Dinner was delicious tonight. Chicken paprikash! I truly enjoyed it. My husband, sister and brother in law all gave it great reviews. Whether it’s true or just sparing my feelings.. I enjoyed it and I’ll take that compliment and out it in my ego. Thank you.

adhd-and-asd-dandelion:

There’s such a stigma around picky eaters like it’s some great flaw that must be fixed at all cost but like… It’s literally a neutral thing? Not some kind of moral failing? As long as you have a plan of how you can get the nutrients your body needs, you’ll be just fine- and even if you can’t do that for whatever reason, that doesn’t make you a bad person.

I feel like especially in poor families/families made up of parents whose parents used to be poor or who themselves used to be poor/cultures centered around food, there’s this whole thing where you’re seen as spoiled and selfish if you don’t eat the food put in front of you, even if you are averse to certain textures and tastes, whether because you’re unknowingly allergic or because you’re neurodivergent,

and I’m here to tell you that it’s okay if you can’t, if eating something makes you feel sick or feel bad and you don’t want to go through the horrid ordeal of forcing yourself to consume it, if you can only eat a very small array of foods. You deserve to have people consider you when they make meals and to make things you can eat (if they can afford it) without judgement, and you’ll never be a bad person if you can’t eat something, regardless of what it is. Being a picky eater doesn’t make you a bad person, full stop.
