in his room and taking polaroids, and when the picture developed he had cackled loudly and, “i cannot believe this! your dress looks like we’re wearing matching pajamas,” he had pointed out.

or maybe it was when the same night he had jokingly given her a Yu Gi Oh card and told her to put it in her clear phone case, saying something about “the monster’s lips look like it’s blowing someone off, and you’re good at that, right?” and she had promptly thrown a few punches and kicks while he laughed loudly and taken her phone to put the card on top of her photocard, saying a “do not change it.”

or once more, maybe when he would promptly check every time they met after if she had changed the card and once he saw that she indeed did he would wrestle her to jokingly tell her he would throw away the photocard once he gets his hands on it.

and the fact he made her download a texting app when he deactivated on all social media because of his studies just to text non stop didn’t exactly help her.

or how when he asked advice on skincare, she had suggested about a cleanser she couldn’t find anywhere but was insanely good for her, he had come over the next day with the cleanser in hand. when she told him “ayy you got it!” thinking he had bought it on his way to her place, he had said, “that’s for you, i bought two.” and when she said he didn’t need to he said, “it’s okay, you said you couldn’t find it anywhere, so,” and he had shrugged his shoulders like nothing.

it was always the small things.

and maybe it was the day he was sharing with her and felix about his rocky again off again relationship that she thought that maybe she could tell him that she had broken up with her lover. and so she had signed subtly to felix if she should say something about her private life when they made a deal of all three saying something about their love life because minho didn’t want to be the only one to share stuff. but felix shook his head and trusting her childhood friend blindly she had said nothing.

nothing until a week after he texted her asking if she woke up early in the morning to talk to her long distance boyfriend, and she had thought she had avoided the question when she said something about her waking up late everyday. later, when she had told that to felix laughing, he had chuckled and told her, “don’t tell him, he’ll tell moonbin right away.”

moonbin. moonbin was the truth she had forgotten.

moonbin, a close friend, who happened to have a crush on her. her, when everyone knew she was taken. her, when all she wanted was to be friends with everyone. moonbin, who had just gone through a messy break up from a relationship he still wasn’t over, claimed he liked her.

and the day she found out she couldn’t lie and say she was surprised nor was that she thrilled. and moonbin’s every nice action made her feel like he did it because he had ulterior reasons and as much as felix told her he was just that nice to everyone, she didn’t like the unsettling feeling in her bones. because she didn’t want people spending money on her just to hold it over them. she hated the feeling of being indebted to people.

and somehow the fact that moonbin had told everyone around the friend circle about his crush on her didn’t sit well with her. she hated the feeling of everyone knowing what goes on behind all of his teasing and possibly teasing her about it or the nightmare that was shipping. she absolutely hated all that, finding the act of shipping and teasing to be childish. she liked her life to be private, her romantic life more than every other aspect, and sadly moonbin wasn’t like that.

and the other big thing was that she had no feelings for moonbin, and to a certain extent she didn’t have any feeling for minho either. the only thing she knew was that minho, unlike moonbin, made her feel like she could talk to him without fearing him discussing her problems with anyone else. or maybe she just didn’t know him that well, but she couldn’t deny the comforting feeling he carried around, like he would listen to anyone sharing their problems with him. which she knew she wasn’t the only one feeling that way.

and as she sat on the floor of her room that morning with felix, she felt her walls slowly going up again between her and minho. and her mind started getting clouded again by questions she didn’t, nor she would ever have answers to.

did he try to warm up to me to wingman moonbin?
did he just want to find out about my relationship status to tell moonbin?

did he not want to be my friend just because, maybe, he liked my personality?

was this all it was about?

and the ever persistent reason why she never could open up to anyone came back. the constant feeling of not being worth of friends with came back. nobody would want to be friends without any other motive. and the thought brought back all the other bad feelings she had slowly learned to overcome slowly.

so she told herself that she needed to close off again. she needed to be like before. unknown, but someone that was important to keep around because she was childhood friends with felix.

so that day, when minho texted her, she didn’t reply as fast as she usually would, and she decided she wouldn’t get any closer anymore.

author’s note: i think i wrote this someday during spring of 2020, when i wasn’t in a good place. this hits a bit close to home and is way too personal but bc i’m a person that doesn’t really express themselves that much i found out writing helps a lot so here it is lol
i hope you enjoy reading this

She felt small sitting under Changbin’s cold gaze, her eyes kept shifting here and there to always end up falling down to her twiddling fingers.

It had been a little over fifteen minutes, and he hadn’t said a word. She knew what the matter was, but she was scared of where this was leading.

“Tell me what’s up,” Changbin suddenly said. Y/n’s head snapped up at his voice. Her eyes stared at his face for a while.

“What?” She muttered, hating how hesitant she sounded. When did things become so uncomfortable.

“What’s wrong with you?” He asked again, his usual higher, sweet voice now low and gruff. Y/n gulped.

Suddenly she understood why everyone said Changbin was scary when angry, although she didn’t know if he was angry or upset. Either ways, it was scary.

“I don’t understand,” she mumbled only for him to quickly snap back.

“Bullshit. Tell me,” he demanded, arms crossed. And god, it was so intimidating.

“Can you not intimidate me so much,” she asked, a nervous snicker leaving her lips. Changbin didn’t give any signs of change. Y/n cleared her throat her eyes falling once again to her fingers.

“You want to break up?” Changbin suddenly asked, his voice cold and almost mocking. Y/n closed her eyes, head down. She felt so small in front of him.

Things hadn’t been going the best between them for a while. And where it first started because Changbin couldn’t keep his promise of always making time for her when she needed it, it followed with her slowly distancing herself and closing off. The loneliness too much to bear at times.

And she got so used to him not being there that she made friends with the loneliness. It provided her more comfort than Changbin did.

She knew she shouldn’t have put so much of herself into a guy, after all it happened before too. But Changbin was different.

He had to be, right? He was my bestfriend, he knew me so well. I had no reason to watch my back as I let myself fall with my eyes closed. He could read me so well. Then why wasn’t he there when I called for him? Why was I cast aside the same way I was before? Why did he forget what I cried to him about in the past while I was with someone else? How did he forget about his bestfriend?

He promised. As soon as you feel like I’m not giving you enough time, you tell me, and I will drop whatever I’m doing to talk to you and vice versa, he said. If you need me at any moment, you call me, and I will too, he said. I want this to work, i love you so much, he said. I will try my best so it doesn’t get to the point where I don’t give you enough time, he said.

So when she called the first time why did he snicker and tell her he had to figure some stuff out now that he was in university, with it being the first few weeks of it, and things being chaotic. And she understood.

But then he was figuring things out, sorting out his schedule, socializing, partying, making new friends, hanging out with them, going to classes, having meetings with the clubs he joined. And where did she fall in between all that? So she understood.

And when she couldn’t, she called him asking for just a ten minute call a day, she would be okay with just that. Just ten minutes of his attention.

And you can call her an attention whore, that’s okay. She can be one for her boyfriend if she wanted to, she had every right to ask for a little of his attention.

But why didn’t she receive that ten minute call after the fourth day? Why were his texts coming in so late?

30 minutes. 1 hour. 2 hours. 3 hours.

She trusted him, blindly, she knew him all too well not to. He was her bestfriend.

So she called again, tried to get her ten minute call. He was never alone. Friends always surrounding him, and where she was glad and happy for him that he clicked with a circle in university, so he didn’t have to be alone and drowning in his thoughts, she also sat there, on the phone with him, while he sat there with his friends.

And she spoke, fuck, she tried to tell him stuff that happened in her daily life like she always did. She just wanted to fucking talk to her bestfriend like she did the past five years. But who would she speak to when he wasn’t listening to a word she said.

So sometimes she would abruptly stop talking and see if he’d notice. He wouldn’t. And if he would it would be when it’s been too silent on the other side and he would say, “hello? You there?”“Yeah!” She would say in a light voice, so he wouldn’t notice.

And then she was the one drowning. And she hated water, goddammit, she hated it so much, she was terrified of it but she would choose that over the drowning she was going through.

The voices in her head too many, drowning her, screaming over her, comforting her. Because now someone was talking.

Comfort was loneliness, and again, she got used to the sweet lullaby the silence would sing. So loud, yet so calming.

Because silence can’t hurt you, loneliness can’t disappoint you. They won’t ever leave you.

And in months, she was closed off once again.

Where she had her bestfriend in the past, she had no one now.

And she hated herself for it, she hated it because she lost her bestfriend. The only person that could ever help her, the only person that she could ever run to, the only person that she could say anything to.

Suddenly she had no one to help her, that she could run to or that she could talk to.

And everything was back on being suffocating. The empty feeling sucking her in it’s black hole, the constant lost feeling looming over her.

She couldn’t talk to him about herself anymore, she just couldn’t.

So she knew he was meaninglessly taunting her with that question, but was it even appropriate when he knew they were on the rocks? Was he so willing to ask such a risky thing when she was so used to being alone?

Changbin stared at the girl in front of him, wondering what happened.

She used to be so full of light, so full of life. And now she was just a shell of her old self. She was doing so good, they were doing so good.

And he knew it was mostly his fault, and damn, did he hate himself for it. He should’ve seen it before. The signs were obvious.

How did he not see it? He had spent a lot of his time in the arms of the same loneliness for so long, how did he not see it?

He had spent so much of his teenage life, if not all of it, drowning in his own loneliness, his own voices. He had been lost for so long, and she was the one that gave him hope. She helped him without even realizing. Hell, even he didn’t know. Then how did he let this happen to her?

What games was fate playing with him?

He had told her so many times how small things she did or said helped him cope up so much when he was the one drowning. His bestfriend was the light at the end of the tunnel.

How did he push her down the same tunnel he struggled to come out of? The same tunnel she helped him out of? How did he turn his back on the same hands that helped steady him without even knowing anything? How dare he?

He saw her in this state before, he helped her out of it when that bastard shoved her too deep into the claws of self hatred. Loneliness her most comforting friend back then too. He helped her out of it, then how did he let her fall again?

His hands felt clammy now, his body heating up as he tried to keep his emotions at bay.

She gulped down the lump in her throat, not wanting him to see her weak and bothered. She didn’t want to worry him. She hated the thought of him thinking he had to watch over her, he had to keep her from falling again. She didn’t want to be a burden, she felt like that her whole life already.

She took a deep breath as she looked up at him, a small sad smile on her lips and Changbin held in his breath not believing but also knowing where this was going. And it broke the couple’s heart.

“That would be the most reasonable think to do, don’t you think?” She asked, and fuck why did she have to sound so sweet yet so heartbreaking? He thought, gulping down.

“No, we can make this work,” he furrowed his eyebrows, stubborn, hopeful. And y/n almost smiled at her stubborn baby, but she couldn’t. He hadn’t been her baby in a long time.

“Changbin,” she whispered and Changbin hated it. Hated how she called him, how she made him sound pathetic and like a baby and an involuntary sob escaped his lips.

And almost immediately she got up from her seat on his desk chair and her arms were around his wide shoulders as his head pressed against her stomach. Her own tears running down her cheeks as she quietly sobbed with him.

“I’m so sorry,” he choked out, arms tightly secured around her thighs. She nodded, her cheek resting against his hair as she stroked his locks with one hand, the other secured around his shoulders.

“I’m very sorry, too,” she spoke against his hair, her voice strained.

“No, I was supposed to be there for you. You told me you were not okay, I should’ve been there for you, I-I should’ve, should’ve,” she shushed him, wrapping both of her arms around him and bending forward to rest her head against his shoulder.

“Don’t,” she scolded softly, her constant tears probably wetting his hair as they ran down.

“Don’t lose yourself, okay?” She reminded him, her fingers running through his hair again as she stood up straight. She felt Changbin’s arms tighten a bit more.

“Stop worrying about me, think about yourself for once,” he sternly spoke, his voice rough. He refused to let go. He just needed a little bit more.

“I will,” she said nodding, even though he couldn’t see her and Changbin snorted.

“No, you won’t,” he spat out and she flinched because she knew it too but she decided not to say anything.

-

She had left after calming him down but to be honest, both of them knew the other broke down crying as soon as they were out of each other’s sight.

Changbin stared at his bedroom ceiling, staring at nothing in particular.

A knock at the door brought his attention to it, his eyes shifting to Bang Chan standing at the door.

The older walked in, a tight lipped smile on his lips as he handed a cold water bottle to his friend.

“Thanks, hyung,” Changbin smiled at him, sitting up and taking a sip of the water right away.

“Don’t worry, Bin. Everything will be okay,” he softly spoke, his hand comfortingly grasping Changbin’s shoulder, and the younger couldn’t help but nod, hopeful. Trusting his oldest friend.

“I hope so too,” he muttered.

FROM THE OPEN bathroom door and its faint amber light, the fuzzy silhouette clears sharper as he approaches it adjacent to the bed you lie in, palms touching and tucked under your cheek.

Your eyes should burn from the long workday you’ve had, from the amount of TV you watched, lukewarm microwave dinner leaving marks of steam on the thrifted coffee table. But your eyelids stress to stay creased as you hear the clack of those heavy black boots exit the bathroom to finally reach the bed frame.

Jake knows that you’re awake so he doesn’t try to avoid making sounds or hide the fact he brought a blunt in. Knows that you stay awake for him to come home and that he barely made it before four A.M. today. Almost made you tug the thin sheets back off your body to call to Jay, see whether he had gotten wasted and crashed at his house or had finally gotten hauled to the county jail cell.

It’s exactly 3:58 and you know because you’ve been counting in your head. You’ve gotten good at it after all these months.

Sensing the ruffle of tough fabric as him shrugging his jacket off, it lands with a loud clunk against the metal stand of the lamp in the corner. You can smell the weed and tequila as he sits on his side of the bed, a few feet away from you.

The desire to nag, to get Jake to shower, brush his teeth, and tell him to come home earlier next time has died on your tongue recently. You wish you could wrangle the strength to fight again but it’s too tiring. More tiring than staying up and waiting for the familiar struggle of his dented keys scratching marks on the apartment lock.

His upper body flies back to hit the stiff mattress, head hitting the soles of your feet crammed under the blankets in a fetal position. He wiggles his head so that it tucks between your heels and your ass, a makeshift pillow for the blasting headache you know Jake always gets when he crossfades.

A calloused hand blindly pats up to your space, fingertips finally landing on your hair and tangling in the mess for the sensation. A rush of smoke enters your peripheral from a puff he takes deeply and you finally twist your head.

“Jake. Finish it outside and come to bed.”

A sigh is the answer you get.

He waits for you to shift, to start repeating yourself and slowly build to that anger you’ve got buried within this crumbling foundation you two have been nestling for a year but… it doesn’t come. It hasn’t come all week for some reason.

But he can still hear it now.

Jake, go. Go, I hate the smell. Go. Shower and come back to me. Come back to us.”

He’s exaggerating with the last sentence. Maybe it’s what he hopes he would hear. To know that you don’t just tolerate his broken self, that you want to go back to the ways things were before everything went wrong.

Jake’s ears catch the pillow sink and for your hair to pull away from his loose grasp as you turn from him again. His heart pumps louder, threatening to spill out of his chest. He can hear it pound on his eardrums, the thrumming from the ceiling fan in the center of the one-room apartment reaching his consciousness somehow and making the nerves along his forearms itch.

With a heave getting up, he snuffs out the short blunt and tosses it on the ashtray by his bedside table. Dusting off the ashes from his fingers, blunt nails scrape on his hairline and then he hops in his seat to pull the blankets from under his weight and the coldly patted space.

Jake runs a hand down your curled side as another attempt. Somewhere within the haze of his mind, his sober self is very much panicked at the sight he’s been dreading for a while. It looks like the time has finally come where you’ve pulled away from him.

He could wake up tomorrow, find your side empty for the last time. Not because you left for work early, or to get aspirin and a Gatorade for his hangover soon, or get him breakfast before you headed to your 9 to 5.

No… you’d be gone from his life forever

And usually, you’d sink into his frame. Try to treasure the small amount of intimacy he used to so freely provide, no matter whether or not your boyfriend was inebriated. But you don’t move back at all.

He puts so much effort to silence the noises of the yells on the street level outside, the howling of the sharp winds this starry night, that creaking faucet in the bathroom, and that stupid fucking fan.

Just to hear your breathing and see if it’s evened out. It is.

And Jake can’t force himself to sink back into your hold either.

|—————|

The whimpers behind your back wake you.

You would’ve figured that Jake had moved to the living room if he was going to have his nightmares but he’s laid beside you by dawn when your eyes crack open. The weight of his arm warms your side and you wonder when he slinked over to you, finally tempted to breach the unspoken boundary between you two since last Sunday.

Sitting up, you note the beads of sweat on Jake’s forehead, the strands of hair darkened and matted to his wet face.

You shake him lightly, a tone of worry laced in your groggy voice. “Jake? Jake?”

Getting more panicked at his mumbles, lips downturned and nose slope scrunched in the agony of his usual night terrors, you tug the blankets off his body. Cupping his face and slapping lightly does nothing to snap him out. His legs start kicking and you climb over his chest.

“Baby, wake up. Baby. Baby, wake up, please.”

Swearing under your breath when you tug the sheets off him, the neck of his white tee is drenched clear. Your hand places a palm to his forehead and it feels like nearing a hot stove. Looking around quickly, you handle a three-day-old water bottle, twist the cap open, and pour it over his face.

Jake gasps, eyes wide open in shock and nearly uplifting your entire body off his figure as he bolts into an upright position. Grasping onto his shoulders and desperately trying to peer into his eyes, your trials to calm him down don’t connect in his mind.

Jumping off the bed and struggling to tug your heavy boyfriend out, you expend massive amounts of energy to drag him to the bathroom, fumbling with knobs until the shower runs on and you push Jake off the edge of the tub into cooling water.

Time moves in slow motion for him, eyelids clenched shut as he plunges backward into the icy droplets. They drench him, sucking the air out of his tight lungs and forcing a puff of alcoholic breath and fog in his mind to burst like a bubble.

The blurriness in his irises fades and when Jake looks up at you, a shot of anxiety snaps in your throat, seizing it for no air to come sucking into your chest. Those wide eyes, so familiar from the beginning of your relationship, stare back at you. Crouching on the floor, your own irises and tough swallow are taken in by Jake’s overbearing gaze.

“Are you alright?”

It takes several seconds before Jake reaches over to push the knob off, slouching in the tub, legs hanging out and heavy lashes blinking sluggishly once more.

“What did you take tonight?”

Irrational fury flashes in the brown eyes you had seen soften earlier at the sight of you. Watching it die out for him to lash out makes your heart sink.

He’s defensive. “Nothing. Nothing different.”

“Then why…?” Your confused and mellow voice further infuriates him.

He had fallen asleep with the thoughts of waking up without you in his life anymore, pushing the pain away with slumber but here you were.

So loyal and loving and caring like you always were with him. Jake knew he could be the most horrible being on Earth and your too-big, too-empathetic eyes could still look at him adoringly. Like he still held the moons and stars in his palms and you would cherish him for it.

“Go to bed.” Jake’s hands slip as he clutches the edge of the tub, yanking himself up with a stumble.

You stand with him, nimble hands out to clutch the hem of his soaked tee, “Wait until your temperature goes down, I’ll get a change of clothes—”

No,” He interrupts, cold glare serious and closed off, “Go to bed.”

Swallowing the rejection, you can only be still like a statue as Jake uses the sink counter to steady before his wet feet slap to the bed and then the drawers scrape against wood.

As you slowly approach the mattress again, you eye the pillowed space you two share. A lighter sits on Jake’s case. It forces your throat to tighten, then you look at the pile on the ashtray.

The sick smell sticks to your clothes, even if you do everything to get rid of it. Do everything to stop it from infiltrating this apartment and infiltrating Jake’s head. Infiltrate and replace you as a way to release his stress.

Whatever had messed with him so bad in the first place has torn what used to be your home apart.

You’re so tired.

Jake stills at the sound of a sniffle. And when he looks over to your corner, you’re turned around and wiping at your cheeks. Guilt and exasperation mix to bring forth his exasperated voice.

“Y/N,whatare you crying about?”

Your voice warbles and you despise it for doing so.

Nothing.” Climbing back under the sheets, you face away from him again. Jake can’t stand it.

Placing a knee on the bed, he bends over you to clutch your shoulder.

“Y/N, don’t lie to me, come on. Why are you crying? I didn’t fucking take anything other than weed tonight. I promised you that before—”

Your shrug to get him off causes his fingers to limp on your figure. “Jake, change. Just change.”

He wants to fight. Wants to see you react with something other than dismalness so Jake continues.

“I did. I did, I changed my shirt—”

“No,everything,” You turn, now fully pushing his hand away from your body, “I can’t stand the smell—”

“It’sweed, Y/N! Surely you’ve fucking gotten used to it by now—”

“I don’t care, Jake, pleasejust listen to me and change—”

“I’vechanged!I’ve fucking changed—!”

You stand, unable to lay and take it anymore. Unplugging your phone from its charger, you pocket it and grab your bag as well. Jake follows, lips twisted at your sudden movement.

“Where are you going?”

Shrugging on your jacket from the coat rack and dipping to slip on your sneakers, he swallows roughly in your space, crowding with panic and confusion in his tone while he calls your name repeatedly.

“I can’t. I can’t tonight, I can’t do it.”

It’s all you can say to excuse yourself, the wet trails on your cheeks continuing to flow as Jake gets louder and louder. He attempts to close the front door and stop you but you wait patiently and don’t fight him, only able to shut your eyelids tight and pray for him to get the clue.

You couldn’t muster the energy to scream or protest or anything else you would usually do.

Was this the last straw?

The flurry of noise in your ears fades when Jake digs his nails into your forearms, firmly grasping them and uprooting your feet to bring you close to his big frame. At the tenseness and uneasiness in your expression, he cracks.

“Y/N, don’t leave. Don’tleave alright? Don’t leave, please, please don’t. Don’t.”

He lets go after several seconds of scrutinizing the tears he’s caused to leak from your eyes. Watching your tight swallow and attempt to seem collected, his heart clenches.

“I’ll crash at Eunha’s.”

Don’t. Stay. I’ll sleep on the couch.”

“Ican’tbe in the same room right now, Jake!” Your sudden desperation makes him jerk back.

He takes several seconds to pull a meek, “Okay,” from his cracked lips.

You’re too exhausted to feel bad about the harshness of your words. Sighing, Jake pushes his back against the wall to get out the way of the front door and you twist the knob, leaving.

Jake feels his headache return tenfold. The fan keeps going and at the registering of the fucking annoying noise in his head, he stumbles to the middle of your shared one-room apartment, yanking on the thin metal chain for the fan to stop whirling.

All things came to a halt. The apartment sits frozen except for the frustrated breath that escapes Jake’s lips as he hears your feet walk farther and farther away from him.

this fic is not meant to represent Seonghwa in any way, shape or form.

The pizza tastes more like grease than actual food, the building is far too crowded, and there are not enough chairs at the table.

So, in other words, it is a typical Friday night.

“Woo stole half my slices,” You complain to no one in particular, the same thing you say every Friday night when you and your friend group descends upon the pizza place near Hongjoong’s apartment building.

Wooyoung, who is halfway through his fourth piece, grins at you with a full mouth. You go to kick him but Yeosang yelps instead. Whoops. San is over by the jukebox, spending ages picking a song. This is how it always goes.

The pizza place is one of those hole in the wall businesses that has a clientele just of locals. The food is cheap, the beer cheaper, and the neon signs a little too bright, warping everything just enough to make the place feel surreal.

Every Friday, your friend group piles into the building, taking up half the restaurant in a noisy pile. This is how it has been for a few years now with little change. It is a comforting routine, one that has yet to be displaced in your life.

Your phone buzzes in your lap, drawing your attention from the stolen pizza. Glancing downwards, the name winks up at you: Pen Pal.

Checking to make sure that your friend next to you isn’t paying attention (and she isn’t, having secretly harbored a crush on Mingi for two years now, too busy staring at him to notice anything else), you open the text.

“Another Friday night and I’m thinking about you in my lap.

You fight off a smile, not wanting anyone to ask what has captivated you. It is too difficult to explain that a text sent to you accidentally instead of the right number six months ago sparked off a series of sexting messages that continue to this day. How do you try to tell a person that you sext a total stranger, have never seen them, and know nothing about, including their name? The person apologized for the wrong message sent late one night, which had been risqué, and the two of you kept texting. One thing led to another and now you regularly sext with an anonymous person. People would think the situation is odd although you don’t know how it is any different than what others do online regularly.

You are about to reply when the table jolts and a curse flies through the air. Startled, you look upwards to see Hongjoong apologizing for spilling beer all over Seonghwa’s plate. Seonghwa has a slight scowl on his face although it is difficult to gauge if it is his regular one that he wears often or from the beer spilling.

Out of everyone in the friend circle, it is Seonghwa that you know the least. It isn’t that you dislike him or anything. But there is a disconnect between him and everyone else; it simply boils down to the fact that Seonghwa comes from money, a lot of money, and can be out of touch because of it. Hongjoong had met him back in college, the two striking up a fast friendship, and therefore ushering Seonghwa into the circle.

Your conversations with Seonghwa have been minor. Even though he is objectively stunning to look at with his slender frame, high cheekbones, and slightly aloof manner that seems to have people tripping over themselves for his attention, you have kept your distance. He has always gotten whatever he wanted, including people, and you find it off putting.

Hongjoong is trying to mop up the beer off the slice of pizza with a napkin as Seonghwa looks down at it distastefully.

“It’s fine,” He cuts off Hongjoong swiftly, “I’ll just buy another slice.”

“Why don’t you buy the whole pizza place while you’re at it?” San remarks as he returns to the table, Woo cackling at the joke.

“I would but I doubt this place turns a profit. Amazing it is still here.” Seonghwa replies coolly, standing up. “Does anyone else want anything?”

Naturally, Wooyoung does. As people shout their orders, your attention turns back to your phone, typing up the reply, “Now doesn’t that sound comfortable?” It is exciting to text someone that has no impact on your life, no strings attached, just mindless sexting without anything else to worry about.

Your friend nudges you, shattering your thoughts as you glance upwards. “What?”

“I asked if you need anything.” It is Seonghwa who is speaking directly to you, his phone lighting up in the palm of his hand as he shoves it in the pocket of his designer jeans.

“Nope, I’m good, thanks.” You reply, turning your attention to your friend.

That has always been the extent of your conversations with Seonghwa.

               Until tonight.

*

It is close to midnight when everyone begins to amble home. You live close enough to walk and are shrugging on your jacket when your phone goes off again. You check the message from the anonymous pen pal which says boring night, would rather you were sucking my cock. The message makes you both blush and feel a heat in between your legs.

“Hey, come on,” Your friend nudges you, leaving the message unanswered for the moment.

Leaving the pizza place, stepping out into the city, a swirl of Friday night activity, everyone begins to head in different directions. A few wait for Ubers, others opt to walk, and some, like San and Wooyoung, are going to another bar. Seonghwa is waiting for his limo, off to the side, away from everyone, checking his phone.

“You want me to walk with you?” Your friend offers.

“Nah, it’s only like a five minute walk. I’ll text you when I get home,” You nod at Hongjoong who passes by, his apartment in the opposite direction of yours, “Talk soon.”

A group piles into an Uber, leaving just a couple left now. As the night comes to a close, you begin your walk. On the way past Seonghwa, his head snaps up and he begins to trail after you. Curiously, you stop, looking over your shoulder.

“Uh, hey.” You say, unsure of his sudden focus shifting like this.

“Can I talk to you for a moment?”

Your curiosity hitting an all time high, you turn around to face him. Seonghwa is wearing just a simple black t-shirt and jeans but you aren’t fooled. The clothes easily cost more than a month’s rent on your tiny shoebox apartment. His cologne even smells expensive. His black hair has not a strand out of place even though it is windy tonight.

“Yeah, what’s up?” You are wondering if going to get iced coffee again in the morning would be a bad idea because you have already justified “treating yourself” to it multiple times this week, your focus already drifting away from Seonghwa.

“I wanted to ask if you would want to go out sometime next week on a date.”

All thoughts of iced coffee are quickly expunged from your brain. “I’m sorry, can you repeat that?” Surely, you have misunderstood.

Impatience creeps slightly into his voice as he says the same sentence again. Confused, you can only stare at him for a few seconds before going, “Why?”

He seems taken aback by this. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, why are you asking me out? We barely talk. I know we see each other a lot because we have friends in common but I don’t understand what brought this on.”

Seonghwa looks genuinely confused. His brows furrow, his head tilted slightly to one side, lips pursed as he thinks about your question. For some reason, the fact he doesn’t have an answer at the tip of his tongue annoys you.

“I just thought you’d want to go out with me.” He finally replies in the same questioning tone.

This brings you up short. “What is this, some sort of favor to me? Did you go down a list and see you hadn’t asked me out yet or something?”

“Well, you’re always talking about how you don’t get to do anything fun because you’re on a budget so I thought I’d do you a favor and ask you out.” The light from a nearby neon bar sign bathes him in a blue hue, making him look like he has stepped out of a painting. When a strong gust of wind kicks up, his hair finally moves slightly, bringing his appearance back from other worldly to grounded in reality.

You don’t even know how to reply and for a few seconds, you are speechless. His words and attitude are so offensive that all you can do is stare at him as if he has grown a second head.

“What?” He asks, somewhat defensively, “I don’t understand why you look upset.”

You take a step towards him, looking at his face – his perfect face, with the blue neon smattered lightly against high cheekbones, his eyes hazy with confusion, his hands jammed into his pockets. “You are not doing me a favour by asking me out, Seonghwa. I’m not some poor person you can take pity on and think you are doing charity because you want to dazzle me with your money. I don’t care that you’re rich.”

He clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth, looking slightly exasperated now. “Fine, I get it. You don’t care about my money. Everyone says that at first. But it simply isn’t true. Everyone cares about money. So, let me take you out.”

You suddenly feel a sharp pang of pity for the handsome man in front of you who has been lucky enough to find a friendship with Hongjoong. In that friendship Seonghwa has found the only man on the planet who hasn’t been impressed by his money or attempted to manipulate him to gain closer access to wealth. How many times must have Seonghwa mistakenly believed that his only asset is his wealth – to the point that he flaunts it so openly to garner attention? Suddenly, you feel as if you understand him more than ever before like a dirty mirror being cleaned.

“No, you misunderstood. I don’t care about your money because I don’t care about you in that way, Seonghwa.” You say gently, knowing that the only thing you can gift him in this moment is the assurance that his wealth is not even a passing thought for you and certainly not a reason to go out with him.

Seonghwa is startled into silence. You take one last look at him, fighting the urge to gently pat him on the shoulder, aware that no one has rejected him before. Then, you turn around and begin your walk home, leaving Seonghwa standing in the blue light.

*

It isn’t until the following weekend that you see Seonghwa again although admittedly you give him asking you out very little thought. What is there to think about? Seonghwa believed that dating him was like winning the lottery. It was the most off putting manner someone had ever asked you out.

Even so, when you walk into San and Wooyoung’s apartment Saturday night, it is awkward to see him. Standing in the corner next to Hongjoong, in a pair of grey slacks and a light brown long sleeved shirt that is cut in such a way that it exposes some of his chest, with not a hair out of place on his head, Seonghwa looks impeccable as always. He is listening to Jongho although he seems to sense when you enter, his eyes flicking upwards to land on you. His gaze is unreadable simply because you don’t know him well enough to properly gauge what he is thinking. He only looks at you for a second before turning his attention back to Jongho.

At least twice a month, San and Wooyoung hold a party at their apartment. They moved in three months ago, and since their place has an impressive balcony, they love to entertain. By leaps and bounds their place is much nicer than your own, and it was always fun to come over and hang out.

You pop out onto the balcony to say hello to them before making your way through the small cluster of people to the kitchen. Your phone buzzes in your pocket, momentarily getting your attention.

“Your turn.” is all the message says.

The past hour, you have been texting your mystery person, discussing kinks. It is your turn to share one although you don’t get a chance to because it is at that moment that Yunho bustles into the kitchen, pulling you into a conversation.

It is about ten minutes into this discussion when Seonghwa enters the space. His eyes slide over you as if not even there, landing on Yunho.

“I have the money from earlier this week.” Seonghwa announces.

Yunho looks surprised. “Don’t worry about it. It was just a coffee order.”

“Even so.” Seonghwa says, shoving his hand in his pocket to drop his car keys on the counter, along with his phone. Then he pulls out a thin stack of money, handing Yunho ten dollars. You cannot imagine what sort of coffee Seonghwa ordered that cost a full ten dollars and you aren’t sure that you want to know. Even spending six bucks on an iced coffee is hard enough to justify to yourself, a bad habit that you struggle to break, your one vice.

You try not to look at him as he hands the money over but you do spare a quick glance. You went from barely noticing Seonghwa in the friend circle to now being acutely aware of where he is. You wish that he hadn’t asked you out…or at least hadn’t asked you out in such an insulting manner.

He snatches his car keys off the counter and leaves as Yunho turns his attention to you. “What was that about?”

               “What do you mean?”

“You two. Weird tension going on there.”

You sigh. “We had a disagreement of sorts. You know how Seonghwa can be. Sometimes his money makes it feel as if he is from another planet.”

“He can be oblivious, yeah, but he’s a good guy.”

               “What makes you say that?”

Yunho pulls a beer out of the fridge, giving a small shrug. “I don’t think Hongjoong would be best friends with someone who wasn’t, right?”

Mingi pops his head into the kitchen, looking very excited, “Yunho, we’re going to start the grill up.”

At the prospect of grilled meat, all thoughts of Seonghwa and weird tension are gone. “Oh, I gotta go. Good talking to you!” He says quickly, practically darting out of the room.

The kitchen is now empty and you feel strangely alone. I don’t think Hongjoong would be best friends with someone who wasn’t, right? The words bang around in your head for a few seconds as you grab a beer and lean against the kitchen counter, pulling your phone out of your pocket again, chewing on your bottom lip, thinking of something to say back to your pen pal.

Yet your mind goes back to Seonghwa, standing on the sidewalk in the blue neon light, your rejection loud in your head. No, you misunderstood. I don’t care about your money because I don’t care about you in that way, Seonghwa. Some part of you wonders if your words were overly harsh. But the other part of you thinks they were fine – he had been insulting, after all, regardless of if he meant it or not.

“Don’t you think that you learned enough about me tonight?” You tease back in the text, hitting send.

A phone goes off on the counter, causing you to flinch. Turning your attention downward, you realize that Seonghwa has forgotten his phone, most likely because he was scurrying to get away from you. Frowning, you lean forward to peer at the screen. The text message alert just says it is from someone called pen pal.

You stare at the phone, breath catching, for a few seconds before it goes dark. Has to be a coincidence. Weird timing. And pen pal is common. Doesn’t mean…You swallow hard, the words seeming hollow inside your head. You wonder if Seonghwa has a lock on his phone and then quickly chastise yourself. What makes you think that it is okay to go through his phone? Even so, you stand on the precipice of throwing your morals away. It isn’t like I am snooping. I’m just going to check one text message and make sure that it isn’t him. Your hand hovers over Seonghwa’s phone, which is the latest model that you aren’t even sure has officially come out yet, so close yet tantalizing out of reach –

Only for Seonghwa to sweep back into the kitchen. Startled, you smash your hand down on the counter with your open palm next to his phone. Seonghwa stops, looking at you curiously.

“Bug.” You explain, “Don’t worry though. I took care of it.”

“Right.” Seonghwa replies dryly, “I forgot my phone.”

He comes over, standing next to you as he picks it up. But instead of leaving, he leans forward slightly, just enough to pop your personal space bubble. Some of his hair falls in front of his face, grazing against his cheek. His eyelashes are dark smears against his skin. You can smell that expensive cologne again.

“You want a napkin for the bug?” He asks casually and you know he doesn’t believe your lie.

“Nope, I’m good.” Your voice is filled with an artificial tone.

He clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth before pulling away, leaving with the phone in his hand. You exhale slowly, following him, unlocking your phone and bringing up your text conversation. In the dining room, your friend motions for you to come over. You know she is going to want to discuss Mingi. You hold up your hand and gesture to your phone, pretending like you need to make an important call. She motions for you to meet her on the balcony and ducks out of the room once you nod.

Going to the corner, you stare at the phone screen. There is an unwritten rule between you and the sexting partner that calling is out of the question. Everything exists solely through texts. If you call, and have misunderstood the situation, there is the potential of ruining the fun. But you know that not calling will result in brooding and overthinking about if the universe would truly be as cruel as to make Seonghwa the person on the other side of the screen.

Seonghwa is in a small circle of Hongjoong, Yeosang and a couple of other people you only vaguely know. The space has a few people roaming about, mostly because San and Wooyoung have put snacks out on the table. The music has increased slightly in volume since arriving, indicating that the party is about to be in full swing.

Steeling yourself like a young kid going on their first rollercoaster, you press the button to call your pen pal and bring the phone to your ear. Your chest feels as if it is covered in a layer of thin ice – one misstep and it will shatter, plunging you in the depths.

Seonghwa’s phone goes off loudly. He looks down at it, his brows furrowing. You cannot see the screen but you can imagine he must be frowning because the unwritten rule is being broken. He brings the phone upwards –

“Hello?” Says a voice at the other end of the line as well as from across the room, the word toppling out of Seonghwa’s lips in slow motion, a visible heavy thing that lands with a solid thunkacross the ice, shattering it completely. Your stomach swoops violently and it is then that Seonghwa looks up.

You can see the realization dawn on him immediately, the way the pieces click together as he lowers the phone slowly, staring at you. Hongjoong nudges him, asking what happened. It is that movement that snaps you out of your own staring. Ending the call, you hastily put the beer on the table and cut through the kitchen, anxious to get out of the apartment. Logically, you know that it is rude not to tell your friends that you are leaving already. But the mortification of having been sexting Seonghwa for months combined with your rejection of him just a week prior is making the entire apartment feel too small and cramped for your liking.

The next couple of minutes are a blur, from the hallway to the elevator to finally spilling out into the night air. The sun has dipped below the horizon, a dark blanket across the city. You decide just to walk home. That will clear your head. On second thought, maybe you’ll stop at a bar and get a drink somewhere. That might help dull all the emotions that are vying for your attention –

               “Are you really running off?”

The voice shatters your thoughts. Looking over your shoulder, you see Seonghwa exiting the building. A thin brown jacket is casually tossed over his shoulders, his hair slightly messy for once as if he had run his fingers through it excessively on the way down.

“This is embarrassing enough, don’t you think?” You cross your arms as he approaches.

“Actually, I find it amazing we were able to text each other this long and not somehow find out sooner.”

“Well, it’s difficult to find out when we are both glued to our phones.” You grumble.

A silence passes. In the distance, there are sirens. A car drives by blaring music. Seonghwa shifts slightly, and you get the sense that behind the façade of calmness, he also finds the situation awkward. You aren’t sure what to say to the man who you have been sexting for months – it is like you know him in the most personal way possible yet not at all.

“I’m going home now,” You declare when he doesn’t say anything, “I would appreciate it if you don’t tell Hongjoong about this or anything we texted about. It’s personal. You understand.”

“Wait,” Seonghwa says, taking a step closer, “Come get a drink with me.”

With a sigh, you reply, “I don’t want to go out with you. We’ve established this.”

He gives an impatient shake of his head. “We hit it off texting. A simple number error and I texted you instead, we were flirting in seconds and sexting that night. And it’s been like that for months. Don’t you wonder how we can hit it off so well like that and barely speak to one another in real life?”

“We have absolutely nothing in common, that’s why. Half the time you’re not around because you’re jet setting off to some exotic location just for fun, the other half you’re unapproachable because what could I possibly talk to you about? How the shirt you bought cost more than my rent? How you get around via limo?”

There is a fevered glimmer in Seonghwa’s eyes when he replies, “But when all the differences were gone, we hit it off just fine. We had a natural chemistry.”

He isn’t wrong but you don’t want to admit it. “I just don’t understand how the Seonghwa in the texts and the Seonghwa who asked me out as if doing me a favor are the same person.”

“So, have a drink with me and find out.”

You hesitate. If it had been anyone else, going out for a drink would be a no brainer. The fact is you are still a little sore over how he asked you out as if you were a charity case. But it is impossible to deny that the sexting conversations with him had a natural chemistry, one that began immediately upon realizing he texted the wrong number.

You wonder why Seonghwa cares this much to follow up on such a thing before remembering what you thought when he asked you out – how his money can buy him attention but how many true friends can it give him outside of Hongjoong? Hadn’t you pitied him in that moment?

“He can be oblivious, yeah, but he’s a good guy.”

               “What makes you say that?”

“I don’t think Hongjoong would be best friends with someone who wasn’t, right?”

“Fine,” The words pop out of your mouth, “But just one drink.”

Relief crosses his features so quickly that you might have imagined it. He pulls out his phone, going, “I know a great place downtown –”

You hold up your hand. “Nope. No. I’m not going to some fancy place in the financial district where a cocktail costs thirty bucks or something ridiculous.”

Taken aback, he blinks. “Uhm. Where are we going to go then?”

It is your turn to pull out your phone, bringing up the map, scanning some places. “There’s a place the next block over. We’ll go there.”

Seonghwa still looks perplexed. You don’t know if it’s because he isn’t planning the event or because it will be outside of his cushy comfort zone. But he follows when you take off in the direction of the bar, not protesting. You pretend to be paying extra attention to your phone, as if the way to the bar is so complicated it simply has to be navigated with strict concentration, and not because you are acutely aware of how weird this entire situation is.

It doesn’t take long to reach the location. The bar is a hole in the wall sort of place, easily missable if it weren’t for the blasting of generic rock music every time the door swings open. You look over at Seonghwa, who looks as if he has just stepped in dog shit.

               “What is this?”

“It’s called a dive bar. I can Google it for you.”

He composes his feature into an elegant expression of haughtiness. “I know what a dive bar is.”

“Then why did you ask?” When he frowns at this, you go, “Come on.” and enter the building.

Since it is Saturday night, the place is filled. The music is loud, the place stinks of cigarettes and booze, with people playing pool in one corner, darts in another, and a crowd at the bar. Seonghwa, who has turned into the equivalent of the standing emoji, looks completely out of his element.

“You and Hongjoong never went to bars like this in college?” You say, your voice raised to be heard over the music.

“Uhm, no.” Seonghwa replies – you can’t actually hear him but can read the reply on his lips.

You laugh and take off towards the bar, Seonghwa trailing behind. Pushing through the crowd, you manage to find two people leaving near the corner, and with a little extra nudging, score the seats for Seonghwa and yourself. Seonghwa glances at the barstool briefly as if checking for spilled beer and then sits on it primly.

You had to give him a little credit, you think begrudgingly, he hasn’t complained once.

When the bartender comes by, you order. Seonghwa orders a beer you haven’t heard of – and neither has the bartender.

“What is that? I don’t have that.” He barks at Seonghwa impatiently, “Pick something on tap, kid.”

“Kid?” Seonghwa sputters before you cut in and order for him.

A few seconds later the beer is poured and slid over to the two of you, the bartender leaving immediately to deal with other patrons. You take a sip of yours as Seonghwa looks at his glass distrustfully.

               “What is it?” You ask.

“Nothing, I just…I don’t think this glass was as cleaned as it should be.” He replies, eyes darting over to the bartender and then to the chalkboard with the list of beers scribbled on it.

“What did you try to order, anyway? It was some fancy beer, wasn’t it?”

Seonghwa looks chagrined. “Wasn’t that fancy.”

“You gotta speak up in these places,” You scooch the barstool closer to him, your knees briefly touching, “I can’t hear you.”

“Why don’t they lower the music?” He grumbles.

“Come on. I said one drink. And I’ve already started taking sips. This is the closest you’re going to get to going on a date with me.”

Seonghwa shifts his body slightly to look at you, his hand curling around his beer glass. His fingers are long, slender, and one simple ring with diamonds around the band rests delicately on one digit.

“This feels more like an interview.”

“Oh, do you not like it? I assume it feels similar to someone asking you out because they want to impress you with money,” When Seonghwa looks sheepish, you continue, “Does that work? Impressing people with money? You make a lot of friends that way? Like true friends, the same level as Hongjoong.”

His eyes meet yours. For a moment, you think he is going to lie. “No. It doesn’t work. They leave once I stop buying everything. Or they meet someone with more money. Hongjoong is the only one who has stuck around.”

“You have everyone else in the friend circle. You don’t talk to any of them?”

“Come on,” He looks away from you, running one finger along the rim of his glass, “Everyone is nice enough but you know I’m not close to them. I’m only there because of Hongjoong.”

He isn’t wrong. You could refute the statement and feed him bullshit. But he hadn’t lied to you just now and you decide not to do the same.

“Why do you think that is?”

Seonghwa gives a small shrug. “It took a long time for Hongjoong and I to become best friends. In my experience, everyone wants something from me. I get it. I don’t blame them for it. So, I decided to preempt people pretending to be my friend by just offering the possibility of money and a fun time right off the bat.”

               “But those people aren’t friends.”

“No. But I felt a little less lonely with them around.” Seonghwa replies simply.

The words take you by surprise. It is the most forthcoming you have ever heard him talk. The worst part is how he stated it in such a blunt way; clearly, he isn’t looking for pity, it is just factual to him – people spend time around him if they can get something out of it and he allows it because he can pretend they care about him.

“Where did your family get all that money from anyway? Your dad the inventor of the toaster strudel or something?”

“Very funny,” Seonghwa replies dryly. “I think Wooyoung made the same joke once.”

“He would.” You take another sip of your beer before asking, “Does it bother you to hang out with us then? I mean if you don’t feel like part of the group.”

“No. Hongjoong is the only person who took time to get to know me in my entire life. If his other friends are important to him then I don’t mind spending time with them. It’s the least I can do. I have no interest in making things awkward. I’m not oblivious. I know that I am on the outskirts of the group. But I like everyone in it well enough. I just know my money is a barrier to growing closer to them.”

“But it wasn’t a barrier to Hongjoong. Maybe if you let your guard down a little, you’d find others in the group are the same. I really don’t think the others would care about getting things from you. I mean, if I wanted something from you, wouldn’t I have gone out with you? I won’t be the only person in the group that feels that way.”

Seonghwa looks a little surprised as if he has never considered that before. Casting a glance around the bar, he replies, “Yes but what if everyone wants to hang out in places like this? The pizza place is enough.”

It takes you a second to realize that isn’t him being snobby. He’s actually making a joke. He looks relieved when you laugh and you see his shoulders relax slightly.

“Who did you mean to text that night?” You ask suddenly, the question leaving your lips before you can wonder if it is okay to so clearly talk about the fact Seonghwa has been your secret sexting partner for months.

“Oh, hm,” He frowns, looking down at his drink, “I think I had a date that weekend. I was trying to organize it so I was flirting. But I never found out the right number. So, it fell through. It worked out though, don’t you think?”

“What do you mean? You didn’t get to go on the date.”

Seonghwa leans forward slightly, his shoulders a little hunched, hand curled around the glass. Up this close, his eyes are more like dark pools, and his cheeks are somewhat flushed with colour from the heat of all the people cloistered together in the bar.

“Because we started talking.” He says in a low voice that you can somehow hear over the music.

For some reason, your heart skips and it becomes difficult to maintain eye contact. “Is that what you call it?”

The corners of his mouth quirk up for a moment. “In a way.”

“Did it help?” You realize your voice has dropped to almost a whisper, which in turn causes Seonghwa to move even closer to hear you.

“I was a little less lonely.” He repeats but this time, there is an edge to his voice, a sort of huskiness that makes your heart race just a little bit more than before, his eyes dropping to look at your lips.

Momentarily arrested by his voice and expression, you think about how many times you had gotten off to things he texted you late at night. Of course you always wondered who was at the other end of sending such messages – what did they do all day to have them stay up late at night to text a stranger nothing but sexual things and leave their own personal selves locked away? Neither of you had attempted to learn anything else about the other; it made it more exciting and felt like there were no strings attached at the same time. All it would take would be to block the number and move on if one felt so inclined.

But now you are staring directly at that person in a dive bar early Saturday night. The late nights make sense – Seonghwa, closely guarding himself, having been burned one too many times, only letting Hongjoong gain access to who he truly is, finding comfort in talking to someone who knows nothing about him nor his wealth. He is right that people did treat him differently because he is rich, yourself included. You found him distant and attributed it to the barrier of income between him and the rest of the group. That remains partly true but there was something else at work at the same time: his fear and loneliness forming the rest of the blockage.

Your knees are still pressing together, something that you are now acutely aware of. In fact, you are overly aware of Seonghwa in general – how close he is to you, the curve of his hand around the beer glass, the way his shirt rests flat against his chest, dipping down slightly to show more of his skin than you are used to seeing, all the way down to his expensive leather shoes.

“You know, you never answered the question from earlier.” He asks, snapping you out of your thoughts.

“What question?” It takes it a second to click. “Oh. You mean in our texts. It was my turn to tell you something I liked.”

Seonghwa nods. Across the bar, a group of people laugh loudly, and he tilts his head to the side to glance over at them. You study his profile for a moment – the way the dim lights of the bar rest on his skin, the curve of his nose, his lips slightly parted as he studies them.

“Oh, will you look at that? My beer is done. We’re out of time.” You say, pushing the empty glass towards Seonghwa.

He clicks his tongue against the roof of his mouth, shaking his head. “I’m not finished mine. You drank yours so quickly. That anxious to go?”

“You’ve taken two sips since you got yours. Not up to your high quality standard, I assume?” You fire back, nudging his knee a little with yours at the joke.

“Does everyone going on a date with you only get one drink of your time or am I getting unfairly punished?” Seonghwa turns his face back to look at you.

“Depends if I’m going to sleep with them or not.” You retort.

This time, Seonghwa leans so close that for a second, you think he is going to kiss you. But instead, while looking directly in your eyes, he goes, “I could fuck you better than them, you know.”

The words knock you completely off kilter. Seonghwa sounds exactly as he does in all the text messages sent the past few months. But to hear it come from his mouth is entirely different. Your breath catches, that familiar heat starting to tug for your attention. No one has been able to drive you crazy with just words like Seonghwa has. You aren’t sure if you can withstand it in person without cracking.

“Do you want to go on a walk together?” You ask, “Seeing as you usually are in that limo of yours.”

He studies your face for a second, replying, “Sure. Let me just close out the tab.”

You hop off the barstool, purposely placing your hands on his knees to steady yourself (and to watch the expression on his face change just enough to let you know what he is thinking about). “I’m going to pick a really annoying song from the jukebox to play since we’re leaving.”

At this, Seonghwa laughs. With a jolt, you realize this is a true laugh compared to the other ones you have seen which is always more of a low chuckle with a smile that looks like he is in visible pain. It transforms his face, wiping away the reserved nature he usually holds.

“What’s the point of that?” He asks.

You shrug. “To be annoying, duh.”

As Seonghwa goes to pay for the drinks, you pull some money out of your bag, peering at the jukebox to find something irritating. The bar is more crowded now, especially at the pool tables, and the body heat is making you feel warm. You glance over your shoulder, watching Seonghwa toss some money on the bar counter, shouting a thank you to the bartender that more than likely got lost in the din of noise. He looks handsome, you think suddenly, admiring Seonghwa from afar.

Turning your attention back to the jukebox, you flick through some of the options. Seonghwa comes up behind you, and to your surprise, rests his chin on your shoulder, his arms snaking around your waist briefly to pull you back against him. The movement is intimate yet you feel completely at ease with it. In fact, you feel more than at ease – the electricity is a sharp current between the two of you, the desire that typically has been regulated to just texting spilling out into real life.

“Pick something yet?” Seonghwa asks, his lips close to your ear, snaking down your spine.

“Not yet. Any ideas?” You hope your voice sounds neutral; you don’t want him to know how turned on you are.

One hand trails down your back before briefly grabbing your ass and giving it a squeeze. It happens quickly but your heart rate increases rapidly and it is all you can do not to turn around and kiss him in the middle of the bar. Instead, you push your ass back against his hand.

“Pick that one. It’s annoying.” He murmurs, his breathing changing just enough to somehow turn you on more.

Seonghwa pressed up against your body like this is starting to make you feel like a lion pacing a cage. You pick the song; it begins to blast out of the jukebox as you pull away from Seonghwa, motioning for him to follow.

Wiggling through the crowd, you step out into the night air with Seonghwa right behind you. Even so, the noise from the bar is still too loud and you lead him down the sidewalk, away from the block filled with restaurants and bars that are crowded due to it being Saturday.

The temperature has dropped a bit, a nice break from how hot the bar was getting. Seonghwa runs his fingers through his hair, tilting his head back slightly which catches the light from the streetlamps. He looks different…or perhaps it is you who has changed your perception of him.

“I can feel you staring.” He says suddenly, turning to look at you.

As the two of you round the corner, Seonghwa’s arm slinks around your waist, pressing your back against a building. You gasp slightly in surprise, closer to him than you have been before. Your body responds to him in a way that you didn’t think was possible until tonight, the heat returning between your legs. You tilt your face back and that is when Seonghwa kisses you.

It is like every nerve in your body goes off like a firework. Sure, you have sexted Seonghwa many times about kissing, among other subjects, but not once had you ever looked at Seonghwa in real life and thought about it. Now, you wonder how it will be possible to not spend every moment thinking about it.

All the months of sexting spills out in the kiss which quickly grows from lustful to downright desperate. Pressing your body against his, your hands going around his neck to pull him closer, Seonghwa lets out a soft groan against your lips. His hands drop down to your ass and this time he grips it with both hands, squeezing it so hard that it drives you forward against him, letting you feel how stiff his cock is in his pants.

Seonghwa tugs on your bottom lip with his teeth while still groping your ass. It takes all you can do not to grind against his cock seeing as you are in the middle of the street. Your hands grip his hair, giving it a sharp tug when your lips meet again for another kiss. This time, his tongue pushes against yours and you make a low sound in the back of your throat.

“Get a room.” Someone snaps as they walk by, sounding disgusted.

The stranger’s words bring you back to reality. Seonghwa pulls away, glancing at the person as they round the corner. He is breathing quickly, cheeks tinged pink as he looks back at you.

“So,” He says, his voice a little shaky, “Do you want to come to my place?”

“Sounds good. But,” You add, “I’m not getting in a limo.”

*

One Uber and elevator ride later, you are stepping into Seonghwa’s penthouse apartment in a luxury high rise that you have driven by a thousand times and wondered the sort of people who must live there. Now, you know it includes Seonghwa.

The living room is massive, minimalist with nothing out of place, exceptionally clean, with windows that open out to a balcony that overlooks the city. Even though it is kept in immaculate condition, it still feels as if Seonghwa spends a lot of time here – a chair near the windows is worn, a book left open on it, a jacket tossed hurriedly on the back of the couch as if Seonghwa was running late somewhere and changed his mind about bringing it. On a shelf there are framed photos and polaroids of different locations, his family, and occasionally Hongjoong. A blanket is on the couch with pillows propped up in one corner as if Seonghwa watches television and falls asleep out here often. One lone plant is in the corner, its leaves dipping silently as if bowing for water.

“Can I get you anything? Water?” Seonghwa asks as you walk into the living room, immediately switching into playing the good host as if the two of you hadn’t just been making out in the street, turning on a lamp.

After refusing, you sit down on the couch – which you don’t even wanna think about how much it costs – and gingerly touch the fabric of the blanket. “You sleep out here a lot?”

“Sometimes,” He says, scurrying over, “Sorry about the mess.”

You want to laugh but he is being serious, sweeping the blanket and pillow off the couch and placing it neatly on the chair with the book. You watch as he does so, taking notice of things you hadn’t before in all the time spent around him: the curve of his neck, his hair curled slightly at the back, the way the fabric of his shirt rests against his back.

Seonghwa sits down next to you on the couch and you shift your body to face him. Wanting him feels almost painful in the intensity and it is all you can do just not to lean forward and kiss him.

“You know, the way that you asked me out pissed me off.” You say instead.

Seonghwa’s lips part slightly in surprise for a second. “I assumed.” He finally says. “Are you still upset at me?”

“You made it seem like it would be fun to go out with me because I would care about being taken to some fancy restaurant, not because you cared about me. I know you date a lot, Seonghwa, and I understand it more now than I did before. I know you are just searching for people who care about you as a person and not your money. So, you challenge them directly by throwing money their way and seeing who passes your test. Only Hongjoong has.”

Seonghwa exhales, cheeks puffing out as he runs his fingers through his hair, clearly a nervous habit of his. “I’m going to be honest. I invited you over because I thought you’d maybe want to make out or something, not correctly psychoanalyze me.”

“We can do both.” Your tone is teasing.

Seonghwa tilts his face in your direction, “You’re right. I was rude. When you asked why I wanted to go out with you, I felt thrown. No one had ever asked that before. And you’re right that I do toss money at people just to see who won’t care and would rather spend time with me,” He sighs, “I sound so cliché though. Poor rich kid can’t make friends cuz he has too much money. What a problem.”

“Well, I accept your apology but only because you have months of good sexting that works in your favour,” You lean forward, lightly dragging one finger over the top of his hand.

He turns his hand so that his palm is facing upwards, watching quietly for a moment as you trail your finger across it. “It works in your favour another way too,” His voice has dropped, immediately making you wet, “Because now I know everything you like.”

“Oh, is that so? Like what?”

“Well,” Seonghwa shifts again, this time so close that he could kiss you again easily, his hand gently closing around your fingers in a touch that sends electric sparks skirting across the surface of your skin, “I know that you like to be fingered, for one.”

He isn’t wrong, seeing as there had been many a night where his detailed sexts about getting you off like that led to plenty of nice orgasms. But hearing the words directly from the source makes the longing even more intense.

“Maybe you can finally demonstrate something you spent so much time writing about.” You murmur as Seonghwa’s other hand comes up to cup your cheek.

The sensation is slightly dizzying and you marvel at how Seonghwa has gone from a casual acquaintance to someone who can make you feel a passion this overwhelming.

He brings his lips to yours, tentatively at first, as if the time between the street to arriving here would have changed your mind about wanting him. But when you return the kiss, it bounces back to the passion that was there prior. His hands glide down your body to your sides, pulling you closer against his body. Your hands are flat against his chest, feeling the muscles underneath the thin fabric of his shirt. Bringing one hand downward to the tent in his slacks, you rub his cock through them and Seonghwa’s breath catches, a small groan muffled against your lips.

His hands fumble with the buttons on your jeans and you take over, quickly wiggling out of them and kicking them to the floor. His arms wrap around your waist as Seonghwa leans back down for another kiss, pushing you back against the couch. You pull him down with you, your hands slipping underneath his shirt along his back, feeling his toned skin. His tongue is in your mouth as you wrap your legs around his waist, arching your back a little to grind against his cock. Even with the barriers of fabric, it makes Seonghwa shiver.

You pull his shirt off, hands running down his shoulders and chest, kissing down along his jaw to his neck before biting down while still grinding against him. He sighs in delight before pulling away, looking down at you.

“You going to let me finally finger that sweet cunt of yours?” Seonghwa asks bluntly, sounding exactly like his text messages.

When you nod, there is a glint of pleasure in his eye. He practically tears off your underwear, tossing it to the side as you straighten up a little, your back pressing against the side of the couch. Seonghwa grips your legs, spreading your thighs apart and pushing your legs back to bring your knees to your chest. Normally you would feel shy to be on display like this in front of someone. Yet, surprisingly, you feel entirely comfortable with Seonghwa. In the end, he had been right – the natural chemistry the two of you displayed in the text messages easily shifted over to real life.

Seonghwa drags his finger along your slit which make your pulse quicken. Besides just the lamp on in the corner of the living room, the only other source of light is from the city spilling across the living room. It drapes half dressed Seonghwa like an enchanted cloak made of stars, making you wonder if you would have ended up in the situation with him sooner if the two of you had an actual conversation in all the time spent near one another.

But those thoughts quickly fade when he spreads your pussy lips apart gently, his fingers dipping into your hole just enough to make them wet. Bringing them to his lips, his tongue darts across to taste you.

Seonghwa glances up at you, his lips open a little as if he is going to speak. You look back at him and when you do so, he slips a finger inside your cunt swiftly, taking you by surprise. He smirks at your reaction, wiggling his finger inside you.

“You’re dripping wet,” He comments, “I have a feeling that you’ve been wet for me all night.”

As he begins to slowly pump his finger in your cunt, you reply, “How do you know I’m wet for you? What if I was daydreaming about someone else all night?”

“Please. You’re forgetting that I’ve been making you this wet for months and that I know you’d touch yourself to what I would write late at night.” Seonghwa has that look back in his eye, all conversations of feeling lonely and struggling with making friends washed away in the fact he has his finger buried in your cunt on his couch.

There really is no retort to be had when he is correct like this. He pulls his finger out and brings his hand down across your pussy, lightly slapping it. You jump in surprise and at the same moment he pushes two fingers back into your hole, starting to fuck you with them.

“Be a good whore and hold your legs back,” His voice has dropped an octave, his eyes focused on your pussy as he issues the command.

You do so, and Seonghwa begins to increase the speed at which he fucks you with his long fingers. Half dressed, splayed out in front of him, taking his fingers, you couldn’t think of a stranger turn of events the night could have taken than this. You can hear how wet your pussy is as his fingers press into your hole and you can tell how turned on Seonghwa is by doing this. He bites down on his bottom lip hard as he focuses, driving his fingers deep in your cunt.

“Look at how well your pussy takes my fingers,” He remarks, “Almost as well as you’re going to take my cock.”

Some of his hair falls in front of his face and he shakes his head to move it, clearly irritated that it would dare block the image of you taking his fingers like this. He fucks you hard and fast, the muscles in his arm evident as he wiggles them deep in your cunt.

“Now, you said in your texts that if someone fingered you right, you could squirt,” Seonghwa goes, bringing the conversation back to the front of your mind, your cheeks flushing with colour, “So, are you going to show me like the slut you are or what?”

Your focus is shattered from how well Seonghwa works his fingers, and the sight of him doing this to you at such a speed that the veins pop out against his skin makes your orgasm draw ever closer.

“Wouldn’t want to ruin your nice couch,” You manage to say, your voice unsteady, hands gripping your own legs, nails biting into your skin.

Seonghwa glances up at you, “I can buy another.” He says almost casually and then rams his fingers deep into your cunt.

A strangled gasp leaves your mouth, your legs shaking from being in this position, Seonghwa only picks up the speed, chasing your orgasm down like a dog with a bone. His other hand grips your thigh, spreading your legs as wide as they can go as his fingers plunge in and out of your wet hole.

“I remember what else you like too,” Seonghwa says hoarsely, “And it was any time I called you a fucking whore.”

His words make your eyes close tightly for a moment as the pleasure grows ever larger, blotting out everything else but your desire to finish against his fingers.

“So, it’s time for you to cum like the fucking whore you are and make a mess on my couch.” His fingers curve upward on the next thrust, “Now.”

As if your body is responding to him directly, your orgasm begins. With a loud moan, your head rolls back, eyes closing tightly as the shivers run down your back and legs as you climax. Seonghwa doesn’t stop fucking you with his fingers, the noises obscene as he does so. Your hips raise slightly and as you orgasm, your pussy squirts against his fingers, spilling out across the palm of his hand and onto the couch. It is by far the most intense squirting you have done, and you distantly are aware that Seonghwa’s name is leaving your mouth repeatedly.

Panting, your eyes open as your orgasm subsides, looking at Seonghwa who is removing his pants and boxers before settling back on the couch. His cock is rock hard in between his legs, dripping precum, his hand wrapping around and stroking it as he leans forward.

“I’m going to fuck you now, whore, and I’m going to cum in your tight little cunt because I know you get off to that too.” Seonghwa says as his hands move to your legs, keeping your body in the folded position from when he fingered you.

Even though your cunt is in no need of lubrication at this point, Seonghwa looks down and spits on it just to be obscene. Gripping his cock, he slides it in between your folds before leaning forward, bringing his body against yours, pinning your legs against his chest. As he does so, his cock slides into your cunt easily and he brings his hands down to grip the arm rest of the couch on either side of your head.

The angle is unreal, your hands now free to press against his sides, feeling his lithe and toned frame under your fingertips. Seonghwa’s breathing changes as he begins to pump his cock inside your pussy which clenches down immediately.

“See, I knew you would take my cock easily. Just like I knew you would squirt.” His voice is shaky, cheeks bright with colour, “That’s because I know you’re a good slut from all these months of getting you off.”

His pace quickens, clearly pent up from the entire night and getting you off. Smushed against the couch and his body, taking Seonghwa’s cock as deep as it can go, hard and fast, thinking about him emptying his balls in your hole, you realize that he is going to make you cum again.

As if sensing where your thoughts went, Seonghwa goes, “You going to cum again like the fucking slut you are? I thought you said it’s tricky to get you off and yet here I am about to make you cum again.” Yet another detail he has filed away from your sexts; you had mentioned one time that partners struggled to make you finish, issuing a challenge to Seonghwa that “if we ever met up”, he would have to see if he could do better. Well, that had been answered.

Seonghwa, who is relentlessly fucking you into the couch, his breathing laboured, his hair sticking to his forehead from exertion, moves one hand to tilt your face up slightly to look at him.

          “Open your mouth.”

A thrill goes through you – yet another secret you told Seognhwa late one night. It was easy telling a stranger all the random things you got off to because what were the odds that it would ever matter? Aren’t you glad that you did now.

You obey and Seonghwa spits in your mouth which makes you moan. Then he crushes his lips against yours, still pumping his hips. You whimper, his tongue against yours, your second orgasm approaching rapidly from the angle and force of his thrusts. The kiss is messy, teeth and tongue, your fingers digging into his back as he ploughs into you. When the kiss breaks, his lips graze yours with each word spoken.

“You always fuck people after one drink or am I just special?”

“Special,” You groan, his skin hard under your fingers.

“You’re special too, my whore. So, why don’t you cum around my cock so I can finish in your cunt?”

He slams his hips down, his cock all the way inside you, and the motion sends you over the edge. Groaning out Seonghwa’s name, your second orgasm begins. Your pussy tightens around his cock and he goes still, eyes closing tightly as he begins to climax along with you. His cum is warm in your pussy, filling it up as you orgasm loudly, clinging to him as much as you can given the position. Seonghwa’s voice is shattered, your name sounding different than it ever as before from his mouth, the two of you inseparable in this moment.

Both are panting, coming down from intense climaxes as Seonghwa gently untangles himself from you. Your legs protest as you stretch them out across the couch, not used to being bent back like that for so long. You can feel his cum in your cunt, your body sticky with sweat, propping yourself up a little. Your t-shirt was on the entire time and now clings to your skin.

“I need a shower,” You tell him, “I assume you have an amazing shower that I will be taking advantage of. And clothes too.”

Seonghwa tries to push his hair out of his face, a smile tugging on his lips. “Yes, I can show you where the bathroom is.”

You hold out your hand, “Fine but you’re not showering with me. No, don’t pout. I actually want to shower not fuck in it.”

Seonghwa tugs on his boxers as he stands up, holding his hand out to you. “Alrig

Hoseok bounced his leg up and down in anticipation as he sat in the library, currently alone. He had heard back from you quick, saying that you’d be there as soon as you went back to your dorm and changed. He smiled at the fact that you said your appearance was “unacceptable” and you looked “homeless.” Hoseok thought your nervousness was cute, thus explaining his own nervousness.

Soon after you sent your last text, you entered the library and dropped your bag next to the seat that you plopped down in. “Sorry it took so long, I wanted to change after I got off work.” You puffed out your cheeks and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.

“Where do you work?” Hoseok shifted his seat so it was facing you and you blushed, beginning to feel nervous again.

“I work at that little 24 hour diner off campus?” You stuttered, sounding more like a question than a statement. “It doesn’t pay much, but it gets me by…” You trailed off, not wanting to go into much more depth.

Just as Hoseok was about to respond, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He quietly apologized as he looked at the screen without answering. “So, my friend Namjoon is throwing a party tomorrow night. You should come… with me.”

You’d been to college parties before, but only staying a couple minutes, realizing they usually weren’t worth staying at. You were hesitant to answer. “I mean… If you want me to come… then sure?” Realizing that you sounded uninterested, you added to your answer. “I’d love to go with you.”

You watched Hoseok’s face light up as he looked at you, then back down at his notebook. He started talking about God knows what, because all you could focus on was his features. His big, brown eyes, his bright smile, the way his lips turned up when he spoke. Those things alone were enough to make you zone out.

“Hellooo? Earth to Y/N?” You snapped back to reality and saw Hoseok staring at you, but not in a weird, creepy way or an annoyed way. It was almost as if he was fond of you? “I was asking if you knew the basics,” he chuckled. “You know, like supply and demand, opportunity cost, things like that?” He kept looking at you and you shook your head.

“By basics do you means high school level? It’s been a minute…” You laugh trailing off. He lightly laughed with you and moved his chair closer to you. Your breath hitched as he reached over your lap to reach your bag sitting adjacent to you. His eyes met with yours and you were praying he couldn’t hear your heart practically beating out of your chest. You coughed awkwardly and grabbed your bag from his hands, pulling out your textbook. “So, opportunity cost?” You tilted your head towards him as he opened his notes.

Hoseok’s smile never left his face the whole study session and neither did yours. For some reason, you were beginning to like economics a little more.

“You can put the cups on that table over there,” Namjoon pointed to a long plastic table in the corner of the room, as he hung up string lights in the kitchen. “I hope we have enough drinks for everyone.”

“You don’t have that many friends, Joon, don’t get ahead of yourself.” Taehyung scoffed as he moved the furniture out of the way, giving people plenty of space to do whatever it is they were going to do.

Namjoon ignored Taehyung’s comment, and faced Hoseok. “Who’s all coming tonight?”

“I invited a girl from my economics class.” When Hoseok answered, he didn’t even think about what he was saying. To be honest, he didn’t care what any of the boys had to say about it. “She’s cool, so be nice.”

“I invited that one girl with the blonde hair. You know, the girl who always wears Pumas.” Jimin said as he adjusted the hat on his head.

Namjoon looked at Jimin as if he’d seen a ghost, and technically he had. Or heard the ghost, so to say. The ghost of what could have been. “Misun? You invited Misun? What were you thinking?”

Jimin shrunk back. “Yeah, why? What’s wrong with her? I always thought she was cute.”

Namjoon definitely thought the same. “It’s just that we aren’t exactly on the best terms.”

Before anyone could say or do anything, Jungkook entered the room. “Oh no, I can’t see him but I know that Hoseok’s getting the notebook out now. ‘Rule #5, don’t be Namjoon and you can succeed with girls.’”

Hoseok was quiet, but he nodded when all the boys’ eyes landed on him. “You wanna talk about it, Joonie?” He mocked, clicking the pen and starting the entry.

“Misun, can we please just talk about this?!” Namjoon was almost in hysterics. He knew falling for her wasn’t part of the plan, but it just happened.

“What’s there to talk about? We are nothing more than fuck buddies, you said it yourself in the beginning! God, was this part of your plan? What were you thinking!!” Misun was grabbing her clothes off Namjoon’s floor, struggling to put them on in a hurry.

“Babe, please, what are you saying? I love you, don’t be like this!” Namjoon was grabbing her shirt, her shoes, anything to stall her.

“You love me? What are YOU saying? The first thing you told me coming into this was no strings attached! You said WE wouldn’t catch feelings for each other! Was this all a trick? You thought sleeping with me all the time would make me fall for you? You’re disgusting.” Misun was walking towards the door, even though she was barely clothed. Namjoon grabbed her wrist, trying to stop her.

“It wasn’t my intention to fall for you, Misun! But the more time we spent together, the more I got to know you, and the more I fell for you. You can’t tell me you don’t feel anything for me.” Misun fell quiet.

“Please let me leave, Namjoon.” Her eyes wouldn’t meet his and her voice fell. In that moment you could hear a pin drop.

Namjoon let go of her wrist and handed her the shirt he had been holding hostage. He watched her walk out of his door and essentially his life. He slid down the door as he wept into his hands. He thought she had feelings for him too, and that’s what hurt the most.

After Namjoon finished telling his story, no one had anything to say. All the boys avoided Namjoon’s eyes and there were no witty things to be said by anyone. Hoseok cleared his throat as if to alleviate some of the awkwardness in the room. “What a great way to start the party guys.” Yoongi said as a way to change the subject.

“Uhh… I guess… Rule #5 is don’t have fuck buddies?” Jimin shrugged.

Namjoon rolled his eyes. “I’m not still hung up about it or anything, don’t make this more weird than it already is. And don’t feel special either, I had no intention on telling any of you guys this story.”

Though Hoseok hadn’t said a word yet, he had all the information he needed.

5. Know what you want going into any kind of relationship, and don’t expect more or less.

“Guys, I hate to break this writing session up, but I think I just heard the first car pull up outside.” Jin said, pointing to the front door. The boys quickly set up the last of the refreshments and Hoseok placed the notebook back in his bag.

About an hour before the party started, Hoseok texted you to meet him at the party instead. You were skeptical at first and almost changed your mind. But, then you remembered that this was Hoseok you were talking about. You weren’t ever this quick to call things a crush, but you were almost sure that this is what it was.

When you arrived, there was people inside and outside. You quickly made your way inside and spotted Hoseok almost immediately. When he saw you, he instantaneously started walking towards you. “Hey, Y/N, I’m glad you could make it!”

He moved in for a hug and it took you by surprise. You gasped as his warm embrace surrounded you, but you quickly hugged back. “Thank you for inviting me, it was really sweet of you.” You smiled at him and he scoffed.

“Please, it’s nothing. C’mon, I want you to meet my friends.” He grabbed your hand and pulled you towards the kitchen. Your heart started beating fast, and you mentally cursed at yourself. Nothing is going on, calm down, he’s your friend and he is just introducing you to more friends.

“Everyone, this is Y/N, the girl from my economics class I was telling you about, Y/N, this is everyone.” Six boys all said a cheerful hello to you but all you could focus on was the fact that Hoseok said he talked about you. You managed to voice an almost equally enthusiastic, but nervous, hello to them back as you went around and learned each of the boys’ names.

Throughout the whole night, you and the seven boys stayed close to each other for the most part and you all got to know one another. Hoseok didn’t leave your side no matter what and always dragged you away when an energetic boy by the name of Taehyung tried to tell a story about “Hoseok’s most embarrassing night” and how he apparently “will never live down the nickname ‘boob inspector’” which made you laugh, but Hoseok got into a defensive state.

“I didn’t mean to go into the girls’ locker room! I was a freshman how was I supposed to know?!”

You and the boys laughed as he sat there, red-faced as ever. “It’s simple, dude. Read the sign.” Yoongi was in a fit of laughter as Hoseok pushed him off a bar stool.

He looked to you, and although he was embarrassed, he smiled ear to ear because you were smiling and getting along nicely with his friends. He didn’t want this night to end with you, and luckily when he walked you back to your dorm and kissed you goodnight, you kissed him back.

“You got it bad, Jimin.” Namjoon said, chuckling to make things a little less awkward. He never knew that Jimin was such a softie for Sujin.

“Tell me ‘bout it.” Jimin sighed once, putting his face in his hands. “Can we go do something? Let’s go out and have fun!” He stood up, and walked to the mirror, checking himself out. Just a little bit. He had to be ready in case he saw Sujin and her new man.

“Go where?” Jin asked, checking the time on his phone. It was still relatively early, so it’s not like they could go party or anything.

“Let’s go to a club or something!” Jimin answered, turning to face Jin.

And that’s when Jungkook interjected. “Have you forgotten that I’m not of age?” He frowned. “I’m still 19.”

“Yep, we know, you’re a baby. We get it.” Yoongi crossed his arms over his chest. “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really feeling Mexican food.”

“I second that.” Hoseok stood up, shoving the notebook in his backpack. Everyone gathered their belongings as they headed out to a small Mexican restaurant just off campus. The group of boys decided to walk, and they joked the whole way. Hoseok was grateful that despite the heavy topic recently, they were still able to have fun and set a light mood.

Though the entire group had only become friends recently, it felt like they’d been friends for years. Jimin, Namjoon, Taehyung and Jungkook had all known each other since high school, some being closer to each other than others. Hoseok met Yoongi and Jin during his freshman year of college. Over the most recent summer, the groups had gotten together during a lame party and ever since then, they’d been close.

As they entered the restaurant, the bell above the door ringing, they were greeted with glorious smells of spices. When they sat down, a voice crept up on them. “Can I get you guys anything to….” The waitress’ voice trailed off as her eyes fell on Yoongi who was desperately trying to hide his face in his menu.

“Oh, hello Yoongi. So, this is what you meant by you were ‘too busy with work’?” The boys kept looking between Yoongi and the waitress, waiting for him to say something.

Leave it alone.” Yoongi murmured, attempting to drop the situation right there. He didn’t want the guys to ask him any questions because it was a thing of the past. “I’ll take a water.” The rest of the bunch could sense the tension, so they ordered their drinks following Yoongi. When the waitress left, they stared at Yoongi waiting for him to explain what had just happened.

Yoongi hadn’t looked up from the menu yet, but he could tell that all the eyes at the table were on him. “Don’t think about it too much.” Was all he said, malice rolling off his tongue like second nature.

“What was that all about?” Jungkook ignored Yoongi. “I think this calls for storytime, anyone else agree?”

Two dates in and Yoongi was already falling for this girl. He thought she was absolutely beautiful and intelligent, and they had a lot in common. He didn’t know why he was feeling stressed and panicked, but when he broke things off with her, it didn’t go so well.

It was a week after their second date. He’d become more distant, despite feeling more for her than ever. It wasn’t intentional, or maybe it was, but Yoongi had just become so worried about school and focusing on side tasks that he’d completely forgotten about her. She had texted him throughout the entire week and he’d ignored almost every text and call from her.

[11:03PM] ♥: Yoongi, you haven’t texted me back for a week. Is everything okay, did I do something wrong?

[11:45PM] Yoongi: I’m busy right now. I’ll text you later.

He’d waited and waited and came to realize that he’d put it off for too long. He had to tell her that things weren’t going anywhere. Though he felt bad, he knew that it would reduce the weight hanging on his shoulders.

[12:55AM] Yoongi: Are you still awake?

[12:56AM] ♥: Yes I’m awake

[1:24AM] Yoongi: I need to be honest with you about some things.

[1:24AM] ♥: Are you okay? You can tell me anything, Yoongi.

[2:15AM] Yoongi: I don’t have enough time for a girlfriend right now. I’ve got too much going on right now, work and school stuff. I think we should stop seeing each other.

[2:18AM] ♥: But why? Did I do something to upset you? I’ll do anything to make it right, Yoongi

[2:49AM] Yoongi: It’s nothing you did. It’s not you, it’s me. Sorry

[2:50AM] ♥: I can wait until things are less stressful

[2:53AM] ♥: You told me that you liked me, so how can you change your mind so quickly?

[2:59AM] ♥: I was starting to fall for you. I thought you were different.

[3:00AM] Yoongi: I’m trying to sleep. Night

“So you freaked out? You could’ve talked to us.” Jin frowned at Yoongi, him still looking at the table. By the time Yoongi had finished his story, their food and drinks were brought to the table, by a different waitress.

“I’m not a baby, I didn’t need advice from my friends.” Yoongi sighed. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know what to do.”

The boys offered him a small smile as Hoseok leaned forward to give him advice.

4. Set time aside for not only yourself, but those in your life. Don’t push people away when things get tough.

Yoongi gave Hoseok a small smile. “I guess you’re right. I set aside time for you guys, so why can’t I do that for her?” As they left the restaurant, Yoongi left her a note on the back of the receipt.

I’m sorry. Try again? - Y

“You guys up for a movie?” Jungkook called out once they got back to the dorm.

Hoseok shook his head, “I’ve got a ton of homework due tomorrow, maybe next time.” He told his friends goodbye and exited the dorm, making his way to the library.

[7:13PM] Hoseok: Are you interested in catching up on economics tonight? I’ll be in the east wing library if you’re up for it :)

(ONE) (TWO) (THREE) (FOUR)

loosely based on this song

Ever since the start of your junior year, things had been mostly boring and truthfully, lonely. You haven’t been yourself recently, considering what had happened months before. You sighed as you continued your journey to your dorm room after a brief study session by yourself. You concluded that lonely was better than nothing.

You were the first to admit that you weren’t exactly watching where you were going, and that’s what caused you to collide with someone who was walking the opposite way of you. “Sorry, my fault,” You muttered, more embarrassed than anything. You handed the man the notebook that was discarded in the chaos.

You offered a small smile and mentally took note of his features. Whoever he was, you silently hoped you got to see him again. With your past luck with guys, however, you figured that it probably wouldn’t happen and you were way too chicken to ask for even his name. He smiled back at you and you hurriedly walked past him, still embarrassed about the whole ordeal. Your mind couldn’t help but wander to this boy, completely forgetting about your previous thoughts beforehand. Even when you got to your dorm and sat down at your desk, your mind was still focused on the stranger’s features.

You blushed lightly, remembering the way his eyes crinkled ever-so-slightly when he smiled. Here you were, downright giddy at the thought of him, while he probably didn’t even spare you a second glance. Such is life, though, she said to herself.

You woke up the next morning, almost dreading going to your classes. Your counselor advised you to take an economics class to help your marketing major. Side note: your parents chose your major for you and you had no say. What could you do, though? Your dad was a very well-respected board member at the college you were attending and was paying for your tuition. You couldn’t ‘let him down’ with your dreams of being a film-maker with a background in astronomy.

So here you were, standing outside of the math building, trudging along inside as you navigated through the various hallways. You were already ten minutes late, but you weren’t too worried. In fact, you couldn’t give any less of a shit if you didn’t show up at all. Do this for dad, not yourself. Sighing for the hundredth time this morning, you yanked open the door to your economics class, trying not to feel small as everyone’s eyes suddenly averted to you. You scanned over the students in the room, seeing if anyone looked familiar. You couldn’t recognize a single face, that is until you looked in the corner of the room and saw a familiar boy with orange hair that swept across his forehead.

Maybe your luck was finally catching up to you, you thought to yourself. You subconsciously smiled as you entered the classroom completely, dropping the transfer paper on the professor’s desk. “You’re lucky, we’ve got one seat left.” He gestured to the right side of the classroom. Luck strikes again: your seat was right in front of the incredibly cute boy you had bumped into the previous night.

Weaving your way through the rows of students, you subconsciously made an effort to make yourself not look like a complete idiot as you had a reputation of being clumsy. Despite your best efforts, you managed to continuously kick other students’ belongings as you whispered a frantic ‘sorry’ to each one, knowing you were already off to a bad start. Sitting down, you thanked God himself that you weren’t placed right next to the boy, knowing he would be able to see your crimson cheeks.

Hoseok did a double take when you walked into the room. For a moment, he couldn’t recall where he’d seen you before, because it was so brief. But then he remembered - you were the girl he’d bumped into last night and thought about for a good thirty minutes after. Was this some kind of luck catching up to him now? He didn’t question it too much, only thought that he was grateful for a second run-in with you.

He found it really cute when you kept tripping over backpacks and such, and couldn’t help but chuckle. He saw your cheeks turn bright red as you sat down, trying to hide yourself. For the remainder of class, Hoseok couldn’t focus, all he could do was stare at the back of your head and watch all your mannerisms. The way you tapped your pencil while waiting for more notes to be put on the screen. The way you moved your hair out of your face every so often. Even the way you avoided eye contact with the professor when he asked the class a question. He was so intrigued by you and he didn’t know why.

At the end of the class, you were in such a hurry to go back to your dorm, that you managed to leave your journal at your seat. You didn’t notice, of course, but when someone tapped on your shoulder, you flinched as you turned around.

“You forgot this.” Hoseok offered a half smile as he noticed the irony of the situation - last night you were giving him back his notebook, and now he was doing the same for you.

You stuttered like a fool as you awkwardly smiled at him. “T-Thanks.” You managed to calm your nerves a little bit as he smiled more at you. It was almost calming, the way he looked at you. “You’re in economics,” You started, taking a pause. Hurry up and talk, idiot, obviously he knows he’s in economics! “What, um, is your major?”

“Marketing,” Hoseok shrugged. “Super interesting, I know.” He sighed once, watching you listen to him. “You?”

“Me too. It’s not exactly what I wanted to do, but… Things happened.” You answered bluntly, not wanting to go into too much depth to a stranger who wouldn’t really care too much.

Hoseok nodded, unsure of what to say next. An introduction might be in order if he planned on getting to know you better, which he did. “I’m Hoseok,” He started, putting his hand out for an overdue handshake.

You met your hand with his. “Y/N,”

“Well, welcome to economics.” He nodded once more before saying goodbye to you, continuously reminding himself not to go too fast and ask you out before he knew anything about you, even though he wanted to. He really, really wanted to.

As he turned his foot to walk off, you quickly caught up to him and reached for his arm. “Wait!” He turned around and you held your phone out to him with the new contact application out. “Do you think you could help me catch up in the course a little bit? It’s just that I just joined and I’m already really behind, and I don’t really know anyone else. Plus, no one else in that class seems nearly as friendly as you.”

The universe really was doing him a solid in this situation, he thought to himself. Hoseok nodded and smiled simultaneously as he took the phone from your hand. “Yeah, of course.” He handed it back to you after that. “See you around, Y/N!”

Later that night, all the guys agreed to get together to write their next edition of Hoseok’s best-seller. When they all met up in Jimin and Jungkook’s room, Hoseok took note that Jimin seemed particular pissy this evening. “Everything alright?” Hoseok called out, turning his head to him.

“Everything’s peachy, what’s it to you?” Jimin answered, barely flicking his eyes up to face Hoseok. Hoseok took out the journal again, as if to take notes on the situation. “It’s nothing you can analyze, dude.”

“I bet it is. Tell us about it.”

“I saw my ex with her new boyfriend. Or maybe it wasn’t her boyfriend. It was a new guy and I can’t stop thinking about it. No big deal.” Hoseok rolled his eyes at Jimin and waited for him to start his story, knowing there was more to it. Sighing, Jimin sat back in his chair.

“Why are you lying to me, again!?” Jimin was furious. He knew for a fact that his girlfriend of four months had been cheating on him, there was no way that he was wrong about it. “Just tell me the truth, Sujin!”

All Sujin did was deny, deny, deny, but there had to be more to it. “How many times to I have to tell you that there is nothing going on between me and him!” She started, running her hands through her hair as she was very much annoyed now. “Or anyone else for that matter, except for you!”

“Are you even with me, though? That’s a good question, Sujin!” Jimin was almost hysterical at this point. Though he’d let his jealousy get to him in the past, he knew he was right about this. He knew that his girlfriend was cheating on him with a frat boy she’d been talking to. “If you tell me the truth, I won’t get mad. Please, just tell me what’s going on.” That was a half lie, he was definitely going to get mad. He was already mad.

“Oh my fucking god, Jimin.” She answered, banging her hand on the table once. “I already did tell you the truth! I love you Jimin. Why can’t you believe me?”

And then Jimin was silent. He sat with a straight face, offering a shrug once, as if remembering what happened wasn’t hurting him. “So… What happened next?” Hoseok asked, with an eyebrow raised and his pen to the paper.

Nothing. She left.” Jimin looked at the ground. Yes, he missed her of course, but that wasn’t what hurt the most. “I was wrong, too.”

“About what?” Namjoon interjected, actually interested in the story. He didn’t even know that Jimin had ever had a girlfriend before; he’d never talked about her.

“She didn’t ever cheat on me.”

3. DON’T be insecure. Trust is the most important part of being in a relationship. Don’t accuse her.

“I need to stop going after senior girls,” Jungkook sighed as he slammed his satchel on the ground next to his bed. The other six boys looked at him with concern in their eyes. Surprisingly, despite the group having been friends since the school year started, they’ve never brought up the topic of girls. “I don’t have enough balls for that.”

Hoseok was the first to turn his full attention to the youngest boy. “What happened?” He watched as Jungkook sunk down into the bed, face first. Jungkook was normally a cheerful personality and it was quite alarming to witness him sulking for the first time.

“Igotallshyandnervous” Mumbling into the pillow, Jungkook hit the side of the bed with his fist.

“Jungkook, move the fucking pillow out of your mouth and say it again.” Jimin said, as he was the most comfortable with Jungkook, seeing as though they’d been friends since high school.

Sighing, Jungkook sat up and looked around, eyes dull and lifeless. “I was going to ask that cute girl who works at the campus coffee shop if she wanted to go grab a bite, but I just started stuttering.”

“What, you haven’t ever asked a girl out before?” Yoongi asked, sarcasm laced his words. He sat on the bed next to Jungkook’s feet.

“You’re one to talk!” Namjoon scoffed. “You’ve asked how many girls out? Oh, just one? Okay.” He sighed.

Taehyung interjected, laughing lightly. “At least they both could be a gentleman to a girl!” He rolled his eyes at the silver haired heartbreaker. “In that case, you have no room to talk.”

“Let’s all calm down and try to help Jungkook with his problem.” Jin put his hands out as if that was helping the situation at all. He managed to keep everyone quiet long enough for Jungkook to sit up completely and begin explaining his predicament.

Jungkook noticed her from across the cafeteria. Before he saw her, he had no interest in getting a coffee. However, after he noticed the pretty brown-haired girl standing behind the register, he had a sudden craving for a latte. Slowly striding over towards the stand, his hands began to shake and sweat.

“Hi, can I get you anything today?” She spoke and Jungkook swears it was the prettiest voice he’d ever heard. She was older than him, that was apparent by the way she looked and her demeanor.

He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. He tried again, but was met once more with silence. All that really came out was his unsteady breathing as the cashier stared, waiting for him to recite his order to her. “Do… Do you happen to sell coffee here?”

For a moment, she couldn’t tell if he was joking or not. She looked at him with an unsure smile, but when he didn’t falter, she frowned. “That’s all we serve here, bud.”

Ah, the iconic ‘bud’ that he’s heard so much about. He didn’t look that young, did he? “Ah, my apologies then.” And it seemed that his legs knew he was giving up before his brain did. Walking away, he kept his head low and mentally cursed at himself for being so awkward yet again. This wasn’t the first time Jungkook has made a fool of himself, believe it or not. Multiple times he had seen a pretty girl going about her day, and then he opened his mouth and made it weird.

“And that’s the story of why I’m going to drop out of college so I never have to see her again.” Jungkook crossed his hands in his lap and avoided eye contact with the rest of the boys. At this point, he figured everyone here has had their fair share of both positive and negative girl experiences. Surely someone could give him some sagely advice.

“I’ll be honest, I don’t know what to tell you, bud.” Namjoon smirked as he laughed loudly at his own jab at the youngest boy.

Jungkook plopped himself back into the bed and groaned. “Guess I’ll die.” He groaned into the pillow once more.

Hoseok stood to place a hand on Jungkook’s shoulder. “Just be confident, Jungkook. Confident, but not cocky. Don’t be so shy when you talk to girls. Rejection isn’t the worst thing that could happen to you, so don’t be scared.”

“If you’re so good at getting girls, Hobi, why don’t you just write a book about it?” Of course Jimin was being sarcastic, but it didn’t sound all that bad in that moment. Jimin scoffed as he leaned back in his seat, paying no mind to the light bulb that had just appeared over Hoseok’s head.

Yoongi added to Jimin’s joke, “How To Be Perfect Men by Jung Hoseok. Sounds like a best-seller to me.”  The group laughed lightly and soon died down as they all looked around at each other.

“How many of us have actually had a serious relationship?” Hoseok looked around the group as everyone exchanged short glances before they hung their heads low. Hoseok got up and retrieved a notebook out of Jungkook’s discarded satchel. Grabbing a pen as well, he scribbled out “Math 110” and instead replaced it with the title Yoongi suggested.

“Let’s get to work.” Hoseok smiled at everyone knowingly. “What are some things that we can do so we can ‘get the girl’ so to speak?”

Jin raised his hand, even though he knew he didn’t need to, and started. “Pay for the first date. There’s nothing worse than expecting her to pay! What kind of a guy does that?”

“Be a gentleman?” Jungkook said inquisitively.

“Well, obviously, genius,” Jimin scoffed. “That is the name of this whole guide thing, or whatever this is.” Jimin waved his hand in Jungkook’s direction.

Taehyung interjected next, ignoring the argument between Jimin and Jungkook. “Hold the door open for her, compliment her, buy her things that she wants, text her cute long messages, and always be sure to call her throughout the day to make sure she’s doing okay.”

“Wait,” Hoseok started, turning his full attention to Taehyung.  “We are talking about the early stages… That could freak her out, you know.”

Taehyung scratched the back of his neck, looking towards the ground. “Oh,” he smiled lightly. “I guess that would explain a lot.”

Jungkook interrupted. “Why don’t we use our experiences to help us, rather than making general statements every guy should know?”

Hoseok didn’t think that was a bad idea at all. In fact, it would help them all. They could recognize their problems and benefit from past mistakes. The group watched as Hoseok’s hand got to work. When he was finished, he tossed the notebook on the coffee table they were surrounding.

WARNING: mentions of suicide

Hoseok was weary on how to suggest his newfound plan to you and Jimin. “I know how to get you and Y/N off of Namjoon’s radar.” Jimin immediately turned his head to face Hoseok. He was all ears for anything at this point.

      “What is it?”

“You do what I did, make Namjoon think you’re dead!” Hoseok felt like a genius, he couldn’t believe that he was the first person to think of this plan.

Jimin’s first instinct was to decline and think of a different plan. In Hoseok’s case, he lost everything. Contact to family, contact to friends, and his own identity. It didn’t sound like a good idea to him, but he’d consider anything if he could be with you. “How is that going to work? You barely pulled it off.”

Hoseok pondered this for a minute. Jimin did have a good point and it was more unlikely to succeed due to the fact there would be two people’s deaths to fake.

      “Romeo and Juliet.”

      “What?”

“Romeo and Juliet! You know, Juliet “dies” and Romeo can’t live without her because he loves her so much? Too bad she wasn’t really dead…”

“So how do you presume we kill off Y/N in the first place? Only Namjoon is after her. How else would she be killed if it isn’t by his own hands?”

A thought occurred to you as you saw Jungkook kicking the ground and looking at the ceiling.

“Jungkook, would you be willing to go back to Namjoon and lie to him?”

      “What do you mean, Y/N?”

“I mean, so you’re not in trouble AND it helps us. Tell Namjoon you killed me! That will explain why you left and will instill more trust in you with him.”

“I don’t know about this, you guys…” Jungkook sighed, and avoided eye contact with all parties. “This doesn’t sound like the safest thing.”

It wasn’t a safe plan in the slightest, but it was all they’d come up with so far. They couldn’t run from Namjoon forever. “Jungkook, we will make sure that nothing happens to you.” Hoseok said, placing his hand on the younger’s shoulder.

Jungkook took a deep breath and nodded. “Okay, I’ll do it.”

Over the course of the rest of the night, the four of you brainstormed how exactly this was going to go down. You decided that Jungkook was going to tell Namjoon that he shot you in the head, and that Jimin couldn’t stand to live without you and shortly killed himself thereafter.

Jungkook left the house early the next morning so he would get to the headquarters at a decent time. He recited the story to himself on the way there so that he’d have no problem telling it to Namjoon.

He pulled up outside the warehouse and took a deep breath before opening his car door. The walk up to the door seemed long, mainly because his nerves were out of control. What if Namjoon didn’t believe him?

Namjoon opened the door before Jungkook had the chance to knock. “Where the hell have you been? I’ve been calling you for days. Get in here.” He shut the door behind Jungkook. “Why do you look so antsy?”

“I have good news, sir. Very good news.” Jungkook held his hands together in front of him in an attempt to contain the nerves.

      “Tell me.”

      “They’re both dead.”

Namjoon knew who he wanted Jungkook to be referring to, but he had to be safe. “Specify. Who is ‘they’?”

Jungkook’s throat was dry and it felt like he had a lump in his throat. He could bribe old men to give him guns for a discount for days, but the second he tried to lie, it was game over. “You know, they…” Jungkook started, trying his hardest to keep his eyes locked on Namjoon. “Jimin and the girl.”

Namjoon was weary. He couldn’t tell if he was being serious. “How’d they die, give me the joy of telling me in detail how they died. Did you kill them? You might be up for a raise if that’s the case.”

“Yes, sir.” Jungkook was definitely sweating. His hands were moist and he couldn’t help but stutter as he spoke. “I killed Y/N, the girl, first. I shot her.”

“No way. She was your first kill, yes?” Namjoon led Jungkook into the kitchen and sat him down. He took a seat in front of him. Crossing his leg over the other and intertwining his fingers with each other. “Go on.”

“I showed up where they were staying, it was really easy to find actually. Some shithole in the city. I told them I wanted to help them and they believed me.” This whole lying thing wasn’t so hard anymore, Jungkook said to himself. “I shot her when Jimin was asleep. I told him that you broke in and that I tried to stop you. He believed me.”

Namjoon chuckled. “You told him that? You really are a good liar. Continue.” He raised an eyebrow as he listened intently to the rest of Jungkook’s story.

Jungkook paused, realizing that he’s changed parts of the story. He may have ruined everything. May have. “He.. he said he couldn’t live without her. Jimin killed himself. He took a bunch of pills. I… I didn’t want him to do that, I wanted you to be the one to kill him. Wouldn’t that have been great?”

“Yeah, great. Listen, here’s what’s going to happen, okay? Listen closely, Jungkook.” Namjoon uncrossed his legs and pulled a pistol from his belt, loading and cocking the hammer. “You’re going to tell me the truth. Tell me why you’re here, and then you’re going to admit that they aren’t really dead. We both know that, right? As much as I’d just love for them to be dead, that isn’t what happened, is it?” Namjoon shook his head, answering his own question before Jungkook had the chance. “So now, you’re going to tell me where they really are, and we’re gonna head over there. Sound good?”

Jungkook was paralyzed with fear. He was shocked, to say the least, that Namjoon had seen right through his lie.

      “I…I don’t know what you’re talking about. I told you…they’re dead.”

Namjoon chuckled, pointing the gun at Jungkook. “You’re a good kid, you know that? I had high hopes for you. But that’s not going to happen if you’re not cooperating.”

Jungkook shuddered, but managed to keep his cool. Jimin was his best friend, and he didn’t want anything to happen to him. He was always there to help Jungkook out through his bad thoughts. Jimin was like a big brother to him, and he wouldn’t sell him out for the world. Taking a deep breath and with tears welling up in his eyes, Jungkook smiled at Namjoon.

      “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

And with that, there was a loud bang.

Mark was at a loss for words, this felt like a true miracle. He had brought his soulmate, you, to him from across the world, and it turns out that you aren’t that different from him. You’re powerful, literally and figuratively. He couldn’t get enough.

“Soulmate?” You asked, backing up slightly. “Don’t get me wrong, I really like you, but… Soulmate?” Mark was a good guy, but he seemed awful sure that you were his soulmate.

“Look, you know about my telekinesis, so you might as well know about this too.” He took a deep breath. He hoped it wouldn’t change the way you felt about him. He opened his mouth to speak - nothing. He said nothing. Mark took a deep breath and tried to speak again, but he just couldn’t seem to get the words out. “I just, have really strong feelings for you is all. Just a wild guess, heh.”

So, he lied. But it was for the best, he didn’t want to scare you off by calling you his soulmate after knowing you for less than 72 hours. It was better this way. He wanted to fall in love with you for real, Mark wanted the feelings to be true. He wanted to experience the exact moment he fell in love with you.

You smiled, you knew that Mark was already aware of how you felt about him. You held your hand out for Mark to grab. “Follow me,” You led him to the locked door off the kitchen.

It was a room encased completely in metal. It was where you were going to practice with the pyrokinesis. It was a power that skipped a generation in your family, you got it from your grandmother. She had a room just like this in her old home, it was where she would teach you to control the heat and it was the only place you were allowed to use it.

After closing the door, you flipped a switch, turning on vents so that the room didn’t get too hot. “Watch,” You instructed.

You closed your eyes, not thinking about how Mark was watching you. You never did well using the fire around anyone else, unless it was your grandmother. Mark was different though, he actually had a power. He wasn’t going to judge you.

You took a deep breath and focused hard. As you did so, the room then became enflamed. You opened your eyes to observe the work you’d done. It had been a while since you’d use the fire. You had it mostly under control, it had been months since the last time you used it. However, in certain situations, you couldn’t help the heat your body produced.

“Whoa,” Mark looked around the room, not the slightest bit freaked out - only amazed. He looked over everything at least three times. You really were perfect, he thought to himself. It was downright amazing. “No one told you not to use your powers? This had to take years of practice.”

“What do you mean?” You tilted your head slightly, putting out half the fires around the room just by thinking about it. “Just my grandma, but she taught me to control them rather than conceal it.”

      “No institution?”

You shook your head instead of answering, hoping Mark would elaborate further.

“You’re lucky,” He half chuckled, thinking about how awful it was here when he was at the institution. “It was kind of like torture, I won’t lie. Not trying to be dramatic, but fuck, it was pretty damn bad. That’s where I met Jaebum.” Mark immediately shut his mouth, his eyes widening at the secret he just told, one which wasn’t his to tell. Despite how much Jaebum had screwed him over, he still couldn’t bring himself to deliberately hurt Jaebum.

“Jaebum’s like us too?” You looked at the ground, the rest of the fires then going out. “He didn’t tell me anything..”

“No-” Mark didn’t know how to fix this. “His brother. His brother can, uh, read minds. Jaebum was just there a lot. That’s how I know him.” He had to find a way to change the subject. Get it off Jaebum, he was the last person Mark wanted you to think about. “Come here,”

Mark had noticed a door to a balcony, and he grabbed your hand, slowly interlocking his fingers with yours. He walked you outside, standing right in front of you. He moved his other hand just slightly, the leaves around the both of you slowly levitating to twirl around you.

You moved your head to look at every individual leaf. “Mark, this is beautiful…” You then looked down to see that his hand was still locked in yours.

You stepped in closer, touching Mark’s shoulder. You leaned in until your lips were barely touching. “I don’t know what it is between us, but I think you feel it too. Am I right?” And he did, Mark felt it too. He might have even felt it more than you did. He broke the space between you two, connecting your lips.

      “Does that answer your question?”

Over the next few weeks, you started hanging out with Mark more and more. There was no label as to what you were to each other, so you figured it out on your own.

All you knew was that you were important to each other. You got to know Mark better and that’s all you could really ask for. He was a good person, and he was nice to you.

You’d met the remainder of Mark’s friends, most of them had a unique power just as Mark did. You’d learned that they’d all went to the same institution as kids, however, every time Jaebum would come up, Mark would change the subject.

You needed answers from Jaebum himself, since no one else was giving them to you.

You invited Jaebum over to your apartment. You confronted him head on. “Do you have a power?” You started, biting your bottom lip, afraid you’d overstepped a line. “I know about Mark and the rest of them. I’m like them. I need to know about you. I’m so curious.”

Jaebum smirked softly, and took a deep breath. “I do.” He stepped closer to you, and for some reason, you didn’t mind one bit. You liked being around Jaebum. You may have just realized this, but you enjoyed Jaebum’s presence almost as much as Mark’s. Maybe even more. “I read minds. And I can see that you’re thinking of me right now.”

Damn, how did he know? You thought to yourself. You stopped, however, when you realized that he could still read your mind, you cleared your head. Tried, at least.

“And I can tell that you’re thinking about what it would be like to kiss me. Right now.” Jaebum had inched closer as he spoke, and he was only centimeters from your face. “Am I getting it right?”

You nodded, every thought you had about Mark previously being completely wiped out.

“Stop me if I’m getting it wrong, okay?” He leaned forward, his forehead touching yours before his lips touched yours. His lips were soft, you thought to yourself.

He slipped his tongue into your mouth smoothly, placing one hand on your hip and the other to the side of your neck, cradling your head as he did so. He kept kissing you and you kept kissing him back, although you weren’t completely sure why. Jaebum was just so inviting and you were dying to know more, to feel more.

“I think I love you. Do you love me?

      You nodded.

      “Do you love Mark?”

You shook your head. Jaebum smiled; he got exactly what he wanted.
