sometimes when i have writer’s block i like to write a quick scene in which my main character is going Absolutley Ham ™ on a literal block of wood/stone/slime no writing rules no conventions just an angry little mind-gremlin breaking something down so i can then go on to traumatise them through the narrative :-)
