emilycrandall:

since i got a few asks about it, i wrote a really quick guide to miss clue

~~CHAPTER 1~~

- call aunt eloi– i mean, aunt ellen on the phone in the room

- the room key is in the desk drawer, which you can get to by getting a close up of the desk and then clicking near the bottom left corner

- to fry the donuts, you have to pick up a match first and light the burner on the stove. the matches are in a black sort of small fixture on the wall (idk what it’s called) slightly above and to the right of the stove

- donut purgatory is normal. just keep going and eventually she will say she’s done.

- grab the broom from the closet near the locked door

- try to go outside

~~CHAPTER 2~~

- grab a cork from the drawer in the kitchen (the one with the scale on top of it)

- go outside and to the boat dock. you’ll find it’s full of water

- go back and then to the boat house. you need a key

- go back to the “resort” and look to the left of the fridge. click on the boat house label. it’s missing

- go upstairs and into your room (#8). call aunt ellen like 3 times

- go downstairs to the lounge area and read the green book on the bookshelf (for some reason u can only read it when approaching the bookcase from its left side, idk why)

- the boat house key is behind one of the middle cushions on the couch

- go to the end of the hallway past the stairs cupboard and open the door to the kitchen (it stays locked forever even when you come back this way, idk why it’s really dumb)

- go out to the boat house and use the key

- collect a bunch of stuff: oars, bucket, oar holder thingy, hammer, some tiles (??? or whatever the beige things are), oars are behind the green boat, bucket is near the barrel, tiles are on top of another barrel, and the oar holder thingy is in a box on the shelf. the hammer is in a toolbox near the barrel with the tiles

- go out to the boat dock and use the bucket on the boat (it’s glitchy af you might have to back out and back in and spam click it several times)

- use the oar holder thingy on the tiny hole near the top side of the boat, put the oars in

- click the end of the boat closest to the dock to flip it over. put the cork in and hammer it a few times with the hammer

~~CHAPTER 3~~

- Go forward in the boat several times

- At the docks, click on the canoe

- Turn around and go forward several times

- Knock on the door a few times and turn back around

- Go back to the docks

- Click on the area where the canoe was

- Hear a strange sound and click on the nets on the dock

- Click on the water near the boat and go back to the lodge

- Click on the bird on the boat and it’ll come with you

- Go to the boat house and click near the crate things, behind one of them is a perch. Take it.

- Grab the tile things (still don’t know what they are) because apparently they were taken away from you

- Go back to the lodge, grab the brook (again, taken from you) from the closet in the kitchen

- Go upstairs and into your room

- Go to the dresser and zoom in near it, put the perch in the corner near “Twinkle”

- Put the bird on the perch

- Talk to the bird (this is getting weird)

- Go back down to the kitchen

- Light the stove and fry a donut, you can carry it with you but you can’t put it in your inventory

- Try and give it to the bird

- Talk to the bird again

- Go downstairs to the bookshelf and read the book about parrots. Pick up the parrot donut recipe (….)

- Call Aunt Ellen twice

- Go back downstairs to the kitchen

- Light the burner again, hold the parrot donut recipe and click on the donuts… fry it (it should be green with yellow flecks in it)

- Carry the donut upstairs and feed it to the bird

- Take the ring

i did this from memory so please let me know if i missed anything

hopefully this will save you from the hell i went through while playing this game that is searching for like an hour for some things

So I found the biggest blatant Nancy Drew games rip off ever. It’s called Miss Clue and follows Jane Austin novels. The game starts off with a Nancy Drew looking opening letter much like the games and has the main character explaining why she is where she is with the addition of photos much like the Nancy Drew games. Even some of the stuff she says sounds like something Nancy would say such as “I’ve already been here for a little while, but I’ve been nothing but uneasy to say the least,”. After the intro, your welcomed to music similar to that of the music heard while outside in Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake and a scene that looks like it could be directly from a Nancy Drew game:

I don’t want to get the developers in trouble, since it’s obvious that they worked hard on it, but they could at least try to be more original. I mean the magnify glass cursor looks like it was directly pulled from the Nancy Drew games. :S

uhhh…
