Can we talk about the moment at the end of “Evolution” where Ladybug and Chat Noir left Monarque back in the past and for a solid moment Gabriel was just perfectly contend staying there, which would have resulted in Adrien back in the future being rendered completely parentless?
Adrien for a few moments lost his father entirely to the past and he doesn’t even know that he himself was the one who opened and closed the damn portal…
Gabriel has been lost in the past for a while now, just not physically.
Seeing Master Fu again was exactly what Marinette needed to help her rebuild her confidence with the support of Chat Noir and in this essay I will—
It has everything to do with Ladybug telling the younger Fu, “You will be haunted by the mistakes of the past, but one day you will have peace.”
And that’s what Chat Noir was trying to tell her in both the S3 and S4 finales. She made big mistakes in both episodes and she was reeling from their effects so much she couldn’t pause and think like she always does when there’s a problem, but his presence helped her realize that her mistakes have a solution, and that making them shouldn’t stop her from facing them either.
She was telling the young Fu what Chat has been influencing in her all along, and reminding herself that if Fu, who accidentally caused an entire temple to burn down, can fix his mistakes, so can she.
Mistakes can be recovered from, if we keep moving forward.
Based upon the subs, it seems pretty clear that the rings that Gabriel and Tsurugi will be selling are one in the same with the prototype Tomoe carried willingly into battle.
She clearly knew where the Miraculous was and was not, so it was far easier for her not to entirely lie to the heroes.
I bet you these designer rings will be super pricey and most of our…dark holders, for lack of a better term will be either very wealthy like Chloe or the beneficiary of someone with wealth like Lila.
Considering we also know that Luka has been said to be a tragic figure, I would not be at all surprised if one of the rings found it’s way onto his finger.
Oooooh that’s a good point about the pricy thing. I was imagining that the rings would be some mass manufactured device for mass control of the population but your idea also sounds likely.
Then again, if those rings are only for Gabriel’s allies, why advertise them at all?
Crack-ish prediction: when Nathalie finally decides to make a move against Gabriel, she’s gonna march up to him… then Gabriel pushes a button on his desk and her robo legs will just fall apart and collapse.
Because those robo legs are a Tsurugi product, and like any trendy tech company the device is unnecessarily connected to the internet and can be disabled at any time should the manufacturer decide to do so :)
Okay, if Nathalie is both apparently getting a redemption arc and is going to continue to rock the exoskeleton look, could we maybe see more videos and memes with her just going full-on Terminator here?

Deeply curious as to what those rings are tho. Could they be the same as the rings shown in the op or are they not.
Because I can’t see Gabriel putting miraculous magic into a mass manufactured product. Surely that’s gonna backfire on him.
Unless… only he can activate it. He akumatizes someone wearing one of those rings and activates whatever miraculous ability he likes to boost the akuma.
Anyway another ~fun~ episode. The situation for the heroes has arguably only gotten worse! :D
I’m sure someone’s already pointed this out.. and I know we all hate literally every hawkmoth outfit but… I think the new design is proof that Gabriel’s mind will be immediately impacted by the weight of all those miraculous. Here’s why:
As much as I hated the condom head look:
Something Gabriel obviously achieved with this is concealing his identity. Even when Adrien found out and Gabriel got the cat miraculous:
He covered every part of his face that he could. Now you might say, ha that’s speculation he might just be shit at costume design and I’d be inclined to agree.. except that when he akumatised himself he broke his pattern:
As The Collector he wanted to grab LB and CN’s attention and say hey! Look it’s me! Gabriel Agreste! I’m akumatised! I can’t be Hawkmoth! And waddya know? There’s his hair, hairline, jawline, cheeks, nose. It suggests the usual costume design is like that because at least on a subconscious level, Gabriel is trying to be smart, calculated and sneaky and he wants to stay hidden as long as possible.
Now let’s look at the latest costume:
Alright, the mask is a bit bigger now, we can’t see the hairline, nose or most of his cheeks… but we have his ears, jaw, neck and his hair. And let’s be honest, he looks more like Gabriel now than ever (if Gabriel was wearing a cheap batman mask and purple facepaint)
This is a break from his norm! Until now every costume has hidden as many of Gabriel’s features (not that it matters about effectiveness because magic, but it shows us Gabriel’s state of mind). It’s almost as if he’s too confident now to care, like he’s untouchable even if he’s not carefully hidden away. Oooorrr he’s already being pushed towards madness and his logic and tact are starting to slip.
If Gabriel is also immune to that “too many miraculous will destroy you” rule I’ll be disappointed. Marinette being immune can pass off as a coincidence but Gabriel being immune as well means that in fact it’s all optional and the whole “no holder was ever able to wear many miraculous at the time without going insane” is pointless. And Marinette didn’t even wear as many as Gabriel and she only had them for one mission so it made sense, so him being immune would be straight up bad writing. I want to see him loosing himself until it kills him. There have to be some consequences.
