“Lead on. I’m making sure we aren’t being followed.”
He was lying, he had done that already, but she turned ahead with a shrug and trudged forward through the powdered snow. Kou felt his chest heave with relief. Yet still, a thought danced in his mind that made him run a hand through his hair, as if to brush it away.“
