#ofmd fanfic

LIVE

I need to focus on work but actually I’m just watching the stats of my new Our Flag Means Death fanfiction because I absolutely ADORE THIS SHOW RIGHT NOW.
Myfanfic masterpost has been updated for it. But here:
Revenge, Blackbonnet, Mature, 5k words. Summary: “Remember he just beat us down? Just- just ground us down into nothing?” - “Oh, I remember. I was there. He treated us like dogs. Worse than dogs!” AO3||FFN
Surrender, Blackbonnet. Teen. 2k words. Summary: “Surrender.” Stede’s words were even and firm. He was at the helm facing Blackbeard. Their swords were unsheathed but only half-raised, as though neither of them could really threaten each other. AO3||FFN

I also wrote this bedsharing/nightmares ficlet on Tumblr that’ll probably be slipped into a larger OFMD fic somewhere down the line. I’m slightly obsessed with the concepts in the last 2 paragraphs.

Revenge in particular has been soooo much fun posting and replying to comments. The thrill of posting feels like back in 2012ish when I started posting SPN fic for the first time. This is so much fun. Looking forward to making gifs and pushing the #RenewOurFlagMeansDeath campaign on Twitter as much as possible.
The ship name has gone through a few variations - Stedward, Gentlebeard; I’ve landed on Blackbonnet though, because I like the ‘dark flower’ vibes it’s got and also its ao3 tumblr feed is up and running.
I’m also just so appreciative of Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi. I’m kind of watching everything Taika and/or Rhys have done (especially together, also especially with OFMD creator David Jenkins) so like rewatching What We Do in the Shadows, and I just finished watching Hunt for the Wilderpeople (heartwarming, Rhys killed it too, haha). Watching full interviews with them, but really the crowning interview was this 2 minute clip of a panel they did here:
It’s kind of amazing to watch them be so sincere and respectful about the romance they play for each other in OFMD, while still totally giggly about suggestive turns of phrase. It’s just brilliant, honestly. This show and its cast and creators just make me so happy.
Also, I’m working on a fic reclist of favorite OFMD stories. It’s not out yet but you can always check my AO3 bookmarks for what I’m going to be reccing in them.

vvitchering:

He can’t find his damned jacket.

It was a casualty of his eagerness to be naked as quickly as possible the night before, dumped inelegantly on the floor with the rest of his things. Pants, shirt, boots, various other accessories, they’re all accounted for.

Stede’s things, as usual, are tidy and put away already. He worries about things like wrinkles creasing his fine fabrics and ruining the aristocratic aesthetic he’s cultivated. Polite society thinking he’s dead isn’t an excuse to dress sloppily, according to him. He intends to run with the Gentleman Pirate moniker he’s so fond of, fussy clothes and all.

chapter 1 of a dollop of milk and seven sugars

“Morning, Buttons.”

The early morning air prickled at Oluwande’s skin as he unlocked the front door to the coffee shop. The custodian, Mr. Buttons – a tall, thin older man with stringy, graying hair and a thick Scottish accent – was always there before him, standing and watching the sky, where just the tiniest hint of light played at the horizon.

“Foggy,” he commented. “Ill omen, fog.”

“Okay.”
