sketch of jacob in character as a spoiled foppish dandy, swirling a wineglass of milk.
I had originally planned to go for a more period-appropriate moody paint style until I realized I didn’t actually want to shade an entire dressing gown, so I kinda stopped at “colorized sketch”. tried to find the most pretentious reference pictures possible for the body and ended up basing the wardrobe on Lord Byron’s (of course).
It’s been an impossibly long time since I last painted! Here’s a warmup portrait of YJ. I sort of started off like I was going to cel shade but the style ended up going all over the place…next time maybe I’ll actually try something specific.
For the shirt and background, I was just really having fun with the delicious new impressionist brush set I bought from Kyle Webster, patron god of photoshop brushes. (haha pls ignore that I mixed watercolor splatters with oil painting) The rest of the portrait is done with a default hard-edge opacity brush with a paper texture on top in Overlay mode.
