Made by 5th grade a welcome fall Pepita Pesto Pasta.

Today I taught boiling + herb id class. For which I designed 4 stations to make different Pestos ( Basil, Kale , Spinach, nut + seed free), some of which was harvested in our greenhouse then i tasked them with also making perfectly al dente pasta - whole wheat, lentil and brown rice pasta (some adults can’t do this!), then garnish with items like heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and pepitas (pumpkin seeds) for our fall touch.

30 students, 45 minutes, 4 perfect pastas and Pestos. My greatest joy is them being so pleased and blown away with the flavors they can quickly and naturally create.

I also set up a pantry on my cart and ask them to “shop” for the correct items they need. 30 students now know they can make this dish start to finish on their own! Happy Monday and October my heart is always full doing this work!!
