MOONINTAURUS-SCORPIO

principle… I use my power or die.

transformation… I live to serve through power.

the placement of the moon in a taurus-scorpio karmic configuration seems to relate to a past-life history concerned with power - magical, political, charismatic, mundane, economic, spiritual and, in many cases, sexual. there is almost a pathological desire for power before it is achieved, and once it has been achieved, the person executes that power with almost mystical skill. sometimes the individual uses power for the benefit of others; at other times, depending on other factors in the chart, it is used for sheer, selfish ego gratification. as with any manifestation of the sign scorpio, there seems to be no in-between. either these individuals use their power totally for their own purposes, or they exercise it in an exalted manner, devoted to uplifting humankind.

the presence of the caring, nurturing moon in the spiritually powerful taurus-scorpio axis relates to service to one’s fellow beings. unlike the virgo-pisces axis, however, taurus-scorpio service is not that of the savior-martyr but rather of the charismatic leader who spreads the word through personal magnetism.

of course, there are taurus-scorpio individuals who seem to be oblivious to the concept of serving others and whose powers seem to be focused on bettering themselves. this statement is not meant to be interpreted as indicating that taurus-scorpio individuals who use their power only for their own purposes are bad or evil people. though they can be motivated by malice, more often than not they are simply self-centered people for whom the exercise of power is a game, who enjoy seeing how they can affect the lives of other people.

indeed, one of the most positive manifestations of the taurus-scorpio axis is power over oneself. although taurians and scorpions alike have a reputation for laziness and self-indulgence, particularly when the moon is involved, they also possess strong will power. for example, taurus-scorpio people have a tendency to put on weight, but once they make up their minds to take it off, they don’t stop until they’ve reached their goals; rather than becoming discouraged they treat the ups and downs of the scale as challenges. they also have power to look inward, and to reach the deepest stages of consciousness while practicing meditation or past-life regression.

this power over oneself does not always manifest positively. sometimes taurians, because of their strong desire for financial security, will stick for years with jobs or professions they dislike, forcing themselves to put up with boredom for the sake of their material well-being, thereby robbing themselves of emotional satisfaction. scorpions have been known to practice severe asceticism; by mortifying the body, they attempt to liberate the mind and spirit.

another keyword that could be used to describe the effect of a moon taurus-scorpio configuration is compulsion. emotions, habit patterns and unconscious drives remaining in the psyche from past lifetimes create a compulsion to use power. this compulsion can be focused for either good or evil. as the soul reaches a certain stage in its progress, an absolute obsession with serving humanity develops. if the individual’s power is not used to serve, the omission creates the most devastating karmic weight. to serve humankind, on the other hand, lightens the karmic load and releases the soul.

ifsaturn is involved in a moon taurus-scorpio pattern, the individual has in prior incarnations experienced both power and the compulsion to use it, but has been frustrated in this desire by circumstances beyond one’s control. the patterns will probably be repeated in the current lifetime, and one will undoubtedly find them more inhibiting than ever. such persons must find some outlet for their energies which can enable them to indulge this compulsion in a positive manner while transcending limitations imposed by society or other outside factors. if uranus is involved in the pattern, in the past the person experienced breaks and interruptions in the use of power. sometimes one loses everything and has to start all over again. the secret to attaining the balance represented by this planetary position is to realize that the separations and upsets caused by uranus are transitory in nature; the losses have a purpose, however elusive it may seem. when a contractor wants to construct a new building, remnants of old structures on the site must be cleared away first. the new building will be far superior to the one that is destroyed. the individual can utilize the innate inventiveness and mental agility of uranus to restructure their life after a loss and make it better than it was before. if neptune is involved in the configuration, the person has been quite psychic and spiritually aware in prior lives but, at the same time, under a cloud of illusion about both the nature and extent of personal power. such persons may have been unaware of the very existence of their power. for this reason, in the present lifetime they may be unaware of their talents and abilities and suffer from an unwarranted lack of self-esteem. pluto in a taurus-scorpio karmic configuration hints at the presence of even greater innate power. these individuals probably have known from an early age that they have a certain amount of power over the physical world, and to some degree can manipulate people, situations, sometimes even matter to suit their own purposes. they are likely to be attracted to such practices as magic and witchcraft, and may grow adept in the use of them. if they embrace such disciplines as meditation and past-life regression, they find that they can reach the deepest levels of consciousness and perhaps even travel mentally to the farthest limits of space and time.
