Way back in the day, my college’s Hillel was doing the Purimspiel on the second floor of a bar/restaurant across the street from campus at the same time the whole first floor was doing St. Patrick’s Day. We each had our own space but could hear each other and it was very festive and cozy :P
There was a time not too long ago (okay, maybe 20 years ago, my time sense is not great) when Purim coincided with Mardi Gras. Former housemate and Emergency Backup Bridesmaid (long story) had a Jewish housemate at the time, and so her annual Mardi Gras party got turned into a Mardi Purim party. The most amusing part of which was her attempts to make versions of the usual Cajun fare she made for the party that were even remotely kosher. (Cajun food being heavy on pork and shellfish, not to mention the occasional alligator.)
But to say the least, we could not distinguish Haman from Mordechai by the end of the night.
