Ok so question

I am like REAL into creepy shit. Avant garde, the macabre, unsettling things, the grotesque, the surreal, weird shit. And I LOVE butoh for that reason, among others.

Is there a style of pole dance that incorporates this sort of thing? Like, being sexy is fun, but being UNSETTLING is way better (for me, at least). Like I’ve seen contemporary dance incorporated, hip hop too, but what about like butoh? Does that go too far against what butoh is and is about?

I feel like there’s gotta be something like this out there. Anybody point me in the direction?

So I got my pole!!

But it turns out, my ceilings are too high. I need another extension on it before I can install it…. so I’ve ordered a tape measure to figure out what kind of extension I need, and will be ordering the extensions this week once it arrives!

I need to order a few other things with the extensions. Cleaning alcohol and a mat are deffo on the list, but I’m thinking I want to try getting some gloves as well. My hands just get so goddamn sweaty. Anybody worked with them before? Any recommendations for them?

Found a pole on Ebay and am going to pick it up today! Just have to find someone to install it at home and then I’ll have an at-home pole to practice with!

Throw back to the last time I felt comfortable enough to ask someone to take my picture in class&hel

Throw back to the last time I felt comfortable enough to ask someone to take my picture in class…

I want to work on getting my foot even closer to my head, and having my bottom leg be a bit straighter. This was the first day I did this pose, and I have been so sweaty since that I’ve hardly even been able to climb…. oops lol I also want to work on not looking so strained. I want to be graceful.

I can already do a pretty decent job, and I just gotta keep working to get even better!

So tonight I had pole! I usually don’t have Wednesdays free, so I haven’t been able to take the pole class at my studio that focuses on choreo, but tonight ended up being free, so I did the choreo class, and I LOVE IT. I wish they offered it on more days than just Wednesday.

I was absolute shit at a lot of it, since it incorporated spinning and I have never done that before, so I improved on some parts I couldn’t quite get, but I always adore dancing, so it was fun anyway.

I would post a video, but it has other people in it, and I tried to block them out somehow, but it just wasn’t working. So sadly, no video.

The thing is, it wasn’t good. I wasn’t good. I had so many things I was doing terribly. But I only see that when I look at the video, and now I know what to fix! I felt silly asking one of the other girls to film it, since I was NOT good at it and could barely get parts, so it felt really silly, but the thing is… if I don’t look, I can’t get better. And when I do get better, I’ll have something to compare it to later down the road. And that’s pretty awesome.

Pole is one of the highlights of my week. I love it so much. I just wish I would stop sweating so freaking much so I could actually hold onto the thing.

This is a VERY weird photo for me to add on to a Fitblr post, but I snapped this photo in the middle of an intense pole dance class last night and realized it was the first time in months I’ve probably posted about anything fitness-related on a personal level.

I am a highly-competitive person and hold myself to high standards often. However, this has always steered me away from competing in official competitions in subjects I enjoy. I have always feared losing.

On that note: I have signed up to compete in level 1 Russian Exotic for a pole dancing competition in LA in late-September. Due to Covid, we aren’t allowed spectators, so it’ll be interesting to be judged and not have anyone there to support me lol.

I’m excited though. I’ve been training hard and have developed half my routine already. I have a couple more stunts to put in, and I should be good to go.

Wish me luck, ya’ll
