MLQC Mini Garden Series: MC

A character-study-headcannon series where I diagnose MLQC characters with plants and a bit of poetry. Part five.

Other parts of the series: Lucien/Gavin/Kiro/Victor

Magnolia

“With my heart singing to the stars, I shall love all things that are dying. And I must walk the road that has been given to me. Tonight, again, the stars are brushed by the wind.” - Yun Dong-Ju

A little pretty fact about magnolia flowers: It is a symbolic flower in many different cultures all around the world, and is believed to have existed since the beginning of time. There are over 200 species of magnolia flowers, with many new species being developed all the time.

In China, magnolia flowers are called 玉兰花 in Chinese. They symbolise the yin, or the feminine side of life. It also once symbolised purity during the Tang Dynasty, and was planted all around the palace.

Magnolias also typically symbolise everlasting bonds, longevity, perseverance, sweetness, and beauty. All very fitting descriptions of MC :)

Apple blossoms

“Because the sunset, like survival, exists only on the verge of its own disappearing. To be gorgeous, you must first be seen, but to be seen allows you to be hunted.” - Ocean Vuong

Apple blossoms, or the Malus pumila, are chos n for the list due to its meaning - these flowers represent the concept of life continuing, to carry on living, and eternal life. It is also symbolic of a long life, describing how we’ll all have to continue living even after we’ve endured a rough winter in our lives.

This flower reminds me of MC very much - from her determination to keep taking the right step forward for the betterment of the world. It also reminds me of Spring Day from BTS, or Arthur Rimbaud’s poem, L'eternité (Previously mentioned in Lucien’s post if I remember correctly).

Almond blossom

“Every life is in many days, day after day. We walk through ourselves, meeting robbers, ghosts, giants, old men, young men, wives, widows, brothers-in-love, but always meeting ourselves.” - James Joyce

Almond blossoms are symbolic of an eternal love unconquerable by death, and it’s because of the Queen of Thrace from Greek mythology. The queen, Phyllis, was in a hopeless despair as she believed her true love wouldn’t ever return, so she commited suicide and thus gained sympathy from the Gods, who turned her into an almond tree. When her lover returned, he embraced the almond tree, who blossomed beautiful. Thus the almond blossoms also represent eternal hope.

They also symbolise courage, blessings, the coming of spring, good fortunes, and purity.

A little side tangent here, but almond blossoms were also featured in a series of Van Gogh’s flower paintings. “Almond Blossoms” was described by the artist to represent awakening and hope, and one might also notice a change of his style in the painting - it was due to the fact that Van Gogh was inspired by the Japanese style of printing art, Ukiyo-e (浮世絵), or the floating world. It’s my favourite painting of Van Gogh’s!

Ambrosia

“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.” - William Shakespeare

Ambrosia in Greek mythology is the liquid or food which the Gods and Goddesses drink, or a liquid given to mortals to make them immortal. It represents immortality (-am for not, and -mbrotos for mortal in Greek), and there are thousands of years of history behind these common yellow flowers.

Another fun fact is that the ambrosia flowers also belong in the Asteraceae family, which means it is related to daisies, among other flowers!

Other than immortality, ambrosia flowers also represents love and devotion, or a love being reciprocated.

Not to mention, the ambrosia flowers also symbolise care and support - it’s told that a nymph by the name of Ambrosia, who was one of the nymphs to nurse the Greek God of Wine, Dionysus, back to health.

Dandelions

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.” - Haruki Murakami

Dandelions! Weeds for many, but a meaningful blossom for those who know its meaning. In Chinese, they are called 蒲公英 (pü gōng yīng). They are found all around the world, and are valuable sources of nectar for the pollinators. They come in two ‘forms’, a sunny yellow blossom, and the white cotton-ball-like flower we’re all familiar with. Both have very pretty meanings.

The flower in general symbolises hope, happiness, optimism and wishes - it’s told that if you gather the seeds of a dandelion and blow it towards the winds while making a wish, your wish will be granted.

The yellow blossoms of a dandelion flower only strengthens its joyful meanings, particularly in Japan. They are also symbols of hope and love, the yellow petals like the sun shining on all the beautiful things in your life. Lastly, they symbolise resilience - dandelions can thrive even in the harshest weathers, and are a thus a little symbol of courage.

This flower reflects MC’s personality - innocent, but courageous and determined. Hopeful, lovely, and her optimism is contagious to anyone who meets her. Like dandelions thriving between cracks of concrete, she is able to rise above any obstacles life throws at her, and strive to be the best person she can be.

The first character of MC’s Chinese name, 悠然 (yōurán), also means carefree, which reminds me of the nature of dandelions, flowing and letting the winds bring them wherever they need to be.

Hello again! I do realise I’ve been procrasinating on this post for the past week.. I totally wasn’t building random houses in the Sims 4.

Anyways, I do hope you enjoyed the post! If you notice that the “karma” wasn’t credited to anyone, it’s because I made it. I was disappointed there was not a single good karma where MC is alone so I made one. Though the quality is obviously not even comparable to your average MLQC’s CG, I tried my best :P

Have a wondrous weekend! Stay safe and stay hydrated. How about you take a shot of water for every time the word 'symbolise’ appeared in this post?

MLQC Mini Garden Series: Victor

A character-study-headcannon series where I diagnose MLQC characters with plants and a bit of poetry. Part four.

Karma CGby@acrispyapple

Other parts of the series: Lucien/Gavin/Kiro

Strawberry blossoms

“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.” - Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream

It’s only fitting of us to mention a sweet blossom for our sweet-tooth(ed) Victor. Strawberry blossoms are a Shakespearean favourite. It symbolises perfect righteousness, as - according to Shakespeare - strawberries taste sweet even if they’re traced with poison. No vile things can possibly taint a strawberry.

Because of this, strawberry blossoms also symbolise excellence!

And beyond these meanings, they can also be used to represent the pleasure of love, sensuality, or lust.. well, he is so far the character with the most lustful-looking of karmas, isn’t he?

Gladiolus

“The future has several names. For the weak, it is impossible; for the fainthearted, it is unknown; but for the valiant, it is ideal.” - Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

Gladiolus’ name - befitting of the flower’s long and pointed shape - comes from the Latin word gladius, meaning sword. Therefore the meaning of gladiolus flowers are victory, strength of character, pride and honour. They also represent faithfulness and integrity. They can also symbolise remembrance.

A red gladiolus can also be given to tell someone that they have pierced your heart, which I find strangely romantic. And quite frankly, very fitting for someone like Victor.

Red roses

“They sat on a park bench, held hands, and told each other their stories hour after hour. They were not lonely anymore. They had found and been found by their 100% perfect other. What a wonderful thing it is to find and be found by your 100% perfect other. It’s a miracle, a cosmic miracle.” - Haruki Murakami, 1Q84

It isn’t possible to mention Victor without mentioning roses. Having appeared in many of his karmas, character CGs, and official art, the rose is canonically the flower to describe Victor.

Red roses, to be specific. The universal flower of love.

Roses come in plenty of colours, each with very different meanings (E.G: Blue for unattainable dreams, and yellow for friendship, or infidelity).

When it comes to red roses, the number of roses one gifts can convey all sorts of romantic messages:

  • 1 rose: I love you; you are the only one for me.
  • 2 roses: Let us be together, unity.
  • 3 roses: You, me, and our time together.
  • 6 roses: I’m halfway head over heels for you.
  • 10 roses: Perfect love.
  • 12 roses: Be mine.
  • 24 roses: I am yours.
  • 36 roses: I will remember all about us.
  • 40 roses: My love is genuine.
  • 50 roses: My love for you is limitless.
  • Anything above that: I am horribly rich.

Arbutusflowers

“When two souls, which have sought each other for, however long in the throng, have finally found each other.. a union, firey and pure as they themselves are.. begins on Earth and forever continues in heaven.” - Victor Hugo

Arbutus flowers aren’t as widely popular as, say, roses or tulips. However, in the places where they’re commonly grown, they’re known for their healing properties and their fruits are used to make brandy.

Arbutus flowers come in two colours: white and light pink. Both of them bear different meanings. For white arbutus flowers, they symbolise respect, humility, purity and dedication. Light pink arbutus flowers symbolise an everlasting love and an eternal devotion - this pretty much summarises Victor’s love, does it not? It reminds me of his quiet affection; his respect and dedication for MC.

Not only so, but these flowers, regardless of colour, symbolise promises kept. What’s even more romantic is the fact that sometimes, the arbutus plants’ leaves are heart-shaped.

Honeysuckle

“Even where a path ends, there’s someone becoming a path. There’s someone becoming a spring path, and endlessly walking along.” - Jeong Ho Seung, A Spring Path

These sweet and beautiful flowers are treasured in both France and China. Though they have had many different meanings throughout history, today, they are mainly a symbol of happiness. As the vines of a honeysuckle plant are stubborn and hard to be killed, a honeysuckle flower can also symbolise devotion and an everlasting love, or ‘the flames of love’.

Interestingly, these flowers can also symbolise affection - namely, a lover’s embrace. Therefore they too, symbolise true love and faithfulness.

Honeysuckles are actually a medicinal plant. The flower can be added into herbal medicine as a remedy for coughs and colds (and in some cases, poison), and give you positive feelings of comfort and nostalgia. Like Victor’s puddings :)

Plum blossom:

“We were hands, we baled the darkness empty, we found the word that ascended summer: flower.”

“Flower - a blindman’s word. Your eye and mine: they see - to water.” - Paul Celan, Flower

Plum blossoms have been a meaning-filled flower since ancient times. As they are flowers which bloom proudly at the end of winter, they are known as the herald of spring in Japan. A sign of good things the come, of purity, and renewal.

This is especially true in Chinese cultures, where plum blossoms, known as 梅花 (méi huā), are seen painted in paintings, written in poems, and decorated around the house during the Lunar New Year. They represent good luck, prosperity, wealth, health, and virtue. Plum blossoms are also the national flower of China.

As they are one of the few blossoms to bloom between the cusp of winter and spring, they also symbolise perseverance and hope; transitions of life and the values of virtue. In summary, it tells the tale of a long darkness being alit and enveloped with light.

Couldn’t upload this sooner as I was caught up with assignments, but here it is! MC’s mini garden is coming next, though it should take a while, given the fact that there’s something I have to do for her post.

Hope you’re enjoying the series. Stay safe, and have a wonderful Saturday!

MLQC Mini Garden Series: Kiro

A character-study-headcannon series where I diagnose MLQC characters with plants and a bit of poetry. Part three.

Karma CGby@acrispyapple

Other parts of the series: Lucien/Gavin/Victor

Sunflowers

“You are the sunlight that rose again in my life, a reincarnation of my childhood dreams. I don’t know what these emotions are.. am I still dreaming?” - BTS, Euphoria

How can we think of Kiro’s flowers without possibly mentioning sunflowers?

The sunflower’s scientific name is called the Helianthus. It consists of two Greek words: Helios, the personification of the sun itself, and anthus, which means flower.

Sunflowers represent happiness and friendship; admiration, devotion, and longevity. They constantly face the sun, and, when it’s dark and the sun’s nowhere to be seen, sunflowers will face one another. In other words, they are each other’s sun. Quite fitting for Kiro, isn’t it?

Kiro’s sun is the love and acceptance he receives as Kiro himself - although he is also KEY and Helios, Kiro is most comfortable when he’s Kiro, and to be welcomed and loved by so many, especially MC, is what keeps his world spinning.

Yellow tulips

“This morning I’m going to tell the people I love, or just thank them for being who they are. Tell them they change my bitter hours into poems, and all the words we keep quiet about.” - Patrick Fiori, Les Gens Qu'on Aime

While yellow tulips used to symbolise jealousy and an unrequited love, these days they have much sunnier meanings - symbolising hope, and happy thoughts. In Korean flower language (꽃말,kkochmal), tulips can also be used as a confession of eternal love.

Yellow tulips can also be used to tell someone that there’s a sunshine in their smile!

Daisies

“In the morning when I wake, and the sun is coming through, oh you fill my head with sweetness, and you fill my head with you.” - The Paper Kites, Bloom

I can imagine Kiro gifting his Miss Chips daisies, as children and as grown-ups.

Daisy is April’s birth flower. Due to the fact that a daisy is actually two flowers in one, they symbolise true love and unity. They also represent childish innocence, purity, fertility, and new beginnings. They are perfect gifts for new mothers, or innocent children, exchanging daisies with shy, puppy-love smiles on their faces.

However, these flowers have a bitter side to them as well.

Daisies are also laid upon a young child’s grave by the Gods; Celtic people believe that this will help the grieving parents, so I think, personally, that they can also signify a lost childhood. Daisies also symbolise hidden secrets, or the I-won’t-tells Kiro hides from MC, whether it was regarding his unhappiness or his identities. Daisies are also commonly featured in many Kiro karmas, such as the one used in this post :)

Daffodils

“You took my broken melody, and now I hear a symphony.” - Cody Fry, I Hear A Symphony

Daffodils are one of my absolute favourites. Being March’s birth flower, they are also known as the Narcissus. It’s the genera of flowers they belong in! They are known for their captivating scents and an innocent, delicate look.

Why are they called narcissus? It’s because of a man in Greek mythology, called Narcissu. He was a hunter who’s almost as beautiful as Kiro, and, being blessed with an angel’s face, he was also vain and narcissistic (I believe this is the origin of the word narcissism, actually).

A water nymph fell for him, but he was so in love with himself that she was heartbroken, cursing him with a spell. He became so enraptured with his own reflection on the waters he couldn’t do anything else. When he died from his vanity, a pretty flower blossomed where he laid, hence the name!

Daffodils have beautiful meanings for such petite flowers. They symbolise new beginnings (they are one of the first flowers to bloom in spring), chivalry, hope, unequalled love, and you can use them to tell someone that the sun is always brighter when you’re with them.

In flower language, daffodils are used to say: “Stay as sweet as you are now.”

Baby’s breath

“With golden strings, our universe was clothed in light. Pulling at the seams, our once barren world now brims with life.” - Sleeping At Last, Sun

Befitting of their adorable name, baby’s breaths are one of the tiniest flowers out there. As such, they are easily incorporated in all sorts of bouquets, from weddings to a simple gift you gift to someone you adore.

In flower language, baby’s breath represents sincerity, compassion, everlasting love, innocence, and romance. A baby’s breath bouquet are gifted to show your devotion to someone, or to display affection. With their light, gentle look, it can also be used to describe a mesmerised person, absolutely enchanted in love.

Baby’s breath bouquets can also be used to tell someone you’d like to spend a million days or the rest of eternity loving and cherishing them. It reminds me of Kiro so much; I think he’ll definitely gift MC a bouquet like this, on days when she least expects it.

White roses

“When we woke up the world was figured out, beyond the beauty we’ve dreamt about. This brilliant light is brighter than we’ve known, without our darkness to prove it so.” - Sleeping At Last, You Are Enough

White roses are used to symbolise innocence and purity. Very much like daisies, white roses are often used in a young person’s funeral, and they also symbolise secrecy and silence.

They can also be used to say, “I am worthy of you,” or “You are so heavenly.” It’ll be very meaningful of PaperGames if there’s a Kiro karma or CG with Kiro gifting MC a bouquet of white roses; Kiro has always been thinking that someone like him isn’t worthy of anyone or anything. Gifting MC white roses can be his way of telling her he finally realised that he is worthy of so many beautiful things, like her.

There might already be a karma like that, though I might’ve missed it, since I don’t actually play the game. Do let me know if you can think of any! I’d love to see it.

[END]

Hope you liked the post! There are so many flowers to describe Kiro’s sunny and lovable personality that it was difficult to pick which I should include in this post. But I’ve chosen the ones with the most wondrous meanings (though white camellias should be an honorary mention).

Again, I wish you a brilliant day! Stay safe and take your time to see the little beautiful things all around you.

(And if you have not noticed this already, I used lyrics instead of quotes as a nice little touch for Kiro :)

MLQC Mini Garden Series: Gavin

A character-study-headcanon series where I diagnose MLQC characters with plants and a bit of poetry. Part two.

Karma CGby@acrispyapple

Other parts of the series: Lucien/Kiro/Victor

Forget-me-nots

“Dreams of my love, like a tense crowd. But still heart beats the longings’ sound, and catches bits of dreams around.” - Alexander Pushkin, Awakening

Forget-me-nots are commonly referenced in fiction. Their meaning’s written in the name: you gift this flower to someone you’d hate for time to lose.

The origin of its name however is rather silly - The Greek God of Gods, Zeus, was naming every flower in the world. When he thought that he’d named them all, a little blue blossom screamed, “Forget me not!” And Zeus decided to name it just that.

Forget-me-nots also represent true love and wondrous memories; that’s all Gavin wishes for with her. It’s what he strives to create, that ideal future.

Lily of the valley

“You will keep me safe. And you will keep me close. And rain will make the flowers grow.” - Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

Lily of the valley are darling little woodland flowers which represent the month of May. They symbolise a return to happiness, which can also be interpreted as new beginnings and joy. They’re also viewed as symbols of humility and rebirth in Germanic mythology. One legend tells the tale of a lily of the valley who fell in love with the nightingale’s song, and so it only bloomed when the nightingale’s around.

This flower is mentioned in religious writings and mythologies all around the world. It is under the protection of the son of Goddess Maia in ancient astrology, Hermes in Greek mythology, and Mercury in Roman mythology. It can be used to say, “You’ve made my life complete.”

Considering the fact that Gavin’s childhood was hardly ever a joyous one, seeing the person who’d saved his life and brought him his wings must’ve been his return to happiness; a silver thread within dark, stormy clouds.

Windflowers

“Everything was of others and of no one, until your beauty and your poverty filled the autumn with gifts.” - Pablo Neruda, Love Sonnet XXV

Windflowers, otherwise known as anemones, have several profound meanings. It’s used to symbolise the end of cold, dark days, the return of the sun, and protection. The name itself means ‘daughter of the wind’.

As they are commonly found in the wild, windflowers also serve as a reminder to enjoy the present; to love what you have and see the light in your path. To seize every opportunity and do your best. In Greek mythology, anemones symbolise either the winds of spring or the loss of a loved one. It can also indicate an abandoned love.

This flower describes the relationships Gavin built with the people around him - his father, for abandoning him as a child. His mother, whom he’d lost, and for MC, who’s the light at the end of his tunnel; the spring breezes swaying his world awake.

Gingko tree

“On the path in the desolate field, the shadows overlapped, and parted.” -Sugita Hisajo

Possibly one of my favourite trees! A little scientific fact about Gingko trees: they have no known living relatives and the species has endured little if any change for millions of years. There aren’t any trees genetically similar to them.

Gingko tree symbolise hope and peace in Chinese art and literature. In Japan however, they are a symbol of vitality, and endurance. After the Hiroshima bombing in 1945, six Gingko trees remained alive on the island, and have since then completely recovered from the event.

Gingko trees also symbolise longevity, for they can live up to 3000 years. It’s no wonder the game developers chose this plant to represent Gavin; it fits him so well, does it not?

Black-eyed Susan

“What is dark within me, illumine.” - John Milton, Paradise Lost

Do these flowers remind you of sunflowers? It’s because they come from the same family of flowers, called the Asteraceae. Black-eyed Susans are perennial wildflowers, and they represent justice (and if I remember correctly, unity, if paired with another kind of flower).

I don’t think there needs to be any long explanations as to why this flower reminds me of Gavin - he’s the most justice-oriented love interest in the entire game.

Bamboo

“I’d never seen the sky when always there was you. Sincerely,” - Keith S. Wilson, Heliocentric

Bamboos! Like coconut trees, not one part of a bamboo plant is useless. They are also known for being one of the fastest growing plants - there’s a brutal execution involving bamboos, in fact, because of how fast the shoot can grow in a few days’ time.

There’s a folklore told to schoolchildren in Malaysia, about a young man falling asleep on a bamboo grove. In his sleep he dreamt of a beautiful woman, and upon waking up, he broke the stem of a bamboo shoot out of instinct. The beautiful woman was hidden inside, and together, they lived happily ever after.

Bamboos are a symbol of strength and resilience, flexibility and grace. To quote Ernest Hemingway, “Courage is grace under pressure.” I believe this fits Gavin very well. One look and you might not find grace to be a good word to describe this man, but it’s hidden somewhere inside, only revealing itself in the most turbulent of trials.

[END]

Finding plants fitting for Gavin was certainly really fun! He’s such a great character to write about and there are definitely many more to say about him, but I hope the six plants did him justice.

Enjoying the series so far? Leave your thoughts in the comments below! I’m always happy to receive feedback. Thank you for your time and support :)

Have a brilliant Monday, stay safe!

MBTI & Enneagram Analysis #4: Kiro Zhou

Kiro//キラ//周棋洛//주기락

2w3 ENFP: The Champion / The Host

Before we begin:

This post is based off of my previous analysis, but perhaps a bit boiled down and more informative. I am not a psychologist, but I’ve studied MBTI for the past two years now.

I won’t show bias towards any personality type or character, as that’ll just make it inaccurate. These are just my opinions presented, and if you disagree, it’s a-okay.

Lastly, I’d like to say that we will be focusing on MBTI and Enneagrams. MBTI as in functions, instead of the popular eight-letter typing, as that is often very inaccurate. Anyone with any MBTI type can be sorted into any Enneagram type. MBTI focuses on thought process, Enneagrams focus on desires, motivators and fears. That’s all there is to it. Any type can be compatible with any other type. We live in a very diverse society.

Also, Kiro was the most difficult to type out of all of the main love interests. It is due to the fact that he isn’t really Kiro, nor is he Helios, or KEY; he is a mixture of all three very different personas. My head ached thinking of one possible way to write this properly, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I should type him as Kiro, because that’s the side he in which he loves himself the most. Where he feels the most comfortable.

MBTI Type: ENFP

Function Stack: Ne, Fi, Te, Si

How the functions relate to Kiro:

Ne: With Ne as a primary function, ENXPs are often known as very creative individuals. Ne is the function of ideas and possibilities, and users of this function tends to share these ideas artistically, such as with music, drawing, dancing, etc. Their mind is like a big mindmap, there really isn’t an end to it, and so some Ne users can also be rather indecisive at times. Ne reminds me of a firework show.

Fi: Fi is the function of authenticity. Fi users have their own unspoken list of values and principles in which they follow closely. Their feelings are focused internally - not to say that they are selfish however, they are just more knowledgeable of their own feelings, and use this to sympathise with other people as well. If Fe is to absorb emotions, Fi is to mirror. Users of this function are also sensitive, but stubborn. They want to stay true to themselves, and be true to the ones around them.

Te: As Te is an ENFP’s tertiary function, it typically means an ENFP may be less comfortable using it. This may lead them, along with other Perceiving types, to habitually defer to others’ wishes rather than asserting their own. And since ENFPs have independent minds, they can grow resentful of those who try to control them. However, ENFPs can be assertive and confident with the development of this function.

Si: ENFPs may express this function by comparing the things they are experiencing at the moment to past experiences. In doing so, they are often able to call to mind memories, feelings, and senses that they associate with those events. Interestingly, Si, though the direct opposite of Ne, completes the latter function perfectly. But when upset, an EN×P may be absorbed in the negative emotions of the past.

Why ENFP?

Kiro is a complex character with what appears to be a sunny disposition. Ignoring his other personas, Kiro is, at the very core of his personality, a person who wants to be validated and loved for being himself. This is a trait found in many ×NFPs.

He is the most authentic when he is with MC, because he knows she will accept him for whoever he is. So, from that perspective, we can see that Kiro is playful, filled with possibilities, creative, and full of love. Additionally, he is also the most imaginative of the five MLQC love interests - he is also the only primary Ne user, which definitely makes him stand out.

Childhood

I believe Kiro’s personality (Enneagram type, specifically) was partly developed due to the fact that, as a child, he was deprived of love. He was an autistic child, a musical savant, abandoned in an orphanage. He had no one to rely on, only music to keep him company. Then there was BS, and KEY, this all leads him to crave for the one thing he can’t really have: the love and acceptance from other people.

He is a person full of love with no one to give the love to. He understands loneliness - it is why he chooses to be a sunshine figure to those around him. Because if loneliness had hurt him so much, he’d hate for anyone else to feel it as well.

We can also see his fear of losing the ones he love from how he can get protective of MC. She is the only person left from his childhood whom he can rely on. I believe he really is one of the more complex characters in the digital-gaming world.

Other examples of ENFPs:

  • Peter Parker (Marvel’s Cinematic Universe)
  • Howl (Howl’s Moving Castle)
  • Anna (Frozen)
  • Taehyung “V” (BTS)
  • Sayori (Doki Doki Literature Club)
  • Tom Holland (Actor)
  • Kaori Miyazono (Your Lie In April)
  • Oscar Wilde (Writer)
  • Nejire Hado (My Hero Academia)
  • Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna (Anastasia)
  • Kiki (Kiki’s Delivery Service)

Enneagram Type?

Most likely 2w3.

2w3, or the hosts, have the basic desire to be loved and accepted. They have the tendency to seek acceptance and/with accomplishments, and they often repress their own negative emotions, in fear of being judged or disliked. They fear being unwanted or worthless, and will usually avoid this by building relationships and meet the needs of the people in their community. They are motivated by serving others, and knowing that they are loved.

As I’m not as confident typing other people’s Enneagram types, please take this section with a grain of salt.

Concluding statement?

Kiro is a 2w3 ENFP who is loving, upbeat, and passionate of the well-beings of the ones he cares about. His character can certainly be flawed, burdened with insecurities, fears, and repressed loneliness and negative emotions, but I believe MC can be the person he opens up to. He is the person to make you smile, laugh, and go on crazy adventures with him - just make sure that, while he’s taking care of the happiness of the ones around him, he is taking care of his own mental needs as well.

MBTI & Enneagram Analysis #3: Gavin Bai

Gavin//白起//ハク//백기

8w9 ISTP: The Virtuoso / Diplomat

If you do not understand functions, or would like to know more of them, click the link here.

MBTI Type: ISTP

Function Stack: Ti, Se, Ni, Fe

How the functions relate to Gavin:

Ti: Ti users relies on an internal logical framework instead of any external structures and systems. They make decisions based on the logic that’s been building up in their heads based off of experiences, and their own reasonings. It may be hard to understand them at times because of this.

Se: With Se as a secondary function, ISTPs are alert of their sensory surroundings, aware of current trends, and have quick reflexes. As Se is the function of the present, users of this function are the type to be more present-oriented than anything, and therefore make amazing athletes. You can see this in Gavin: the way he’s constantly acknowledging what’s happening all around him in a very much chaotic work environment, how he’s talented in sports, and how his literal EVOL is wind control - the only physically sensory EVOL out of the four main love interests.

Ni: Ni is Gavin’s tertiary function, and with Ti, this allows him to deduct and solve problems in all areas of his mind, and look for similarities and patterns in every information gathered. This function appears most often when Gavin is working, and Ni is what makes him such a good detective.

Fe: With Fe as his inferior type, Gavin will have an inherent wish to do good to society, or the community around him. However, on the glass half empty side of things, this may also make ISTPs have difficulty in expressing their true feelings, or to be aware of and handle other people’s emotions, because Fe is their last function (Making it the least used!)

Why ISTP?

Gavin is almost the textbook fictional ISTP. He is inherently good, lawful, and just (In the original world), and is also quick to observe, make deductions, and come to often accurate conclusions. I cannot think of any other type that fits him.

He is also the only sensory within the four main love interests - this makes him sort of stand out, if you look at it from a certain perspective. Gavin is down-to-earth, and his words, compared to an intuitive, are simple and easily comprehensible (Compare Lucien’s Weibo to Gavin’s, you’ll know). He isn’t one to use big metaphors, he’s one to be straightforward, and that makes him more reliable to players as they do not have to guess and look between the branches for a flower.

Childhood

Gavin was deemed as a useless child right as his father realised he did not have an EVOL. He only had his mother to rely on, until she died in a fire when he was fourteen. He blames himself on her death, for not having the ability to save her.

I do believe personality types, in some cases, can develop due to the upbringing of a certain person, and forces itself to remain there (Lucien with Ni/Ti loop, for example). It may be highly inaccurate, but the Se function in Gavin is a function that may have been there because of his difficult childhood.

Think of it this way: He was threw away a useless child, he still had to protect his mother, and himself. He was seen as a delinquent, but was bullied severely. What else could he have thought of other than the present? He could not focus on anything else, couldn’t allow other functions to properly develop. That’s the Gavin you might recognise from the alternate world.

Other Examples of ISTPS:

  • Ishida Shōya (A Silent Voice)
  • Aizawa Shōta (My Hero Acadamia)
  • Iwaizumi Hajime (Haikyuu!)
  • Tachibana Taki (Kimi No Nawa)
  • Vladimir Putin (Politician)
  • Magnus Carlsen (Chess Grandmaster)
  • Kobe Bryant (Basketball Player)
  • Tom Cruise (Celebrity Actor)
  • Bruce Lee (Celebrity Actor)
  • Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games)

Enneagram type?

Most likely 8w9.

8w9, or the diplomats, are usually fiercely independent, confident, and likes to be in control of the situation at hand. However, they are also caring to their loved ones and they take note to contribute and care for their community as well. They often struggle with expressing their emotions, and fear losing their leadership, and being hurt by others. For this, they might build walls around themselves to guard other people out, because vulnerability is a weakness to them.

As I’m not as confident with typing people’s enneagram types, please take this section with a grain of salt.

Concluding Statement?

Gavin is an 8w9 ISTP who is willing to dedicate his life to MC and protect her at all costs. If I’m not wrong, he is the most popular character in the English server in a few polls so far, and it’s no wonder why - he acts as a source of stability for the players, in contrast to the whirlwind that’s the main story. He offers safety and trust, and we all need a character like that. I think him and MC can teach one another how to be stronger in different aspects, and I’m excited to see more of him.

MBTI & Enneagram Analysis #2: Lucien Xu

Lucien//许墨//シモン//허묵

5w6 INFJ (Ni/Ti Loop): The Counselor / Troubleshooter

Before we begin:

This post is largely based off of my previous analysis, but perhaps a bit boiled down and more informative.

If you do not understand functions, and would like to know more of them, click the linkhere.

Misunderstandings

Now I know what’s on some of your minds as of now: Why is Lucien a feeler? Why isn’t he a thinker instead?

This is merely my opinion, but I’ve seen Lucien being typed as an INTJ, ENTJ, and an INTP. Those do seem credible, but upon further research, they just do not make sense. Let’s explain why.

ENTJ/INTJ has Te as a primary/second function. Te is when you rely logically on external structures and systems. Lucien’s thinking is unconventional, and his logic is built internally. We also see him having the ability to find commonalities in seemingly unrelated things (Ti.) Also, Lucien is definitely not an extrovert.

INTP. Though it has Ti as a primary function, Ne is its secondary function, and Ne is all about the vast array of ideas and possibilities. Lucien however, has Ni because he solely focus on one goal, and is highly unlikely to be indecisive of his actions. He perceives the world internally. (Ni)

MBTIType: INFJ

Function Stack: Ni, Fe, Ti, Se

How the functions relate to Lucien:

Ni:Introverted intuition remains a bit of a mystery, and so are the users who have it as their primary function. Ni is to connect every observation in an internal mindmap of ideas and concepts, and subconsciously, your mind will come up with a conclusion. A ‘eureka!’ moment of sorts that some may call psychic. Ni users are very future oriented. They tend to focus on a single goal and will do anything to achieve it. They also have high expectations on themselves, or others. Ni users tend to be excellent with observing patterns on a larger scale, and they make great scientists and researchers because of that.

Fe: Fe users tend to focus on the emotions and feelings of the ones around them instead of their own. They are highly empathetic, and often do not know their own feelings as much as they do the others. Paired with Ni, they can “absorb” the emotions of the people around them. They can pick up on the atmosphere of a room very quickly, and so they tend to be great with being counselors, psychologists, teachers, or social work. They are also good with children. We can see this in Lucien in the way he tends to mirror the emotions of the people around him, or how he wants to fit in at timess. Fe users can also be manipulative.

Ti: Ti users think unconventionally. They have their own internal logical framework, which may confuse other people at times. They are intelligent, and they tend to not care as much about the rules and norms in the society’s around them. Lucien is a Ti user because 1) Not many people genuinely understand what and how he’s thinking most of the time, and 2) His principles are more than unconventional. (Look at his thoughts on an advanced humanity. Safe to say it’s more than controversial, but it still makes sense.)

Se:Se users focus on the present. With this as the inferior function, INXJs tend to not be focused in the present, and instead they have their nose stuck in the future. However, Se can (and needs) to be developed in order for a person to be healthy mentally. Se reveals itself when an Ni dominant type is feeling negative. They might be impulsive (suddenly disappearing somewhere or binge eating, or being emotionally detached to some people,) and sometimes to a very unhealthy degree, they might be self destructive, especially since they have such high expectations on themselves.

Why INFJ?

Lucien is not your typical INFJ, because he’s an unhealthy one (I’ll explain later). However, we see him exhibiting traits of an INFJ frequently: He’s very good with reading the emotions of others, he’s great with coming to accurate conclusions, he has high expectations on lots of things, he’s good with giving advices to others, not good with giving himself advices. He rarely takes care of himself. (An underdeveloped Se, I suspect).

INFJs, like all the other types, isn’t just a type where everyone fits into a single stereotype. It is merely a way of thought, and every INFJ (and all other types) is different. Feelers don’t just solely focus on emotions, thinkers aren’t emotionally dumb. Lucien is an INFJ that’s just much more logical than your average (already quite logical) INFJ. And there’s an explanation to that, too.

Ni/Ti Loop: What is that?

Ni/Ti Loop is when an INFJ disregards their extraverted functions (Fe and Se) and surrenders themselves into a cycle of Ni and Ti. This is bad, as all functions are needed for a person to be mentally healthy.

We see this in Lucien through how he’s often distancing himself from everyone else, how he’s emotionally detached to even himself, and how he is critical, cold and analytical, especially when he’s Ares. This loop often leads to nowhere, but is a way for some to cope with trauma.

Here’s a thing: We’ve seen Lucien use Fe many times. But there’s this one time that I’d like to focus on. In one of the Rumours and Secrets, we’re told that although Lucien’s parents were busy, they were loving all the same. So he’s born into a healthy environment.

Lucien displayed Fe when he first went to school. He saw the other children playing football, and decided to try it himself. So he asked his father to play football with him, to his father’s surprise. He never wanted to give up finding the fun in it, although it’s just not something he likes. (Fe.) That’s his emotional want to fit in with his peers. We also see this in later chapters, where he asked himself 'Is this something that will make MC happy?’ when he’s making decisions.

Then his parents and his whole life was taken away from him. This leads him to a cycle of being in unfamiliar places, being abused, without anyone he could trust. So he coped by distancing himself from everyone, and being critical and analytical, wanting to shut his feelings so they won’t be hurt again. (Ni/Ti Loop.)

I hope you understand the Ni/Ti Loop and Lucien’s Fe now. His whole character arc is literally him developing his Fe.

Other Examples of INFJs:

  • Plato (Philosopher)
  • Kim NamJoon (Celebrity)
  • Adolf Hitler (Historical Figure)
  • Martin Luther King Jr. (Historical Figure)
  • Carl Jung (Psychologist and Neuroscientist)
  • Loki (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
  • Norman (Promised Neverland)
  • Sugawara Kōshi (Haikyuu)
  • Armin Arlert (Attack On Titan)
  • Grisha Yeager (Attack On Titan)
  • Midoriya Izuku (My Hero Acadamia)

Enneagram Type?

Most likely 5w6.

People with 5w6 fears being incompetent or useless, they seek to improve the world in order to feel worthy. They are motivated by knowledge, and are hardworking and analytical. Their basic desire is to be competent and useful, and they have a tendency to withdraw from others when they are stressed, which leads to them feeling lonely. They’re often very intelligent and calm.

As I’m not as confident with typing people’s enneagram types, please take this section with a grain of salt.

Concluding Statement:

Lucien is a 5w6 INFJ. At the start of the game (Chapter 1-25), we see him in a Ni-Ti Loop. However, over the course of the game, he’s learned to open himself up, and to focus on the present and the people around him a little more. Him and MC builds each other up. They place their trust on one another, even if their morals and values are very much different. He lets MC grow on her own, being only a guidance from a short distance away. He’s waiting for the day MC will catch up to him, and for that, he’ll keep walking towards the light.

MBTI & Enneagram Analysis #1: Victor Li

Victor//李泽言//ゼン//이택언

1w9 ENTJ : The Commander / Optimist

Before We Begin:

This post is largely based off of my previous analysis, but perhaps a bit boiled down, with their Enneagram type and more informative. I am not a psychologist, but I’ve studied MBTI for the past two years now.

I won’t show bias towards any personality type or character, as that’ll just make it inaccurate. These are just my opinions presented, and if you disagree, it’s a-okay.

If you do not understand functions, and would like to know more of them, click the link here.

MBTI Type: ENTJ

Function stack: Te, Ni, Se, Fi

How the functions relate to Victor:

Te: Te users thrive on external structures and systems. With Te as his primary function, Victor is unbiased and logical, straightforward if need be, honest, and lawful. This function makes him particularly gifted in a study that requires many theories and formulae, like say, mathematics, accounting, or business. Te is also an intimidating function, some might say, because users of this function tend to be strict/likes control. Users of this function is very organised and is most likely quite intelligent academically.

Ni: With Ni as a secondary function supporting Te, this also makes Victor a rather observant man. Ni users create patterns and connect dots unconsciously. We can see this when Victor starts to notice and observe MC and her behaviours - how he knows how she’ll act, and what she’ll say next, which he often uses to tease her. Ni users are also future oriented, and will dedicate themselves fully to a goal, and they usually have a love for art.

Se: Se is his tertiary function, which is to say he does not use it as often at all, unless he is an unhealthy ENTJ (Which he isn’t,) or if he’s developed this function (Which he does!). Victor does a few activities that can develop Se. Cooking is a great example of that. Other than cooking and some occasional sports, Victor doesn’t use Se much. He’s more future oriented (Ni).

Fi: Fi as an inferior function means that if not developed and left ignored, a person with a dominant Te function may become an unhealthy form of Fi under immense stress or any negative emotions. This can lead to a person being be out of touch with themselves, and be painfully by-the-book and rigid when dealing with people. Or have petty, bigoted behavior towards anyone who threatens their worldview.

Why ENTJ?

Victor is your textbook definition example of a healthy ENTJ - really, you don’t have to look any further for a better example. He’s strict, observant, intelligent, dilligent, wealthy, a writer of his own success story. He’s gifted in business, and lastly, he radiates big daddy energy. (That’s sort of a requirement to type a fictional ENTJ these days.)

However strict, cold, and demanding he may appear to be, he’s actually a romantic at heart. A person who cares tremendously for the people who matter to him and someone who’s reliable, and protective. He appears to be rude, and his words are harsh, but he only said them because he wants MC to be better and he wants to help. He doesn’t realise, nor does he truly and fully understand that MC is a sensitive person who may not be able to take in his words without getting upset. Victor is future oriented, sets high expectations towards himself and everyone else. And those are the defining traits of an ENTJ.

Upbringings

Out of all of the four original MLQC guys, Victor had the most “normal” childhood. He grew up in a wealthy, loving household with his parents. Though there were a few incidents along the way, he had the opportunity to grow into his own character - rather than to be forced into a mindset or a trait, or to be taught to act a certain way, Victor was given the time to develop on his own.

Out of all the characters in the game, Victor seems to be the only one out of the four who does not go through any drastic changes because of MC. (Gavin would’ve been violent without her, Lucien would’ve been ruthless, Kiro would’ve never been experimented on with MC.) Victor has always been Victor. His personality would’ve been the same even if MC is not in his life (This isn’t me trying to say that his role in MLQC is useless, because it truly isn’t), but because MC is in his life, he’s found someone he can cherish and hold onto. This is proven by the fact that Victor still acts very similarly in the world without MC, while the others.. well.

Other Examples of ENTJs:

  • Simon Cowell (Celebrity)
  • Gordon Ramsay (Celebrity Chef)
  • Steve Jobs (Entrepreneur)
  • Bill Gates (Entrepreneur)
  • Napoleon Bonaparte (Historical Figure)
  • Christian Grey (Fifty Shades of Grey)
  • Shang (Mulan)
  • Irene Adler (Sherlock Holmes)
  • Erwin Smith (Attack On Titan)
  • Bakugou Katsuki (My Hero Acadamia)
  • Voldemort (Harry Potter)

Enneagram Type?

Most likely 1w9.

1w9s have the basic fear of being unethical or corrupted. They are typically rational, calm, judicial and perfectionistic, and are also emotionally reserved compared to other Enneagrams, as they fear this may cause them to make the wrong decision. Their basic desire is to be moral and virtuous, and when they’re stressed, tend to push themselves to work even more as a defense mechanism.

As I’m not as confident with typing people’s enneagram types, please take this section with a grain of salt.

(UPDATE: Victor was previously typed as an 8w9, however, after a few discussions and researches, I’ve retyped him as a 1w9 instead.)

Concluding Statement?

Victor is a healthy 1w9 ENTJ, and, with MC by his side, they make a couple who’ll support one another in different (but similar) ways. MC will be there to let down his guard and let him take the small baby steps to being vulnerable and expressing his emotions, and Victor will build MC up with constant support and helpful criticisms. He’ll travel worlds for her, stop time for her, and she’ll stand right by his side. All in all, they make an amazing power couple.
