celesta is on the bed, waiting for rae. today was their first show, and while its amazing, a part of her wished they’d gotten a longer break after two years of non stop touring, but rae looked excited for it, so she just smiled and went ahead with it.

of course, celesta doesnt hare this; she wouldnt do this if she really did, but it just gets so exhausting, not to mention fan twitter and tweets hating on her just because she’s with rae.

she can take them, on better days, celesta can but today’s just, not it.

not to mention the violet lantern ring going off like crazy. it’s probably another peace treaty signing where love is needed to make the day better, but celesta is currently extremely low on love, she doubts she could even fly a meter.

its one of those days where everything, including a relationship regrettably, feels so fucking heavy and she wants to cry and scream but nothing comes but and its just the weight she bears because she’s a fucking violet lantern, all lovable and nice, and twirls but god she wants to sleep for a week.

celesta takes a deep breath, shutting her eyes.

fuck this.

Rae can sense that Celesta isn’t happy. She knocks on the door to her backstage room. “Hey, babe, are you okay?” She calls, waiting for a reply.

She knows that the fans can get exhausting. The thrill of the crowds are exhilarating in the moment, but being popular also means getting hate. The light is especially on Celesta, because she’s dating her. Rae knows it’s unfair, and god, she would change it if she could.

Knocking gently again, she checks her watch. Plenty of time left until the show. “My love, what’s wrong?”

celesta takes in a deep breath. its not fair on rae if she dumps everything in them before the show, celesta can’t do that.

“‘m good love, just tired,” she mumbles out, not moving from the bed. god she has no clue where the energy for the show will come from at this point, but she’ll make it work, the love in the stadium will eventually energise her.

hopefully.

rae’s excited, geo was waiting for this, oscar is so hyped, even their manager, celesta can’t bring them down, not today, this is important.

the rings buzzing more violently now.

Slowly, Rae enters the room to see Celesta lying on the bed. “You’re clearly not okay, love,” she sits beside her, giving her a kiss on the forehead. “Tell me what’s wrong,” she says, brushing Celesta’s hair away from her face.

She looks at the ring, which is buzzing aggressively. “Is it important? We can postpone if you need.”

celesta leans into rae’s touch, before turning her head to see the ring.

whys it doing that? she doesn’t know herself, she should check it out but she doesn’t ha r the energy to.

this is wrong, the ring should power her, she shouldn’t be here tried.

“‘m okay, i promise, just tried,” celesta gets up after kissing rae’s palm, “and no, it’s okay.”

it’s probably not, violet rings are dangerous as fuck, it’s how celesta raised rae from the dead. the memory of rae being dead haunts her again as she tugs rae closer, not wanting to let go. god that sucked a lot, didnt it?

“You sure? We still have two hours until the doors open, and three ‘til showtime,” she says. “It’s not a huge event, if you need to rest until Coachella, I get it,” Rae assures her.

The ring vibrates again, and Rae furrows her brows looking at it. She checks her watch for any reports of a crime. Nothing. She stifles a yawn before lying down and cuddling Celesta.

Patrol is getting to her. She hasn’t been out in the streets in two years, and the jet lag is still getting to her. New bruises everywhere, running on two hours of sleep, she’s exhausted. She kisses Celesta’s temple, and then winces as she lies on a particularly large bruise on her side.

“they’re expecting me, i’ll be okay,” celesta mummers.

“are you okay? saw that wince, you and geo need to take it easy on patrol, it’s been a while, climb the ranks slowly.” she whispers, pulling rae closer, “sleep, we’ve got time before the show, you need th rest.”

“Just a bruise, nothing to worry ‘bout,” she replies. “I’m fine, babe.” Rae kisses her again. “If you need, we can cancel, it’s not a big deal, love.”

Her entire body is sore from patrol, and Coachella is soon. The band needs their energy.

celesta sighs, “i want to cancel,” she admits, “but i cant, the guilt and not to mention the hate. the fans are outside already,” she insists, “look, we’ll be good, as soon as im out, the ring will power me and ill power you, one show done, simple”

“The fans mean nothing. The media doesn’t matter.” Rae cups her hands around Celesta’s face. “You’re more important.” She kisses her girlfriend again. “I promise, we can afford one show.”

celesta turns her head to kiss rae’s palm, “no.”

she shifts, so she’s sitting now and smiles at her girlfriends, “i promise, once i get on that stage, and my rings normal, i’ll be overwhelmed with enough love, not only for me but for everyone.”

Rae sighs. “Fine. But first sign in trouble, the show’s off,” she says. Rae sits up as well, wincing again as she moves; the bruise on her side is more troublesome than she thought. She needs to get her hair redone, so she stands. “We’re three hours ‘til showtime, so there’s still time to rest.” She kisses her girlfriend again. “I’ll be at hair and makeup if you need me.”

“no,” celesta tugs rae back to her, “youre hurt, im not letting you go. rest for an hour or two, and then you can, ro will understand and bash everyone who tries to interrupt,” she says smiling. “im serious.”

“Babe it’s fine, it’s just a bruise,” Rae argues. “I’ve been worse and still performed, I’ll be fine,” she says. It’s true. At least this time she’s not performing with three proven ribs. “I need to get my hair done before the show.”

celesta shuts her eyes, “okay.” she knows it’s pointless arguing with rae, and she’d rather not get into one right now. “be careful and if it hurts, sit it out, we’ll manage”

Rae nods, and kisses Celesta again. “I will, i promise,” she assures her. “We’ll be great. We always are.” Is that true because of her powers? Possibly. But nevertheless, it gets the crowds going.

celesta leans into rae’s touch, before turning her head to see the ring.

whys it doing that? she doesn’t know herself, she should check it out but she doesn’t ha r the energy to.

this is wrong, the ring should power her, she shouldn’t be here tried.

“your powers help love, mine so too,” it’s true as a violet lantern she thrives from all the love and acts as a medium to channel it into energy for the rest of the group. tired her out but worth it

“I know, babe.” She shrugs. Rae knows once she’s on stage, the adrenaline will get her going and she’ll be able to perform like she always does. But right now, she just wants to curl into bed and sleep.

“how about this, you sleep now, i’ll go for hair and makeup, and then you can go later?” so their timings won’t clash

“No, no, it’s fine. You need to rest too.” She waves it off. “I promise, I’ll be fine.” Rae kisses Celesta again before pulling her in for a deeper kiss. God, she loves her so much.

When kit said their kinda sister, kinda cousin that they grew up with, who was the kid of Harley and Ivy was maybe gonna come over, Jesse did not expect her to come in through the window 5 minutes later.

Kit was delighted. Absolutely, positively delighted. They’d told Jesse about Cherry before, of course, but Jesse had never actually met the other ‘Siren kid’ and Kit was excited.

Cherry did not expect to meet their sorta sibling-cousin-best friend’s partner while covered in a mix of blood, glitter, and hair dye and missing a shoe. But honestly, life is weird. She ushers the hyenas into the house, before crawling through the window after them, baseball bat and bag full of stolen science stuff in tow.

“Howdy!” they grin. “Sorry ‘bout all the uh—” she gestured to herself. “—all this, but I’m also sorta statin’ here ‘til popsicle man ain’t on my ass,” they shrug the bag off their shoulder; and it makes a loud thunk of the hardwood.

“Please tell my there is a baseball bat or a plant or a hammer in that bag and not a what I think it is.” Kit said to Cherry as Jesse’s eyes went wide at the sight of the hyena’s. The hyenas that were headed straight for the baby having play time on the baby play mat spread out across the living room floor.

Kit” Jesse said slowly and nervously. “There are hyenas circling our baby.”

“Don’t worry, Bud and Lou are great with baby’s. Other small animals not so much, but Cherry and I survived them. See look.”

Bud had curled up on the floor watching the baby protectively while Lou had layed down next to the play mat with his head on his paws and was watching the baby sweetly.

Kit bet if she left them long enough Lou would snuggle right up with Birdie.

“And Jesse this is Cherry. Cherry, Jesse.”

“…it tooootally ain’t a buncha stolen bombs,” they say slowly, grinning awkwardly. Cherry sets her baseball bat down against the wall. Her neon skirt is partially frozen from their run-in with Freeze, and they hurry to remove it, revealing a pair of equally colorful shorts under it.

They wave at Jesse excitedly. “Howdy! Cherry Ivy-Quinn, nice to meetcha!” She grins, petting the hyenas and waving at the baby on the floor playfully.

“This explains so much.” Jesse murmers while pinching the bridge of her nose and shaking her head. Sihhinv she speaks and Kit gets the sense this won’t be good. “Hello, Cherry. Kit, could, um, could I talk to you for a moment-” she shoots a glance at Cherry, who Kit also looks at. Still the same old Cherry. “-alone.”

“Sure. Gimme a sec.” Kit picked up Birdie and held the kid in their arms. “Cherry. I Gotta talk to Jess real quick. Please get the bombs out of my apartment without blowing anything up while I’m doing that.”

Then Kit followed Jesse to their room.

“WHAT THE HELL KIT!?!?” Jesse whisper-yelled once the door was closed.

“Freeze is after her, I was gonn talk to you but she showed up so quick-”

“Not that.” Jesse put her hands on Kits shoulders and took a deep breathe. Kit held back the anxiety that this wouldturn into a fight. They’d been workingso hard and not fighting as much recently, but it was still a worry for Kit.

“Kit, I love how protective and family oriented you are, but what I’m scared of is your…I’m not sure how you’re related, but I don’t want her putting Birdie at risk. And the hyena’s being around my baby are really testing me right now.”

Kit let out a breath they didn’t know they were holding. “Yeah thats fair…So Cherry can stay?”

“Hell yeah. It’s Mr. Freeze she’s hiding from. Of course she can stay…with ground Rules, of Course.”

“You and your rules.” Kit chuckled fondly, kissing their girlfriends cheek. “You suck at following rules just as bad as I do babe.”

Kit and Jesse. Smiled at one another and left the room.

“I’m serious though, Kit. The bombs and the Hyena’s are really putting me on edge.”

Cherry hums along to their music and begins sifting through her bag of stolen goods when the baby starts crawling toward her. Usually, this would be fine, until she remembers that they’re literally poisonous to the touch. Cherry hurriedly crawls higher on the couch, trying to get out of arms reach from the infant.

“Uh, Kit-Kat,” they call. “Baby’s tryna like, touch me.” She crawls away from Birdie again, muttering curses as they do.

“Huh, what? Oh!” Kit ran over and scooped up the baby. Looking at the sweetheart in their arms they tickled the baby’s nose and she startled was giggling.

“You wanna see your aunty Cherry?” Kit asked.

Burdie gurgled and clapped her hands excitedly. Kit smiled at the motion, eyes softening. “Cherry, you wanna hold her?”

“Kit-Kat, I’m kinda—” they gesture to herself. “—I’m a lil bit poisonous. ‘Specially to babies.” They make a funny face at the baby as she says it. “Mom gave me the plant thing, remember?”

Cherry grows a small plant in her hand and shows it to Birdie, who claps happily.

“And you think Aunt Ivy didn’t give the immunity stuff to Birdie?” Kit asked with a raised eyebrow. “Aunty Harley wanted to babysit enough times Aunt Ivy though it was best to come along. C'mon, your fine. And I need to go help Jesse, so….”

Andy’s breathing is ragged as she falls to the ground. Her vision is blurred, and she can taste metallic blood on their mouth. Their blood. Every breath she takes is pained and haggard, as she reaches for the god who’s made her this way.

Zeus.

Another lightning bolt sends waves of heat and pain shooting through her body. Her vision blurs again, this time with red as blood fills her eyes from the wound in her head. She won’t last long, she knows this.

The ground meets her faster than they expect. It’s cold and hard and unyielding. She can feel her energy draining out of her—or was that her life?

aasia gulped. today was the big day, the day when she freed her mother, when talia wasn’t locked up.

she’d materialised from shadows and stood in front of the olympians.

“i assume you read my case,” she held her head up high, nodding to themis, who nodded back bleakly.

“i’ll repeat the key details for our guests,” andy was gonna be pissed, “my mother is being wrongly held hostage for crimes that are far less worse than those of diana prince who roams free. what justice is this?”

Andy is very, very angry. And that would be putting it lightly. She glances to Nike, who nods an assurance at her.

“I hope you’ve read my counter argument,” Andy says. “My mother has done so much good for the mortals. What has Talia done? Murder innocents? Take part in the extinction of countless empires? What good has she done to deserve to walk free?” She crosses her arms, head held high.

“you talk of your mothers achievements, let’s talk about the crimes shes committed which are worse than talias.” aasia stands her ground, becoming slightly more confident when she feels her father along with nyx there.

“she’s murdered a friend of my siblings, threatened my siblings multiple times, and not to mention killed my unborn child.” aasia couldn’t look at andy when she said the last bit.

“my mother isn’t the best person, but she walks the grey line. she has helped in countless missions aiding bruce wayne, not to mention she doesn’t force her morals and opinions on her children.”

“And what about Talia’s crimes? Are we to simply ignore those?” Andy shoots back. “My mother has saved the world, and even the universe, countless times. World War One, Darkseid, Steppenwolf, more than we can name.” She straightens her blazer.

“My mother may have her wrongdoings, but let’s not forget her crimes either. You say she didn’t force her morals on her children, and her raised her children to be killers. Destroyers. Just like her.”

“we aren’t. my argument isn’t that talia is innocent, it’s simply thay diana and talia have crimes and achievements equal if one another, it’s not fair to anyone if one roams free while the other is tortured for months to an end.” aasia was hurt andy didn’t acknowledge their child’s death but he was used to it by now. fuck it.

“my mother never made us as such, she encouraged us to follow the paths we wanted to. my sister, addison is the biggest proof and i am proud. and in the way against darksied, the league had offered its assistance, to the world.”

“at least my mother never tried killing her own grandchild”

“But she did kill her own child. Multiple times, might I add,” Andy ignores the jab. It’s court, she’s going to stay calm. “She even tried to kill her child’s fiancée,” she adds. “There is testimonial and physical evidence proving that Talia raised her children as killers.” She keeps her voice even; the courtroom is her domain, after all.

“there’s living evidence, multiple ones may i add, saying she did not. talia raised us to defend ourselves and not as killers, we chose our paths on our own.”

“diana killed me, and thea grayson wayne twice, might i add a member from the legion of superheroes died at her hands as well. but i fear andrea—“ spitting the old nickname out, fun— “here is getting off the topic. i didn’t say my mother is innocent, i just said that a woman who has commited crimes similar to the ones of my mother is left to roam while my mother is being tortured on a daily. that isn’t fair or justice, and as i see it it’s either diana is locked up or my mother is free”

“My point is that the good my mother has done for this world far outweighs any of her misdoings. You mother, on the other hand…” she cocks her head to the side. “Well, she’s far more problematic.” Andy ignores the nickname entirely.

“Talia al Ghul tortured and murdered her daughter Florence three times, Damian once, and attempted murder on myself. She kidnapped her grandchildren and held them captive to—and I quote—‘just talk to her daughter’.”

“My mother has saved the world on countless occasions, with and without help. And while her rights may not conceal her wrongs, she is not on as low a level as Talia al Ghul.”

“mother never touched ben nor peter. she helped the gods, this very council of gods countless times, not to mention her helping bruce wayne and providing support with the league in any form she could,” aasia smiled.

“your mother has left thea for the dead multiple times, stabbed her and repeatedly beat them up under the guise of training, and killed your to be child. they are equal in their scale of wrongs, thats now it is.”

“And so has my mother.” She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. “And we have physical and testimonial evidence proving that she did, in fact, kidnap Benjamin and Peter Wayne.”

“In addition, Talia kidnapped and tortured her daughter for 47 hours when she was only fifteen years old. We also have evidence proving this.”

Andy takes a deep breath, and continues. “My mother single-handedly ended the First World War. She rebuilt the multiverse, founded the Justice League, defeated the Batman Who Laughs, and most importantly, her work as the Themysciran ambassador spread hope and peace throughout the world. Without my mother’s work, the mortal world would not be in the peaceful state it is in today.” She swells with bride inside at her mother’s accomplishments.

“you speak of her achievements but what of her crimes? our mothers have commited the same crimes and that’s what we’re here for, i—“ their time was up, aasia was cut off and it was time for the verdict

Andy sits down and adjusts the pin on her blazer. The problem with Zeus determining the final verdict is that he has a tendency to lean toward the dramatics, meaning that he’s unpredictable at best. She doesn’t even look toward Aasia. She doesn’t want to, for fear that her stone cold exterior would come crashing down.

aasia holds her breath for what feels like forever until Zeus nods towards her. she gives a wattery smile, falling down as thanatos catches her. she won. he did it, mom’s coming home because andy nor florence are letting diana live in a cell. she’s won this, she did it, aasia did it.

Andy grits her teeth before taking a deep breath. She won’t show weakness. Not here. Slowly closing her case files, she exits the room, shaky hands fumbling with her tie as her breaths come quicker.

So this is how she falls.

“we aren’t. my argument isn’t that talia is innocent, it’s simply thay diana and talia have crimes and achievements equal if one another, it’s not fair to anyone if one roams free while the other is tortured for months to an end.” aasia was hurt andy didn’t acknowledge their child’s death but he was used to it by now.

Without my mother’s work, the mortal world would not be in the peaceful state it is in today.” She swells with bride inside at her mother’s accomplishments.

aasia gulped. today was the big day, the day when she freed her mother, when talia wasn’t locked up.

she’d materialised from shadows and stood in front of the olympians.

Aasi sighs before adjusting her sun glasses. While there’s nothing more he hates than the sun—Apollo is cool though—but knocking on Andys door is a close second.

She sighs—that’s literally all they have been doing—before knocking.

Aasia might despise Nyx for withholding a secret, but she has a duty to her and Aasia has to complete it before they lose their divinity.

The house still looks the same from the outside, the only difference is that now it’s got only Andy’s name.

@andy-prince

It’s a cold Saturday afternoon, so Andy and Adonis had been baking, and the warm scent of scones and pie wafts through the house as the two watch a shitty rom-com together. While they may not be Andy’s favorite, Adonis adores them—being the god of passion and all.

Andy groans as she has to leave the sofa, and Adonis, to answer the door. Checking through the peephole, she rolls her eyes before opening the door.

Aasia sees Andy rolling their eyes.

“I’m not happy to be here either” he responds. “I had informed you, had i not?”

Aasia smells the scones and pies and forces himself not to stop. They used to be her favourite thing to bake with Andy, and it seems someone has found another to do the activity with.

At least Aasia is on good terms with Adonis—surprisingly. So the stay wont be all that bad and ending in someone dying.

“I know. Doesn’t make it any less startling for a Saturday afternoon,” she comments. Andy opens the door wider to allow Aasia to step in. “Your room is to the left, last door in the hallway.”

Allowing Aasia to enter their home, Andy returns to Adonis, who is checking the pie. She smiles warmly at him, and he kisses her temple gently, assuring her that the few weeks Aasia was to be here would be fine.

She hopes they are.

Aasia nods and walks in, They smiles to Adonis. “‘sup Ado!” Fully aware they just kissed his significant other a few weeks ago.

That was a mistake.

She then walks to the place Andy said their room was in. Like Aasia doesnt know where the guest room is, she’s lived here before

Aasia takes her phone out and texts her family she’s safe, before they freak out. The thought of them gets a smile on his face, and the hope that maybe living with Andy would be okay.

Adonis waves from the kitchen, checking the pie with one hand. Andy grabs the scones from the oven, breaking a piece off and hold it it to Adonis’s mouth, and then popping another piece into her own. Putting the hot scones on the cooling rack, she and her lover head back to the sofa, where they curl up together, continuing their movies.

The presence of Aasia still bothers her. She can feel her energy from down the hall. Snuggling closer into Adonis, she just hopes for the best. This week couldn’t possibly get worse, could it?

The week is going be so much worse than today.

Aasia signs. Nyx visited her a moment ago for the first assignment and Aasia is ready to jump off a cliff but that’s just going to tickle. How in the living hell are they going to do this?

Right now, Aasia is considered a demigod, they have to re-prove their worth to get back the title of the goddess of shadows which is why the stupid tasks have to be done, the first on as a favour to her dad. What favour does a man whos ignored her for the past century want? Essence of literal Tartarus.

Asia is gonna die.

Gods, why does Aasia need to stay with Andy? Of all the places in the city of DC, he had to be here. Andy was perfectly happy with Adonis; she’s opening a new exhibit at the Smithsonian, she just got her J.D., she’s just adopted a cat—her life was perfect until Aasia decided to rise from the dead.

Sighing, she stops the movie and heads to her study. Adonis has work soon, and she might as well get some work done.

“How am i even supposed to get to tartarus.” Aasia mutters. Their divinity is barley there anymore, the creatures of the night wont recognise her either.

Kissing Adonis goodbye, Andy retreats into her study, opening her computer to start analyzing the newest artifact they archaeologists have brought in. Some ancient rock, probably, just another thing to put in the first humans section of the museum.

Aasia bites her lip, but knocks on Andy’s study either way. Just for a brief moment, she feels like she’s ten years in the past, when she was about to tell Andy he broke his care windows.

It’s a good memory.

They need help, with Thea now too, and his own mission. Aasi isnt going to give in, and Andy will help, especially when Thea grayson is on the line here.

Andy sighs, but stands to open the door. She crosses her arms as she leans against the doorway.

“I though you said you were avoiding me,” they muse, cocking an eyebrow with a smirk. “So, what do you want? I have work to do.”

They raise both eyebrows now, waiting impatiently for an answer. She tugs her tank top down a bit; she’s only in a pair of shorts and a tight tank top, considering it’s a Saturday afternoon, she hadn’t stopped to consider how she’d look to guests. Running her fingers through her hair, Andy glances at her watch before looking to Aasia again.

“Well?”

“Trust me, I do want to, but primordials are bitches,” Aasia says. “When’s the last time you checked your phone? I just spoke to Addison and Nyx, Thea-Grayson Wayne’s been taken by the man in the ditch, Tartarus,” she leans against the wall opposite the door, “My mission is to get some of Tartarus’s essence, but Addison cares for Thea, which is why I’ll be attempting to help get them back, would you like to join me, so i can go back to avoiding you after?”

He does wanna avoid Andy, trust her she does. But, not when something so precious to her sibling is at stake. Addison wants Thea back, they’re gonna get Thea back, no matter if Aasia has to put their pride down for it.

Rolling her eyes, she sighs. “Fine. But it’s not for you,” she says pointedly. She’s lying to herself, but she pushes the thought away.

“Fine, sit, sit.” Andy ushers him into the living room, tossing a blanket aside. “What’s your plan, then?”

“even if it isnt,” she says, sitting down on the floor, “i-we have to get thea back, one way or another, and its a primordial, my first task is to get sime essence of tartarus anyway, and now we need to get thea back.” aasi looks andy in the eye, “i dont give a fuck what i need to give, my priority is thea, and so should yours be.”

“Like I said, I’m not doing it for you,” Andy says again, taking a long sip of her coffee. “I don’t give a damn who you’re fighting for and quite frankly I don’t care to know. So I’ll repeat myself: what is your plan?” She pauses after each word, crossing her arms as she leans back into the sofa.

“great, just making sure we’re on the same page,” she sighs, “and in terms of a plan, i’ve got none. usually i’d have said i could do it, but no more divinity, so you’re taking the lead here”

“I thought it was your task, not mine,” she cocks an eyebrow at Aasia. “I don’t think you’ll get your divinity back by having me execute this for you,” Andy says, running her fingers through her hair.

“forget my task, right now, we need to get thea back. i’ll manage my task somehow from there,” she says. “besides i think you’d be rather happy if im a mortal set to die in a few years,” she mutters lowly, not expecting andy to hear him. “either way, your powers can be affective but we cannot fight a primordial, divine rules still apply to us both.”

Andy furrows her brows at the response, and she scowls. “I’m in good terms with Hades and Persephone. I can reason with them, and thus, Tartarus.” They decide to ignore the jab Aasia’s made, instead focusing her energy on Thea. “Anything from there is your problem.”

“hades and persephone can be spoken with, tarturus is a big ol pit whos mad, he can’t. ive seen it happen, how do you think i got this bad boy,” he tugs her tshirt up, pointing at a scar they god after their breakup.

“and i will, i just need to get close, you grab thea and get out so that whatever happens is just my fault and you nor thea are caught on scene”

Andy looks at the scar. She once knew every scar, blemish, and birthmark on Aasia, but not anymore. She chooses her words carefully before finally saying, “Hades and Persephone still have control over Tartarus. If we get the gods on our side, it’ll be easier to keep damage to a minimum. The less mortals know, the better.”

She doesn’t like the way Aasia said it. She takes a sip of coffee to hide her scowl. “Fine by me,” she replies.

“i know i agree with you,” she says, leaning back. “so are we clear on the outline of the plan?”

“Obviously.” Andy shrugs. “An outline isn’t going to cut it, though. Primordials can’t just be taken down by going in blind.”

“i know, but this is a start. something to work with, and um, i need a favour to ask.” she took a deep breath and got her box out, “if anything happens to me, this has the list of all my possessions and who gets who—“ andy’s name was in there, she hadnt taken it off, she couldn’t—“the reason im giving you this is because you know what everything is and where it is, please make sure they get it, its the least they deserve”

Andy looks at the box, memories flooding back. She hesitates a moment, but she nods. “Fine.” She grabs it quickly before she can change her mind. “Nothing’s going to happen to you,” they say suddenly. She’s not even sure why they said it, but they felt like she had to.

aasia smiled. death was close, she wasn’t sure if it was for him or not but it was close and no chances could be taken.

“eleftheria i thanatos,” aasia says to herself. its an old greek motto, meant something along the lines of freedom or death if she remembers correctly.

Stupid, she thinks to herself. But she can’t help it, it’s like her mouth forms the words without thought of reason. “You’re not going to die.”

Andy nods. “Eletheria i Thanatos,” she repeats. “Freedom or death.” If the two were on better terms, she’d have cracked a joke.

“might not, but i feel death close by, im not sure why.” aasia isnt sure why she told andy that, but she had to, they are working together now. he smiles at andy, “well, thsi will be fun,” but there no joy in her tone.

“freedom or death, controversial when sometimes fear is death.”

“You won’t die,” Andy repeats. It’s almost to herself, but she won’t ever admit that. Truth be told, if Aasia were to die, Andy would crawl into Tartarus herself to retrieve him. But that, too, won’t ever be told. Not anymore, anyway.

“The world is never that simple. We both know that.” She finally speaks, taking another sip of coffee.

“the worlds a bitch” aasia replies after moments of silence, choosing to ignore the previous sentence. she’s a mortal, she can die, andy can’t. and god, is he happy for that. but aasia reminds herself, they dont need to worry about them anymore.

she stares off to space, remembering the last time they were here. “my nickname, asiana,” aasia suddenly speaks up, “its kind of hindi, more of a hindu name, i had a hindu babysitter who used to call me that, it stuck around.” andy asked them this a decade ago, aasi doesnt know why she answers now. “it means home, or shelter.”

“Did it take you ten years to remember that?” Andy hopes her tone is light. “That’s very sweet.” She doesn’t want to think about the possibility of Aasia dying. She takes a long sip of her coffee to clear her head.

Gods, why does she still care about him? It’s been a decade, she doesn’t need them, not anymore.

Liar. The voice in her head whispers. She banishes the thought from her mind.

“she was sweet, and in my defence, i’ve been dead for the past decade,” aasia shrugs, “you look lost, is everything okay?” he notices the behaviour, he’s been seeing for a while now, but chose not to saw anything.

“anyway, god knows, your luck may be bad and i could survive.”

Andy chuckles. “How terrible that would be,” she jokes. Gods, she hopes her tome comes off as joking. “And I’m fine. Just thinking,” she waves it off. “So, what’s your plan for defeating Tartarus?”

“winging it,” aasia smiles. she may be the oldest al ghul, but with andy she doesnt need to be the grown up, she can just do anything else she wants! and its fun, it really is. but that just makes the situation theyre in worse.

“That is a terrible idea,” Andy retorts, lighting a cigarette. Her tone is light, joking. With Aasia, she can do that. It feels natural. Right, even.

aasia rolls his eyes at the cigarette, “you shouldnt do that.” she uses her shadows to flick it outside their grasp. “i thought you quit smoking, why start again now?” she asks, genuinely confused

“I can’t die, so might as well,” she mumbles. Truth be told, it was to cope with Aasia’s death. “It doesn’t matter, anyway.” She waves their hand in the air, dismissing the matter.

“it does matter,” aasia mutters to himself, “OH but before i forget, how’d that show end, i forgot the name but the one we watched together all the time. i died literally a day before the finale.” she grumbles. he meant ben 10, it was fun watching it with andy.

Andy rolls her eyes at the statement, and then shrugs. “I never finished it. Dropped interest,” she replies. Admittedly, she just liked watching it with Aasia and saw no point in finishing it otherwise.

aasia sighs dramatically before throwing her head back, “uuhggghhh, google wont shoe me shit and im dying because of the curiosity! did you really never want to know?”

She shrugs again. “Not particularly,” Andy replies. “You know I’m not one for one for modern entertainment, my dear.” She regrets the words as soon as they leave their mouth. Stupid.

aasia doesn’t notice the nickname, to engrossed in the convo to do so. “yeah i do, i dont get why, it’s so much more interesting than watching people fight to death in your name,” she cringes

“I dont do that,” she waves her hand in the air to wave off the nickname. “I’d rather read, and I have work that I enjoy,” Andy replies. “Modern entertainment simply isn’t as engrossing.”

“have you seen phineas and ferb,” aasia asks, “but no, the andromeda prince has to be working always,” she chuckles, joking.

two things come to aasia then, one, she needs to get someone and two she likes this better than fighting with andy

Andy shrugs again. “It’s simply interesting. It doesn’t feel like work.” She stands to get another cup of coffee. “Would you like a cup?” She asks.

This is so much better than fighting.

“god yes please,” she begs. “i need a cup or i will drop on the spot.”

“and yeah, i guess that happens when you know what you wanna do,” she laughs and shrugs, “teaching is fun but not when fifteen year olds hit on you”

Andy chuckles lightly before grabbing another cup from the cabinet. She doesn’t need to ask how Aasia likes his coffee—she just knows. That’s what happens when you know someone for seventy years, she supposes.

“Ugh.” She makes a face at the comment, and even the idea, of children hitting on Aasia. “I never liked children.”

aasia stares at the coffee, “god youre the one good thing in my life and i love you more than the moon,” she tells it before looking back to andy, “really now?” they raise their eyebrows, since when did andy hate kids?

“besides they’re not kids, they’re teenagers going through puberty and hormones. besides prim says there’s this really hot english teacher who keeps checking me out, so i might try,” she laughs before realising the last part was probably not a good idea.

Andy bites her tongue to keep from saying anything, but turns to grab more sugar from the pantry. She and Aasia aren’t together anymore. She doesn’t care, she tells herself.

“Well, they’re loud and rude and quite frankly, I don’t like them.” Andy refuses to add to the second comment. And she doesn’t hate children, just finds mortal ones annoying.

@andy-prince

Stupid.

@andy-prince

@andy-prince
