HEAR: Butch Trucks and The Allman Brothers Band
Drummer Butch Trucks passed away. Butch was one of the founding members of The Allman Brothers Band and he a big reason for the southern rock outfit’s big sound — two drummers.
Like a rhythm guitar fills in the sound, so did the big hard hitting Butch Trucks creating the big full sound of The Allman Brothers. Powerful.
HEAR: Rick James ‘Super Freak’
This song just makes me happy.
It is so right and yet not-so-much in so many ways.
Timeless? Not sure. It certainly defines a time, that is certain.
Innovative? Absolutely. Without Rick James, would there have been a MC Hammer et al?
