I’ve been coming up with some ideas for t-shirt designs recently, I’m still settling on what I want to do for it while I research printing and all that (Any help with t shirt printing would be great!)
Tough to come up with an idea when you’re used to working on a brief, I really wanted to incorporate a guitar so I used Jimmy Pages 1960 Gibson “Black Beauty” Les Paul and had the idea of some sort of music festival or tour. I’m really into British invasion bands, blues and 60s/70s rock bands so I wanted to base something around that.
Finished some work off recently and did a quick Jimmy Page illustration to go with the Gibson Les Paul I drew a while back. Hoping to own one of these eventually!
On This Day in History June 9, 1915: Famed guitarist, songwriter and electric guitar innovator Les Paul (June 9, 1915 - August 12, 2009) is born in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Paul is the inventor of his namesake solid-body electric guitar: the Gibson Les Paul. But this isn’t all he invented. According to the NPR interview by Ira Flatow with Sue Baker, the program director at the Les Paul Foundation in 2013:
“Paul invented multi-track recording, echo, delay, reverb, all these things that the music industry depended on later. And because of that, some people have called him the Thomas Edison of music. ”
