The name Mikasa has several significant links in Japanese culture:
It means “three bamboo hats”, which was a unique pre-dreadnought battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy, and served as a flagship during the Russo-Japanese War. Hajime Isayama, supposedly named Mikasa after this vessel due to his belief that series’ with female characters named after famous warships come to be successful.
I have always loved Mikasa since the first time I saw her in the anime. She’s beautiful and strong, she showed us that women can be strong too, or perhaps even stronger. She’s everything I aspired to be and I love her very much.

Summary:

It was the first time Mikasa found herself this much exposed in front of him. And the last thing she felt was any form of discomfort, but still, she wished that he didn’t have to witness something so unsightly.
