Dragon age Origins/Oc sheet /no rb pls

Age: Harrowing: 21, fifth Blight: 22, Amaranthine/W.C: 23-24, Kirkwall (end) W.C: 28, Inquisition: 31-32

Backstory: Left the tower when she was 21 ( i like to HC that it’s been a year since her harrowing and Jowan’s plan)

Physical characteristics: She is 1,57, has a blue chin/mouth tattoo from when she lived in the circle. Voluminous black hair that used to be short, but it grew longer so it’s mostly braided (twins) now. Her left ear got a wound, then an infection from the darkspawns back in the deep roads so it got cut off (half). She also got three claw shaped scars across the face from the same excursion. Blighted deep roads. Blue is her favorite color.

On Family: She doesn’t remember about her family back in Denerim, all she knows is that she popped up at Kinloch hold when she was 4/5 yo, they said someone left a kid at the proximity and a templar found her and took her in. Her family then became the people in the Tower.

More characteristics/Tower: Since she grew up in the Tower, only leaving it for the first time to join the GW right after helping Jowan escape when she was 21, she leaned heavily on circle culture and rites, their secrets and humor. She was just another mage there. It was actually pretty hard to adapt to lots of things after she left. From a place that used to be her entire world to the actual world. “You can take a mage out of the circle but it’s hard to take the circle out of a mage.” Wynne’s words.

After leaving the Tower: Very overwhelmed but deeply curious, good listener and quite quiet. But always got herself/or found herself into the wildest stuff. She still remembers (between the bittersweet feelings) the sensation of seeing the very blue sky at Ostagar (despite the constant dread) she also felt the bubbling need to talk and fulfill her curiosity, and asked so so many questions, from King Cailan himself to Loghain, the soldiers, the man who was left on a ceil, the templars, the mages, the elves delivering messages and nurses. Simultaneously a fond and tainted memory.

Backpack: Loves colorful things, trinkets, gems, and is always carrying what she can. Herbs and bandages too. When she left the Circle she brought 38 copper coins she found in the basement, a stolen staff, the clothes of her body and a pillow from her new quarters that she never got to live in.

Specializations: She is primarily an arcane mage, then arcane warrior after the Brecillian Forest. Always loved spells that can affect large areas and entropy. The body is a curious thing and she was eager to learn about it. Books and all kinds of information. Not really good at any healing spells and isn’t into using her blood magic on others (because reasons) so she learns what she can about medicine, herbs, sutures etc. Despite some affinities she’s very much a ‘learn a bit of everything’ person, thinks that ‘how you use it is what matters and shapes you’. She witnessed blood magic for the first time when Jowan attempted to escape.

Contrary to popular belief (and actually very common and,, real), she barely uses blood magic outside area spells when she’s in the Deep Roads or swarmed by enemies. But she likes to read studies on it.

On Blood : Surana doesn’t have a single common healing spell. She is constantly studying, researching, and besides the traditional medicine/herbs and balms, she learned how to take care of the body with a bit of blood magic and entropy, but very few people trust it so she doesn’t really offer.

-She didn’t get the knowledge about blood magic at the RedCliff castle, it was a bit after. A mix of Desire, of longing for Wisdom, a need. No one was harmed but herself and her Pride.

-Surana is very unmovable, having opinions assimilated to her skills and the same immediately attributed to herself, a few years ago would make her snap, nowadays the only reaction available is a long stare as an invitation to ‘drop the subject’. (Thaer and Anders’ relationship on this topic was like chewing-on-bricks and it never went anywhere).

On Chantry: Thinks the chantry is full of nug shit, but can’t help but visit a few when passing by at her journey, not because of religious purposes, but because she likes to hear the chanty, it reminds her of when she was a kid back in the circle when she and Jowan would snuck out and pass by the small prayer room.

Religion: Very questioning, had lots of good and bad days in their own ways, but didn’t refuse blessings from the chantry ladies even if she didn’t believe in anything at the moment. Watched the templars and chantry sisters praying, listened to the Dalishs when she encountered them, the Great Oak and Wynne’s ’the world is full of wonders.’ Sometimes, when it was too quiet at the Tower she would stare at the carved Andraste’s statue and wonder if she was listening to her.

“Andraste was here to deliver the message.” Said the Spirit Guardian at the temple, and Surana hasn’t forgotten. She actually loves people’s faith and hopes, it fulfills her.

On becoming a Grey Warden: She had Lots of mixed feelings (mostly bc she didn’t had any choice, despite Jowan or not, and she /really/ didn’t want to stick around and find out what was her other option after helping Jowan), but none redirectly /purely/ at Duncan. Her only thought was how all of it was unfair. Escaping a possible death to land on another possible death, and then finding out that it’s actually a death sentence anyways.

On Jowan and Guilt: Feeling guilt at not feeling guilty after visiting Ostagar post battle. Crying at Andraste’s temple because she felt forgiven from the feelings of having failed Jowan, even knowing she didn’t. Surana’s feelings turning to 'failure ones’ aren’t because she helped Jowan, but how everything progressed after, to watch someone who was her childhood friend run from place to place trying to escape again and again.

When she passed by some farms she wondered if Jowan made it.

On living: Thaer calls herself selfish sometimes, and is a scholar at heart, even if the decisions semms dubious. And it only intensified with time.

-Helped a friend who needed to escape three times and would do it again, ( “a blood mage!”, “poisoned the alr”, the chantry board mission), the guilt feeling (of not feeling guilty ) of relief for being aliveat revisiting Ostagar, bargaining with a mage who wanted to keep his tainted blood research at the Keep, Pride, a dark ritual, a deal with a magister who allegedly started a blight.

-All this time she wanted others to survive, herself to survive, and survive she did. And would keep doing so.

Personality: She’s a patient person and very quiet. Bloodmage extraordinary and battlemage. She seems aloof and easy to smile and so caring, but too many walls happened after the blight, after the archdemon, after Jowan, after surviving but not really, Surana at the age of 28 is the warden commander, a bit of mystery, a closed book, melancholic, a tad more hardened. Not the same, always changing, still so very kind. The archdemon hunting alone sucker punched Surana and left her all weirded out for weeks after the end. Amaranthine was a mix of flashes of happiness and constant apprehension. Then the Mages/Templar war, then a hole in the sky.

She still enjoys collecting trinkets and taking care of her companions. Coping with loss, then making new friends again, being less than what she used and also more. Finding comfort in places where comfort can be found. Met Carver after he joined the GW and dragged him to her mini group. Found out by him about Anders and Justice too. Mixed feelings of relief and apprehension.

(Surana saw Anders and Carver (small glimpses at the Circle halls, then the army camp), but only became friends at respective events (Amaranthine and post-Hawke’s excursion))

Outfits: During the blight she wore a heavy plate armor, and occasionally a circle attire she brought with herself when she left (mostly to sleep at camp when she could). After Amaranthine, or when traveling she mostly wears the armor under her clothes, parts of it (chest/vambraces/legs). Likes colorful flowy dresses/skirts but havent had the chance to wear any in months, so she doesn’t bother.

Romance:Surana and Leliana shared a small moment back in the Blight journey, but decided to break it off and stay as friends. Surana hasn’t been in a relationship with anyone so far.

At the blight it was like something was constantly gnawing at Surana’s heart and squeezing it, then it was over and the knot softened leading to each of them following their own patch.

They never officially became a couple, even after the blight, after surviving, after a hole in the sky and Leliana becoming Divine (Surana actually cracked a smile at this), but they were always there, at the corner of each other’s minds.

[I have this picture of Surana’s quick visit to Val Royeaux, soft words, tentative (and calloused fingers ) brushing as if they were in their twenties once more, a rose bush on the porch, then a stolen kiss under the stairs before parting ways again with a promise to return again someday.]

On Dance: Keep thinking a lot about dance (thedas), formal ones, cultural ones, children’s dances, free styled, dances in the circle tower, at the hall then hidden in their quarters full of muffled laughter, dalishs, city elves, qunari, vashoth, dwarvens, human’s ones.

I also like to think about Thaer’s sense of humor, you have this very serious-scarred-face person (post-inquisition) telling you she once danced with the current Arishok back in the fifth blight and no one can’t tell for the love of their lives if she’s cracking a joke or not. (She is not).

Surana likes the idea of dancing, that’s the big thing. Sometimes she would catch herself skipping a bit around the halls back in the circle. And she craved it during her journey, a secret locked inside herself until Leliana mentioned Orlesian dances and it poured.

She danced at the camp (by herself or paired up) to bard songs, antivan’s steps, dwarven drunk hums, lonely forest waltzes, silent nights and a qunari hand engulfing hers while she twirled quietly, armor clanking around, a soon-to-be-king laughter, for a moment full of youthfulness, stuck in her brain.

Post-Amaranthine/Middle-Post Inquisition: During Kirkwall Surana was mostly by herself, Nathaniel for a while, or with a random group. After Carver became a Grey Warden they got introduced, and Surana requested partnership with him.

-(They actually got along well, after tons of internal wall breaking, and most of their travels occurred after Kirkwall/ during the Inquisition time when Aveline took Carver away from the false calling, and Surana took him and a few GW far away with her).

-The journey included trying to help people affected by current events, hiding their identities, passing by villages, farms, doing a bunch of side jobs, sleeping in the middle of hallas, at stables, working at farms, gathering information, doing her research on magic and the calling. They went separately too, and she traveled with her Mabariduring this period.
