apparently, galileo came up with the earliest notions of the timekeeping we do today. the entirety of a clock’s work, all originating from the mere taking his pulse. how strange, that the oldest notion of mechanical time is possibly the most humane kind of time: living, breathing, unreliable. ticking away in all its red-blooded, throbbing humanity. the invariant hand of the clock is of mere muscle pulsating against white bone. hundreds of years later, i keep time with the sound of my heartbeat in my throat, as measured time falls out of pace. can we take it slow? just stay like this for a while.
