I’m used to avoid spoilers at all costs, and I hate those who share them. In Italy we’d say “c’è un girone dell’inferno per quelli che fanno spoiler” (“there’s a Circle in Hell for those who do spoilers” linked to the Divine Comedy). But a great book is one that we can appreciate even when we already know the ending.
In these case we do know the story but it’s retold in a fresh way.

Madeline Miller’s “The Song of Achilles” is a retelling of Iliad by Homer but from Patroclus’s POV.
Achilles is not a God, he has a human side and so he’s deeply conflicted. We see him trough Patroclus’s eyes, growing from a privileged child (a bully) to a young man who has the weight of the Country on his shoulders, a guy who is destined for greatness but sill, as a human being, he has his feelings.
