A long, long time ago, several friends have taken part in creative exercises in form of art challenges - for each round of such challenge one of the participants had a task of coming up with an idea, a topic or a theme, which then all of them had to execute however they liked in a specified time and without knowing what others are up to..

@danielkordek (from instagram) and emteaART (from deviantart) have decided to revive this ancient challenge, even if only occasionally, both for old and new time’s sake ;].

This week’s topic: draw each other’s pet while taking cues from the art style of the one and only @apofissx.

Creampuff is a beautiful cat of my Friend Tina. And she drew my dog Auggie in return. Such a cool idea - isn’t it? ;]

Rousey’s Story! A Special Kitty Finds Forever!

Beautiful black and white girl, shelter name was Rhumba, was picked up from the streets of Rialto in March 2016 and taken to the Devore Animal Shelter. She was originally listed as Rescue Only for Behavior but then quickly changed to Friendly/Adoptable once they saw how sweet she was. Unfortunately, being locked in a kennel stressed Rhumba out to the point that she began attacking her own tail, not playfully but with real anger. The shelter changed her status back to Rescue Only and put her on the list to euthanize.

I had visited Rhumba at the shelter twice while taking videos of the cats and really fell for her. I was already overflowing with foster and personal cats at home, though, so I waited to see who would rescue her. But as the day went on, I realized I would just have to make it work or she would die. Nell, a fellow foster mom, offered to take Rhumba to the vet and get her through the ISO period. Safe at Nell’s house, she completely stopped attacking her tail.

Once she got to my house and my husband and I got to know her better we decided to change her name to Rousey. She proved to be one of the easiest going fosters I’d ever had. As cute and sweet as she is, I never expected to be fostering her for almost 2 years! Rousey attended many adoption events and stayed at the Petsmart adoption center in Santa Ana several times in hopes of finding her forever home. When KD secured another adoption center, this one at the Petco in Santee, I signed Rousey up for a stay in November. And that’s where she found her happily ever after!

One of the Petco employees, Jenn, fell in love with her! Rousey is now named Moo-Moo and is getting all the love and attention that she always wanted and deserved. She is an only kitty but has a couple lizards and hamsters and fish to entertain her when her mom is at work. And when her mom is at home, she gets lots of snuggles!

I am so happy to be a part of the Kitty Devore Rescue team where I get to help wonderful kitties like Rhumba/Rousey/Moo-Moo find their happily ever afters!
