• a tower of books is blocking taeyong’s vision, just a voice comes echoing out from behind them
• “do you have a classics section?”
• “of course! which author?”
• there’s a pause and taeyong starts to get up so he can at least see who he is talking to
• “who would you recommend?”
• taeyong is already running through his alphabetized list that he’s spent hours on making in his head
• when you love books as much as he does, a question like that makes everything around him spark
• but then he sees you
• you seem to be frowning, looking down at the screen of your phone as the familiar notification sound of the college email comes vibrating through the room
• a couple of people studying nearby turn to glare and you whisper a small apology as you put your phone on silent and meet taeyong’s gaze
• taeyong almost wishes you hadn’t
• the urge to bring up the long sleeves of his oversized cardigan to hide his face starts to take over his brain instead
• they’re so cute - i can’t look at them!
• you blink when taeyong doesn’t say anything - he looks as if he has suddenly been struck by lightning
• “sorry - is everything ok?”
• your concern seems to do the trick, taeyong mentally mocks himself for being so awkward, and he says the one name that comes to mind easier than all the rest
• “have you read, um, twain? m-mark twain?”
• the look that you give him tells taeyong he’s picked an author that could put you to sleep - not that he really would argue, it’s just that suddenly all his knowledge has seeped away into the darkest corner of his brain
• “no..i mean i have tried to, but he’s kind of - boring?”
• “jane austen?”
• “aren’t most of her books a thousand pages long?”
• “is - are you looking for a book for a project?”
• you poke your tongue into your cheek, the little action makes taeyong suddenly feel like jello
• “kind of - one of my classes wants us to find a classic author that speaks to us personally. the only issue is none of them speak to me - most of them are dead anyway right?”
• taeyong stares at you and then gives a little nervous chuckle
• you stare back and sigh in defeat
• “i know i must be annoying you right now.”
• “no- no! no, i just……i -”
• i just can’t stop looking at you and it’s kind of insane
• taeyong pushes the thought back and levels himself and his emotions
• “i think you might want to find someone that isn’t exactly a ‘classic’ author?”
• this intrigues you, your shoulders perk and you lean over the librarians counter
• the sudden action nearly topples the neat bunch of books that had originally blocked taeyong from seeing you and he circles his arms around it protectively as he tries not to fall into the stars that are looping through your gaze
• “what do you mean?”
• “w-well the assignment is a classic author who speaks to you right? there are lots of authors from that same time who aren’t labeled classics but they - they might fit that category to you.”
• he is still holding his fingers on the spines of some of the books as you think about the sentiment
• “like who?”
• taeyong, looks at the pile in front of him, mostly to avoid direct eye contact with you, but then he notices something in the mix
• through the mess of titles and textbooks and more he sees one of the colleges oldest and most checked out books
• the great gatsby
• briefly, he thinks about the way in which gatsby speaks about daisy
• a flickering thought of the almost desperate love someone could feel for another
• you tap your fingers and the little memory lights something else in taeyong’s mind and he asks you in a small voice,
• “have you ever read zelda fitzgerald’s work?”
• you haven’t - actually you were unaware she was ever a writer - and when you ask taeyong if her work is available in the library he shakes his head
• “she wrote a novel, save me the waltz, really not popular enough to ever become a classic but if you read it and like it i think -”
• “well how can i read it if the college doesn’t have a copy?”
• taeyong thinks he feels the temperature of his skin rise a little because
• “i-i own a copy.”
• this time you do knock over the tower of books, simply because you jut your upper half over the counter to ask him if he’d ever consider lending it to you and your elbow catches right on one of the books
• they topple over and the loud crash echoes a wave of irritations throughout the library again as you scramble behind the desk to help taeyong get them back in order
• behind the desk like this - you ask him in a whisper
• “i know im a stranger, but you can trust me with the book - i promise!”
• taeyong wants to say of course, but all he manages is a shy hiccup when your hands brush over the same cover
• “here -” you stack the rest of the books up and then push your phone into this palm “give me your number and we can meet up”
• the rest of it all happens in a blur
• taeyong gives you his number - you delete the contact name and write yong with a little book emoji instead
• you text him and insist he put your name down with your favorite little pink flower
• after his shift, he heads to his dorm and finds the book - smiling to himself silently as his dormmate doyoung stares with a look of curiosity from behind his pre-law homework
• and then - it hits ten p.m. - and the all-night cafe on campus is packed and warm and taeyong is standing in front of it with a small scarf around his neck and the book placed carefully in a manilla envelope
• you come bounding down the street, ten minutes late, and skid to a stop in front of taeyong
• you call him mr. librarian and taeyong doesn’t know if the feeling in his stomach is love or his lunch
• “thank you thank you thank you - ill be sure to let you know if i use it for my project!”
• he assumes you just mean one text after you’re done reading it - a yes this is perfect or a i think i need to find something else!
• what taeyong does not expect is that the two weeks you work on your project, you text him daily
• the book is only a mere 230 pages - but you keep telling him about passages and the old articles you’re finding on zelda
• somehow you took one little book and pulled so much from it
• taeyong thinks its been a long time since he’s seen someone fall so much in love with a writer that he misses the feeling he used to get too
• one evening he gets your text just as he’s finishing up shelving at the library, he stops to lean against the cart and read it
• submitted my project, i have to see you and give you back the book!
• he thinks for a second, chewing on his lower lip
• you can keep it, you’ve come to love it.
• the bubbles pop up fast and taeyong nearly loses the grip on his phone when you reply
• that’s so sweet, but i actually just really want to see you too.
• and so you pop by the library when it’s only him left, he’s closing it with the key the school trusts on him with (and the janitor)
• and he almost jumps out of his skin when he turns and you’re there - beaming a huge smile at him
• you’re holding the book and he says, “no really you can keep it-”
• “do you want to go to dinner with me?”
• taeyong doesn’t know if you’ve been privy to his feelings all along
• did you, standing there behind that tower of books, already know he was going to start thinking about you every day after he saw you
• did you already know he’d feel like a helpless schoolboy with a crush on the sun?
• either way you don’t admit it - you just keep that huge smile across the table with pieces of cake between you two and steaming cups of tea
• you babble about your project, about how you had to defend not picking someone more obviously 'classical’
• and taeyong does the one thing he learnt from romantic movies and novels, that when you shiver in the cold air of the cafe, he shrugs off that huge cardigan he’s always wearing and offers it to you without much of a word
• you pull your hands through it and go
• “it feels like a hug!”
• when you’re both done with your food, you ask taeyong if he’s going to walk back to the dorm - you have to take the shuttle across campus
• “thank you for treating me, you didn’t have to all over a book.”
• he shyly scratches the back of his neck and he still doesn’t ask for you to give him his cardigan back
• you look much cuter wearing it anyway, in his opinion
• in the breeze of the night, you step closer to him and taeyong swallows because you’re looking straight at his lips
• “it wasn’t just for the book. are you book lovers so dense?”
• “hu-”
• he starts as you lean in to kiss him, gently and sweetly, the lingering taste of cake and tea on your lips
• taeyong almost falls over - his saving grace is your hand wrapping around his wrist
• “ive seen you in the library before…..so when i got this project i thought it would be the perfect time to talk to you and ive always liked you, so i cant believe how nice you were to me-”
• you start, confessing an onslaught of feelings taeyong was oblivious to
• “-and if you don’t feel the same i understand.”
• taeyong has never been straightforward in his life, but he answers your concern with another quick, soft kiss to your lips
• he doesn’t say everything he wants to either when he pulls back and you’re giving him a slight look of shock
• i like you too, ive liked you ever since i saw you - ever since you toppled that tower of books back on me - ever since you helped me put it back together behind the librarians’ desk
• he can’t force the words out instead he goes,
• “please keep the book…..and my cardigan is yours too.”

• overcompensates with selfless acts that go above and beyond what any person deserves
• offers to carry your bags, learns about plumbing when you mention you have a leaky faucet, asks if you want him to drive you to your appointments which you are perfectly fine getting to on your own
• if there was a puddle of mud on the ground, youngbin would throw his brand new jacket over it just so you could walk over it
• even though you could literally just. walk around it
• doesn’t even realize he’s overdoing it
• he just loves you and therefore knows he has to show it at any given part of the day
• but not like in an aggressive manner
• just a small smile and a “i can pick you up and drop you off if you want!”
• dawon: actually, youngbin, we have practice at that tim-
• youngbin, shoving a sandwich down dawon’s throat: so you said noon right?
• when you respectfully decline any of his help, mostly because you are worried you’re using your friend for his kindness, everyone assures you that’s not it
• actually everyone is super confused how you haven’t seen why it is weird that youngbin would commit hours of research for you when you ask offhandedly if you should visit europe for the summer and then show up at your door with ten pamphlets on different european destinations ‘by chance’
• because - that’s weird - and weird means, in the great way of sf9, that he has a crush on you
• “youngbin, you’re being so nice to me these days how could i ever repay you?
• youngbin about to say that there’s nothing you need to do, he just likes being able to help
• dawon, shoving a sandwich down youngbin’s throat for revenge and also to answer on his leader’s behalf: "actually, if you could finally go on a date with him - i think that would repay it.”
• you get all shy and murmur that you don’t know if youngbin wants that, and youngbin can only vigorously nod that he does
• (due to the sandwich)

inseong

• no clue if puppy syndrome is a thing, but he’s got it
• the human embodiment of big puppy eyes whenever you’re around, big puppy pout, big puppy wagging his tail at just the mention of your name
• even without all that - the energy that exists around inseong when you are near him and giving him attention - it’s enough to quite literally blow everyone and everything else away
• and there are lasting effects
• as in you walk away from the conversation and fifteen minutes later inseong still can’t make out a single word, just chin on his palm - daydreamy look in his eyes
• jaeyoon tries snapping his fingers in his face, tickling him, even flicking his best friend straight on the forehead but.
• nothing.
• the only way he breaks out of the spell you cast on him is either a long time passes or you show up again and inseong is back at your full attention
• it’s getting bad, like to a point where he walks into walls or drops his phone in the sink when he starts thinking about you
• incidents where he nearly topples over onto poor chain who is like get off of me you are built like a skyscraper
• or just flat out doesn’t move a muscle in the right direction during practice and it’s literally driving youngbin mad
• so jaeyoon (like the best friend he is) arranges for you to come hang out with him but tada it’s actually a candlelight dinner in the sf9 kitchen he and the rest of the boys set up for you and inseong
• and you’re like w….whats all this and inseong is like i don’t know either
• and jaeyoon (who like the best friend he is picked the nicest smelling candle from the tj maxx sale aisle) appears and lights it and is like this is for you two to confess and for inseong to be cured of puppyism
• you: puppyism?
• inseong, red as a tomato: i think he means like the way i act around you like a - um -
• jaeyoon: like a lovesick puppy, so like….collar him or whatever
• you and inseong both looking at him like do what? and jaeyoon is like sorry that didn’t come out right
• either way you get the point please date the oversized man whose brain wont work unless you give him a kiss

jaeyoon

• opposite of his best friend, jaeyoon doesn’t need to fall over his feet when he’s lovestruck
• he will literally just let you know how he feels
• “i like you”
• you smile at him and laugh, “i like you too!”
• and jaeyoon is like amazing so we are both “liking” each other how lovely how nice
• and that is………………..where it ends
• he literally is so preoccupied with the concept of confessing that he forgets the part where he has to like.
• confirm the relationship
• so for like a month after you are both just saying 'i like you’ to each other and he thinks it’s romantic and you still think it’s platonic
• it’s a mess
• he keeps asking himself when the right time to ask you to go to the movies with him is, if he should pull out the home cooking - why haven’t you pulled out the home cooking? do you not “like” him enough for that?
• he paces around before you come over because is he dressed too casual - i mean he’s your boyfriend, he should put effort into it right?
• and then you show up and nothing is different and everything is the same and when inseong is like
• jaeyoon you’re dating them right, why don’t you guys like kiss? and jaeyoon is like holy shit i haven’t even thought about that yet
• and dawon is like how have you not thought about that kissing is all i think about ever
• and so jaeyoon’s head gets even more scrambled because now you come over and he’s like ….. kiss……lips……mouth…hand? kiss on mouth…hand…lips…..hug?
• and you’re like what? and he’s like hug lips mouth? and you’re like jaeyoon are you ok?
• oh my god at some point you’re both alone and jaeyoon is walking you home or something and he reaches out to grab your hand because like that’s normal right? people dating do that right?
• and you’re like oh! and he’s like is this ok? and you’re like a-does it mean something?
• and jaeyoon is like it means the same thing as i like you….you know….like how i said it a month ago and i just thought we could take the next step-
• he’s rubbing his neck and blushing and he has always been sauve and straightforward and it dawns on you that the entirety of this month he has been saying he likes you like in that way

• always the class clown, being lovestruck somehow only tends to make it worse
• but not worse like oh he gets louder and cracks more jokes.
• my man has upgraded to mildly dangerous body humor.
• you are all together and dawon is suddenly like you guys think i can climb that uneven, rickety tree? and youngbin is like no and you’re like no but dawon is like it’ll be fun just watch
• dawon: should i drink spoiled milk

• dawon: im hardcore it’ll be fine - look im just a goofy guy who - oh my god. call an ambulance.
• the idea is that every time you are in the vicinity and glowing like an angel without a halo dawon is like
• gotta do something so outrageously stupid that it grabs their attention and/or lands me in a situation where i can excuse myself to run away from my feelings. perfect.
• it’s literally the dumbest logic on the planet
• everyone tells him it’s the dumbest logic on the planet
• but dawon is convinced it’s the best reaction to….to the butterflies in his stomach
• of course, you don’t find any of it amusing, you are just in a constant state of worry
• one time dawon takes it too far and probably tries to do something that could actually seriously hurt him
• and you stop him by grabbing him and being like stop - i don’t know why you don’t care about yourself but i care about you so stop being stupid
• and dawon is staring down at you like

• you kiss him and mutter a “11” and dawon thinks he sees stars
• youngbin thanking you profusely like we were worried for his actual literal life

zuho

• rather scream into the void than confront how he feels about you
• the private twitter account is blowing up with tweets about how he wants to hold your hand and how that makes him pathetic
• dawon replying under each of them: tru
• rowoon replying under each of them: not true!!!!! love is awesome!!!! pog as chani would say!!!!!!
• you talk to him about something and his ears are full of white noise and he cant help but think about how your face is somehow the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen and how he could write a whole album about the curve of your nose and the color of your eyes and -

• it’s the cluelessism of it all
• he looks at you one day and instead of just being a person you are beaming at him like a direct sunray and he’s like woah! weird!
• he just kind of becomes more clumsy around you since you’ve got this new effect on him
• trips over his big feet, giggles randomly while you’re talking, forgets he’s in the middle of the street when you’re walking by his side and someone has to honk three times for him to start walking again
• honestly no one can tell what’s wrong with him
• because is he like … is it early onset amnesia? is he just spacing out?
• even chani notices the shift because rowoon has gone from annoying him to laying half off the couch with his hand in an empty pringles can
• “what are you thinking about?”
• rowoon just mutters your name and chani is like …. i don’t know about all this but maybe you like them?
• reality hits rowoon like a freight truck …. liking you? that’s new
• he googles 'what to do when you like someone?’ literally googles it

• sulks when you’re not around, and then doesn’t go near you when you are around

• it takes everyone all their strength to drag him out of his room when you’re over and even then he puts his hoodie up and plays with his shoelaces and acts like he’s a five year old
• when he gets put next to you in the car ride somewhere he almost passes out from holding his breath from nervousness and you turn to him and you’re like hwi you’re turning purple?!?!?
• you tap his shoulder when he isn’t looking and call him hwi~ and he thinks his knees like. give out he crumbles to the floor and you’re like oh my god are you sick??!?!!?
• to put it simply, being in love forces him to lose his human ability to live
• gets a pep talk from literally every member about how he cannot act like this. it’s giving you the wrong impression and yet he just
• he can’t do anything about it you enter his personal space and the little nerves in his brain go haywire

• realizes he’s being freaking weird when he bails on his plans to eat and game to hang out with you
• prioritizing social interaction over being alone in his room……now that’s not normal
• yes, ok, so he likes you - but now he’s like
• no one can ever know that. i will not be left alone if anyone finds out.
• unfortunately, he asks jaeyoon of all people if he knows what food you like and jaeyoon is like
• OH YOU WANNA ASK THEM ON A DATE RIGHT SO YOU WANNA LOOK UP RESTAURANTS WITH THAT FOOD RIGHT?
• chani standing in the doorway like. what. no….
• the minute chani starts picking the spot next to you when you’re all together is his downfall
• the entire world knows how he feels and he’s like oh fuck seriously
• he helps you go shopping and he comes home and every member is just like :) tell us about the date :)
• and he’s like SHUTTUP
• calls you by a nickname and rowoon almost chokes on his food in surprise, because chani?????? gave someone???? a nickname????? and it isn’t a combination of the word ass and hole?????
• he cannot escape the fact that little things for others, are big things for him
• being attentive and caring and even just smiling in your presence is enough to give away how he’s feeling
• let alone he dropped a rank in league so everyone is like ah - he’s distracted with someone~!
• it gets unbearable to a point where chani is like i cant live with these people always bothering me so im just going to confess
• he pulls you aside and is like “i want to date you - is that ok?” and you’re like of course, was wondering when you’d ask dummy and he’s like,,,,,,listen,,,,
• assumes the teasing will die down when you both come into the room holding hands
• BUT OH IS HE WRONG

• pines from afar, but acts like you are strangers in public
• panics when you touch her casually and makes a run for the hills
• you literally just swipe over her hand reaching for your notes or something and she shoots up out of her chair like! i must! exit! the! room!
• “hey ryujin, you’re acting weird - do you like someone?”
• “pfft no. if i liked someone i would just tell them i liked them.”
• and then you walk in the room and she’s suddenly standing in a corner facing the wall
• curses at herself when she catches herself staring at you
• and she’s like ‘dammit get it together this is embarrassing!’ pinching her nose and whatnot and then turning to see chae looking at her like O_O
• when you somehow end up in front of her, she just can’t help but soften at anything you say
• if you are both alone you could ask ryujin to do absolutely anything, illegal or not, and she’d just nod dreamily because
• instead of you talking it’s just pretty bells and the sound of angels singing
• she has it so bad
• everyone around her soon enough comes to the conclusion also, that she has it bad
• and so when you get 'accidentally’ paired up for some project or end up alone in a room by 'coincidence
• is really the only time ryujin even has a chance of telling you how she feels because if there is an audience she just becomes a shell
• so when you sit down in front of her with a big smile and she opens her mouth to FINALLY explain why she’s been running away from you like you have the plague and saying she doesn’t know your name even though it’s a word she repeats to herself a hundred times on a daily basis
• you’re like
• “i know how you feel. let’s date?”
• ryujin: both thankful for your forwardness but also flushing so much she might have smoke coming out of her ears
• everyone teases her for it because oh ryujin aren’t you supposed to be the cool type who’d just ask out whoever she likes
• and ryujin is like shuttup liking someone is hard
• and you’re also like shuttup ryujin is cool!
• ryujin posing next to you with her hand on her hip like see, i am! but also yelling about how much she loves you in her head.

lia

• absolutely turns the charm from 100% to 1000000000%
• she’s naturally confident so being lovestruck is kind of a new feeling
• liking someone so much that her brain goes a little haywire is like …. not normal for her
• usually, people are lovestruck for her and she has to let them down (in the coolest, most polite way possible)
• she decides that she just kinda has to put in a little more of the work than usual
• just a flip of her hair and handing you her phone to put your number in might not work this time
• (spoiler: it would have totally worked, but for the sake of the au..)
• so she starts learning about the things you like and casually dropping them in conversation
• and then you ask a follow-up and she’s like oh f this was NOT in the synopsis of the wiki article
• throws a hand around you to gauge your reaction
• and when you don’t really move or get all nervous she’s like hmmmmm……am i not having any effect on them?!?
• basically, hot girl misreads the situation a billion times over
• but she isn’t really one to mope about - especially because regardless of it all she really likes you - so she keeps trying
• and her energy just burst out one day and she’s like
• “maybe i don’t know much about your hobbies but i like you so much that if you wanted to go bird watching i would totally go with you even though birds kind of freak me out!”
• and you’re like
• “oh! i like you too :)”
• and she’s like HOW YOU DIDNT EVEN GIVE ANY SIGNS
• and you’re like oh im sor- but too late because who cares you like her back and now lia is kissing you
• also later you’re like we don’t have to bird watch honestly i think cuddling and a movie sounds better and lia is like oh thank god

chaeryeong

• because for her, love can only come from a real deep connection, so you obviously have to start off close before she even considers anything more
• but with that friendship - comes all the things that start driving her a little mad
• little touches, you leaning over to swipe your thumb over her lips when she’s got crumbs
• morning texts that remind her about how much you care and pay attention to her, asking about schedules and upcoming performances
• and a level of comfortability that comes with you being in her space and her being ok with it, even though she blocks others from ever entering it
• her lovestruckness ends up being a detriment because she starts getting jumpy and awkward when you do the things you’ve been doing for a while

• gets a lil………weird
• you talk with her and she’s like wiggling? or vibrating?
• she stretches out her hands and jumps around and you are like are you ok? and she’s like im fine!
• starts talking jibberish and pretending to be interested in the threads on chaeryeong’s clothes instead of answering you
• she’s a little eccentric already so people don’t pay too much mind but it just seemingly gets worse when you’re around
• itzy asks her what is happening and she’s just like. i don’t know. i just don’t know what to say around them….
• and they’re like so you start acting like a piece of jello during an earthquake? and she’s like ………. leave me alone
• practices having a normal conversation with you in the bathroom mirror while she’s brushing her teeth
• but even then she ends up saying something weird or out of the blue because just the thought of you makes her brain go all fuzzy
