So everyone pretty much knows by now that I’ve gotten sucked into Miraculous Ladybug pretty hard by now, and today’s the third anniversary of the show’s release. I’ve only been in this fandom since mid-May, but I’m going to have some real talk for a bit because I actually have a lot I owe to this fandom and series as a whole.
When I stumbled over Ladybug, I was actually ready to give up art completely for physical health and mental reasons. I’ve been struggling for years with a situation that’s made art less something I loved and more something that I was punished for doing. It was a chore that gave me anxiety every time it was mentioned. I had grown stagnant, I didn’t like anything I made, and I’d already given up writing completely. It was the lowest I’d been in a long time and I was done. I found this show on one of my worst days when I was out for three days with a migraine that wouldn’t go away, and within a week everything had turned around.
Suddenly I was devouring as much as I could get my hands on, I was pulling all-nighters reading when I hadn’t read for fun in ages, I was finding loads of amazing new artists that inspired me to push through my slump and love what I made. It was a huge difference for me, and I haven’t felt this good about my work in nearly ten years. So as sappy as this is, I want to thank this fandom for giving back something I thought I’d never see again; my love for what I create and pride in what I make. And knowing that even if only a few people stumble over my work, there’s someone out there who truly loves what I do.
So in honor of the anniversary, I’m going to do a shout to the people that made a huge impact in bringing my art and writing back from its early grave.
And the artists in this fandom are absolutely stunning people, and I wish I could list everyone but I’m still finding new people every day that I need to watch. So to the people who are as new as I am or just don’t know this fandom, I’m going to throw down some names of people that make me want my art to be better. These people are incredibly talented and do absolutely adorable work, and y’all need to go check them out because I can’t do any of them justice.
And again I am so, so sure I forgot a million names but this fandom is absolutely stellar with the things they make, and I can’t even begin to list the tip of the iceburg. So, as someone who is getting better a little every day, I want to say thank you to everyone who makes content in this fandom. I might not have found everything, but what I have seen is absolutely inspiring and has done so much to help me want to improve and get past my own slumps. See you all when the next episodes drop!

Felix has always known that there will be others.
This is how it’s supposed to work, isn’t it? Destruction is eternal, and so is Chat Noir. The temporary one is – was – Felix.
Now another man bears the mantle he cast off.
Gray eyes narrow, his lips pinching as he stares at the television screen.
But that is not a man.
That’s – that is a child. A child running around in a goddamn leather cat suit, tasked with saving the world. A small child. The tip of his black ears barely clear the chest of the police officer he’s talking to. The boy’s gesturing wildly, likely trying to give instructions for an evacuation. His lips are moving, though the camera is too far away to capture the words.
His voice probably hasn’t even deepened yet. A superhero barking orders in a high-pitched teen’s voice.

I have returned from my exile to bring you more art for Iron Kissed written by the amazing @mini-minou! (Warning: fic is rated Mature for a variety of reasons) No these aren’t spoilers, I promise, I just wanted to draw ship art and then someone asked for a tutorial on how to draw Faedrien’s squishy feets but I kept getting derailed on that so I’ll likely have to do it again. Oh no. Draw more catboys, whatever will I do.

SO THERE’S ACTUALLY A FUNNY STORY TO THESE, I read the amazing fic Velvet Soft (found hereon tumblr, and hereon Ao3, warning for mature content!), and then I got commissioned and I almost screamed from excitement?? Because Saij’s work is such an inspiration and THAT PENCIL ART IS LIFE GOALS like??? Hhhhhffffff. But yes anyways I am ridiculously happy with how these both turned out, though apparently the scanner I use is STILL determined to wash out half my shading, but I made it work. It was unbelievably fantastic to get asked to do art for one of my role models, and when I was told to just draw the character however I want, I knew exactly what to do. Art for my fave fics of course! I’m shameless, I know, but I couldn’t resist.
