Leonardo Romero’s original model sheets for The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem characters (2019). Shared by Romero on Instagram (October 2020).
These were all based on @gerardway ‘s original designs. And in the case of the Codes, I also took inpiration in some sketches @beckycloonan did years ago!
[ID: A screenshot of a panel from The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem Issue #2, picturing a shot from the waist up of Mike Milligram, brushing some hair out of his face with a smirk. He has black chin-length hair pushed back as well as his yellow domino mask and is wearing a pair of brown fingerless leather gloves with a light blue shirt that has “bullet/proof” written in yellow on it. In the bottom left part of the shirt there is a number 1 in the same color that blends in with a trim at the bottom, and on top of the shirt he’s wearing black leather jacket. The picture is captioned with “so there’s this he/they” End ID.
I headcanon that Mike’s mom killed herself and that’s why Mike ended up being the way he is.
Cause if you look in that one panel of issue 4 of National Anthem, and see a young Mike crying as he stands in front of what is more than likely a casket bearing his mother’s dead body, you can also see a ray gun in his hand.
So I think because of his mother’s death, it’s why Mike turned out being the way he is. And also why at the end of the comics, he gave up the Killjoy lifestyle to be with Jaime and so Jaime could have a dad, rather than Mike continuing the Killjoy lifestyle and possibly getting killed at some point.
And he more than likely didn’t have a dad in his life either, so he wants to be a father figure in Jaime’s life. Not the perfect father figure, cause no one is perfect, but to at least be a father figure for Jaime
