I really like the treasure token mechanic in Ixalan, the latest expansion for Magic: the Gathering, and I decided to design some custom tokens to keep track of the number of treasures collected in games in true pirate style.
These little chests fit a standard 16 mm (5/8 inch) d6 die. These are printed in nylon at Shapeways to be able to get all the little details. I designed them to print in one piece, including the integrated hinge, so no assembly required. The lid snaps shut at the front. In case you need to keep track of more than six treasure tokens, I also made a double sized chest.
I hand painted this print with acrylics to make it look more like a ‘real’ treasure chest. I am not much of a miniature painter, so it took a while, but I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Maybe there will be double-faced creatures that can turn into mounts – dinosaurs and/or horses, for example. The flavor would be somewhere between vehicles and bestow creatures, but I think the mount would have to be a creature in both forms…
