QUEER FOLK! (Of any kind)
Please respond to this telling me why you are proud of your queer identity and why you are scared due to it, it’s for a photography project and in the photos, it will be completely anonymous!
I’m proud of my queer identity because I had to work hard for it.
I had to work hard to love and accept my queer identity, I had to work hard to reach a place I was ready to share my queer identity with others, and I had to work hard to build new friendships off our shared queer identities.
I was scared because being queer meant I had to confront the fact I did not want the future I always expected I would have.
I was scared I would be alone if I didn’t get married, that being childless would remove purpose from my life, and that I would always have to fight for respect.
Part of learning to love my queer identity was working through those fears and I think I grew because of it.
She waited among the flowers in the garden. She would wait there for all eternity if that’s what it took. Her princess would come.
Sharing my Pride challenge contributions here because I’m so proud of what I created. They are based on being who you are, self image, standing together and love.
