medical history will always have my heart, but who can resist a bit of fashion history?? could have spent hours looking at these in the national museum of scotland today!

Really enjoyed the Ancient Egypt exhibit at the National Museum of Scotland today - loved this coffin in particular. It’s sad to think we’ll likely never know her real name. Hopefully she’s enjoying the afterlife anyway.

Hidden in plain sight …

Gold spray brooch of three enamelled flowers. The floral spray incorporates a tiny miniature portrait of King Charles I, set under a flat crystal at the centre of an enamelled rose. It is a fine example of trembler jewellery, which allows the flowers to move, or “tremble”, imitating the movement of natural flowers. c. 1650.
