I wish I couldn’t describe the sinking feeling when you find a really cute romantic song that just perfectly phrases the feelings you want to have.

Then they say words like “boy” “boyfriend” “man” “dick”

And then you’re reminded of how you’re living in a world that revolves around men. And that you feel like you’ll never get to hear a lesbian song that isn’t about the fact that it’s LESBIAN love, but about love that just so happens to be with a woman/nb. They put emphasis on the fact that the love interest is a woman, almost like “Hey, look! I can be progressive!”, like they’re trying to prove something rather than give lesbians even a little bit of rep in the media.

I remember when I was in a group chat of mostly LGBT people. We were talking about the people we’re dating. There were over 20 people in that chat, most of which had sexualities where they could date a woman/nb(pan, bi, etc.)

I was the only one talking about women. Every single other person spent that conversation idolizing the bane of my existence. I wanted to cry. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, of course, but the feeling of existential dread couldn’t be topped. They all liked women, sure, but every single person there liked men way more, clearly.

I want to listen to a lesbian playlist, and all the comments say “Not lesbian but-” No. Can we not even get something as minuscule as a playlist? I don’t care if you’re bisexual, pansexual, straight, can yall just let us have SOMETHING for once?

I would give anything to be able to have an irl conversation with anyone and just talk about how amazing women are. A conversation where for once people don’t find a way to bring their idolization of men into it.

I’ve only ever met 5 lesbians irl. 3 were people I’m related to, one of which turned out to be a queer trans man(who now has a boyfriend), one is my ex who is severely mentally ill and sent me suicide threats when we were dating, and one was one of the meanest people I’ve ever met(she’s biphobic too, because why not/s).
