St. Louis, MO April 16th, 2016…by DH

For those of you who actually read our blog and not just look at the photos, we have a story we would like to tell you.  In case you are wondering “who is Beth?” and why are we telling you a story about her?   Well, because of Beth, this happened!

image

Here’s why…This brave, beautiful, wonderfully sweet and generous woman that we met 4 years ago at the Ryman, has Glioblastoma multiforme stage 4, a.k.a. terminal brain cancer. (I told you the Ryman and Nashville holds all kinds of nostalgia for the Sisters.)  Through a special foundation, Beth got to fulfill her wish, which was to meet Mumford and Sons.  This was to take place in December of 2015, but they were home in the UK for the holidays so Marcus, Ben and Ted skyped with her instead.  When they found out she had tickets to the show in St. Louis, Marcus said he would get her backstage to meet the band.  They were true to their word!  The boys were phenomenal!  Winston entered the room, introduced himself…lol as if none of us knew who he was, and kissed Beth on each cheek, just as a polite English Gentlemen would!

They gave Beth their undivided attention while she presented them with grey ribbon pins in support of brain cancer. They are called “Grey Matters”.  Get it? Grey Matter…Brain…anyway…

image

The boys were so generous with their time and never acted as if they were in a hurry to leave or needed to be doing anything else besides just this!  They chatted with each of us and appeared to be genuinely interested in all we had to say.  After hugs all around and a group photo, and all too soon, it came time for the boys to leave and get ready for the show.  We were taken back to the lobby where we all basically stared at each other as if…”Did that really just happen?” Yes mam, it just did!

image

Just so you know how supportive these wonderful gentlemen of Mumford and Sons are, they actually wore Beth’s pins during the show.  We didn’t get pictures of each of them but we did get them of Ben wearing it on his sleeve cuff and Marcus wearing it on his vest.

After we took our seats that the boys management had upgraded for Beth, we prepared ourselves for an emotional show!  Emotions were running high and tears were flowing freely and it was one of the best shows I have ever attended.  The boys were in top form and so was the crowd!

speaking of the Crowd…BJ’s sister was spotted front and center in this pic….

As with all of Mumford and Sons gigs, it was over all too soon and AS and I had to say goodbye to our wonderful friends, JP, BE and BS…The night might be at an end but the memories will forever remain!

I can’t read your mind though I’m trying all the time
There’s something I don’t know, I can see it in your eyes
And as the night descends, it’s always slow again
But I am left in awe of the woman I adore

Ho Hey - The Lumineers

“Ho Hey” is the first single and music video by the American indie folk band, The Lumineers. This video was directed by Ben Fee, who really creates a wonderful rustic and slightly nostalgic feel to accompany the soulful lyrics. This song reminds me a lot of “Little Talks” by Of Monsters And Men combined with the moving vocals of Mumford and Sons. “Ho Hey” is one of those typical repeat songs, that you cannot just listen to once. A friend of mine sent me this amazing track this morning, and it has literally been on repeat ever since.

I’ve been trying to do it right
I’ve been living a lonely life
I’ve been sleeping here instead
I’ve been sleeping in my bed,
I’ve been sleeping in my bed

So show me family
All the blood that I would bleed
I don’t know where I belong
I don’t know where I went wrong
But I can write a song

1,2,3 I belong with you, you belong with me you’re my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me you’re my sweet

I don’t think you’re right for him
Look at what it might have been if you
Took a bus to Chinatown
I’ve been standing on Canal
And Bowery
And she’d be standing next to me

1,2,3 I belong with you you belong with me you’re my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me you’re my sweetheart

And love, we need it now
Let’s hope for some
Cause oh, we’re bleeding out

I belong with you you belong with me you’re my sweetheart
I belong with you you belong with me you’re my sweet
