#le corsaire
We spent the day with Soloist Rachele Buriassi to get a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical day looks like at our South End headquarters at 19 Clarendon, as she gets ready to perform Le Corsaire.
This is my breakfast!
It’s not always the same, of course, and includes coffee which I normally get down the street from the studios at The Buttery.
Getting ready for class in the morning always includes taping my toes.
This is what you would typically find in my ballet bag! I can’t live without my Squares (new-skin).
Warming up before company class and chatting with my fellow dancer, Maria Baranova.
With Matthew Slattery, taking selfies. We normally stand at the barre together.
Taking a quick break after Company class, enjoying the sun and the view on the beautiful balcony at 19 Clarendon with Lawrence Rines and Seo Hye Han.
Rehearsing with Ballet Master Shannon Parsley, and fellow dancers Maria Baranova, and Ji Young Chae for the Pas de Trois de Odalisques in Le Corsaire.
Dancers on break— eating, relaxing, and chatting.
We go through so many pointe shoes in a season; I’m sorting out which shoes are usable and which ones are “dead”, or too broken in to safely use anymore.
I always try to find time between rehearsals to see our fantastic PT, Heather Southwick. It’s very important for quick recovery!
Sometimes we dancers sneak in a few Z’s between rehearsals…(shhh) Lia Cirio is napping!
At the end of the day it’s nice to enjoy the beautiful view from Studio 7′s windows.
It’s important to take time to stretch after a long day of dancing. Our Physical Therapy room is the perfect place to take a personal, quiet moment.
Be sure to catch Rachele and the rest of the Company on the Boston Opera House stage, Oct 27–Nov 6 for Ivan Liška/Marius Petipa’s Le Corsaire.
