Oh, I’m not sure what I think of this since I still have the slightly serious version of the 80s series stuck in my head. Dax Shepard is his usual over the top self but there’s nothing really wrong with that. But Michael Pena makes this… though it seems sort of the same character he played in Antman. So be it.

HEAR: Tin Machine “One Shot”
Tin Machine was a David Bowie experienment that was generally not loved by some people but one that I did like. The harder edge sound just proved to me that Bowie could do and sing it all. The man had the ability to be musically relaevant in ever era that he explored. He didn’t wait for chance to come to him. He chased opportunity and caught it and sang the $4@# out of it.

It seems hard to put yourself into uncomfortable suituations for the sake of moving forward and doing what you want. But is there any other way? I don’t think so.
There was a part of me, for the longerst time, that believed ‘it’ should be easy.
‘It?’
‘It’ is all the things you want and think you deserve because you think you are good at something. But just because you have talent, doesn’t give you the right to be entitled. And ‘easy’ is not part of that package.
So try. Do. (Yoda only had it partcially right. You need the ‘try’ and the ‘do.’) It won’t be easy. And that’s a good thing.

If something doesn’t feel right… like when you leave the house and plop your keys in the wrong pocket or you’re walking around trying to remember if you turned off the ceiling fan in the bathroom… it might be that MTM is gone.
Whether you realize it or not, she was an important part of your life — from The Dick Van Dyke Show to the Mary Tyler Moore Show to MTM Enterprises and all the shows that she produced to Ordinary People to Juvenile Diabetes and animals and all the causes she supported… there is no doubt that she will be missed — just like how Lou and Murray and Ted were going to miss Mary Richards.
Something just doesn’t feel… right.
HEAR: Grace Vanderwaal ‘The A-Team’
Reality TV is what it is but there are some good things that can come from it.
Here’s one
Grace Vanderwaal was the winner of America’s Got Talent… a generally tacky though somewhat entertaining show giving people with what they think is talent a chance to show case what they think they can do.
But every once in a while, there is talent to be seen and heard.
And the minute amazing Grace took the stage, you knew that she was going to win the season. And she did.
Will she be the superstar of Taylor Swift-like proportions as Simon Cowell predicted? Possibly. I’m just glad to see and still hear that she is the real thing!

This movie starring Justin Long could be writtren off as just another semi-teenage-comedy-pseudo-sex romp (minus the sex.) Fluff might be another way to describe it. But I have never felt that way about this film.
Quite the opposite really — I have always been somewhat inspired by ‘Accepted.’ And this scene, as contrived as you might think it is, is represenative of the idea that you can look at the work differently to get the things you want and need.
As a matter fact, it is suggesting that you do have to tilt your head sideways a little to see things in a different light and to follow your dreams.
Mister Gaines is right. Do we have to conform to the world that is presented to us or can we create our own universe and mold it to the way we want to live?
I might not run off and start my own college tomorrow. But nothing is going to stop me from from making the changes I need to make today.

And it seems… heartbreaking.
I mean… sure… life seemed to work out for all but it seems like these two could have been made for each other.
Funny how life happens.
HEAR: Butch Trucks and The Allman Brothers Band
Drummer Butch Trucks passed away. Butch was one of the founding members of The Allman Brothers Band and he a big reason for the southern rock outfit’s big sound — two drummers.
Like a rhythm guitar fills in the sound, so did the big hard hitting Butch Trucks creating the big full sound of The Allman Brothers. Powerful.

Funny how some things go viral… even if they have been floating around the internet for while. But now people are beginning to share. I don’t know. Maybe this is just something that the world needs right nowe in the midst of Trump turmoil and whatnot.

You can’t help but melt a little as they look at each other and she tilts her head just a little to the side.
Too sweet?
Maybe.
But like I said, maybe this is just what the world needs right now.
HEAR: Nick Waterhouse ‘Holly’
I love discovering a new favourite artist and a new favourite song. And the winner this week is Nick Waterhouse.
Sometimes I get hung up trying to classify the music that I like to listen to… which is sad and a waste of your time and mine.
You like what you like and that’s all that matters.
There is something so uncool about this buy that he is ultimately very cool. A mix of jazz, lounge, r&b, soul and rock make up almost every song. Love the use of the stand up bass and the Hammond organ.
‘Holly’ is not his new album. He has an outstanding song he performs with Leon Bridges. But when I accidently happened upon “This is a Game,” I was hooked.
HEAR: Rick James ‘Super Freak’
This song just makes me happy.
It is so right and yet not-so-much in so many ways.
Timeless? Not sure. It certainly defines a time, that is certain.
Innovative? Absolutely. Without Rick James, would there have been a MC Hammer et al?
