The final ASK EDDIE livestream of January airs this Thursday, January 27, 7:00 pm PT on the Film Noir Foundation's  Facebook page.

FNF prez Eddie Muller responds to film noir fan questions fielded by the Foundation’s Director of Communications Anne Hockens. In this episode, the second half of a two-parter, we discuss CHICAGO DEADLINE, female narrators in noir, the use of newsreels for propaganda, and which noir had the most perfect cast. We wind up this session with a lightning round of “Noir or Not?” On the cat front, Emily naps and Charlotte attempts to answer a couple of the questions.

Rob Howard is a service tech at Knight Automotive in Plattsburgh. A regular customer brought in her GMC Sierra pickup truck to be serviced, but this was not normal engine trouble. Howard popped the hood of the truck and found a cat sitting in the car’s engine.

“It was kind of a little bit scared so it was meowing and hissing at me. At that point it jumped down to the skid shield underneath the fan,” Howard said.

Howard immediately tried rescuing the scared kitten.

Julius Caesar’s assassination site is now a home to homeless cats

Anyone who has visited Rome and its antique monuments has also seen their four-legged residents: the many stray cats that bask in the sun amid the ruins.

The Roman ruins at Torre Argentina are an oasis in the middle of the city’s chaotic traffic. The site is dotted with the broken columns of four ancient temples. It was here, at a theater designed as a meeting place for politicians, and the same site where archaeologists at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) claim that it’s exact site where Roman general Julius Caesar was stabbed to death in 44 BC – which is now a Roman Cat Sanctuary for homeless cats.

Furry Angel of Death? Meet Oscar the Death-Predicting Cat

Oscar was not Death coming for the old senile individuals. He was a sweet kitty who felt the need to comfort those who were dying. The feline would jump up on the patients’ beds and would curl up next to the ill.  He would show them love and affection when people needed it the most.
